1. Meeting?

Harry was not happy. The so called meeting with the Home Secretary had not gone as well as he had hoped and now he had to prepare to deal with the nightmare that was the JIC.

"Harry."

He looked up as Ruth walked into the office he now shared with Ros. The look on her face left no room for argument. He sighed heavily.

"The Cousins are making their presence felt." She looked over the Grid where Adam and Ros seemed to be having a heated discussion with their CIA counterparts.

"I like this situation as much as they do." Harry shrugged. "But his Royal Highness did invite the Great Tangerine One for a State Visit. So, until he has been and gone we are to entertain our guests."

"Well." Ruth smirked slightly. "I hope for their sake its sooner rather than later. Section Leader Garcia is not going to last two minutes with Ros."

"Shame." Harry smirked as he pulled his coat on. "I have to go."

"Have fun." Ruth smirked as he rolled his eyes before leaving the office and beckoning Ros to join him.

"Leader of the free world?" Ros huffed as she headed to the car as Harry kept his own counsel. "You know he wants a desk in your office?"

"Our office." Harry corrected as he stepped into the 4X4. "We have to work with them. I would rather we all survive the encounter intact and you get through this without the need for blood pressure medication."

"Harry."

He shook his head. "Garcia is a jumped up, narcissistic little pillock. But he is intelligent. And, with the way the relationship with the Cousins is at the moment we need to be careful. Give way on harmless things but not the important. Let him think he is getting his own way." He pulled the car out into the London traffic.

"I've been doing that for years, Harry." Ros smirked knowing that she was going to have to bite her tongue if they were going to get what they needed to ensure that the State Visit went to plan. She just hoped the King appreciated the lengths they went to in order to make sure he still had a country to rule.

Erin left the bakery with the small bag of pastries and cakes she had collected. It was her turn to get the treats in but it had also given her a reason to get off the Grid when Ros and Adam were about to explode. She knew they were in the right and Ros had always been territorial. The Grid was as much her home as her workplace but having a boyfriend in the CIA was enough to make her duck her head under the line of fire. Mentally going through the list of purchases - Malcolm's custard slice, Lucas chocolate donut, Catherine sugar donut, Beth diet coke, Tariq cheese and onion pasty she stepped into the road. Screams and the screech of tyres as her head hit the pavement were the last thing she heard before the world went black.
