Here we are folks! The tail end of the Treasure hunt has come at last! What happened to Balog and Thor!? Will find out today!
Merendinoemiliano: Thank you.
Altair: Indeed.
Bloodshot: Lol.
Century: Devils are beings of sin afterall.
Darksteel: Lol nice play on Gandalf XD but I think you mean Rossweisse the Silver XD It was she who stood on the bridge against the great flaming monster Balog Vassago became.
King Scarlet: I did not say Rias was most beautiful. In my opinion she's number 5 on my list of most beautiful women of High School DxD. One Rossweisse, Two Akeno, Three Thrud (A friend's OC), Four Kuroka, and Five Rias.
Destroyed: Maybe. Who knows how far Balog has fallen and he can't fly back up because of gravity magic. And Paimon was easy because he was left in shock at learning he really was facing the God of Thunder.
Geyser: Yes you have told me many times, buddy. That bridge will be crossed when I get to it.
Lycans: I never played infamous but that is a cool connection you made with it. Of course Thor should be able to absorb lightning since it is his affinity after all.
Maltazar: Oh there definitely will be a lot of drama going down in the Underworld but that won't be Thor's problem. He's got homework to do at Valhalla and protect Asgard from evil.
Nazgul60: If Odin couldn't find her what makes you think Thor could? Fafnir's treasure has nothing to do with Freya anyway.
Seekvaira rushed along the corridor, very angry. The young heroes usually kept her emotions in check but the news told to her by Olessias Stolas was one of those rare moments of displaying her anger. Earlier she had been planning a trip to check the territories occupied by the Agares family in the Human world when her father, who was also angry but kept his in check, told her Lady Stolas brought news about the Lords of House Paimon and Vassago had attacked the Seneca tribe.
Really!? She thought, her pink eyes narrowing with disgust, Breaking our treaty and killing humans and a fellow Devil for gold says how low those fools have fallen. They think like the Old Satans; caring only for themselves and killing all who stand in their way. Agothdorzen may have not split blood but he is not blameless in this atrocity.
Rounding a corner she halted, lying limp against a wall covered partly in dirt was the man who started this affair, Sarroxan Paimon. A quick check on him said he was unconscious with many of his bones broken. A battle had happened here and Paimon was the only casualty. Behind her she heard the Einherjar, Cadmus if she remembered his name correctly, say the tobacco lover deserved it. She didn't scorn the warrior from Asgard for saying such a cruel thing since all this trouble was started by Sarroxan.
A cry by Typhegor awoke his king who cringed at the pain he was feeling. When he looked about trying to recall what happened, he froze at the intense glare Seekvaira gave him. Whatever he was going to say was stopped by the heiress of the Agares family putting a seal over his mouth.
"I will learn what happened to you, later. For now, Lord Paimon, you and your Peerage shall be taken to the Underworld where Lord Lucifer will punish you for your actions." Seekvaira declared. The fear filling his eyes was satisfying to the Valkyries and Cadmus, "Alivian, take escort them back."
A handsome man dressed as a butler bowed and led Paimon and his Peerage back the way they came. When they were out of sight, the mixed group of Devils and Asgardians continued their trek hoping beyond hope they could stop Balog before he did something terrible. Her hope died when she saw the walls were melted.
"He didn't…" Growled Olessias.
"He did." Said Seekvaira sternly, "His fire form is dangerous to use in a place like that. He could melt the ceiling."
A blast of heat blew down the corridor followed by a loud roar. Sharing a look, Seekviara and Olessia ran the rest of the way down the corridor into a great hall. Before them was Balog in his great demon from falling into a chasm with what looked to be the remains of a stone bridge. When the last of Balog disappeared, Seekviara saw a woman with silver hair be picked up by a red haired boy and run to the opposite side. They must be Rossweisse and Thor, the latter surprising her for she expected the God of Thunder to be older.
She was puzzled by Thor, Rossweisse, and Balog not flying to escape the collapsing bridge until she realized flight magic was unusable after trying to fly herself. It was then she recalled Leif saying the place was filled with traps and this hall had a seal preventing one to fly. All she could do was watch Thor run as more and more of the bridge broke before giving a great leap for the edge. Seekvaira Agares did not know Thor personally yet the situation he was in left her heart pounding with anticipation if he would make it or not. A small gasp escaped her lips as Thor began to fall into the abyss.
On the opposite side Rossweisse starred in wide eyed horror, lips moving but no sound coming out. Thor couldn't be gone, he just couldn't be but he was. She saw him fall into the abyss with Balog. Tears welled in her aqua eyes. She told him to leave her but chose to save her but costing him his life.
"Rossweisse!"
A cry from the abyss halted the girl's tears. Scrambling to her feet she rushed to the edge to peer down. But lo and behold, clinging to the edge like a cat in a tree was Thor Odinson, his face pressed against the rock refusing to move for fear of losing his grip.
"Thor!" She cried, her voice echoed into the abyss, "Are you ok!?"
"I'm clinging to a rock for dear life! Do I seem ok!?"
Despite the tears still in her eyes, Thor's sarcastic reply had the rolling.
"Need a hand!?"
Looking up at the question, Rossweisse saw Leif, Sigrun, Rota, Cadmus and some unfamiliar faces on the opposite side of the chasm. Whoever the women were could wait. Right now they had to save Thor.
"I need a rope! A long rope!" Yelled Rossweisse. She was grateful to find the old Einherjar was able to not only summon a great length of rope but even teleport it across to her which she wasted no time casting down for Thor to grab and climb back up. Since teleportation magic could work then they could transport the gold straight to Nidavillir. When Thor was out of the chasm Rossweisse threw herself onto him, hugging him tightly while saying, "You stubborn idiot! You made me so worried!"
"I couldn't let you throw away your life like that, Rossweisse." Said Thor soothingly, "You could have just blown the bridge after following me across."
"I had to hold the way!" Protested Rossweisse, "Had we both crossed he may have already been halfway across himself and even if I did destroy the bridge he may have just grabbed ahold of the wall like you did and possibly even climbed back up."
Thor smacked his lips together, "Well he is gone. Whenever he reaches the bottom it will take him hours if not months or years to climb back out. Who are those women with the others?"
Rossweisse released Thor to watch both women and Leif work together to create a new wider studier bridge of ice for them to cross. When they were across Sigrun pulled Rossweisse into a tight hug, eyes filled with stars.
"That was incredible how you stopped Balog! Your northern courage burned as bright as the sun!"
"Yes. That was quite a sight to see." Said Cadmus agreed, a smile flashing across his lips.
"If Odin was here he would compliment your skills." Thor added.
The compliments were too much for her. Rossweisse buried her face in her hands to hide her teary eyed flustered expression. Where had all these nice words been when she was studying in Valhalla?
Rota cleared her throat before gesturing to the women next to her, "These are Seekvaira Agares, Heiress of House Agares and Olessias Stolas, the Lady of House Stolas. They saved us from execution and arrested Paimon and his servants."
"Did you now?" Said Rossweisse after drying her eyes, "Thank you for the assistant."
Thor glared at the two Devils, "That wouldn't have happened if you knew of this sooner."
"I agree that had I known sooner none of this would have happened." Seekvaira replied coolly.
"Then why did you not act sooner!?" Snapped the God, blue eyes flashing like the lightning he commanded.
Olessias stepped forward, "Because I was not told anything until Agothdorzen contacted me. He told me everything. The battle in New York, the attack on the native tribe and taking hostages to force you to give them Fafnir's treasure." The auburn haired beauty tossed back her hair, "I told them we did not need the treasure but their greed overcame them."
"Because you are the spawn of the seven deadly sins." Thor sneered.
Olessia ignored the insult, "Well you can be assured this affair is over. Sarroxan, Agothdrozen, and their peerages shall be held on trial for their actions and we leave the treasure to you."
"And Balog?" Asked Cadmus.
Seekvaira adjusted her glasses as she peered over into the abyss, "I am not sure. If the Satan's wish to arrest him then we will have to release the flight seals before arresting him. Otherwise he will be left down."
"I think that is a more fitting prisoner for him. Let him stay there until he dies of hunger or old age." Said Leif, "Unless he figures out he can teleport out of here…"
"That is a disconcerting thought, Mr. Erikson, but if he hasn't figured it out then arresting him or leaving him will depend on what my parents and the Satans say." Seekvaira said, "Since this matter has been cleared up we shall take our leave now. Lord Thor. Mr. Erikson. Farewell."
When the Devils were out of the chamber Rota rounded on Thor, "Was that really necessary? They saved our lives, Thor."
"And I am thankful for it but one good deed is not enough to redeem the Devils of a lifetime of wickedness."
"A lifetime of wickedness!?" Gaped Rota.
"Did this treasure hunt not prove that? They followed us like hounds killing all who stood in their way. Even a fellow Devil. They take whatever and whoever they wish when they wish."
"But Seekvaira and Olessia did not want the treasure."
"Tell that to the ones Paimon and Balog killed."
"Enough you two!" Cadmus said stepping between them before more words could be exchanged, "We are safe and have finally reached the treasure."
That put any further argument to an end for the God and Valkyrie. They gathered around the door, for a door it was, and waited to have it opened. Excitement overruled Thor's anger at the conversation with Rota. Behind this door held what they endured so much trouble to reach.
"Here at last," Said Leif, "Comes the end of our journey but it has been exciting if I say so myself. This tale should be shared in Valhalla."
"Maybe you can come visit Asgard to share it with the children."
"We shall see, Sigrun. We shall see." Said Leif, "Now Rossweisse, it is time."
Like with the seal on the entrance to the cave, Rossweisse raised her arms and spoke incantations making the runes glow before vanishing to allow the door to slide open upwards like a portcullis protecting a gate. They walked in and wonder came into their hearts as they looked upon what seemed to be a field of reeds dotted with hills. This however was not a golden field of plants, rather a golden field of metal coins that twinkled in the light of flames dancing within giant braziers situated on pedestals. Mixed in the landscape of gold were other colors like red, orange, green, blue, violet, white, silver, and brozens. Between wonder, joy, and excitement they stood and found no words to say.
At last Rossweisse stirred.
"Thor," She breathed unaware of holding his hand, "Fafnir's treasure."
Millions if not billions of gold, silver, and bronze coins and bars were strewn about with gemstones of different shapes and sizes, some embedded on crowns, statues, weapons, armor, and jewels. He knelt to scoop as much as he could into his hands before letting it slip through his fingers to fall back to the floor. He noticed the coins were of different countries through the centuries, Sumerian, Greek, Egyptian, Celtic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Australian, Germanic, Scandinavian, and many more. All the treasure Fafnir gathered from around the world through bribery and murder was now Asgards. He looked back at his friends and smiled while Rota laughed joyously before rushing onto the gold to toss handfuls into the air like a child playing with piled leaves.
"You did it Thor." Said Rossweisse before yelping with surprise at the God of Thunder suddenly jumping to his feet and lifting her into the air and spinning her about like a dancer would to his partner, "T-Thor!?"
"No, Rossweisse, you did it." He answered, ceasing his spin but still holding her, "You unlocked the seals. Got us safely past the traps and stopped Vassago from getting the treasure. We couldn't have done it without you. Your studying at Valhalla was worth the skill and knowledge to help us today. We couldn't have found the treasure without you."
Her face was flustered but slowly changed to a proud but bashful one from the Allfather's son's words. Her grandmother always said the God of Thunder was a compassionate man and she was being showered in it yet again. No wonder Sif fell in love with him…
Lost in each other's attention they didn't see Sigrun's triumphant smirk at finally reaching the treasure and amusement at seeing her idol and the prince's growing relationship. Off to the left Cadmus withdrew a beautiful crafted sword to examine it more closely. It appeared that this weapon, along with everything else, was still in mint condition despite sitting here for centuries underground.
Fafnir must have enchanted it all to never rust. Huh, what is over there? Cadmus approached the object and upon closer inspection realized it was ancient Greek armor. Next to it was a shield, spear, and sword, all made of pure bronze. If Fafnir stole these they must have been important to someone long ago. Well… now it had a new owner. Taking the armor he changed into it behind a pile of gold to give himself decency before strapping the sword to his side and taking the spear and shield before returning to the others.
"Well, what do we have here?" Sigrun asked, a violet brow raised in interest, "Our Greek Einherjar has found an armor suitable to him."
A faint blush spread across Cadmus' face, "I'd like to claim these for myself. If that isn't a problem."
"Not at all!" Called Thor from across the way, "You are all free to take whatever you wish. This treasure is more than enough to pay off our debt to the Dwarves and even rebuild. Speaking of which; can you contact Asgard and Nidavillir, Rossweisse?"
His question was already answered by the silver haired warrior who was already working on a three-way communication between Asgard, Nidavillir, and Midgard. An hour passed before communication was made between the two kingdoms. The kings of the Aesir and Dwarves reacted as Rossweisse expected when telling her tale; wonder at the dragon Gaasyendietha, disgust at the Devil's actions, and joy at finding the treasure.
Afterwards the two kings spoke alone before agreeing the debt to Nidavillir was officially paid off.
"What should we do with the treasure?" Thor asked the two kings.
"We can store it in a pocket dimension." Suggested Rossweisse, "It will take time but we can store it there and share the seal between us so we each may take as much gold as we need."
"A well conceived plan." Concluded Hreidmar, "However, we should divide it into multiple dimensions to keep them organized. Money, statues, weapons, etc."
"Speaking of weapons." Said Rossweisse, "Azazel said Fafnir stole a superweapon but we don't know what exactly it is."
"I recall that as well." Odin said, his eye narrowing in thought, "However, to search for it may take hours to find and, as you said, you don't know what it is or what it looks like."
"We nevertheless must look for it and keep it out of the wrong hands." Rossweisse said determinedly.
"I will look for it." Said Odin, "I will come there myself to search for this superweapon. Until I do start organizing and filling those pocket dimensions."
Before Thor could tell Odin none of them could create pocket dimensions, Thor was officiant in the skill but only used it to store his armor and weapons which he still could not summon, the communication ended. His fear, however, was dashed when Leif Eirkosn said he could create them. Soon the old Einherjar, with Rossweisse's help in organizing, started packing money, weapons, statues, and jewelry into separate dimensions all while keeping an eye out for a superweapon but so far finding nothing.
Seeing he was not needed to help, Thor decided to roam deeper into the treasure cave to find anything for himself. Cadmus has acquired the armor and weapons of his homeland, Sigrun took a goblet to drink at Valhalla when returning to Asgard, Rota found a beautifully woven dress, and Rossweisse took a Sumerian headdress. Thor, on the other hand, did not find anything for himself. Everywhere he looked, left, right, high or low, no sword, armor, statue, or jewelry caught his attention. Surely something within this vast treasure Fafnir collected ould be claimed as his own but what was it?
Passing a hill of gold he stopped and saw a comb and necklace of Norwegian make. The more he stared at them the more it made him think about Rossweisse and how he could claim these as his own before presenting them to her. He knew she would refuse them but he would insist she take them for she was deserving of them. After all, she was the one who got them past all those traps and defeated Balog Vassago. If it wasn't for Rossweisse they never would have gotten this far.
Making his decision without hesitation he took both comb and necklace before returning to the others who still were packing away the treasure. Spotting Rossweisse he called out her name and couldn't stop himself from smiling when she paused in her work to see him and what he was holding. Yes, she was definitely going to try refusing the comb and necklace but he would convince her to take it. Before he could open his mouth he saw something behind the Valkyrie and filled him with confusion and a feeling of dread; a bright glow could be seen within the hall. Within the chasm…
Setting aside the gifts he rushed out of the chamber as fast as his legs could take him to the brink of the edge and peer into it. His dread turned to shock and rage. Far, far, in the chasm was a faint glow, a glow that was growing brighter with each second. Thor did not wish to believe it but it was happening as he saw it. Balog Vassago was climbing up the chasm cliff!
This man, this Devil, had been a thorn in there side long enough! It's time to kill him once and for all! He may not be able to use magic but he could still use a blade! Running back into the treasure chamber he looked about before strapping a sword with a sheath to his side and pulling an axe, hammer, and spear from elsewhere. His action had the others looking on in confusion until he told them what he saw and it filled the others with shock and rage.
"He just won't die!" Cadmus yelled, tightening his grip on the spear.
"Not yet." Growled Thor and I intend to make sure he stays dead!"
They all stared at him in shock as Leif said, "Surely you aren't going to face him alone!?"
"ASGARDIANS!
The roar was like a volcano erupting as a great glow lit up the hall.
"Ready yourselves!" Cried Rossweisse, halting her work on the pocket dimension. She had hoped he would be trapped in a deep chasm, or die from the fall, or even fall into the center of the earth. This time she would unleash every spell she knew straight to his face.
Out came the Lord of House Vassago, fire burning over his body like armor. Before he or Rossweisse could cast a spell Thor threw the spear and axe at the Pureblood before rushing forward. Both spear and axe met there mark in Balog's right pec and left shoulder, the pain and force of the attacks caused Balog's grip on edge to weaken. He struggled to keep a hold but lost it when Thor threw himself at the giant flaming Devil. Back into the chasm he fell with Thor following close behind, a sword and hammer in hand.
Down, down the combatants fell fighting eagles for whoever gets to kill. The earth passed by at neck breaking speed and the wind howled like a storm and it whipped about Thor's hair like a cape as flaming hands met hammer and sword. Thor beat hammer and slashed sword anywhere he could reach, blood flowed from each sword strike but evaporated from the fires heat.
If only I had my magic perhaps then I can kill him with a lightning bolt. The prince said to himself as he slammed his hammer into Balog's collarbone. He had hoped absorbing that lightning spell would have helped regain his magic fully. Clearly it didn't so he would have to train if he survived this battle.
…After he survived this battle!
He will survive, he will kill Balog once and for all, and return to Asgard.
Striking the collarbone again with his hammer there was a loud crack and a roar of pain by the horned Devil who answered with an attack of his own. The pain was unlike anything Thor experienced before, it felt like his stomach was pressed against a hot stove. With a powerful thrust of his arm, Thor buried the sword up to its hilt into Balog's chest where his heart was before grabbing him by the throat and slamming his hammer over and over and over again into the noble's face. The bruises soon became wounds as flesh was broken by each attack. One broke Balog's nose and another his jaw making it difficult for him to speak or even roar.
Thor started to feel light headed and weaker in strength, Balog must have ripped open my stomach to gut me. Well I'll show him it takes more than a gut wound to stop me!
Releasing his hold on the Devil, Thor gripped the hammer in two hands ready to deliver a powerful swing to the chest or throat when suddenly he felt a warmness inside him. It wasted blood rather it was something deeper inside him. Focusing on the warmth it grew stronger and this gave him an idea. Forming calculations in his head, joy filled him to see lighting sparking out of fingers around the hammers handle. Remembering a technique from a book, he started flowing magic into the hammer and it soon began sparking with electricity and it filled Balog's eyes with terror.
Yes! Though Thor, tightening his grip more, tremble in fear at the God of Thunder's wrath! This is for Rossweisse and all those you murdered to get Fafnir's treasure you bustard!
With a mighty roar he swung the lightning coated hammer into Balog Vassago's chest and from it came a deafening boom and a bright flash followed by what sounded like splashing water and then all was silent.
New York City
"Let me get this straight, Father Rollo, you took command of our New York division in order to join in a treasure hunt Norse Pagans and Devils were going after?"
Rollo nodded, the physical wounds inflicted by Thor in their duel were healed by the nuns but the pain was still there. The grunts and flinches he was sure not to let anyone see. Especially the third-highest official in the Church, the Cardinal Deacon, Ewald Cristaldi, who was now communicating with him through a video call. The Cardinal Deacon's originally called to ask how the inspect of New York was only to learn from a subordinate of that division of the drama occurring over there. Ewald called Rollo for an explanation and was greatly disappointed at learning the full story.
"Father Rollo, we are tasked with killing Devils, Fallen Angels, Vampires, and demonic creatures that can potentially harm Humans. Not go galivanting after treasure a foreign Pantheon is searching for."
"But they were going after Fafnir's treasure!" Rollo protested, "The treasure of Fafnir holds the greatest riches in the world! If we had obtained it we could have donated to thousands of charities and developed new weapons to battle the forces of evil."
Ewald shook his head, "I'm sure many others would agree to your idea but this treasure does not belong to us. The Dragon King Fafnir never stole anything belonging to us."
And yet we steal from other Pantheons, Rollo said in his head.
"How many of our Exorcists died in this foolhardy quest you took them on?"
"Thirty-four."
"Thirty-four?" Ewald sighed, ""Thirty-four dead to obtain a treasure we do not need." He raised a hand to stop Rollo from protesting, "Father Rollo, the hunt for Fafnir's treasure is not our concern. Now tell me why you stopped your quest for the treasure?"
Rollo did not hesitate, "I lost a duel to Thor."
Ewald blanched in surprise, "You dueled the God of Thunder!? Father Rollo, what made you do such a foolish action? You know what I don't wanna know. Luckily it stopped your treasure hunt."
"I was more than ready to duel him." Interjected Rollo, "I lost because his fighting stance caught me off and was too quick. He was using one of the advanced hand-to-hand stances the Exorcists learn."
This piqued Ewald's interest, "A Pagan God used one of our fighting techniques?"
"Yes. How he knew it I don't know. I thought the Gods of Asgard stayed in the north?"
"He probably learned during encounters with our warriors in Scandinavian before killing them. We know the Gods of the North do not like having us in their territory." Ewald said with a wave of the hand, "Anyway, if you have finished your inspection you will return to France and forget about this treasure hunt. By now it must already be in the hands of Asgard."
Asgard
Thor awoke to find himself lying in bed, a very familiar bed in an equally familiar room.
"Ah." He said aloud to himself, "So I am alive and back in the Freya hospital but what's the day and time?"
"It is Eight o'clock in the night on April the fourteenth."
"Rossweisse!" Cried Thor sitting up.
"Yes I am here." Said the Valkyrie, she was wearing a darker grey suit this time and had a book in her hand. She moved to draw the curtains aside to let the moon's light in, "And you are lucky to be here as well."
"What happened? I'm obviously alive but how far did I fall and what of Balog?"
"Two thousand meters." Rossweisse stated.
Thor's jaw fell, "Two thousand?"
"Yes. You and Balog fell two thousand meters while trying to kill each other. You killed Balog just as you hit the water. The power of your attack coupled with the water conducting the electricity was the killing blow. You killed Balog Vassago."
"Good." Thor sighed with relief glad to hear he was dead, "but how do you know that?"
"After breaking the seals I jumped into the chasm to save you." Her smile became a frown, "That's twice you've put yourself in harm's way to save me. You may be the price of Asgard and the God of Thunder but I am the bodyguard of the royal family. My duty doesn't just belong to your father but to you as well. Anyway, I caught up to you just as you killed Balog and hit the water. The cave filled with steam from Balog's flame making it difficult to see and very hot to travel through. I pulled you from the water, you were unconscious, burnt and bleeding. I couldn't fly you all the way back to the top so I teleported us here where you were tended to by heals immediately. You've been out for three days and two nights. Your wounds and burns were mostly healed."
"Mostly?" Thor asked before pulling his tunic up to see a nasty burn scar across his stomach coating his abs in a pink. Balogs final defiant act before death took him. Lowering his shirt he looked at Rossweisse unaware of the blush upon seeing his abs, "Thank you, for saving me. So while we were here…"
"Sigrun said the Allfather arrived seconds after I followed you. He took over helping Leif in storing the treasure. He even found the superweapon." Rossweisse paused and frowned, "This "superweapon" that was such a big deal is nothing more than a device to make silk underwear."
Thor's eye twitched at the information. The Golden Dragon Kings "superweapon" was in fact a perverted item? He assumed Odin was the reason for making Fafnir a pervert but now perhaps he had been one and it only got worse due to Odin.
He sighed in annoyance, "And what did Odin do with it?"
Rossweisse blew out her breath, "I don't know and I want to know."
They fell into silence before Thor asked, "How long have I been out and what about the others?"
"Three days and two nights. The burns were what needed the immediate treading. As for the others, they are back in Asgard and Mr. Erikson has returned to the Indian reservation with gold to help the repairs from the attack along with jewelry and statues belonging to many tribes in America."
"They will be delighted to have what was taken from them back in their hands." Said Thor, "If I'm being honest, Rossweisse. If We make alliances with other Pantheons perhaps we should return what Fafnir stole from them as a token of good faith."
"As a token of good faith?" Rossweisse repeated, "Some may call that bribery to earn their trust."
"But we're only giving back what rightfully belongs to them."
"And that is a kind gesture, Thor, but stuff that belongs to us cannot be given back. Look at Beowulf or Fafnir. They belong to the Norse Pantheon but they are in the hands of the Biblical Faction; Fafnir is sealed in Azazel's Sacred Gear and Beowulf is a Devil."
Upset at the news about the hero who slayed Grendel, Thor looked out the window to see the moon's light showing him a grassy landscape with a few trees nearby. At least the view in this room was beautiful. A glint of silver drew his attention back to Rossweisse who sat in the chair next to the bed.
"How long will I have to stay here?" He asked to keep his mind off brooding about Beowful becoming a Devil.
"Until you are fully healed."
"At least my stay isn't for nothing. We got the treasure and paid off Nidavillir's debt."
Rossweisse smiled, "And Asgard will be praising you for your actions."
"Praise me? I only came up with the idea. You and Cadmus should be praised for your hard work. He suggested we find Leif to find Gaasyendietha and you unlocked the seals to get us to the treasure and stop Balog from getting it."
"I guess you are right…" Rossweisse muttered with a blush, Thor's laugh deepend the red on her cheeks. Gripping the book tighter drew his eyes toward it.
"What's with the book?"
Aqua eyes brightened, "I'm glad you asked. Since we don't know how long you'll still be here I wanted to read you a story my father read to me as a child for bedtime. It is one of my most favorite books!"
"If it is a book you enjoy then go ahead and read." Said Thor sitting up and eager to listen to the silver haired genius.
Opening the book Rossweisse cleared her throat and began to read.
"In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit."
And so ends the hunt for Fafnir's treasure. I'll be taking a little break to figure out what comes next after this arc. Until then see you all next time!
