53 Days 2nd Cylon war

Patrol grid 3.14

Battlegroup Retribution

Commander Robert Heys grinned as the last of the Cylon fighters exploded under the Arachne carrier Backstab's guns; his small fleet had been scouting the now defunct Armistice line to locate where the retreating Cylons had gone. During the fleet's searches they were almost constantly under attack from raiders who would jump in and flush their missiles before jumping away.

The only thing that saved them was each of the fifteen nimble Nemesis corvettes in the fleet had a pair of UNSC Rampart guns installed; the corvettes were arranged in a protective sphere around the other nineteen ships of the fleet. While the ten Talon class frigates had four of the Ramparts installed they were unable to maneuver quickly enough to bring them all to bear.

Robert watched as the CAP of the Backstab and the other pair of carriers came in for landings. Their pilots were beginning to wear down; he knew not that it showed in the last twenty four hours they had shot down nearly three hundred raiders at the loss of eighteen of their own.

"Once we check this next planet we will head back to Colonial space for resupply and reinforcements." Robert said to his XO.

"Yes sir." Colonel Rebecca Willis replied "we could use some help there's lots of space for the cylons to hide."

"My thoughts exactly now let's get the last jump under way to check the planet of Orion." agreed Robert "do we have any information on Orion?"

"Unfortunately nothing modern Orion was abandoned early in the first war, dry climate, three landmasses and vast oceans." replied Rebecca "population under a million."

Robert nodded as the fleet jumped and reappeared over Orion just as he was about to call for a report.

"DRADIS contacts 030 carrom 221" yelled a lieutenant "raiders FTL'ing in twelve make that twenty seven raiders."

The Ready vipers already in their tubes launched at the same time as the CAP. Robert watched as the nearest corvette opened fire with its Rampart getting two quick kills before the rest of the fleet opened fire as well.

It was practically automatic at this point Robert didnt even have to issue orders. He smirked as the Backstabs' own guns opened up and erased a stray raider. The fight was over in less than four minutes as the last surviving raider jumped away leaving the human ships alone.

It didn't take long to survey the planet no power sources, no people, no human activity or cylon.

"Mark Orion off the list, nothing here." signed Robert "lets head back to Colonial space."

Retribution wasted no time in collecting their raiders and started the two day journey back to Picon. Arriving without issue.

During the fleet's resupply and maintenance by shipyard personnel the crew had a twenty four hour shore leave aboard the luxury liner Oasis of the stars while Robert met with a new task force's commander to join him on scout and patrol duties along and beyond the line Task force Tiger.

Tiger's commander was his Younger brother Hank Heys. After a brief family reunion and catching up the two plotted out fourteen worlds to check along and beyond the line they headed back out. While independent commands Tiger and Retribution would be under the command of Robert.

Robert looked over Tiger's roster and nodded for a new force; it was small, only forty one ships the largest and Hanks flagship the Atlas Carrier Leto was at its heart twenty five Manticores and fifteen Berserks gave them a heavy fighter screen. After consulting with Chairmen Turner in charge of the shipyards they pushed their deparcher back a day in order to add a pair of Ranger missile cruisers to Tigers roster.

Three days later Retribution and Tiger headed back to the line and their search.

POV change

Task force Hybrid

Commander Noel Greyrat stood on the bridge of the Hybrid Berzerk assault carrier Phobos. Looking around at the mixed human and alien crew still shaken at the existence of aliens the bridge was filled with tech he could of only dreamed of holographic displays and controls showing a detailed view of his five ship command forward to port was the hybrid Manticores Cerberus and Scylla and off to port was Harpy and Siren. Off in the distance he could see the Dream of Virgon sitting next to the Artemis.

Word was a handful of Kig-yar and Ungoy were trained in the use of the forges so there was a good chance the under construction ships would be modified to carry energy and plasma weapons. What was holding the main focus of the admiralty was the Chromjim needed for shield generators, but the weapons and armor didn't need shielding.

Noel had heard of nearly two hundred Colonial Heavy freighters being outfitted as mining and survey ships in the hopes of finding the Chromjim the forges needed. And they were even being loaded with surplus Vipers as more and more Longswords were produced.

He stopped in the hangar and looked at the purple fuselage of the alien fighters that made up part of Phobos's air wing. Joel remembered the briefing he had read on them Banshees.

The single man fighters were ten meters long making them slightly smaller than the average Viper. Armed with a pair of plasma cannons for general use and a heavy fuel rod gun. The plasma cannons drew power directly from the fission power plant. The heavy fuel rod gun however was magazine fed a sensitive mix of radioactive and explosive material in a transparent shell. Joel had watched a Seraph from the Hawaii during the battle of Scorpia take on multiple Base ships and other cylon ships with ease.

These five ships with the modifications the pirates had added made them more powerful than any other colonial warship they had. The Phobos cannons had been removed and replaced with the alien plasma and laser weapons he had seen on UNSC melt through Cylon ships like they were made of paper. He walked the halls eyes still drawn to the alien Kig yar and Unggoy species of the ship's four hundred man crew; only two hundred were human.

"Commander?" said a voice to his left he turned and saw the scarred beak of Gah'uk who had been given a temporary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Colonial navy. "The fleet is ready to move on your orders."

"Very well Colonel." replied Noel "you have been briefed correct?"

"No, Commander." the alien said snapping its beak

Noel rolled his eyes but said "long story short is the technicians and cylon rebels were able to bypass the firewall in their resurrection ship and traced a weak data stream to somewhere they call the colony. We will be tracing it. It will serve as a shake down cruise for these ships and their crews as well."

"Very well commander." said Gah'uk "we will obey your commands as our lord Unity wished of us."

The two worked their way back up to the bridge just as the two Pelicans carrying the last of their crew docked. "Let's find where they are hiding this colony of theirs." Noel said "Jump"

Hey guys hope you have enjoyed some of the world building I've been doing. Next up we will be going back to Kobol and the situation there. I hope everyone is enjoying the story and will keep reading and reviewing and maybe tell friends that like the stories of halo and battlestar galactica to check me out.

Reviews

Frost yeah honestly to basically kidnap people and force them to leave their families behind sounds dumb as hell in my opinion one engineer with nothing to lose after being ripped from his/her family does something mechanically wrong and reactor overload BOOM it would of been much better to take everyone with you and in a state of emergency every able bodied man woman and child has been drafted honestly that's what the galactica should of done have starbuck and apollo set up training rooms to teach people how to fly vipers and raptors hell once they were trained send a couple raptors with engineers and pilots to wrecks of colonial warships to grab stuff maybe even cut off some of the intact weapons so the galactica could come in scoop them and the salvage and jump slowly start arming some of the civilian ships let's be honest Colonial1 would have made a excellent escort carrier a couple of fast firing KEW cannons and a short squadron of vipers and a single raptor the colonial movies we SAW them be used as improvised carriers…. Anyway keep reading hope you enjoy

Guest honestly i thought about using the pegasus as a fire ship but decided against it it would of felt like the pegasus was trying to clear its name and 1 right doesn't undo who knows how many wrongs because i bet Scylla wasn't her only victims she could of left thousands to die after stripping their ships and stealing some of their crew. Training people would have been 100x better than being understaffed the whole time. As for the 6 agreed there are alot of grey areas in a survival war like what we saw but R word prisoners that's a line that shouldn't be crossed.

Guest yeah i did made me miss playing BSG online lol

shadow ….holy translator batman ok,

You're welcome and honestly I agree she got off light but I was striving for realism and I feel that in that position even her own crew would turn on her no matter how fanatic. Facing down the entirety of task force Eagle and warning shots from unknown weapons removing half of your firepower before you even get the chance to fight while also being outnumbered in fighters some of them unknown. As for escape that doesn't fit Cain's persona she was a very in your face lets fight but in an intelligent way kind of woman. Her crew respected her too much. I think the people she abducted were terrified. I don't think her crew would've followed an order to nuke the colonies filled with people with no cylon in sight.

No because if they all just died the colonial government and the people would never find closure the guilty would just be dead when their trial comes i want the people they left for dead to be there looking them in the eyes i want the pegasus crew to watch their people listen and watch the recordings from the Pegasus computers be replied for everyone to watch what they did.

As for needing every ship they can get their hands on…..i guess it is about time to post an updated ship roster for both the UNSC and Colonials huh? I'll do that immediately next before getting back to the story. The idea of being used as a sacrificial point ship would feel like a cheap way for them to atone for their crimes in my opinion. And once they die with whatever honor they feel like it would feel empty. Thanks, I hope you continue to read and enjoy.
