❗❗❗❗❗❗❗A/n : this is an idea that's been in my head since the boruto series first came out. And it's so frustrating that I can't work on it due to various circumstances and lack of time. I'm hoping someone will pick it up from here and make this idea into a wonderful story. The genre i was aiming for was romance and fluff with alight adventure and family feels. But everyone has their own style so... It's free for anyone to use and change as they like. Rather I insist. Please use this and make a fanfiction that would do it justice and finish it. ️ ️ ️

Chapter 1: A Different Dream*

The sky over Konoha was painted in hues of orange and violet as the sun dipped below the horizon. A gentle breeze rustled the leaves of the great trees surrounding the village, carrying the distant laughter of children playing in the streets. The village was at peace, something Naruto Uzumaki had fought with everything he had to achieve.

It had been a year since the war ended. The battle against Madara, Kaguya, and Sasuke felt like a lifetime ago, yet its echoes still lingered in the hearts of many. Konoha had been rebuilt, and though the pain of loss was still felt, there was hope. Hope for a new generation, hope for a brighter future.

Naruto had spent the past year adjusting to that future in a way he had never imagined. After the war, he had wasted no time in confessing his feelings to Hinata. He still remembered the nervous excitement in his chest as he had asked her on their first date, right in the middle of the bustling market district. To his delight, Hinata had smiled—her eyes shimmering with something so warm, so accepting—and had said yes.

Since then, they had been inseparable. It wasn't just the romance that had flourished between them, but an understanding, a companionship he had never truly known before. He had fought alongside her in battle, but now, they fought for something even greater—a future together.

Despite the happiness he found in his relationship with Hinata, one issue remained unresolved: the Hokage position.

He was meant to succeed Kakashi as the Seventh Hokage, but every time the discussion came up, he hesitated. At first, he had told himself he just needed a little more time to prepare, that there were things he wanted to learn before stepping into the role. But the truth was, deep down, something inside him was resisting the idea altogether.

Naruto found himself at the Hokage Monument that evening, sitting atop the stone carving of his father's face. He let his legs dangle over the edge, his gaze scanning the village below. He had imagined this moment countless times—sitting in the Hokage's office, wearing the hat, finally fulfilling his dream. But something was missing.

"Still avoiding the office, I see," a voice called out behind him.

Naruto smirked before turning his head. Kakashi Hatake stood there, his hands in his pockets, the familiar laziness in his posture belying the sharpness in his single visible eye. His mask hid most of his expression, but Naruto could tell he had been expecting this conversation.

"I wanted to talk to you, Kakashi-sensei," Naruto admitted as Kakashi moved to sit beside him.

"I figured," Kakashi said. "You've been stalling. The elders have been asking when you'll officially take up the mantle. And yet, here you are."

Naruto sighed, rubbing the back of his head. "Yeah… about that. I've been thinking… I want you to stay Hokage for a while longer."

Kakashi arched an eyebrow. "Oh? And why is that?"

Naruto took a deep breath before answering. "I spent my whole life dreaming of being Hokage. I thought it was everything. But now… I've realized that there's something I want just as much, maybe even more."

Kakashi said nothing, waiting for him to continue.

"I want to marry Hinata," Naruto said firmly. "I want to start a family with her, be there for my kids when they're growing up. I don't want to be the kind of father who's always stuck behind a desk or out on missions, too busy to be there when they need me. I've seen too many Hokage put the village before everything else, and while I respect that, I don't want to follow that path—not yet."

Kakashi hummed in thought. "You've put a lot of thought into this."

"Yeah," Naruto said, nodding. "I still want to be Hokage. But I won't take the position until I know I won't regret missing out on my family's life. I want to be there when my kids take their first steps, when they graduate from the Academy. I want to be a husband and a father first. Then, when the time is right, I'll take up the mantle."

Kakashi exhaled, looking out at the village. "The elders won't like it," he mused. "They want stability, and they see you as the strongest candidate."

Naruto grinned. "They'll just have to deal with it. Besides, who's better than you to hold things down in the meantime?"

Kakashi let out a soft chuckle. "So you're dumping the responsibility back onto me, huh?"

"Pretty much," Naruto said, laughing.

Kakashi shook his head. "I have to admit, Naruto, I didn't expect this. But… I think you're making the right choice."

Naruto turned to him, surprised. "You do?"

Kakashi gave a small nod. "Being Hokage isn't just about strength or leadership. It's about knowing what truly matters. And if you're choosing to put your family first, then that tells me you're going to be an even better Hokage when the time comes."

Naruto felt a warmth spread through his chest at those words. He had been prepared for pushback, for disappointment. But hearing his former sensei's approval meant more than he could express.

"Thanks, Kakashi-sensei," Naruto said sincerely. "That means a lot."

Kakashi stood, stretching his arms. "Just don't expect me to hold onto the title forever," he said, giving Naruto a teasing glance. "You'll take over eventually, whether you like it or not."

Naruto laughed. "Yeah, yeah. Just give me some time."

As he watched Kakashi walk away, Naruto leaned back, staring up at the darkening sky. He had once believed being Hokage was his only destiny, but now he knew better. His dream had expanded, evolved. And for the first time in his life, he felt completely at peace with the path he had chosen.

Because one day, he would be Hokage. But first, he would be a husband. A father. A man who cherished the love he had fought so hard to

protect.

And that, he realized, was the truest dream of all.
