Chapter 10: Desperate Measures
Anne woke with a sharp gasp, pain lancing through her skull as she struggled to sit up. The room spun for a moment before settling into a horrible, aching clarity. Sylvia.
Her heart pounded as memories crashed into her—Victor. His smirk. His voice. The terror in Sylvia's eyes before she had lost consciousness. Her daughter was gone.
Panic surged through her as she scrambled for her phone, fingers trembling. There was only one person she could call. Someone who had promised to protect Sylvia.
Wonder Woman. She barely registered hitting the call button before the line connected. "Diana," Anne choked out, her voice breaking. "He took her. Victor took Sylvia. We have to find her before it's too late!"
On the other end, Diana's voice was immediately firm, laced with worry. "Anne, listen to me. We will find her. Stay where you are. I'm on my way." Anne pressed a hand to her forehead, fighting the waves of nausea and fear. "You don't understand. He could be doing anything to her. She agreed to go with him to protect me, but he won't stop there. He will want to break her." Diana's voice softened, but the steel in it remained. "He won't succeed. Sylvia is strong. But we won't let her face him alone."
Within moments, a rush of wind signaled Diana's arrival. The Amazon warrior stepped through the broken doorway, her expression grim as she took in the scene. "Tell me everything you remember." Anne swallowed hard, forcing herself to focus. "He was waiting for her. He made her choose. She went willingly, but only to protect me. I don't know where he took her." Diana placed a reassuring hand on Anne's shoulder. "We will find her. I'll call in the League. We'll track him down." Anne's eyes burned. "Bring her back, Diana. Please."
Diana nodded solemnly, already reaching for her communicator. "We're not going to let Sabretooth win. Not this time." As Wonder Woman's message went out to the Justice League, the war to reclaim Sylvia had begun.
Short I know be patient more is on the way but writing speed will be slower as my time has more demands on it.
