Chapter 3: Monster Inspector
Sabrina approaches Scizor carefully and looks up at it. It was notably taller than Bugsy, probably by a foot or so. That explains how he's able to easily ride on its back. "Hello Scizor. My name is Sabrina" She greets herself calmly. "May I have a look at you?" She asks. "Zor." Scizor nods. "Good." Sabrina carefully walks toward Scizor and rubs its right pincer. Scizor seemed to like that. "I actually remember using a Scizor a long time ago. It was only temporary and I don't have it anymore. Gave it away to another trainer." She says. "My memory of caring for this Pokemon is a little… hazy." She tries raising Scizor's arm up but notably struggles. Scizor does the job for her though. "It's entire body feels like metal… right down to the muscles." She never knew that. Bugsy comments. "Yeah! Scizor's muscles are all made of metal, which really helps it move around with that heavy body." He explains. And then he got nerdy. "Did you know that Scizor's pincers actually make up a third of its weight?" He asked. Sabrina raises an eyebrow. "Oh? Go on." She said, to which Bugsy obliged.
"You see, your average Scizor weighs 260.1 lbs, or 118 kg." Bugsy states. Sabrina briefly cuts him off. "I just prefer imperial measurements." She said. Bugsy nods. "Gotcha. Anyway, not only is it taller than the rest, but it's also heavier! Standing at 6'10ft tall and weighing 312 lbs, it's quite the specimen!" Bugsy keeps going. "So, its pincers weigh 104 lbs together. If you were to divide that by half, then each individual pincer is 52 lbs!" Bugsy snaps his fingers as he ends his little rant. "Boom!" Sabrina chuckles at Bugsy's little action as she checks Scizor out more. She looks at its wings in particular, remembering Bugsy's grudge match against Clair. Its wings are retracted right now. "Its wings… I'm impressed it can fly so well." She said as she carefully rubbed them. Bugsy chuckles a bit nervously. "Scizors actually aren't that great at flying, especially compared to Scythers. Although, those guys don't fly very often in the first place. Instead, Scizors use their wings to regulate body heat and move faster in a pinch. It can still glide and hover just fine though." Scizor's wings pop out, startling Sabrina a tad. "Have you trained your Scizor to fly the way it does?" She asks. Bugsy nods. "Mhm! It certainly helps when I gotta get around quickly! And when it Mega Evolves, its flying gets way better! Still not as good as Scyther though." Sabrina rubs Scizor's wings, making it giggle. "Sc-Sciz!"
Bugsy continues. "While on the topic of Mega Evolution, I actually can't get too reckless with Mega Scizor. Sure, it's ultra powerful and looks awesome, but it can't handle the form for too long. The energy of Mega Evolution messes up its ability to regulate its temperature. After a long time passes, Scizor's body gives out from its pincers' weight and it starts to melt. Luckily, I learned a little trick from the Ferrum region trainers and their Scizors. Scizor can turn the overwhelming energy and body heat into more powerful wings that let it fly faster! Although, it's only for a brief time." He said. The mention of Ferrum fascinated Sabrina. She's seen only a handful of Ferrum battles before, but the way trainers move and command their Pokemon was impeccable to her. "Your trust and faith in your bug types are strong, Bugsy. I like that." She said as she pats Scizor's shoulder. It nodded at her, a signal that it has a sense of trust in her as well. "Now then, you may take a look at my Alakazam."
Bugsy walks up to Alakazam and waves. This seemed to make Alakazam snap to attention, as it was left in bewilderment by Bugsy's bug facts. The PSI Pokemon looks at the young man carefully. It was taller than him and Sabrina but shorter than Scizor still, so it looked down at him. Its eyes narrow a little. "Zam…" It said in a low tone. It didn't seem to trust Bugsy that much. Sabrina pipes up. "Calm down, Alakazam." She said, "Bugsy won't hurt you." Alakazam looks at Sabrina and back at Bugsy, who wishes to reach out and touch its mustache. Alakazam allows him to, keeping an eye on him as he did. "So how long have you known Alakazam?" Bugsy asks. "Almost as long as I can remember." Sabrina said, her voice gaining a touch of nostalgia. "Alakazam has been my companion for almost my whole life. I've known him since he was a mere Abra."
Bugsy's hand moves to Alakazam's head. The psychic type relaxes briefly. "Ala…" He said calmly. "Tell me more about this Alakazam, if you don't mind anyway." Bugsy requests as he turns to Sabrina. "I mean, since I nerded out on you, it's only fair I give you the chance to nerd out on me." Sabrina rolls her eyes and laughs a bit. "Oh, alright. I'll tell you some stuff." She said. Time to drop some knowledge.
"My Alakazam is 5'11ft tall. 150 lbs." Her explanation goes on. "Alakazams possess incredibly high IQs that surpass supercomputers. It never forgets a single thing it learns of. Comes in handy when I have to manage a schedule. Its head is a bit large but that's normal for its species. It merely uses psychic power to support it and the rest of its body to move." Bugsy nods and lifts Alakazam's right arm. "Its body feels lighter than I thought!" He comments. "That's because Alakazam's muscular strength is weak, so it relies on its psychic abilities to move around. However, the size of its head is not just an indicator of its age and knowledge, but also its strength. Sometimes the power overflows and can cause a little headache to others. However, I've trained mine to manage it better. Don't worry about it." Sabrina said. "This muscle and mental strength is amplified incredibly under Mega Evolution. It can foresee almost everything with its forehead gem, from its opponent's next move to someone's past, present, and future. However, its muscular strength is completely lost."
Bugsy taps the spoon in Alakazam's hand. It didn't seem to like that, since it immediately retracts its hand. "Kazam!" Alakazam said. "What's with the spoons? I've seen Alakazam use them as weapons in fights." Bugsy questioned. Sabrina smiled. "They're made of psychic power and they're more or less the perfect weapon for a gifted and supergenius level psychic such as Alakazam. On rare occasions, I use one of them to eat my food. Makes everything taste delicious." She giggles a bit. "It only gives them to someone it trusts. So no ice cream nights for you… yet." Bugsy bursts into laughter. "Haha! You mean you eat with those spoons?" He said between his laughs. "I bet when it Mega Evolves, you get all the ice cream in the world!" He added. This made Sabrina snort and laugh as well. "Ahaha! I haven't thought of it that way! Silly, I know!"
Alakazam and Scizor look at one another. The psychic had a look of slight surprise but the bug had one that screamed "I told you so." "Scizoooooor… (Told you he's honest and modest…)" Scizor said. "Alakazam… (So he is…)" Replied Alakazam.
