Adrinette April 2025
Day #17: Confession
Maybe it wasn't a good idea to come back to Paris. After the stunt Felix pulled, making everyone under the light of his Red Moon amok disappear and his epic fight with Ladybug, all eyes were going to be out for him.
But he needed eyes on Adrien and Kagami. He had to make sure they were safe.
He had to prove to them that he was on their side. That he was fighting for their happiness and freedom.
But after losing his cousin's beloved Marinette, they both had been furious with him.
He needed to make things right. One way or another.
To help him keep track of the two, Felix—as Argos—created two new amoks in the form of two ordinary-looking pigeons; one to follow Adrien around, one to follow Kagami. Both made with super-sensitive hearing and sight, Argos could see whatever they saw and hear whatever they heard. Meanwhile, he could stay hidden somewhere safe in the city and come to their aid if he really needed to.

About a week into his observations, things were calm. Nothing too crazy had happened since the Diamond Dance. Certainly nothing serious enough for him to reveal his presence to help them.
Still, he remained vigilant.
One day, just as the sun was about to set, his senti-pigeon was flying along the street, following Adrien as he walked home, holding hands with Marinette. They both looked so happy.
When they approached the gate, they both stopped and stared at the gate with sad eyes before looking back at each other.
Argos knew why. He knew Uncle Gabriel didn't want his son seeing Marinette. It simply wasn't fair. Marinette was a good person and if she made Adrien happy, then that was all that mattered.
He saw the gate open a bit and then Uncle Gabe opened the mansion's front door.
"Adrien! Come inside at once, please," he called out.
"I'm sorry, Marinette," Adrien said to his love.
"It's fine," she said with a sad smile. "I'll see you tomorrow." And with that, she released his hand, turned around, and began walking back the way they came. Adrien stared at her with longing before entering through the gate, which closed with a heavy clank behind him.
The senti-pigeon was supposed to be keeping an eye on Adrien. But he was safely at home—even if Gabriel was in there too. It was Marinette Argos was concerned about.
She looked very sad to be turned away because of his uncle, and she was walking home all by herself. She was important to Adrien, so her safety and well-being was important to him too. Plus, after scaring Adrien and Kagami when he somehow lost Marinette during his Red Moon attack, he needed to prove to them that he had a heart and would fight for the bluenette princess as much as they would.
So, Argos ordered his senti-pigeon to follow Marinette.
Marinette walked all the way back to the movie theater she and Adrien had just been at. Her pink moped was parked in front. She put on her helmet, hopped on, and headed for home. The senti-pigeon still following after her.
Nothing crazy happened during her journey. Just as the sun was gone and it was starting to get dark, Marinette parked and entered her home. Now that he knew she was safe, Argos should have ordered his creation to leave her be. But for some reason, he thought to make it stay. Just sit on top of a neighboring building's roof for a minute more.
And he was glad he did, because five minutes after Marinette entered her home, she was climbing up to her balcony on the roof.
Through the senti-pigeon's eyes, he could see her leaning against her railing with a sad face. Her eyes looked pink as well. Like she had been crying a bit. And it looked like she just might start again any second.
Argos's heart cracked at the sight. She should be with Adrien right now. Instead, they had been forced to say goodnight early, all because of his controlling uncle.
He wanted so badly to intervene, help them in some way, but he didn't see how he could.
Should he approach Marinette? Offer to sneak her into Adrien's room? He had super powers. He should be able to help them see each other somehow.
A sudden and very unexpected presence jumped in out of nowhere, landing right on the railing close to the sad bluenette.
It was Chat Noir.
"Evening, princess," the feline hero said. His usual charming greeting. "I hope I didn't startle you."
"Chat," Marinette greeted him back as kindly as she could, trying hard to push away her glumness for him. "No. I'm…I'm fine," she said with poorly masked gloom.
Argos was flabbergasted. What was he doing there?!
"You don't sound fine," Chat Noir said with a frown. "Everything okay?" Of course, he knew everything was not okay. He saw the look on her face after she left him at his house. She hated having to leave him so suddenly. And without even a farewell kiss on the cheeks because his father had been watching them. Which was why he had felt the strong urge to transform, jump out his window, and come over to check on her. If she was so sad she attached an akuma, he'd never forgive himself. Or his father. Chat jumped from the railing and stood on her left side, looking out at the city with her. "How are things with you and Adrien?" he asked, deciding not to beat around the bush.
It wasn't as if Chat Noir didn't know who she was seeing now.
Marinette hesitated for a second. "Adrien and I are…" she stopped again. She and Adrien were in love and it was great. But things were not great. She knew his father had a problem with her, what specifically, she did not totally understand, but it was making her feel inadequate to be Adrien's girlfriend, which was exactly how she used to feel before. She tried her best to remember that Adrien still loved her no matter what Gabriel thought, but her old insecurities were slowly rearing their ugly heads without her permission. Plus, she missed Adrien when they had to cut their time together short. "We're good. But-" she managed to get out.
Chat didn't need to be told anything else to understand that she was sad about him. "I'm so sorry, princess. I wish I could make you feel better," he said, reaching out and covering one of her hands on the railing with his own. Argos watched, even more flabbergasted. Why was he holding her hand?! The question burned to much in Chat's mind to ignore. "Do you still love him?" he asked. If she was having doubts about her feelings or if she still wasn't sure if they were right for each other, he had to know so he could fix it.
Marinette's head snapped in his direction before ripping her hand away from him and taking a step back. "What? Why would you ask me that?!" she said, somewhat outraged.
Chat, realizing that may have been too intrusive, raised his hands up in a peaceful gesture. "I'm sorry! I was just curious and kind of worried," he calmly explained. "I can't stand to see my biggest fan so gloomy."
Marinette took a breath and calmed down. "Chat, I know you mean well but you can't come over here and talk like that to me," she replied, a bit calmer. Then she hugged herself and glanced away. She couldn't get swept away with her lingering feelings for her partner now that she and Adrien were slowly but surely becoming official. Even with the issues they were running into. "I know we kissed, but we can't be together," she reminded him.
Argos gasped, then his whole body tensed with rage.
THEY DID WHAT!?
"I-I know that. I'm sorry for making you uncomfortable," Chat tried to apologize. He wasn't Adrien right now. He just loved her so much, it was hard to remember that he needed to back it down when he was wearing his mask. He took a cautious step toward her. "I just want to make sure you're okay."
Marinette sighed and looked up at him again. "And it's sweet of you to worry, but I don't think there's anything you can do."
"Chat Noir!" Both teens jumped at the sudden angry outburst that cut through the quiet night. The feline hero turned just in time to see a dark blue figure coming at him to attack. He jumped out of the way, landing on the street below. The figure, having missed his target, landed on the balcony railing. Marinette backed away in shock at the sight of the peacock miraculous holder right in front of her. "Stay the HELL away from her!" he yelled down to the street.
"Argos!?" Chat Noir and Marinette both cried, surprised to see him back again.
The peacock anti-hero jumped down from the railing and landed on the street with Chat, facing him down for a fight.
"How dare you try to go after my cousin's girlfriend! She's not yours to flirt with!" he hollered before running at him with his fan drawn.
Chat instinctively reached behind him for his baton and extended it into a staff, blocking the attack. "It's not like that!" he said, jumping back, going on the defensive.
"I heard everything! She's your biggest fan!? You two kissed!?" Argos hollered, delivering strike after strike which Chat either blocked or dodged.
"How did you-?" Chat asked but was cut off by another swing. How did he know all that? Was he listening to his and Marinette's conversation barely a minute ago? Chat was confused about how, but more confused about why he was so angry? "Why do you care?" he asked, still blocking.
Argos jumped over him, kicking him in the shoulder. Chat hit the ground hard while Agros landed gracefully on the roof of a nearby parked car. "If she's important to Adrien, she's important to me," he stated. As Chat sat up, clutching his shoulder, Argos readied his fan for another attack. "I'll not have you snatching my favorite cousin's love from him. Especially if he can't be around to do it himself," he snarled. If Uncle Gabriel was going to keep Adrien prisoner and won't let him be around Marinette enough to defend their love, then Argos was going to make sure nothing happened to his princess in the meantime.
"Felix, stop!"
Before Argos could jump and attack again, he found his view of his opponent blocked by Marinette. There she stood with her arms wide, between the two boys.
"Why are you protecting him?" Argos sneered. "Do you actually have feelings for this Tom-Chat?"
"No!" Marinette cried. "Chat Noir is my friend. Yes, I care for him. But I am in love with Adrien!" Both Chat's and Argos's eyes widened at hearing her powerful declaration. There was a pause, then Marinette took a breath. She knew Argos was Felix. He seemed to genuinely care about Adrien and his love life, and if he really did just see and hear what she and Chat just said, of course he saw Chat as a threat to his cousin's happiness. So, she had to make him understand the truth. "What happened between Chat and I, that was before Adrien and I really tried to see each other and then fell in love," she started. She was only going to tell him the important stuff. "I was a big fan of Chat Noir and thought that I was in love with him, but…" she paused, remembering how sad she was that night. So much so she was almost akumatized. "But…we decided that it wouldn't be fair, with me not knowing who he really is. So, we both decided to move on." For obvious reasons, she couldn't say the full truth, but it was close enough. "I was in love with Adrien first, before Chat. And after Chat and I decided that we couldn't be together, Adrien told me he loved me and my feelings for him came back, as if they were never gone," she said, a dreamy smile making its way onto her face. "It's true, my relationship with Adrien has some problems but, I know we'll work through them together because our love is strong enough. I believe it is," she said confidently. No matter what Gabriel or anyone else threw at them, nothing was going to tear them apart. "Please. Chat won't take me away from Adrien. I promise."
The street was quiet again. Argos had his brow furrowed in thought, processing everything Marinette just said. As much as he was sure that Chat Noir was up to no good, it was hard to argue with the passion and honesty in Marinette's words.
She loved his cousin and wasn't going to let anyone get in the way.
He didn't completely trust Chat, but he could at least trust Marinette enough.
Argos closed his fan. "Fine. You're an honest girl, Marinette. So I'll believe you," he grunted. Chat sighed in relief before standing up. "I don't want to be your enemy, Chat Noir. Believe it or not, you, me and Ladybug have some common ground to share," he continued before raising his fan, pointing it at him. "But you mess with my cousin and his love life, I will not hesitate to intervene," he said, the threat very real in his voice. "So unless she's being attacked by an akuma or almost hit by a bus…" he paused then narrowed his eyes. "Stay away from her." If he had to play hero for her when the need arose, so be it. If not, he didn't want him sniffing around his cousin's girlfriend in his downtime. "I'll be watching."
And with that final warning, Argos turned and jump away in the opposite direction, leaving the bluenette princess and knight in black leather alone in the street.
With the new information, Argos was going to be extra wary of Chat Noir.
Still, Marinette's confession was enough to convince him that it wasn't going to be a problem.
It was also enough to convince Adrien that he had nothing to worry about.
No matter what his father did to drive a wedge between them, Marinette still loved him enough to not be swayed. Even by her old feelings for Chat Noir.
Adrien as himself is barely in this (he is as Chat Noir), but Adrinette is the ship here.
I had this idea last year I think when I was brainstorming Marichat stories, but I realized, it's more about Adrinette. I was hoping to match it to a prompt from this year so I could write it, and I did. Yay!
After watching 'Emotion,' when Argos took Marinette away from the dance and hid her, I liked the idea of Felix protecting Marinette because Adrien loves her. Especially from Chat Noir.
Next 1 will be on the 19th. See u then ;D
