It was the last day of summer break and Bella hummed happily as Carlisle's hand absentmindedly stroked the top of her feet, which were currently propped on his lap. They'd been reading for about an hour but in the last 10 minutes or so, she'd been distracted. She'd brought one of her romance novels over, trying to convince Carlisle to read it but he'd turned it down. It had been a while since they'd done anything intimate and having just read through a saucy scene in her book, she wanted to fool around.
Playfully biting her lower lip as she hid behind her book, she moved her foot to the side and rubbed it against his crotch. The corner of his mouth quirked up as her foot found his cock, though he pretended not to notice and continued to read his book. She could feel him hardening as she continued to run her foot over his length, but he continued to read.
Pouting, she closed her book and sat up, leaning over and kissing his cheek, then kissing just below his ear. Using her teeth she gently tugged on his earlobe getting a low growl from him. Grinning, she kissed down his neck, one of her hands tracing the other side of his neck and slipping down into his shirt. Carlisle hummed, his free hand coming to rest on her hip as she moved to straddle one of his thighs.
"Are you trying to distract me?" He purred, his hand rubbing little circles on her hip.
Giggling, she ran her tongue up the side of his neck relishing the shudder that ran through him. "Maybe, is it working?"
His hand reached around her cupping her backside giving it a little squeeze. "Maybe."
Pulling back, she gave him a sly smile. "Well, that won't do. I'll have to try harder."
Sliding her hand out of his shirt she traced the contours of his body down his chest and stomach coming to rest on his semi-hard cock. Palming him through his jeans his eyes fluttered closed and his breath hitched. Giving him a squeeze she grinned as his hips gave a little jerk.
"Bella." He moaned softly, his hand gripping her tighter. "I thought you didn't like doing things like this when the others were in hearing distance."
She chuckled laying an open mouth kiss to his neck where it met his shoulder. "I won't be the one making the noises, so I don't mind as much."
Carlisle smiled and a moment later he chuckled. "Emmett says, go get 'em girl."
"I plan to." She gave him a wicked little grin as she moved to the floor between his knees.
His attention was no longer on his book, though it still sat open in his hand, as he watched her. Running her hands up the inside of his thighs, she watched his eyes darken a shade, lust and desire evident in those golden orbs and spilling from the bond. It made her squirm a bit, rubbing her thighs together, as she tried to focus on her task at hand. Undoing his belt, she made quick work of the clasp of his jeans and pulled the zipper down tantalizingly slow.
Pulling the front of his boxers down, she smiled as he sprung free, her eyes greedily taking him in. Gripping him firmly, she ran her hand up the length of him, twisting her wrist at the tip taking the bead of fluid that seeped out to help slick his cock. Several times she pumped him in her fist, grinning as she pulled little sounds of pleasure from him before leaning forward and licking his tip.
He gasped, the book falling from his hand landing with a thud on the floor, his hand gripping the arm of the couch tightly. "Bella, wait. What if I can't control myself? I could really hurt you."
Smiling up at him, she leaned forward. "I trust you."
There was unease in his eyes, and she could feel his concern as she slowly took him into her mouth.
"Oh, lord in heaven." Carlisle moaned out, his head falling back against the back of the couch.
Not wanting to push him too quickly, she started slow. Taking her time, she slowly sunk down his cock, using her tongue to map out the underside of his cock. She couldn't help the moan that escaped her at the feel of him in her mouth, the weight of him against her tongue and the taste of him. It was all perfect and she loved it.
Bobbing her head on his cock she was careful not to take him to deep as he clearly fought the urge to rut up into her mouth. She could hear the fabric of the couch straining as Carlisle's grip tightened on the material as she started working the base of his cock with her hand, his moans coming unabashedly.
Pulling back so just the tip was in her mouth she sucked hard, swirling her tongue over the tip, earning her a strangled moan. Glancing up at him, she almost grinned. Carlisle's eyes were dark and full of lust, mouth open slightly as he panted heavily, his body tense. Dropping back down his cock she bobbed her head faster this time, his moans becoming more insistent as his thighs trembled on either side of her.
"Ah, Bella…I'm close...pull away."
Pulling off his cock with a pop she stroked him a few times before he came with a strangled groan. His head thrown back, mouth gaping as he gasped through his orgasm, her hand pumping him and milking out every drop from him until he shuddered, body going lax.
Giving him a moment to catch his breath, Bella grabbed some tissues from the box she'd left on one of the end tables. Once they were both cleaned up and he did up his pants, Carlisle pulled her onto his lap, cupping her face with a hand and kissing her.
"That was incredible, your incredible, my sweet Bella."
Wrapping her arms around his neck she smiled as his forehead came to rest against hers, eyes closing, while her fingers lightly ran through the short hair at the back of his head. "Glad you liked it."
Carlisle hummed, his fingers brushing against her cheek. After a moment, he chuckled. "Were being rated on our performance."
Bella's face turned bright red. "Oh god, do I want to know?"
"Emmett is mocking me, Jasper says we'll done kid, Edward is groaning at being able to hear my thoughts on the matter, and the girls are going over tips they want to give you for next time."
"Why is Emmett mocking you?" She frowned in confusion.
"For the 'lord in Heaven,' I moaned. He says only I would start a prayer while getting my cock sucked." He chuckled.
She chuckled. "Does he know I got you to curse?"
Carlisle sighed, rubbing his forehead. "He does now, and I can promise you he's going to want details."
Smiling, she gave his cheek a little peck. "Sorry, but I'm leaving that up to you or Edward."
"Gee thanks." Carlisle grinned. "Edward says, not it."
Bella giggled. "Guess that leaves you."
He hummed absently as he rubbed their noses together. "You know the only reason you're not at Alice's mercy right now is me, right? You have a birthday coming up next week and she's dying to have a party."
Her smile faded as she sighed. "Yeah, I know. I'm not getting out of this one, am I?"
"Sorry love, but I agree with her on this one. It's an important milestone."
"Meanie."
They stayed wrapped up in each other for the rest of the day until Edward came to take her home. The next day at school, Alice cornered her about her birthday stating she'd already got everything ready for her party including the dress she wanted her to wear. Bella tried to tell the pixie girl she didn't need to do this, but Alice insisted stating, as Carlisle had, that it was an important milestone for her. So, when the 13th came, she woke to Charlie knocking on her door with two presents in hand.
One was a camera with a bow on top, and the other ended up being a photo album for her to fill up. She wasn't sure what she was going to fill it with, but the idea was thoughtful. They had breakfast together before she headed off to school, having tucked the camera into her bag. Once at school, she forced the Cullens into a few photos for her album, thankfully they didn't complain, and Alice happily took it from her to get one of her and Edward looking like a couple.
After school, she changed into the outfit Alice got her and rode with Edward over to the house. Alice had decorated the house with flowers everywhere, and ribbons and a cake that could easily feed 30 people. Esme was the first in line to hug her, apologizing for Alice's over the top preparations, as she handed Bella an envelope with plane tickets to Phoenix.
"Esme, thank you, but this is too much, you shouldn't have." Bella tried to insist but the woman smiled.
"Nonsense, you've been looking a bit pale. Besides, you haven't gotten to see your mother in a while, you should spend some time with her while you can."
Resisting the urge to fight it, she nodded and accepted the gift. "Thank you, so much."
Emmett came over next, and handed her a wrapped box that felt empty, so she gave it a little shake and it definitely felt empty. Looking at him in confusion he grinned. "New stereo system for your truck, Rose and I already installed it."
Laughing, she set the box aside. "Thanks."
Next came Jasper's gift, and she suspected based on its shape to be a book of some sort. She went to rip the wrapping paper and sliced her finger. With a hiss, she pulled her finger away as a trickle of blood ran down her finger and dripped into the carpet. A low growl came from across the room and as she looked up from her bleeding finger, she saw the feral look in Jasper's eyes as he started to charge her. In a flash, Carlisle was there, pushing her back causing her to trip and fall against the side table with glass vases on it, shattering several of the vases. Carlisle then shoved Jasper away, sending him flying across the room.
The others moved in then as Jasper got back to his feet, ducking under Emmett's swing at him, but Edward caught his arm and yanked him back. Together, Edward and Emmett subdued Jasper as Alice stepped in front of him in an attempt to calm him. Bella watched from her spot on the floor behind Carlisle, holding her now bleeding arm as all eyes in the house turned to her.
Carlisle was the first to move, and in a flash was by her side holding her injured arm as he quickly examined it. "It's not too deep, I can stitch it in my office." Turning towards the others his voice was commanding, leaving no room for argument. "Take Jasper outside for now."
Edward and Emmett escorted Jasper out, as Alice looked in horror, mumbling an apology before leaving. Carlisle and Esme helped her up and Carlisle led her to his office while Esme started to clean things up. Bella felt awful, and it had nothing to do with her bleeding arm. Once in his office Carlisle sat her on his desk before grabbing his medical supplies and got to work cleaning up the wound.
While he worked, Bella gave a little sigh. "I'm sorry, Carlisle, I knew a party was a bad idea."
A small grin tugged at his lips. "Stop that, it's not your fault. Jasper hasn't been away from human blood as long as the rest of us. It's still hard for him at times to control himself."
She watched his face as he worked, she'd never seen him in doctor mode before, it was more intense, focused, than how she normally saw him. Then again, he did tend to act differently around her. "How do you do it?"
The grin widened. "Years and years of practice."
Nodding she watched him work until another question popped into her head. "Did you ever consider doing things the easy way?"
He hesitated as if thinking about it. "No. I knew who I wanted to be, I wanted to help people. Even if I am damned regardless."
"Damned?" She shook her head. "Carlisle you could never be damned, it's just not possible."
Carlisle gave a small smile, giving her a quick kiss, before bandaging up her wound. "Thank you, Bella. We should probably get you home so you can rest."
Shaking her head again, she stood. "I want to talk to Jasper; I want to make sure he's ok."
They headed down to the living room where everyone had congregated, Jasper standing on the far side of the room looking ashamed. When Jasper's gaze caught hers, he quickly looked away and mumbled. "I'm sorry, Bella."
Grinning, she walked over to him after a quick glance at Alice who nodded with approval and hugged him. "Don't be, it's no one's fault. I'm just glad you're alright."
Jasper barked out a laugh, gingerly hugging her back. "You're worried about me after what happened?"
Pulling away she nodded, staring him down. "Yes, because I know you'll blame yourself, and I don't want that. You're my friend, and I don't want you trying to pull away because your worried about hurting me."
He smiled a little lopsided smile at her. "Yes ma'am."
Laughing, she gave him one more hug before turning to Edward. "Shall we?"
Edward nodded and drove her home taking the brunt of Charlie's interrogation as to why she was injured, which he took the blame saying he wasn't fast enough to catch her when she tripped. When Charlie was satisfied with Edward's explanation, he let him go and sent her up to bed to rest. Carlisle showed up an hour later, checked the wound just to be safe, and she went to bed. In the morning, on her nightstand sat a box with a note that said 'Happy Birthday Sweetheart' in Carlisle's neat handwriting. When she opened it, she found a silver necklace with a pendant with the Cullen crest on it. Smiling, she put it on and happily got ready for the day.
Carlisle kept a close eye on her injury over the next two weeks, despite her assurances that she was completely fine, and finally let up as October started and Homecoming mania hit the school. All week there were events happening like pep rallies, football games, a dance and more, all of which Bella tried to avoid. Alice tried to talk her into going to the dance, but she quickly used the tickets to Phoenix as an excuse and later thanked Esme for giving her a good excuse to miss the dance.
The trip to Phoenix was great. She had wanted to bring Carlisle but wasn't sure how to explain her dating a teacher to her mother, so instead she stuck with the lie of dating Edward who was nice enough to travel with her. He ended up stuck in the house most of the time, using the excuse he wasn't good in the heat, which Renee thankfully excepted without fussing. It was nice to get to spend the weekend with her mother, and hoped she'd get a chance over the next few years to make a few more memories with her before her change.
When they returned, life went back to normal, or as normal as it got when your best friends were vampires. As October passed, rumors started to filter through the school of strange sightings out in the woods, mostly on the Quileute reservation. Thanks to her falling out with Jessica, she had been left out of most of the human social interactions, so the information she gleaned was all from her eavesdropping on other people's conversations. Supposedly the sightings were of large bears moving into the area, and though bears weren't uncommon in Forks, people were still concerned about the sightings. Even Charlie ended up warning her about going into the woods while they investigated the bear sightings.
Knowing a family of apex predators, she tried asking Carlisle, Edward, Alice and Jasper about it, but all four were tight lipped about it. She even tried to pester Emmett into telling her, but he too said he couldn't, and she didn't bother trying Rosalie or Esme, as they both said no when they saw her coming. Though they hadn't hung out much, she'd kept in contact with Jacob through the school year and over the summer, so she tried to see if he knew anything. Again, she came up empty handed. Tabling her curiosity, she let it go as Halloween arrived, which she spent watching horror movies with the Cullens and laughing at the way vampires were depicted in the movies.
November rolled by, and soon it was Thanksgiving. Billy had invited them over this year since his daughters weren't going to be there, so that Thursday morning, they headed over nice and early so they could help prepare the dinner. It was a lot of fun getting to hang out with them, everyone pitching in to help make dinner, even Billy and Charlie who spent most of the time watching football helped now and then. When dinner was ready, they all gathered to eat and chat about how things were going for each of them. At the end of the day, they were sent home with leftovers, at Jacobs displeasure as he wanted to save the leftovers for himself, and she and Charlie headed home. The ride was quiet, but she didn't mind.
Near the end of December, about a week from Christmas, she noticed a slight change in the Cullen family. They seemed to be slightly on edge and distracted but when she brought it up, they would smile and say it was probably nothing. She believed them till one night Charlie came home late looking exhausted. When Bella came to greet him and ask how his day went, he told her about a mysterious death over in Port Angeles.
"They claim its an animal attack, but I'm not so sure. Not sure why, but something feels off about it." Charlie told her as he cracked open one of his beers. "Do me a favor Bells and stay away from Port Angeles for a while. Just to give your old man some peace of mind."
"Sure, I'll stay clear for now."
With a nod, they continued to chat about how school was going for her. Later, when she returned to her room, she sat on her bed facing Carlisle. "Do you know what happened in Port Angeles?"
Closing his book, he nodded. "I have a suspicion, yes."
"It wasn't an animal, was it?"
"No." She gave him a pointed look waiting for him to elaborate. Sitting up he gave a soft sigh. "We believe it's a nomad group of vampires, based on the information we were able to get."
Bella felt a chill run through her. She'd known there were others, but now she was being faced with the reality that there were vampires that were not human friendly. "Do we need to worry?"
Carlisle took her hand in his, giving it a little kiss. "You don't need to worry, they likely won't come to Forks, my assumption is they will go to Seattle."
"What makes you think that?" Bella asked, tilting her head.
He shrugged his shoulders. "Just a guess, Seattle would be a better hunting ground for them. So, it would be more appealing than Forks."
Grimacing, she moved closer, Carlisle putting his arm around her. "I guess I got a little to use to your way of doing things, the idea of Seattle being preyed upon by a bunch of vampires isn't really appealing at all."
"No, for me either, but it is the way of our kind. As much as I'd like to change it, most would never give up the taste of human blood." He placed a light kiss to her forehead. "Try not to dwell on it."
With a nod, she tried not to think about it, and after a few days, she was able to put it aside. She didn't like it still, but like Carlisle had said, it was part of their world, she would have to learn to deal with it. Thankfully, Christmas break started, and she became distracted helping Charlie put up the tree and decorate the living room a bit. Alice also came over to help her pick out a gift for Carlisle. After a lot of debate and compromise, they settled on a first edition of a book Bella couldn't even begin to pronounce as it was in a dialect she wasn't sure existed anymore, but Alice assured her he'd love it.
Christmas day, Edward made an appearance to exchange gifts in which he'd gotten her a nice bracelet and she'd gotten him a bunch of sheet music she knew he didn't have, having raided his stash when he was out hunting one day. She knew it wasn't much, but Edward still smiled like it was the greatest gift ever. They hung out at the house for a while until it was time to head over to the Cullen house. Bella felt guilty leaving Charlie alone on Christmas, but the man insisted he'd be alright on his own and for her to have fun.
Since she didn't have a lot of spending money, she'd asked the other Cullens not to give her anything as she felt bad that she couldn't reciprocate and even though Alice had told her they didn't mind, Bella did mind. She had needed Alice's assistance in purchasing the book for Carlisle as it was, she would feel awful having to have the girl help her buy the other's gifts with their own money. She'd considered getting a job, but Charlie had told her he'd prefer her to focus on her schoolwork and she knew if she asked, he'd give her spending money. The problem was, she didn't want to ask.
No, she would get by on the money Renee would deposit into her bank account each month. It wasn't much, but she could make do. So, as they arrived at the Cullen house, Bella hoped they'd kept their words about not getting her anything, though she knew Carlisle would be an exception. There was nothing that would stop him and she knew it. They all gathered in the living room as Edward sat at the piano and started playing music, while the other couples started sharing gifts with one another.
Bella nervously handed over the wrapped book to Carlisle, who beamed in excitement when he opened it. He started to tell her the history behind the book before Emmett scoffed about getting a history lesson while not at school. Everyone laughed. Carlisle set the book aside and handed her a gift bag, which was smart given how her birthday had gone. Inside, she found a new phone. Her jaw dropped, it was brand new and the latest model.
She'd been complaining about her old one but hadn't expected him to get her a new one. Accepting the gift, she decided not to argue that it was too much, he looked so happy and excited for her, she just couldn't take that away from him. They spent the rest of the night watching Christmas movies and chatting about what they hoped to do in the next year.
New Year's Eve she spent alone with Carlisle, Charlie having to work late thanks to the likely increase in drunk drivers, giving her and Carlisle the house to themselves. They took full advantage of the time alone until Bella finally fell asleep around 1 am. She hoped the new year would be just as good as last year had been, or better. As long as she had Carlisle, she was sure it would be a good year.
