As the sun dipped lower in the sky, casting brilliant streaks of orange and pink across the horizon, Ariel held her daughter tightly, feeling a rush of gratitude for the life they were creating. And in that magical moment, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the promise of love, Ariel knew they were both exactly where they belonged. Suddenly, she heard a light tap at the door, but she didn't flinch. Instead, she let the warmth of her contentment fill her. The door softly opened the rest of the way now, revealing Eric standing there, a wide smile spreading across his face. ''Hey there, my two favorite girls,'' he said, his voice a soothing balm amid the excitement outside. The gentle light caught the glint in his soft blue eyes, as he stepped into the room. Kneeling down beside Ariel, as he gently stroked Melody's little cheek. Ariel slowly turned her attention to Eric, taking in his appearance for what it was, a striking one. His skin held a tight completion to it that seemed to complement his slightly already tanned skin, a testament to his many days spent sailing under the sun. His dark black hair fell in tousled waves, brushing just above his shoulders and lending him a carefree, adventurous air. He wore a white, cream - colored shirt, the fabric billowing slightly, giving it a relaxed elegance. The long sleeves were rolled up to his elbows, revealing strong forearms that had weathered countless nautical adventures.

His pants were dark, fitting snugly yet comfortably, tucked nearly into thigh, polished black boots that reached his mid-calf.A vivid red sash wrapped around his waist, contrasting beautifully with the lighter tones of his shirt, and accentuating his athletic build. The sash not only served as a stylish accessory but also hinted at his adventurous spirit, reminiscent of a pirate's flair while still embodying the dignity he held as the king. The sight of the two most important people in his life filled him with a sense of purpose and pride, and he couldn't help but smile as he took in the warm moment. ''Look at her,'' he marveled, his voice soft with affection. ''I can see so much of you in her.'' Ariel's heart swelled at his words, each sentiment depending the bond they shared as a family. ''Hey, you too,'' she smiled. ''She's got your eyes, and your hair.''

Eric chuckled softly, a blend of pride and joy lighting up his features. "That's the best of both worlds, then." He leaned closer, brushing his lips gently against Melody's forehead, earning a delighted giggle from her as she gazed back at him with wide eyes. "Did you come to tell us we can't keep hiding anymore?" Ariel asked playfully, arching an eyebrow at him as she leaned back in her chair. There was a playful glint in her eyes, a subtle challenge mixed with the warmth of their shared laughter. Eric smirked, as he crossed his arms as he stood tall beside her, clearly embracing his role not just as a husband but a father ready to step into the spotlight. ''Well, the celebration waits for no one! We can't keep our guests wondering where their queen and little princess have gone too. Besides, I think they're all eager to meet you, Melody.'' Ariel let out a soft sigh, knowing he was right. The festivities were calling, but she found it hard to pull away from this moment of bliss. "I know, I know. It's just so easy to get lost in the little things."

"Let's not lose sight of them," Eric replied, his voice warm and reassuring. "But we don't have to rush, either. Just a few more moments with our little girl won't hurt." With that, they exchanged smiles, both savoring the tranquility before diving into the joyful chaos of the celebration ahead.

As she felt her mother's gentle touch against her cheeks, baby Melody cooed softly, her smile beaming as she gazed adoringly at her parents. Beside her, Eric stood proudly, his heart overflowing with the love for his wife and little princess, as hand in hand they finally emerged from the room, the crowd outside on the deck, instantly falling silent at the sight of them. Gasps and whispers spread out among the guests as they beheld baby Melody, a vision of purity and innocence. Joy and wonder filled the deck as guests gathered around, their faces lit up with smiles and admiration for the newborn princess. They marveled at her tiny features, delicate fingers, and the oceanic curiosity in her eyes, though she had her father's eye color, she also had her mother's spirit. ''Ariel!'' Ariel's eyes instantly lit up as she made out the features of her oldest sister, matching the voice perfectly. Attina. The sight of her sister brought a rush of emotions and memories to rush up to the surface as she was about to break the distance between them, out of nowhere, she noticed Attina put her hand up to stop her, confusion filling Ariel's eyes, until she saw a magical, golden, light shone from the over the side of the ship. She knew right then and there who that light belonged to.

King Triton. King of all of Altantica, and her father. As the magnificent figure emerged from the depths, from a literal wave of water he had propelling him up and out of the water. Triton's long, flowing beard glimmered like the sea foam, and his deep golden trident sparkled with the power of the entire ocean. With a graceful wave, he raised his trident high, channeling its magic to transform the royal family's attire in a dazzling display of mystique. A cascade of shimmering light enveloped Ariel and Eric, shifting their garments into stunning ensembles befitting the royal affair. Ariel's normal white dress, transformed into a teal-green ball gown, as glittering purple seashells appeared on her ears. The sweetheart neckline and puffed sleeves accentuated her beauty, highlighting the uniqueness that made her both a queen and a daughter of the sea.

At her side, Eric's attire transformed as well. His long dark hair caught the light as he donned a striking light-blue tunic adorned with intricate designs reminiscent of the waves themselves, with puffed sleeves that flowed elegantly. A small music note ornament gleamed proudly on his chest, symbolizing his connection to Ariel and to Melody. As the transformation settled, Ariel turned to Eric, their gazes meeting with a spark of wonder and romance—each clearly enamored with the other. In that moment, they marveled at the beauty encapsulated in their little girl, Melody, whose tiny features were brimming with oceanic curiosity. Melody had her father's striking eye color, yet her mother's adventurous spirit shone brightly through her expressions. "Father!" Ariel exclaimed, her voice filled with awe and happiness as she turned her attention back to the dazzling figure of King Triton. Then slowly Attina came over to join everyone. But she did not come by herself. Ariel's eyes perked up the moment she noticed the striking, young man, who had his arm looped with her sisters. As Attina came closer, Ariel's eyes got sight of how beautiful she was. Attina was as radiant as ever, her long, flowing hair elegantly styled in a sophisticated bun that accentuated her delicate features. The light danced off her coral, peach-colored dress, which featured a darker bodied that hugged her gracefully before cascading into a wide skirt layered to emphasize fullness. It was the king of gown that evoked both elegance and charm, perfect for a royal celebration.

A delicate necklace adorned her neck, adding a touch of refinement to her look. But it was the man beside her sister that truly captivated Ariel. He had light skin and warm brown hair that framed his face in a way that spoke of youthful vitality. He wore a light beige, long sleeved shirt that subtly contrasted with Attina's vivid dress, paired with green pants and a light-green sash resembling Eric's red sash from his previous outfit. His brown boots grounded him, making him appear both approachable and charming. His posture was confident yet inviting, suggesting he was well-acquainted with the joyous spirit of revelry. As he walked closely beside Attina, their arms elegantly looped together, Ariel could sense a palpable connection between them, similarity like the connection she felt between herself and Eric. Their bodies moved in sync, as if caught up in a rhythm of laughter and delight promise a shared affection and warmth as they finally came up, joining everyone. ''Happy anniversary!'' shouted Attina, a bright smile hitting her face as she pulled her youngest sister into a tight embrace.

''Attina! I can't believe you made it! It's been so long since we've seen each other!"

"Are you kidding? I wouldn't miss this for the world, little sister," Attina replied, her voice a soothing melody that brought back cherished memories of their old underwater home. Ariel felt the warmth of those memories enveloping her as if they were at the bottom of the sea, surrounded by the soft currents and shimmering light filtering through the water. "Attina, it's so great to see you again!" said Eric, his bright blue eyes lighting up as they found Attina. He stepped forward with an outstretched hand, his demeanor both warm and welcoming. "You haven't changed a bit. Still the same beautiful sister I remember from the Christmas celebration last year.'' Attina laughed softly, a sound that danced through the air like the gentle tinkling of chimes. "And you, Prince Eric, are still as charming as ever. It's hard to believe how much time has passed since our last gathering."

''Attina, aren't you going to introduce us to your handsome plus one?'' Ariel teased playfully, nudging her sister slightly with a wink. The light atmosphere filled the air as Ariel slowly brought Melody closer to her grandfather, King Triton, allowing the adults to catch up and chat in the vibrant swirl of festivities. As Ariel approached Triton, she felt Melody wriggle in her arms, instinctively reaching out to her grandfather with tiny fingers. Triton's expression softened as he knelt down to meet the little one's gaze, his blue eyes twinkling with pride. "Ah, my sweet Melody!" he exclaimed, his voice booming yet gentle. "You are a true treasure of the sea. Look how bright you shine!" Triton lifted his powerful hands, gently cupping Melody's face, and the baby cooed in response, clearly enchanted by the attention. The warmth exchanged between them was palpable, binding their hearts as they shared a moment of connection. ''Ariel, Eric, this is Aiden," Attina introduced, her voice laced with pride. "He's been a wonderful addition to our family, and I couldn't be happier."

"Aiden, it's a pleasure to meet you," Ariel said warmly, offering a friendly smile as she held Melody securely in her arms. "Attina has spoken so highly of you."

"Thank you, Your Highness," Aiden replied, bowing slightly, his brown hair falling just above his eyes. "I've had the honor of hearing many tales about this family, and I'm excited to finally see it all in person." Eric stepped forward, extending his hand to Aiden. "And it's great to have you here to celebrate with us. Attina is lucky to have you by her side." Aiden smiled as he shook Eric's hand, the bond of camaraderie forming between them. "I feel equally lucky. Your family is incredible, and that baby there is a star in her own right," he said, nodding towards Melody, who continued to babble playfully. "Amazing how quickly she's growing," Attina added, her voice filled with affection as she watched her sister's eyes light up at the compliment. "Time truly flies...'' With Triton looking on, a soft smile on his face, the family felt a renewed sense of unity as they surrounded themselves in laughter and stories, catching up on the moments they missed. ''Yeah, about that. How come our other sisters didn't come with you tonight? I would have thought they'd want to come and celebrate with us.'' Ariel said, sadly. Attina exchanged a glance with Aiden then her father, her expression becoming solemn, replacing all the happiness. ''They had their own commitments tonight,'' she began gently. ''Some are busy with their roles in different parts of Atlantica, while others are currently exploring new opportunities. Alot's changed since you left, Ariel. But believe me, it weighs on them, not being able to be here tonight.''

Ariel's heart sank a little further at that response, missing the familiar faces of her sisters and the close-knit bond they once shared. "I just wish we could all be together," she said softly, holding Melody close as if trying to gather the warmth of their family in that one embrace. Triton, sensing her longing, chimed in at the perfect timing, as he usually did, his voice comforting. "Life carries us on many currents, my daughters. Each of your sisters is embarking on her own journey, but that doesn't diminish the love we share. They'll be with us in spirit tonight, and I know they're thinking of you, wishing they could be here." Ariel looked up at her father, appreciating his wisdom. "I know, Father. It's just… our gatherings used to feel complete with everyone here." Attina, always the compassionate sister, placed a reassuring hand on Ariel's shoulder. "We can make tonight special in their honor. We can share stories about them, celebrate what makes each of us unique. It's not just about being together physically; it's about holding each other close in our hearts.''

''That's a wonderful idea,'' Eric chimed in, eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. ''Just think about it honey, you could recreate some of your favorite family traditions with us, I'm sure Melody would love to be a part of it! And I bet there are plenty of stories to be told.''

''I suppose you're right.''

As Triton held Melody tightly against his hairy chest, telling her the wonders of the ocean, Ariel felt a flicker of hope twinkling amidst all the uncertainties she had been feeling previously. Maybe tonight, admits all the love and laughter from friends and family alike, they could forget, and create some new memories. Maybe. Letting out a deep breath caused by anxiety and stress, she stepped closer into the circle of love, ready to embrace it, as she accepted Eric's supportive embrace around her shoulders, a being of comfort as he usually was, as she found herself finally able to let down her guard as she began to enjoy the party. But deep down inside, there would always be a bit of resentment towards her sisters for not being able to show up on an important celebration. What kept them from coming?
