'Quiet' Fools
2075
John Tracy had to admit, ever since Gordon and Penelope's twins were born on April Fools Day 2067, the day had become a more quieter affair…
It wasn't due to the reduction of crank calls - those were still coming thick and fast, but more to do with the fact that nobody on the Island wanted to ruin Sophia and Simon's birthday with a wayward prank gone wrong.
Especially Gordon, who didn't want to catch his wife's wrath for ruining their children's special day, with threats of no intimacy and sleeping outside in the pool chairs, proving very effective at keeping Gordon in line.
Because even though John's immediate younger brother was an idiot, he wasn't a stupid one, he knew where his bread was buttered, and he wasn't about to risk upsetting the kids and having only his hand for company, for a badly timed prank.
Besides sleeping on the pool deck wasn't the greatest experience, not only could you get caught in a freak rainstorm that the island was notorious for, but if Scott needed to take off in Thunderbird 1, for whatever reason, you only had about a minute to clear the pool deck or face getting blown away by One's thrusters.
And it wasn't as if Gordon didn't still randomly prank people at other times of the year, the guy was still a monster around Halloween, and to make things worse he had started to recruit the kids in his endeavours.
Kids that had started to strike out with pranks of their own…
Namely Gordon's little mermaid princess, Sophia…
John nailed a petrified looking Gordon with glare as he scraped the pineapple scented, gold glitter slime out of his hair, "If you insist on teaching the children your stupid games," he snarled at his brother. "Make sure they know all about the stupid prizes that go along with them, because if Sophia, or any of the other children, pull anything like this on me or Alan on April Fools Day again, there will be consequences," John flicked a handful of slime in a bucket. "I don't care whose birthday it is, we already have enough to deal with to make sure we don't have any unnecessary call outs, without worrying about any unnecessary pranks that could be pulled on us…"
Gordon nodded, "I think Dad, Penny and Scott are giving the kids the lecture now," he replied, in a weak voice. "I'm sorry, John, and I'll see that Sophia apologises to you as well."
"Good," John replied, as grabbed a towel and made his way to the showers. "And make it clear to her that if she thinks of doing anything like this again, I don't start prank wars..."
"I end them."
Notes: A pissed off John is a very scary individual, and also a vindictive one (while he's not so nasty with children, there is definitely a sting in his reprimands), but since this is Sophia's first offence, he is letting the others handle it.
Gordon already knows better than to mess with John on April Fools Day, but the kids are still young enough to not realise this fact.
