Chapter 16: Another Team Plasma Encounter

The trainers, Pokemon, Gym Leader, and her husband rushed up the stairs and ran to the Museum entrance. There they found 6 Team Plasma members surrounding the Pokemon Skeleton.

"What is going on here!" Lenora shouted in anger and confusion.

"So you come, Gym Leader," the head Team Plasma member said. "We, Team Plasma, claim the museum's Dragon Skull in the name of Pokemon Liberation! To show we're serious, we will steal it right in front of your eyes!"

All of them shout Plasma, before throwing several smoke bombs. The filled with smoke, blinding and choking everyone, while scaring some of the patrons.

"Zubat! Swoobat! Blow the smoke away!" Lucy shouted, sending out her Pokemon. They did and when it cleared, the skull and Team Plasma were gone.

"How did they…," Lenora started saying, shocked, before running outside. Hawes, Sam, Lincoln, and Lucy followed with their Pokemon. Outside, Lenora looked around, but saw no sign of Team Plasma.

"How did they do that so fast?!" Lincoln questioned.

"I don't know, but they were extremely prepared," Sam replied with a scowl.

"Good day Lenora," a new voice greeted the Gym Leader. They all turned to see a tall, thin young man, with bright green eyes and chin length, thick honey brown, wavy hair. He wore a cider green V neck shirt, with long sleeves, as well as a white undershirt, red scarf around his neck, a brown belt with a butterfly-design buckle, red pants with dark green and black vertical stripes, dark socks and flat pointy shoes matching his pants' color. "Have you found any good fossils lately?" He asked in a friendly tone.

"This is a surprise visit!" Lenora replied in a shocked voice. "Are you suffering from artist block again?" She then turned to the trio of trainers. "This is Burgh. He may not look it, but he's Castelia City's Gym Leader."

"Really?!" The three trainers said in unison.

"I'm just looking for a change of pace," Burgh replied happily. "Seems hectic or something here, what's going on?"

"That's right! Someone just walked away with an exhibit!" Lenora replied frustrated. She then informed him on what just happened.

"I see, this isn't good," Burgh said with a frown. "The culprits couldn't have gotten too far, if you kids help us, we should find them."

"Of course we'll help," Lincoln said with a determined expression, with Sam and Lucy nodding in agreement.

"Thanks," Burgh said with a smile. "Chances are they are somewhere on Route 3. If we split up, we stand a better chance of finding them." They all nodded and ran towards Route 3.

[Route 3]

They split up into 3 groups and were now looking for Team Plasma. Lenora and Hawes were one group, Burgh was on his own as another group, and the Royal Woods trio were the final group. They forced Teddiursa, Eevee, and Zorua back into their pokeballs. Lucy had Zubat, Swoobat, and Misdreavus scout the area from above. Lincoln and Sam had Herdier and Linoone go ahead on the ground to see if they could find their trail.

"I don't get it?" Lucy asked her companions. "How does stealing a skull from a museum free or liberate Pokemon?"

"I'm sure it doesn't," Lincoln replied with a frown.

"They're probably just using freeing Pokemon as an excuse to steal what they want," Sam replied, scowling.

"I just noticed something," Lucy started saying, getting their attention. "We saw N leaving the museum when we got there. Then not too long after, Team Plasma just so happens to show up to steal the skull. Do you think…".

"That he was in on the plan?" Lincoln finished for her. "Yeah, I believe he was."

"It is far too strange to just be a coincidence," Sam added. Suddenly, all the Pokemon returned.

"Sorry Lucy, we couldn't find anything," Misdreavus told her trainer sadly. All three Pokemon looked depressed at not being able to help.

"It's okay, you guys did your best," she told them, before returning them to their pokeballs.

"Me and Linoone think we found one of them," Herdier reported.

"We found a human scent mixed with smoke," Linoone added.

"Alright! Lead the way," Sam told the Pokemon with a smile.

Both nodded and started to show them the way. After a few minutes of running and zigzagging through trees and bushes, they came upon a small clearing. In the clearing was the leader of the Team Plasma group, with the skull tied on his back. Sam and Lincoln called back Herdier and Linoone.

"We found you!" Lincoln shouted seeing him.

"Some pursuers?!" He shouted surprised, before relaxing seeing who it was. "Oh, it's just some kids. You think you can beat me?"

"We don't think so, we know so," Sam replied with a cocky smile.

"I guess it can't be helped, I'll take you all on!" He said releasing 3 Pokemon. They were 2 Patrats and a Sandiel.

"Who's that Pokemon?" Lincoln asked, pointing his phone at the new Pokemon.

Sandiel the Desert Croc Pokemon. It moves along below the sand's surface, except for its nose and eyes. A dark membrane shields its eyes from the sun.

"I'll handle that one, come out Dewott!" Lucy said, sending out her Pokemon. Dewott came out striking a bizarre pose.

"I guess that leaves the Patrats to us," Lincoln said to Sam, who nodded in agreement. "Come out Elekid!"

"Come out Eevee!" Sam said, bring out her latest Pokemon.

The Team Plasma member ordered all his Pokemon to use Bite. They all charged at their opponents.

"Dewott! Use Razor Shell!" Lucy ordered.

"Elekid! Use Thunder Punch!" Lincoln ordered.

"Eevee! Use Quick Attack!" Sam ordered.

"Yes Mistress!/Yes sir!/Got it!" Dewott, Elekid, and Eevee replied to their trainers.

Eevee was the fastest and charged at her opponent. The Patrat attempted to Bite her, but missed and was hit by the Quick Attack. The second Patrat managed to Bite Elekid's arm. However, it didn't know that this was what he wanted. He then hit it with a Thunder Punch right to the face and sent it flying. Dewott waited for Sandiel to get close. Once it was close enough, he then grabbed both of his scalchops and struck it with them covered with water and blue energy.

All three Pokemon struggled to get up, but did. The Team Plasma member then orders them all to use Crunch. They nodded and charged again.

"Finish this Aqua Jet!" Lucy shouted.

"Now use Take Down!" Sam shouted.

"Finish it with Thunderbolt!" Lincoln shouted.

Eevee charged forward and slammed head first at one of the Patrat. Both were sent flying back from the impact, with Eevee getting back up and Patrat knocked out. Elekid swung his arms in a circle, charging electricity on the top of his head. He then sent the bolt of electricity at the second Patrat, knocking it out. Dewott covered himself with water, before speeding towards Sandiel. The Desert Croc couldn't avoid the attack, took the hit and was knocked out.

"If this keeps up, we won't save the Pokemon," the Team Plasma member said in despair, before glaring at the trainers. "Fine! Take your stupid skull!" He shouted, untying the skull and tossing towards them. They weren't expecting this and stumbled trying to catch it, but caught it safely and undamaged. "So the dream our King had, the dream we had, we'll never come true…".

'King?' All three trainers thought curiously.

Then an elderly man came out of nowhere and approached the Team Plasma member. He wore brown robes with fancy and elegant design, along a small brown hat on top of his bald head.

"How are you holding up, fellow subject of our King?" The elderly man asked him.

"Gorm of the Seven Sages!" The Team Plasma member shouted in surprise, seeing the man. "I'm mortified that the skull that we went through so much trouble to obtain, was stolen from us so easily."

"Stolen from you!?" Lincoln shouted in disbelief and rage.

"You stole it from the Nacrene Museum," Lucy added.

"It's not important," Gorm told him, ignoring the Loud siblings. "We can afford to lose the Dragon Skull. According to the results of our research, this is not the Legendary Pokemon Team Plasma is looking for. It is completely unrelated."

"So this whole thing was completely pointless and unnecessary?!" Sam screamed in frustration and annoyance.

"But we will not let anyone disrupt our plans and get away with it," Gorm said, turning to the trainers. "We will fix it so you three never interfere with us again."

"So here you are," a new voice said. All turned to it to see it was Burgh walking into the clearing. "Some Bug Pokemon were getting worked up, so I came to see what got them like that. What do I find? The skull thief and this important looking guy. Are you here to help your other friends, whom I defeated? I'm guessing you're the boss, so who are you?"

"I am one of the Seven Sages of Team Plasma," Gorm replied, glaring at the Gym leader. "Ghetsis, and the Seven Sages, will liberate Pokemon with words alone! The remaining Seven Sages have ordered their compatriots to take Pokemon with full force! But the odds are little against us now. To you, Bug Gym Leader Burgh, I say know your enemies, know yourself, and fear not the result of a hundred battles. This time we will retreat quietly. To secure the liberation of Pokemon, we will steal Pokemon from trainers! Even though you are a Gym Leader, we will not tolerate any further obstruction from you. In any case, we will settle this another day. I hope you are looking forward to that time as much I…". He then threw down smoke bombs. When the smoke was gone, both of them were gone.

"They're a speedy bunch," Burgh said, seeing them gone.

"Sigh, He completely ignored us," Lucy commented, slightly depressed.

"I think that's a good thing Lucy," Sam told the goth.

"I want to try and follow them…," Burgh started to say. "But I think we should get this skull back to the museum. Great work tracking and getting the skull back you three," he praised with a smile.

"Thank you sir," Lincoln replied, slightly embarrassed at the praise.

"Let's head back to Nacrene City, I'm sure Lenora handled any Team Plasma members I missed," the Gym Leader said to them. They all nodded while calling back their Pokemon and started heading back to the city, carrying the skull.

[Nacrene Museum and Library, Nacrene City]

By the time they made it back, the sun started to set. They ran into Lenora along the way and informed her what happened. This included this supposed King and the Seven Sages of Team Plasma. This concerned both Gym Leaders, both planning what needed to be done next.

"This was interesting, but I should head back to Castelia City," Burgh said to his fellow Gym Leader, before looking at the trainers. "I look forward to when you three come to my gym." He then started walking away.

"He's an interesting guy," Sam commented with an awkward chuckle.

"That he is," Lenora said with a laugh. "I just want to thank you again for retrieving the skull from Team Plasma. So what are your plans?"

"Well we're planning to stay in the city another day, before heading to Castelia City," Sam replied.

"I actually wanted to check out some books in the library," Lucy added. "Do you happen to have anything related to Hisui?"

"I think we do," Lenora replied, thinking about the question. "They would be in the secure area, but I suppose I could let you read them as a reward."

"Thank you," Lucy said with a smile.

"We should get the pokecenter to get a room," Lincoln told his companions. They nodded and started to make their way there, while waving to Lenora who waved back.
