Chapter 2

Negotiation with the Cartel

General Uzumaki was in a meeting with members of the Jedi Council and Chancellor Palpatine. In the two weeks he was promoted the General, the blond had won a massive victory on Balmorra. The separatists took the planet and held the tech engineer and civilian's hostage. Naruto know of the droid Balmorra had would be used against him and the Republic. He decided to use an EMP bomb on several parts of the planet disabling the droids armies and taking back the planet with a few hundred casualties.

"Well done on freeing Balmorra," said Master Kenobi.

"I got lucky," said Naruto. "Why have I been called here?"

"Master Windu," said Palpatine.

A holo-image of Hutt space appears. "I am seeing Hutt territory however the Republic has no authority there," said the blond.

"You are correct," said Master Windu. "We need someone with a diplomatic tongue to negotiate with the Hutt Cartel."

Naruto closes his eyes. "It's possible but difficult.'

"Maybe you should explain," reasoned Palpatine.

"The Hutt Cartel are motivated by two things. First power for themselves. Second and more importantly Money and wealth," said Naruto. "Bringing a Jedi would not be a good idea because of what Jedi represent."

"What do you mean?" asked Windu.

"The Jedi will oppose everything the Hutts are motivated by," said Naruto. "I can get the job done. However I need two conditions met. First I will be free to act independently from the Senate, the Jedi and the office of the Chancellor."

"The Jedi will agree with that," said Windu

"The senate will not appreciate that but I think I can convince them and you have my support," said Palpatine.

I require both the funds for my plans and time," said Naruto.

"How much are you asking for?" asked Palpatine

"I will need several Million for my plan. I can fund the plan with my own finances however, I will need extra just in case."

"I will allocate the fund. Will 10 million be sufficient?" asked Palpatine.

"That is more then plenty," said Naruto.

Later that day, the blond was in the hanger looking over three Capital ships given to him for his mission. Standing in front of one of the ships was a Jedi. "Greeting General," said the young Jedi.

"Master Jedi. I wasn't expecting anyone from the order."

"The council request that I accompany you on this mission," said the Jedi. "I am Jedi Padawan Un Der.'

"Where is your Master?" asked the blond.

"He currently on a mission," said the young human Jedi. "I am more interested in diplomacy then combat."

"You know the mission we are on?"

"Negotiate with the Hutt Cartel," said the Jedi.

"Come."

Naruto was in hyperspace. In the copilots seat was the Jedi Padawan. "Now Jedi Der, question," said Naruto

"Yes general."

"Have you seen any action?" asked Naruto.

"I have yet to be deployed. My master has been training at the temple," said the young Jedi.

"I see," said Naruto. "You have training but no experience. We will have to change that in a safe environment.'

"When do we start?'

"Follow me," said Naruto. The two sit down at a small table. "Activate Dejarik."

The padawan looks on. "Now we are going to play a few games. Do you know why I chose this game?"

"I don't know general."

Naruto smiles. "It will help with you strategic thinking. The first time we play we will play on an even field. After you beat me the first time. I will change the rules."

Understood general," said the padawan.

The game began and ended after hour moves from each side. Naruto decimated his opponent. "Do you know what you did wrong?"

"I took a risky gamble and I failed," said the padawan.

"Correct. You panicked. You made slight mistake in spreading your pieces too far leave my win condition wide open," said Naruto. "Again."

They played five games. Naruto noticed that the padawan was improving with each loss. She never made the same mistake twice. Naruto left opening on purpose to see if she could spot opportunities. She did. On the sixth game the Padawan was able to beat Naruto. "I did it."

Naruto smiled. "Yes you did. Congrats. To be honest I thought it would take longer. Get some rest we will be at Hutta tomorrow."

Naruto's flagship appeared over Hutta. On the bridge the communications officer opens up a channel. "This is General Uzumaki wishing to meet with the honorable Hutts.'

"May I inquire about the state of your visit?"

"The republic wishes to establish a communication with the honorable Hutt about opening up the Hutt space."

"Very well," said the voice. "We will allow you general and one bodyguard to plead your case."

"Thank you for the consideration," said Naruto. He turns to the clones. "Are the gift set to be sent down."

"Yes sir.'

Naruto was standing in front of the Hutt cartel. There were about 10 members. "I appreciate it that you took the time to meet with us. I have brought a token of our gratitude."

A small over cart comes in with a Giant sculpture. "We are curious as to what it is made of?" asked the head Hutt.

"It is made of two hundred pounds of Nova crystal," said Naruto. "You are more than willing to check yourself.'

A small droid walks up and takes out a device, "He is correct pure Nova Crystal.," said the droids.

"I have gift for each member," said Naruto.

"What do you wish?" asked another Hutt.

"Two things. First, I would like to have access to Hutt space for troop movement. Two a planet in your system that I can buy for a military base and spaceport."

The first thing we can accommodate with. Can the republic afford the second?"

Naruto motion for the padawan to walk forward and hand the droid a data pad. "On that pad you will find I have enough credits to our buy a planet. "I was thinking fifty billion credits. No strings attached."

The Hutt turns to a droids. "Do we have any planet that are not inhabited?"

"Moralan, honorable Hutt. The species died out millennia ago," said the droids.

"Is that suitable?" asked the Hutt leader.

"That is indeed acceptable," said Naruto. "You will find the credits in your account now."

"The droid looks on his datapad and nod his head. "A pleasure doing business," said Naruto with a bow. After several more hours of negotiations, Naruto was walking back to his small ship.

Captain, set course for this planet and be ready to build a base," said the blond. As the capital ships where leaving Naruto turned on the holo-call. A holo-image of Chancellor Palpatine, Master Windu, Master Yoda and Master Plo appeared.

"General Uzumaki. I take it negotiation succeeded?" asked Palpatine.

"They did. The terms are very simple. I paid them a lump of one hundred million credits for use of Hutt space. We are not to instigate any battles with the separatist if we run into them unless we are attacked," said the blond. "I was able to secure a planet with my own funds for use as a military outpost."

"That is great news," said Palpatine.

"My fleet will be here for a few weeks to get the base set up," said Naruto. "I do have a request to the Jedi council. But I would like to speak to them privately."

"I will exit the call," said Palpatine.

Naruto turns to the members of the council. "The young Padawan is a intelligent and bright young lady," said the blond. "If her master agrees, I would like to continue her training in strategic maneuvering and tactics."

"We can discuss this when her Master returns from a mission," said Master Windu.

"I would prefer it that way," said Naruto. "I will be in contact with update on the base and negotiations."

"May the force be with you general," said Plo.

"As with you Master Jedis," said Naruto.

It had been several weeks since the base was set up. Naruto and the young Jedi had done some missions in area close to Hutt Space. Every mission was a crushing victory for the Republic. Naruto showed the young Jedi proper ways to lead troops. Keep calm under pressure and install a sense of work ethic in that you won't make soldiers do anything you aren't able to. In the battle of Melceum, Naruto and the young Jedi worked with the engineers to make trenches. Fortify defenses and led a push to expel the Separatists of the planet. Naruto saw something in the young female Padawan an untapped potential. However, they hadn't heard anything about her Master and it was starting to concern the young Padawan and Naruto.
