Kensi had been watching this nonsense for days.
Ever since that op at the warehouse, Callen and Nell had been circling each other like two people afraid to step over an invisible line. And it was driving her insane.
She'd seen how Callen hovered a little more than usual, how his eyes lingered on Nell when he thought no one was looking. And she'd seen how Nell softened when Callen was near, how she would instinctively move toward him like a magnet.
They were both so obviously in love with each other. And for some idiotic reason, neither of them would admit it.
Well, that ends today.
Kensi waited until she caught Nell alone in the bullpen, finishing up some last-minute paperwork. Deeks was conveniently occupied, and Sam was in Ops, which meant there were no witnesses.
She strode over, grabbed Nell by the arm, and started pulling her toward the back of the building.
"Uh—Kensi?" Nell squawked. "What are you doing?"
"You and I are having a chat."
She dragged Nell inside the burn room and shut the door behind them, planting herself in front of it like a guard dog.
Nell folded her arms. "I have work to do."
Kensi arched an eyebrow. "No, you don't. You're just trying to avoid the fact that you're hopelessly in love with Callen and refusing to do anything about it."
Nell's mouth opened. Then closed. Then opened again. "What—"
"Don't what me." Kensi smirked. "I've seen the way you look at him."
Nell let out a nervous laugh. "We work together—"
"Oh, please." Kensi rolled her eyes. "You think you're being subtle, but trust me, you're not. And neither is he."
Nell stiffened. "Callen doesn't—"
"He threw himself in front of a bullet for you, Nell." Kensi's voice softened. "And don't tell me it was just because you were a teammate. Because the way he looks at you? That man would do it a hundred times over if it meant keeping you safe."
Nell swallowed hard, looking away. "That doesn't mean he—"
"Oh my God," Kensi groaned. "Yes. It does."
She could see it now—Nell's mind was racing, trying to rationalize everything instead of just admitting the truth.
So Kensi made a decision.
"You know what? You're not leaving this room until you admit it."
Nell frowned. "What?"
Kensi stepped back, opened the door and locked it from the outside.
"Hey!" Nell rushed forward, grabbing the handle. "Kensi! You can't just lock me in here!"
Kensi smirked through the window. "Watch me."
And then she strolled off to get Callen.
