Chapter 5
Cleo groaned as she slowly came to and opened her eyes. As she opened her eyes, she knew she was in a bedroom and the bed felt familiar but it wasn't her bed. As she sat up slightly, she realised it was Jason's bedroom.
"How the hell did I get here?" Cleo asked rubbing her eyes.
She remembered feeling sick and having a sore head before but now she felt better but was groggy from waking up. As she sat up more, she felt something on her arm and when she looked at her left arm, she seen she had an IV in her arm and blood pressure band on.
"What the hell?" Cleo asked out loud.
It was then she remembered what had happened. She had called Alex to stay at the second apartment but when she stood up to clean the kitchen, her vision had gone blurry and she must have blacked out. How she ended up at Barney's though was a mystery.
Seeing that her blood pressure was at normal level and the IV bag was empty, she pulled the band off and gently pulled the needle out and grabbed the Band-Aid that was on the table and her phone. Checking the time on her watch, she seen it was almost eight thirty. She carefully stood up off the bed and felt better than she did earlier so she decided to make her way downstairs to see what was going on. As she got out Jason's room, she couldn't hear any voices upstairs but there was voices coming from downstairs. She headed downstairs but stopped outside the living room door to hear what Jason was talking about.
"No she's still out upstairs." Jason said to who ever he was talking to.
"That's good. Hopefully they'll find him soon." Jason replied back to the person again.
Cleo knew that they had to be talking about her dad.
"I don't know yet." Jason sighed. "I don't know what happened but he caused her to get in this state. Right now he ain't getting near her."
Cleo was taken aback by his comments. Jason had always been protective of her and like to show the world that she was his but he'd never been possessive or controlling with it. If she wanted to see her dad, he wasn't going to stop her because he couldn't control her. She decided now was the time to make her presence known. She opened the living room door and gave a small knock on it to get Jason's attention as he had his back to her at the other end of the room.
"I gotta go but keep me posted." Jason said as he turned round shocked to see Cleo up.
"Hey." Cleo smiled as Jason hung up on whoever he was talking to.
"Baby." Jason sighed as he went to her and scooped her up in arms. "You shouldn't be up."
"I'm fine." Cleo smiled trying to appease to him. "How did I get here?"
"You didn't answer me when I called you and Alex said you were going to stay at the shop." Jason said as he sat down on the couch, adjusting Cleo in his lap. "When you didn't show, we got worried and headed to your house. The door was wide open with broken glass and booze all over the kitchen and we found you passed out on the living room floor. Brought you here and Tool made sure you were ok."
"My hero." Cleo smiled. "Is that why I had the band and IV in?"
"Yeah." Jason smiled. "You had low blood pressure and low blood sugar combined with dehydration."
"Explains why I passed out." Cleo sighed as she snuggled in Jason's chest.
"Can you remember what happened?" Jason asked as he held her tightly to him.
"Yeah. I only ate a sandwich yesterday but ran a 15k with Alex and barely stopped all day. Then I didn't sleep well last night and didn't eat again but I kept doing stuff. I called Alex to ask if I could stay at the shop as dad's on a bender but then when I went to call you, I stood up and blacked out."
"You never forgot to eat babe." Jason smirked as he looked at her.
"I know. It was my own fault and after how shit I felt, I won't be doing that again." Cleo smiled back at him.
"Not totally your fault." Jason whispered hoping she didn't hear him.
She did hear him.
"Who was on the phone?" Cleo asked turning serious.
"Alex." Jason said trying to distract her by hugging her.
"Hugging me more isn't going to get you out of this." Cleo replied knowing what he was up to. "Tell me what's going on."
Jason let out a heavy sigh knowing he couldn't get out of telling her what was going on. "The team headed to your place to clean up the mess then go look for Gunner. Bartender said they just missed him at one of their locals but they think they know where he's gone. Then they're taking him back to the shop for an intervention."
Cleo was happy that the team were helping to find him but she knew she needed to be there to help with the intervention.
"Ok." Cleo smiled as she got off Jason's lap. "Come on, let's go."
"Where are we going?" Jason asked hoping it was upstairs to snuggle more.
"To help look in the bars for him." Cleo said.
"Babe your under age. You'll barely get near the entrance." Jason smirked back.
"Fine." Cleo sighed. "Let's go wait at the shop for them."
"No." Jason replied.
"What?" Cleo asked shocked by the way he said it.
"Baby." Jason said as he stood up and placed his hands on her hips. "We're not going anywhere tonight. I gotta keep you safe. I'll tie you up if I need to so you can't leave."
"I'll be safe at the shop with you, the team, Alex and my dad. I need to be there for when he gets back. I can help pull him out of this." Cleo replied trying to reassure him.
"He caused you black out. You need to wait until he's better." Jason said trying to do the same with her.
"No he didn't." Cleo slightly shouted at him getting angry now. "I seen him yesterday and he was fine. Me blacking out was my own stupidity."
"Come here." Jason cooed to her as he leaned in to finally kiss her.
"No." Cleo groaned as she seen him moving in for a kiss and gently pushed him away. "Stop it."
"Ok." Jason groaned shocked that she had pushed him away. Something he thought would never happen. "You wanna do this the hard way. We'll do it that way."
"I don't need you to drive me anyway." Cleo spat back at him.
She turned to go to the kitchen but as she left Jason didn't look to concerned which she knew was a bad sign. She put her shoes on, grabbed Jason's truck keys and headed to the front door but when she went to open the door it was locked. The key wasn't in the door so she went back to the kitchen to where it was usually kept but it wasn't there. She checked all the other drawers of keys but it still was nowhere to be found.
"Son of a bitch." Cleo muttered to herself as she closed the last drawer.
With a final groaned she headed back to the living room to get the key.
"Where is it?" Cleo asked.
"Why?" Jason asked without taking his eyes off the TV.
"You know why." Cleo spat at him. "Now where is it?"
"I can't remember where I put it and since you don't need it, I'm not gonna look." Jason replied changing the channel.
"Jason this isn't fair." Cleo said as she stood in front of the TV. "You can't keep me locked up."
Jason coolly ignored her and pretended she wasn't in the way.
"So now you're giving me the silent treatment. What are you six years old?" Cleo shouted at him hoping he'd snap out of it.
It didn't work as Jason continued to ignore her.
"You're such an asshole." Cleo shouted at him before she stormed upstairs.
She hoped he'd follow her but he sat still giving her the silent treatment. She headed upstairs and looked out every window to see if there was a way to climb down without hurting herself but it was an eight foot drop from the second floor with nothing to hold onto or break her fall so climbing out the window wasn't an option. She went back to Jason's room as she thought of plan B and called Alex.
"Hey sleeping beauty. How you feeling?" Alex asked when he answered.
"Hey. Yeah I'm fine. Thank you for coming to get me with Jason." Cleo smiled down the phone at him.
"That's what second choices are for." Alex laughed down the phone.
"True." Cleo smiled. "I need another favour."
"Name it?" Alex asked.
"I can help you guys with my dads intervention. Can you come and get me from Jason's cause he's locked the door and won't let me leave." Cleo pleaded with him.
"Sorry can't do that." Alex sighed back.
"What? Why not?" Cleo asked.
"Jason wants to keep you away from this and I agree. He knew you'd probably freak out and call me so he made me promise that I wouldn't come and get you." Alex said knowing she would be mad.
"You're an asshole to." Cleo shouted back at him annoyed at how well Jason knew her.
"Wait before you hang up can this asshole say something?" Alex shouted to get her attention before she hung up.
"Fine." Cleo groaned.
"I know your super close with your dad and it's great you wanna help but I don't think you can help. Gunner's on a bender cause of the team breaking up so the only ones that can help him get through this is the team." Alex said. "Has Jason told you why he's keeping you locked up?"
"No." Cleo sighed.
"There's a good reason why. He'll tell you why soon." Alex replied.
"Can't you just tell me?" Cleo groaned back hating all the secrecy.
"Not my place hun but don't be so hard on him." Alex said.
"Maybe to late for that." Cleo moaned back. "Can you at least keep me in the loop of what's happening with my dad. Right now I don't trust Jason to tell me."
"That I can do." Alex chuckled back. "I gotta go but I'll text you later."
"Ok bye." Cleo sighed as she hung up the phone.
As soon as she hung, she threw herself on the bed and let her tears flow as all her emotions came out.
Alex was right and Cleo had known it since Barney closed down the expendables. If Gunner was on a bender because of her mom or Cleo, she could easily bring him out of it and get him back on track but right now she didn't know how to help and it made her feel useless. Her mind had been thinking of ways to help him or thinking of what to say but she hadn't come up with anything. Sitting back and watching others help would be hard and she just hadn't wanted to admit it earlier. She knew she should have asked the team for help yesterday but she was to proud to ask them.
Then there was Jason. They had never fallen out or spoken to each other like that before. She had always loved how Jason liked to show her off and showered her with affection but he had never been possessive or controlling before. They were a couple but that didn't give him the right to control her and if it continued she wasn't sure they'd be able to stay together. She was her own person and didn't need anyone's permission to do what she wanted.
Wiping her tears away, Cleo felt herself getting tired again so she got changed into her pyjamas that she packed earlier and went to the bathroom to clean her teeth. Once done she went downstairs to get a glass of water but sighed knowing Jason would see her puffy eyes and that she had been crying. She walked past him in the living room and headed to the kitchen to get her water.
"Baby what's wrong?" Jason asked as he joined her in the kitchen.
Cleo decided to give him a taste of his own medicine and ignored him. She knew it was immature but he deserved it.
"So now you're giving me the silent treatment?" Jason asked rolling his eyes.
"Not nice is it." Cleo smirked at him as she walked past him.
She went back upstairs and grabbed her phone from Jason's room but she wasn't sleeping here tonight unless he apologised. Just as she closed his bedroom door, she saw him coming up the stairs.
"Where you going?" Jason asked wondering if he'd get an answer.
"Spare room." Cleo said without looking at him as she kept walking. "I'm not sleeping with you."
"Cleo wait." Jason said.
Once again Cleo ignored him, to angry to look at him. She got in the spare room and set her phone and water down but she realised Jason had followed her.
"Go away." Cleo sighed as she turned to look at him.
"No. We need to talk about this." Jason said using all his strength not to pin her on the bed so she had no choice but to listen to him.
"Little late for that." Cleo spat back at him.
"For fuck sake." Jason shouted losing his cool as he grabbed her arm, pulled her close to him and held her tightly. "Just listen to me."
Jason knew if he kissed her, she would calm down so before she could protest he kissed her hard but Cleo wasn't having it.
"Jason." Cleo shouted against his lips as she managed to move her head to the side. "Get off me!"
As she moved her head away, Jason didn't know what came over him as he pushed Cleo against the wall and held her wrists so she couldn't move. He knew it was wrong but it seemed the only way to get her to listen.
"Let me go." Cleo half screamed and half sobbed at him as she was pinned against the wall. She had a purple belt in karate and could easily get out of his grip but that would mean hurting Jason which she knew there would be no coming back from.
"I was scared baby." Jason shouted as tear welled up in his eye. "I'm sorry but I was fucking scared shitless. I thought you were dead and that I'd lost you."
Cleo finally looked him in the eye and knew he wasn't lying. For the first time she seen fear in his eyes and knew he deserved to be heard but before that a rush of desire overcame her.
They locked their eyes on each other but it only sped up their breathing. They closed the distant between them and crashed their lips to each other and let their tongues collide together. Jason let go of Cleo's wrists and her hands went straight for Jason's tracksuit bottoms as she pulled them down along with his briefs. Jason moaned as she fumbled with his pants as his hands went to her waist and pulled her pyjama shorts and panties down. As they fell to her ankles, Cleo stepped out of them and when she was free of them, Jason lifted her up onto him as he slid inside her, earning a deep moaned from Cleo. He thrust almost completely out of her before thrusting hard back into her as Cleo's ass slapped against the wall. Jason moved his lips away from hers as he buried his face in her neck continuing his fast pace, as Cleo scrapped her nails along his shoulders and moaning against every thrust. All to soon, Jason felt his release coming and Cleo's walls started shaking around his as well.
"Fuck!" They cried out as they came together.
Jason was strong but he couldn't hold Cleo as he was shaking so much. He gently pulled her off him and placed her back on the ground but still held her tightly.
"I'm so sorry." Jason cooed into her neck. "I love you so much."
Cleo gently pushed his head up from her neck and gave him a long lingering kiss.
"You ready to talk like adults now?" Cleo asked as her lips pulled away.
Jason nodded as he rested his forehead against hers.
"Good. Let's go to bed and talk." Cleo smiled at him.
Cleo bent down and put her underwear and shorts back on as Jason pulled his pants and briefs back on. She grabbed her phone and water and followed Jason back to his bedroom. Cleo climbed into bed as Jason took his pants and t shirt off off before climbing in beside her.
"What were you scared of?" Cleo asked as Jason pulled the covers up around them.
"When I walked into your living room and seen you lying there, I thought you were dead." Jason sighed. "You were so still and I couldn't see your chest moving. It was like someone had literally ripped my heart out but when Alex said you had a pulse, it was like something clicked inside me."
As he spoke, Cleo placed her hand on his cheek seeing the pain written over his face.
"I know you said your dad would never hurt you but he did unintentionally cause this. That's why I wanted to keep you away from him and keep you safe. I couldn't cope if I had to see you like that again baby. I know I was controlling you and I went about it the wrong way but I was scared." Jason smiled at her trying to get back in good books. "I can't lose you."
"Come here." Cleo said as she went into his arms.
"I'm sorry baby." Jason murmured in her ear holding her tightly.
"Promise me you won't do it again or try and control me." Cleo replied inhaling his scent.
"I promise." Jason replied getting out their hug.
"I'm sorry I called you an asshole." Cleo laughed as they faced each other.
"Don't be." Jason laughed back. "I deserved it."
Jason turned away from her and reached into his bedside drawer for something. Once he found it, he turned back to her.
"Here." Jason said as he held up the house key. "We can get dressed and go to the shop if you want."
"No babe. Put it back." Cleo sighed as Jason placed it back in the drawer. "I called Alex when I came upstairs and he made me realise something."
"What's that?" Jason asked turning back to face her.
"Since the team got closed down I've been looking for ways to help dad get out of his funk and my minds been in over drive the past two days he's been on his bender." Cleo said as more tears welled up. "I've always known what to do or say when he gets like this but this time I can't help. I don't know to help and it's gonna be hard to sit on the side lines and watch other people help him. That's why I wanted to go to the shop so I could at least be there and not feel useless."
Jason wrapped himself around her and held her tightly as Cleo's tears fell on his shoulder.
"You've got the biggest heart babe." Jason cooed in her ear. "Letting others help doesn't make you useless. It makes you stronger that you knew you needed others to help you. The boys will find him, take him back to the shop and get him back on track."
"I guess so." Cleo sighed nuzzling his neck.
"Everything's gonna be ok baby." Jason cooed to her.
Right now Cleo didn't know that it would be ok but hearing Jason say those words, it did make her feel like it would be ok. Jason moved his head and gave her along lingering kiss.
"Suppose I better add tonight to the list of shit I gotta make up for." Jason smiled as they pulled apart.
"If you're not tired I got an idea." Cleo smirked at him.
"Wide awake baby." Jason smirked back.
"Tie me up like you said you would." Cleo said seductively to him.
"What?" Jason asked confused. "I thought you didn't want to leave now."
Cleo rolled her eyes and smirked at him as she waited for him to catch on. After a few seconds he finally realised what she meant and his eyes lit up with desire.
"You're a naughty girl." Jason breathed heavily as he kissed her.
"Yes I am." Cleo moaned as their lips separated. "Hurry up so you can show me how sorry you are and how much you love me.
"Yes Ma'am." Jason smiled back.
He almost fell out of bed he tried to get out of it so quickly to find something to tie Cleo up with.
As she watched him, Cleo finally left like everything would work out after the stress of the last few days.
