The Fused World Arc.

Chapter 23: Tis The Wedding to Be Jolly!

Three Months later...

A bright, glorious day embarked across Station Square, snow falling like confetti across the region and parts of the newly made world fused by the restoration of Sonic's world and Earth, once separated by Chaos Control, a conflicted sacrifice by Rusca the Hedgehog, now joined once again as was the Universe by Sonic the Hedgehog and his friends, Miles "Tails" Prower and Knuckles the Echidna.

Tales and news feeds spread like wildfire across the new planet in the new Universe, Mobians and Humans now learning to coexist as their ancestors had done eons ago. It was a bit of a struggle at first, with some disagreeing with the new arrangements, others coming to join in companionship and put aside their differences, especially with the bonds forged by Sonic himself and his human best friend Christopher Thorndyke.

In his old home of the Thorndyke Manor, the newly restored 21 year old Chris was in his lab, fingers dancing across the keyboard as he monitored the codes, the warmth in the lab providing protection from the sub zero temperatures, a mug of hot chocolate seated across the desk.

As Chris was focused on the final preparations of his latest project, a gust of wind burst through the door which slammed instantly seconds later, and he yelped at the weight of something perch itself on his back, yet a knowing chuckle escaped him.

"H-hey!" He was unable to hold back his mirth, as a gloved hand wrangled through his hair.

"Hey, li'l-big bro!" The culprit, being none other than Sonic, greeted happily, playfulness glinting his eyes and voice. "How's my favorite human guy?"

"S-Sonic! Cut it out, will ya?" The human man was unable to be angry. Being around Sonic's company always brought joy and cheerfulness in his life.

"Aw, c'mon, Chris. You've been at your project for three months straight, even after all the times we've been through and the troubles of putting the worlds back together." Sonic faked a disappointed pout.

Chris couldn't deny that. Thoughts of how his best hedgehog friend had to make the ultimate sacrifice to either have humanity de-age by nine years to preserve the lifespan of the Mobians, or sacrifice nine years of life for humans to have their proper ages restored had nearly broken the hero of Mobius. Yet under a new twist of fate, by choosing the former, actually was a right course, the reality being that Sonic and his group had actually traveled nine years from the future when they first came to Earth.

"Sorry, it's just, I've been meaning to marry Helen for a long time, and this project is the only way to help her walk down the isle." Chris apologetically cranked his neck, only catching the warmth of the green eyes staring back at him.

"I know, I know," Sonic patted his friend's back, happiness etched across his face. "You sure came a long way from the kid I first met, buddy. I still find it weird how me, Tails and the others actually came from the future this whole time. Sure I knew we traveled through space and time, but I didn't think traveling backwards in time was on the menu too."

The blue hedgehog slithered off the young scientist's back, hopping onto the desk, the wood creaking slightly while crossing one leg over the other.

"Do you think Rusca knew this whole time?" Chris gently held his chin, thoughtfully.

"Probably. I haven't had any dreams of him since Earth and my old home were glued together." Sonic shrugged.

"What about your nightmares?"

That was crossing the line, the nightmares of Dark Oak, in a form of the Final Nova, swallowing Sonic haunted even the cocky and heroic speedster to his limits. Even after defeating Nazu and Narasu, not everything was at peace. Especially with the world still wobbling on its feet, the alliance between both kinds still in getting used to.

As though reading his friend's thoughts, Sonic casually waved off the aura of concern hanging in the air as though it was humid rather than freezing cold. "Funny enough, they've stopped too, finally. I haven't had a single nightmare since I spoke to Rusca in that dream. I mean, sure I did have one shortly after we went home, but that's pretty much it."

"What was it about, Sonic?" Chris tilted his head, curiosity and anticipation mixing his features.

He knew it was a risky question, given the panic attacks his best friend would end up with each time he had these nightmares, but the young Thorndyke hated seeing Sonic helpless and frightened.

"Hmmmm...Well..." Sonic began, his words flying free as his mind drifted to the deepest parts of his memories, as though he's suddenly traveling back in time.

As he spoke, the vivid dreams crept back to his sight, like he was there all over again.

Flashback:

A dream. Another nightmare. Distortation threatening to break the very undying determination and spirit Sonic beheld all his life. There he stood, on the metallic ruins of the Blue Typhoon, the vast of space with endless illuminating streaks soaring painting a beautiful yet haunting picture.

He sauntered his head at each direction, unable to breathe as though their was sucked out of him. No sign of his dear friends: Tails, Amy, Knuckles, Cream and Cheese, Chris, the Chaotix, Shadow, Rouge...the blue hedgehog was all alone, lost and trapped in the star ocean.

"Sonic...Sonic the Hedgehog..."

"H-Huh?" Hearing the strangely familiar voices, one that could send chills crawling down a spine like icy-cold snakes, another soothing and firm he once distrusted, and a third, unfamiliar voice, warm and comforting in a tone of a mother embracing their frightened child, Sonic whirled around only to raise his arms over his eyes at the sudden brightness engulfing the void he was trapped in.

As soon as it faded and he was able to see again, Sonic's mouth fell open. Surprise and confusion etching across his expression, awareness almost instantly returning to him as the darkness seemed to dew with whiteness of light, a hue of blue like in a dream flowing through like the rising of the morning sun, the blue hedgehog soon found himself levitating upward before his feet strangely touched something beneath him as though it was a smooth concrete pavement.

Straightening up, Sonic glanced around with more confusion and curiosity at his surroundings, seeking for the owners of the mysterious voices. "Is anybody there? Hello?"

This was very strange. Who would be calling out for him in this mysterious place? Was he in Heaven? Or was this some kind of limbo? If he was dead, would that mean...there were angels coming to take him? Those thoughts hung heavily upon the hedgehog's shoulders, his heart sinking into the sea of sorrow yet resignation, the thought of being dead did admittedly scare him. But he knew that day had to arrive sooner or later. Sonic continued to gaze around, perturbation now pervading his body and soul, slightly swallowing the lump formed in his throat.

Before the hedgehog teen could call for whoever was there for a second time, a large shadow loomed over him, making him softly gasp and slowly turn behind him, whirling around fully with fright as he nearly screamed. Standing before him was a large figure of a tree root-like figure robed in black, his expression firm and boring upon the hero who took a few cautious steps backwards.

"Sonic the Hedgehog...it has been a while." The mysterious figure spoke, in a voice that had Sonic freeze in his spot, almost instantly recognizing it, memories swirling upon his battles against the Metarex, especially the one having forced him to make a near-catasthropic mistake in sending the Chaos Emeralds across the galaxy.

"D-Dark...Oak!?" No way, it couldn't be! There was just no way he was seeing the true form of the male Seedrian that was the leader of the evil group overtaking their own kind, being the downfall of Cosmo's own people into extinction.

Not to mention the plot to conquer the whole Universe with the Emeralds themselves. Sonic's mind flashed to not just the battles upon battles that nearly cost him his friends, and his life, but also the nightmares of Dark Oak's terrifying giant dragon-like monster form swallowing him whole for several months, steadily getting worse.

"Okay, so I'm not in Heaven. I-I might be in the Underworld or somethin', or maybe I'm having another crazy nightmare..." Sonic slightly trembled, his heart racing with panic. If this was another nightmare, he'd rather wake up before Dark Oak would transform and then eat him whole alive, resulting in the hedgehog screaming awake once again.

Surprisingly, 'Dark Oak' didn't seem to hold the same menacing presence as he once held upon their previous meetings, instead his expression bore with in a way of softness and kindness...maybe even...regret in his eyes? The Seedrian's mouth curled into a frown, a look of understanding upon causing so much pain and fear within Sonic's heart, despite the hedgehog having proven to be far braver and stronger in will than he anticipated, his bond with his friends overcoming the mind control of the Dreamscape and awaken upon the rescue by Amy Rose, the girl whom loved him with all her heart.

Everything Lucas had taken for granted.

"Sonic, there is no need to be frightened or alarmed. I am no longer a threat to you, your friends, the universe...or even to my youngest daughter, Cosmo." Dark Oak informed, a tone of softness very uncharacteristic in the cobalt speedster's mind.

"Huh?" Sonic blinked, perplexed yet still with-holding his guard. Did he hear right? And, didn't Cosmo once mention the shocking revelation that Dark Oak was actually her father who betrayed her people?

"I understand how this is very confusing for you," The former Metarex leader continued. "Given we have been enemies in the past. I let the lust for power and greed overcome my senses, refusing to listen to my dear Earthia, destroying everything I once had. My planet, my people...and my own family."

"Mmm...Can't say I can argue with that. Not the first time that sort of thing happened, 'cept Knuckles' people ended up destroying themselves by not listenin' to a ghost girl who lived with a water monster for 4,000 years inside a glowing rock." Sonic reluctantly remarked, his arms crossed to his chest, still suspicious on what Dark Oaky would want with him this time.

"Power and greed are the most dangerous of emotions. You, Sonic, have neither. Your heart shines with the bonds you share for your friends, never allowing the tempation of the Chaos Emeralds to overcome you."

"Yeah, well, my friends have always been way more important to me, especially having to deal with Eggman all the time," Sonic shrugged, nonchalantly. "Even before that. Running and relaxing are cool, exploring new places, helpin' people and beating up robots are fun, but I like hangin' out with my best buddies too."

The hedgehog paused, a compassioned smile forming across his lips with a hand gently resting against his chest, his heart's beating on his fingertips. "Being with friends...Makes life even more fun, and a lot easier too. I'd be nothing without them. I'd do anything to make sure they're all safe and happy."

"Even by sacrificing yourself?" Dark Oak questioned, earning a modest nod. The Seedrian soon smiled with satisfaction. "Then I have no doubt you and your friends will all have a bright future ahead of you. You are far stronger than I thought, Sonic. You have proven that the day you saved Amy Rose, willingly allowing yourself to be captured."

"And you having me for a hedgehog snack," The hedgehog drily added. "I still get nightmares on that, and if you think I'm gonna let you use me for your plans, you're gonna have to take an indefinite raincheck."

His former enemy shook his head slowly. "I am no longer alive, nor do I wish for history to repeat itself. As for your nightmares, they are based on your fears you may not admit it. Remember, Sonic, your nightmares began even though you have survived, and for that, I am to blame for the hurt I caused for all of you. Yet, you were willing to allow it to happen, because of your love for the people close to you."

A shocked gasped escaped through Sonic's mouth, his memories flashing instantly back to that day, never figuring out why they would repeat and get worse, combined with Rusca showing him visions of the latter's own past and what was yet to come. Now he did understand: He didn't want Amy to suffer the same fate, pushing her out of the way without hesitation even though the moment he had been swallowed whole alive and nearly drowned, he had been so frightened the hedgehog hadn't been thinking clearly. Sonic soon forgot that fear when he awoke from that dream and when his self-proclaimed girlfriend tried to save him.

Yet those nightmares made him relive that fear, forgetting his sole reason for having gone through it, until now. But Sonic refused to blame Amy, as she, everyone, especially Tails, had all been victims of the most horrific experience of their lives.

"Huh...I kinda didn't think of that. Since I nearly turned completely dark, I guess that pretty much wrecked my brain so much, if it weren't for Eggman of all people, I'd woulda...been corrupted even with the fake Emeralds." Sonic's hand scratched his head, in a slow, caressing motion with his fingers combing through his quills.

"It was bound to happen, should the Metarex had been the reason or not, Sonic." Another familiar voice joined in, alarming Sonic to whirl to his left with his eyes widening like dinner plates to see a familiar red-brown hedgehog in an identical body fructure as Shadow, alongside a tall, female Seedrian he was unaware to be Earthia, Cosmo's mother.

"Rusca! You're here too?" Sonic gaped, bewildered. "And...who are you?"

Earthia's smile held such warmth as soothing and calm as the sunlight, her eyes gentle and sweet as sugar when they gazed at the blue hedgehog. "My name is Earthia, Cosmo's mother. It is so nice to finally meet you, Sonic the Hedgehog."

"You're...Cosmo's Mom? Does that mean I'm really dead, then?"

"No, Sonic. This is a crossing between your dreams and our souls. We have come before you to give our deepest gratitude." Rusca spoke this time, a slight shake of his head.

Sonic blinked, perplexed before he crossed his arms thoughtfully. "Huh...Never had a dream where I could talk to dead people. No offense."

"You have spoken to Cosmo's spirit, her voice reaching out to you," Earthia clarified, her smile softening at Sonic's confused expression. "It was through the Elders she was allowed to reach you, and your power of the Chaos Emeralds being necessary to help her grow and be reborn. The other key was the bond and love through young Tails, and you giving him hope and love, shielding him from sorrow and grief."

Like a rewindig cassette tape, Sonic's mind whirled back to when he first back on Earth, the soft chimes of Cosmo's voice drifting. His dreams, everything ever experienced in the last several days.

"It was you. You all set up my nightmares to prepare me for re-gluing the dimensions back together," Realization dawned, Sonic's eyes widened with shock. "All of that was to test me?"

A brief look of growing guilt engulfing itself upon Rusca's expression, his eyes averting from the younger, living hedgehog before switching them to Sonic once more. He knew he was in for a long lecture and disapproval, but the time had come for the teenager to fully understand.

Unfortunately, the blue hedgehog caught on the expression, grunting with suspicion and annoyance while crossing his arms. "You know something, don't you? What is it this time?"

"What I have said about your decision, the choice you must make...It was partially a lie." Rusca confessed, eyes closed of guilt.

"Wait, what?" Sonic gaped, shock mounting before a snarl of anger quickly replaced it, his fists clutched tightly. "I knew it! You did lie to me! You were using me?!"

"No, I was testing you," The ancient hedgehog quickly elaborated, sighing with remorse. "To show if you have what it takes to make the correct decision."

"Why didn't you say that in the first place, huh? Does that mean I merged the worlds for nothing? That time is really destroyed and I...I messed everything up!?" The blue hedgehog was furious, his heart surging with a new weight of guilt.

"Time is not destroyed, because you saved it, as well as the past and the present. It never occurred to you or your friends of why the merging the previous time would have destroyed Time itself, because your present would have merged with Earth's past."

"...Merge with the present and the past?" Sonic trailed off, before a realization dawned and a soft gasp soon followed. "So Eggman and Chris were right all along. We really did travel through time."

"When you first entered Earth, yes. It may seem months for you and years for the human world, however, the reality is Chaos Control has sent you nine years into the past as you were meant to guide Christopher Thorndyke's childhood to become the man he is now." Rusca confirmed.

Perplex and perturbation washing along his bones, Sonic's hand once more found its way through his quills. If that was the case, then he and his friends had spent months in the past and each time he used Chaos Control, more parts of the present merged with Earth? No wonder it was slowly destroying time. Yet more questioned lingered, a seed of dread swimming through the pit of his stomach.

"Huh. That explains everything. So, if I chose to let everybody on Earth stay the same and we aged nine years ahead, that woulda been the end of everything, right?" Sonic shrugged, a chill running through his spine over the thought.

"Yes. Through the difficulty and your bond, now the two timelines exist: One where you never reached Earth or traveled back in time, instead you, your friends and enemies have transported to another location within your world, while life on Earth remain the same for Christopher Thorndyke without you. It was trapped in limbo upon your arrival, now it exists as a separate reality from this one, part of a multiverse if you will."

"I thought the whole multiverse thing was fiction," The blue hedgehog shook his head, yet a linger of relief began to spark like a star in his heart. "So then, everything's okay now? But, what does Cosmo have to do with it?"

"Our elders, who have seen the outcomes through a prophecy, had seen Cosmo through your trials, her bond with your little brother Miles strong as ever as well as yours," Earthia spoke once more, she and Dark Oak's gaze settled like a gentle glow of the moon upon Sonic who's attention returned to them. "The seed you found was a key to her being reborn, and as such, we wished for her to live. It is thanks to you both she has found a new family, a new home. That is why we sent her to send you the vision, and the use of Chaos Control has restored her to life, to live free with her own choices. She is our future."

Relief, happiness, and warmth swelled through the teenager's body, a burst of sunlight-like energy coursing through him that he nearly unleashed laughter and an urge to cry at the same time strongly tempting him to let it happen. Everything was okay now.

"Sonic," Lucas spoke once more, gaining the hedgehog's attention. "You don't have to worry or fear of your nightmares anymore. It's over, you are free to live your life peacefully now."

"Heh. Well, considerin' all the nightmares I've had about you lately, this is the nicest one," Sonic lightly chuckled, rubbing his nose. "I'm just glad everything's okay now."

"Just as we are fortunate the Universe is safe once again," Earthia's smile bloomed like a newborn flower.

Rusca nodded with agreement, a smile budding his lips. "If anyone can restore harmony and aid both kinds to co-exist once again, it's you and Christopher Thorndyke, Sonic."

"It's still a bumpy road ahead, but where's the fun of going down a path if it's a smooth as a glass, right?" The blue hedgehog jested, winking with a shrug. "Though I'm still annoyed at ya' for tricking me like that, Rusca. I don't wanna have my emotions go all haywire or..." He shuddered, rubbing his arms. "Turn dark all over again. That was a nightmare in and of itself!"

"There may be a way to help you control your negative emotions should you lose sight of your light once more, Sonic, in spite it not being necessary as your light and bonds are stronger than you think," The ghostly hedgehog advised, as he could sense the unease still overwhelmed the teenage hero. "There is a land, an island if you will, where I have learned after my demise and sacrifice, those who become corrupted by their negative emotions and powers seek guidance to fully control and permanently lock away the darkness. The Terra Opal, a gem between Cosmos and Chaos."

The Terra Opal? That's a new one. Sonic held his hand under his chin, cogs turning wildly making his brain go into a spin dash. He was hesitant if he could trust Rusca's latest advice, but it would help him regain control over his darker side, preventing the monster he'd nearly become from emerging ever again, he'd rather take the risk. Still...what are the odds of something going horrifically wrong?

"This sounds a little too easy. Medicines don't usually come for free." Sonic raised an eyebrow, suspicions clearly evident in his tone.

"True. To claim the Terra Opal and borrow its power to aid you, you must pass these trials guided by the Terra of Light, the guardian of the gem."

The blue hedgehog scoffed. "Sounds like Knucklehead playing charades. If that's the case, then maybe I can give it a try. But first, I wanna help out the world to get back on its feet. There's a lotta work to do and Chris held off his wedding plans long enough."

Silence drifted between the four individuals for a brief moment.

"Very well," Rusca nodded, approval pinching his, Lucas' and Earthia's faces. "Take as long as you need. After this, I'm afraid this is the fina time we shall see each other. From here on out, the rest is up to you and your friends."

Sonic nodded, as he knew this new journey would be far from easy but like many of his adventures, he was ready to take on whatever challenges that lay up ahead. He bid the trio a farewell, a newfound respect for his former enemy Lucas who reciprocated the nod, and Earthia, who's smile mirrored Cosmo's, before light illuminated around them, swallowing Sonic as he never saw the hedgehog or two seedrians again...

End of Flashback:

"You mean you've been keeping this information from us for the last few months without even telling us?" Chris asked incredulously once Sonic finished his story. "Sonic! We've could've gone out to find this Terra of light to cure you!"

To think this best friend, the hedgehog who had changed his life permanently, was still fighting an inner war against his own darkness, having transformed in his unconscious state sending chills down his spine, had kept this from him and their friends for so long.

Sonic shrugged, sheepishly. "Sorry. The world needing to stop a misleading fight between both kinds and your wedding were the top priority. Besides, I've been doin' okay since I haven't turned dark again."

"But your mental health is just as important-"

"Ah!" Sonic held up a finger, silencing his friend playfully. "No buts. Friends and family come first, and you, my friend, are part of both. I've been waitin' for months to see one of my best buddies tie the knot with Helen, no way I'm gonna delay that just because of a dark bug."

Chris's gaze hung low, guilt-ridden for having delayed his best friend's search for a cure mainly for his own wedding. How could he have been so careless? Even months on since the battle against Narasu and Nazo, he was still haunted by their claims for his selfish desires to keep Sonic trapped on Earth out of fear and respite. Those very desires clouding his judgement and placing both dimensions at risk out of loneliness.

As though reading his thoughts and a smile budding his lips, Sonic hopped off the desk and placed a hand on his human friend's shoulder. "It's okay, Chris. The past is over, it's time to move on to a new tomorrow."

A grateful smile budded the 21 year old's lips as Chris knew that Sonic was right. The past can no longer be changed, their lives can only go straight forward. For almost a whole decade, the former never thought in his wildest dreams the fusion between Earth and Sonic's world could ever be made a reality without the cost of Time coming to a halt. Now here they were, living their lives together permanently. It was a dream come true with many more yet to be fulfilled.

"And as a first step of said tomorrow, we still gotta get you the best Groom's duds," Sonic chuckled, his lips stretching into a playful grin. "Can't have ya' go and get married in your lab coat, after all!"

"Who made you the wedding planner, Sonic? You don't strike me as the romantic type despite being with Amy." A teasing glint sparked the young Thorndyke's eyes.

"Eh, I'm no weddin' planner. That honour goes to Ames and Frances," Sonic nonchalantly shrugged. "Besides, me and Danny are your best men, remember?"

"Right," Chris chuckled, gently resting his hand on the hedgehog's shoulder. "Thanks for accepting the offer, Sonic. Before all of this, I planned on sending you guys photos to your world at least one more time to show you how far things had come and gone."

Sonic smiled in return. It was no secret he really wasn't into for mushy stuff, even though the adventure three months prior had brought up thoughts he never anticipated, the warm, sweet embrace with Amy with relief washing over him of her being safe and unharmed, but even he knew Chris and Helen were a match made perfect. Since the day the hero had taken Helen to the island of flowers-and of course the annoyance pursuit of the military attempting to force him to abandon his plans just to attend the Black Tie Charity ball Jerome Wise set up all just for a scheme to ensure the former President's re-election, that and the ridiculous race all being the cost of his job-Chris grew closer to her bonding a friendship, years on developing into a romantic relationship.

Now here he was, set to become a married man, and there was no doubt in Sonic's mind that Chris and Helen would be living a happy life together.

Far off in the distance between the extended desert and parts of Station Square, and three hours off Casino Zone, the towering structure of Dr. Eggman's latest new base stood, security surveillance and badniks on guard under commands to eliminate intruders, namely a certain blue hedgehog and/or his annoying friends, systems whizzling across the building.

All was ever normal in the otherwise silent domain, the epicenter of Eggman's home and crowned jewel of his eventual empire...

"AAAAAAAHHHHHHH-CHOOOO!"

...Except for the mother of all sneezes vibrating across the walls as though an Earthquake hit, many robots bleeping in fright and ceasing their work and patrols, all collectively whirling their heads to the corridors with large sweat drops on their heads.

Eggman himself laid in his chambers, laid in his oversized bed clad in his pajamas, his usually peached skin now a slight shade of sickly green, a hot water bottle slumped on his head with a thermometer loosely hanging in his mouth, his pink nose now even redder as though he was Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, groaning after having unleashed the mighty sneeze.

Decoe and Bocoe both stood idly a few feet away from their creator, the former holding a towel while the latter held a bowl of water with unease etched across their metallic faces.

"That was the loudest sneeze I've ever heard!" Decoe blinked, bewildered.

"Dr. Eggman's cold must be serious than the last time," Bocoe cringed, sympathetically. "I don't remember him being this sick since being activated."

"Will you two-*Cough, koff, wheeze, cough!* shut up?! I'm already in a foul as it-*sniffles* it is," Eggman growled, his voice just as raspy as it usually was, his throat so irritably dry like someone had, against all logic, went in there and rubbed sandpaper all over his throat. "I have the mother of all headaches as though a boulder was shoved right into my most brilliant scientific mind, I can't concentrate on my next plan to get rid of Sonic and rule the new world, and I need water pronto!"

"That must be a very painful headache if it feels like its a rock in there," Decoe whispered, lightly shrugging with a free shoulder.

"The power outage a few days ago during that snowstorm has really put Eggman in an avalanche state." Bocoe responded in agreement.

Once again, a deep growl rumbled in Eggman's throat, clearly not helping his condition or mood. "You two are lucky that I'm bedridden and as unmovable as a potato, or else I would be scrapping you for the recycle bin!"

Chills ran down the duo's hard drives, frantically nodding apologetically. Further insulting cogs in Eggman's mind were put to rest by the obnoxious, high-pitched laughter vibrating the walls as all eyes collectively shifted to Bokkun, the little message bot carrying a tray with a bowl of steaming soup, softly landing with his boots sinking into the quilts.

"Hiya, Dr. Eggman!" Bokkun chimed cheerfully. "I brought ya' some soup and I hope it's hot enough this time!"

"This time?" Bocoe sweat dropped. Well that was...pretty ominous. Unease lingered through his circuits, wires heating up as though he was about to be overloaded with huge amounts of data-usage. "I thought Decoe and I were the ones who cook around here?"

"Yeah, well, for all we know, you two clowns carried the bitter chill when you fixed up the heat pump by the time the doctor got sick, so I made sure he would eat nice and healthy!" Bokkun rested his hands on his hips with a pout.

Eggman slumped as he sank further in bed, dread lacing in his voice. "Unfortunately, his cooking his worse than mine. Two days ago, the soup was as though he put glue in the recipe, and yesterday was as cold as the blizzard outside."

"So, I made a few mistakes, but this time this will warm ya' up and you'll be back to good health to take out Sonic." The little robot shrugged, sheepish over the previous failed attempts.

With tender care of a young child attempting to help their parent feel better, a sentiment not shared with Eggman or his robots in all the years he invented and many failed attempts to conquer the world, Bokkun extended the bowl at his creator's face, a hopeful glint in his yellow optics...Which did not ease the nervousness in Eggman's chest as a moanful groan rumbled in his throat. Oh, sweet Robotnik, please don't make him regret this...!

Hesitant yet realizing just how hungry he was, Eggman lifted the small spoonful of soup to his lips, steaming hot with the tinge red and orange with vegetable pieces cut in an awkward angle like they were shaped into little cute hearts which already increased the nausea. He pitifully whined before forcing the spoon into his mouth, experimentally chewed while the robots watched on, Bokkun's hopeful expression etched on his face, and both Decoe and Bocoe's expression laced with concern...

The moment Eggman swallowed, immediately the unbearable volcanic heat burned his throat and every single organs as though he'd eaten a 2.2 million black pepper ever existed, tears bursting out of the floodgates behind his sunglasses and steam whistling through his ears and nose.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" As he screamed, again, without logical explanation, Eggman comically breathed out a flamethrower that would make Vector jealous while his three minions who all collectively cried out before ducking, narrowly avoiding in being caught by the flames.

Eventually after what seemed like an eternity of screaming and exhaling flames, Eggman panted before falling face first against his blanket, exhaustion more than evident. Oh, sweet badness, now he felt just as worse as before...!

What had he done to deserve this cruel, ultimate fate? Well, okay, he's an evil supervillain who tries to take over the universe and attempts to kill or capture Sonic and his friends on daily basis but still...

"Dr. Eggman?!" Bocoe exclaimed, horrified.

"Are you alright?!" Decoe shrieked frantically.

"What has Bokkun done to you!?"

'Uh oh...Did I mess up again?' Bokkun thought to himself, guilt-ridden. Sweat dropping, he withdrew a spare spoon and took a bite himself to see what was wrong with the soup...

Only for his eyes to comically widen to the size of plates as the molten lava taste hit his robotic tongue, quivering before he unleashed a high-pitched pained scream and ran all over the room, his feet dancing across the floor and strangely his lips blew up like water balloons.

"Waber! I mube 'a've waber!" Bokkun babbled, his swollen lips now distorting his speech as he raced out of the room, desperate to find anything to cure himself.

The other two lackies both meekly exchanged glances, silence lingering between them briefly.

"What did he say?" Decoe tilted his head with a raised eyelid.

"Forget about him. Dr. Eggman needs water and actual soup right away...!" Bocoe shrugged, shelving the unnecessary question indefinitely. 'And I thought Dr. Eggman was a terrible cook.'

Whatever soup or water preparations the two stored in their memory database were all but automatically deleted by the chilling, deep growl boiling from the mad but sick doctor, the two slowly whirling their heads with terror as Eggman lifted his head, face just as red as his usual outfit, eyes darkening behind his shades like he was about to erupt with pure fury. Decoe and Bocoe yelped, clinging onto each other. Uh oh...!

Dr. Eggman is about to erupt a volcanic fury in 3...2...1...!

"GET! OUT! NOOOOOOOOOOWWWWW!"

His roaring order vibrated across the entire base louder than E-47 Noizi, all robots freezing in their tracks once more with sweat drops, nervously whirling their heads just in time to witness Decoe and Bocoe clumsily bee-lined out of their creator's room, tripping over each other's feet with panic-stricken expressions all over their faces.

"Y-yes, Dr. Eggman, sir!" They squealed in terror as they fled, their feet barely even touching the floors, the clattering of metal barely audible in their wake.

The remaining Egg Pawns remained still, slowly exchanging nervous glances. They knew, from all the threats and experiences for enraging Eggman, be it their ultimate failures to complete their tasks accordingly, betrayal or even accidentally bumping into him or ruining all his hard work, they should remain vigilant and wiry for the evil mad doctor's notorious temper.

Or in this case, his illness only escalating foul mood and nothing could ever cool him off until he is well rested and cured...The robots all hung their heads simultaneously with dread. This is going to be a looooooong week ahead.

Days pass on, and preparations for the Thorndyke wedding of the decade spread out far and wide across the blistering streets of Station Square, and across the territory beyond the human city. Within these busy streets, the once famous Cafe owned by Amy Rose, once closed due to her departure, now was blooming with business once more with the ultimate fusion of her world and Earth.

During the three months in the passing of the final battle against Narasu and Nazu, the loving hammer-wielding hedgehog decided to permanently move in to the city she once come to get used to be her second home, home away from home, spreading her love and baking skills across many sides beyond. Thanks to all of her learning from Ella, Amy's business was thriving once again, only this time both humans and Mobians could come to experience the delicious delicacy of her cakes, sweet, aroma bakes and cheerful environment. Today, however, she was busy at work with another task in mind.

Clad for the winter chills seeping across the city, Amy switched out of her usual attire even for the indoor heating should it cut off: She was dressed in a deep purple sweater dress, black tights leggings and soft fabric crimson boots with white wool linings, and a cyan apron tied across her torso, with her golden bracelets absent, replaced by light pink wrist bands.

Her arms moved in a grace of passion, her boots cluttering against the wooden floorboards with each hasten step across the back kitchen, her eyes scanning across the list of orders and lists needing to be done.

"Okay, let's see," She hummed to herself. "20 Cherry pies, 60 honey cupcakes, 100 double chocolate chip cookies, entree pastry lemonion, 70 boques of daisies, white roses, and daffedols, and white streamers...I sure hope Ella can help me keep up with all of this...!"

Her enthusiasm spread all across her heart, unable to hold back her excitement over Chris and Helen's wedding. As such, she, Ella, and even Ms. Vanilla and Cream have taken it upon themselves to plan all of the delicious entrees and food for the guests, gathering the flowers and decorations. Essentially, Amy had become quite a bit of a wedding planner, gathering everything needed.

Standing by the doorway between the kitchen and the front counter, Cosmo and Frances, having volunteered to help aid their hedgehog friend, had just returned from another round of orders as they decided to take part time jobs to help Amy with her business, this being a new experience for the young Seedrian. Cosmo now wore an opal green dress with long sleeves, light blue gloves made of the finest material, white leggings and deep green boots reaching her knees, added with a blue scarf given by Tails weeks ahead of the coming winter.

Frances meanwhile wore a yellow jumper, long dark pants and black boots. Likewise, she and the young Seedrian wore matching aprons suited for Amy's business.

"Are wedding ceremonies always like this in your and Amy's world?" Cosmo inquired softly, her gaze turned the young human woman.

Frances just giggles with a shrug. "Not sure how weddings work in Mobius standards, but yeah, this is kinda one of the wedding traditions in this country. Marriages work differently all across Earth, I lost count of how many there are."

"I see..." Cosmo blinked, a little perplexed yet beginning to understanding. A sheepish blush formed across the cheeks with a hint of sadness glinting in her eyes. "I was born on a ship in space, so I never got to even understand wedding cultures in my people's home planet. As such, I...don't know anything about wedding ceremonies."

Concern laced across Frances' features as she knelt down to Cosmo's height while gently resting a hand on her shoulder. "I'm really sorry to hear that, Cosmo. It must be very hard on you."

"Maybe, but it was the way it is. Besides, this is quite a new and exciting experience," Cosmo giggled. "I get to finally see what a true wedding is like!"

"Well, that makes the both of us. 'Cause I never went to a wedding before either." Frances reciprocated admittedly.

"Really? You haven't?"

"Nope, spent most of my time with my friends, and helping out Chris to build his Port Hole to Sonic's world. I've heard about my Mom and Dad's wedding and seen the photos, those are nothing compared to actually attend the real deal!"

Frances' own excitement spread widely, hands clasped together as the vivid image of Chris and Helen walking down the aisle together materialized in her mind's eye. "Best part is, two of my best friends are gonna tie the knot!"

Despite the happiness Amy and Frances radiated, shared beyond the dreams of the future happiness like a warm glow of the golden sun's rays blanketing the land, confusion only traced along Cosmo's face as she blinked twice, her expression blank.

"...Do they need to use rope to tie knots at their wedding?" The question was so absurd in spite of the innocent tone lacing in Cosmo's voice, a comical large sweat drop formed on the side of Frances' face.

"Oh, it's not like that, Cosmo. It's just a expression," Frances clarified, quickly waving her hands sheepishly. "What I mean is that Chris and Helen are finally getting married, and they've been together since we were kids! Of course, it was growing obvious as we grew older after Sonic and the others returned to their world."

The pause lingered across the room with silence looming safe for the clattering of dishes, pots boiling and ceiling fans whizzing, confusion and bewilderment mixed across Cosmo's face. Quite a strange way to say things about true love and marriage.

"I...don't quite understand this."

Frances giggled while resting a comforting hand on her friend's shoulder. "Don't worry, Cosmo. You're still young, and by next week you'll see how weddings are really like. Trust me, you'll love it!"

Unexpectedly, Amy sauntered over, a knowing grin playing along her lips as she giggled. "Wait 'til it's your turn when you and Tails are old enough, Cosmo."

At first Cosmo's confusion only lingered, tilting her head on her best friend's meaning only for realization to sink in like a ship crashing into a large rock, her eyes shrinking as she squeaked a gasp. Her hands flew to her mouth in a futile attempt to hide her blush. "It-It's not like that, Amy! Tails and I are really good friends!"

"Uh-huh..." Amy's eyes slid half-closed, not buying it. Still, business came first at hand, and she, ever the romantic-enthusiastic obsessed girl, clapped her hands loudly tightly. "Alright, girls. Enough lolly-gagging! We got a wedding to prepare and lots of guests, attendees and participants to feed after all! Let's get this show on the road!"

"Aye, aye, Chef Rose!" Frances playfully saluted, dashing over across the kitchen herself, the sheer determination lacing across her face for the perfect wedding to bring to a reality.

Still, as Cosmo hurriedly followed, nervousness still crept within her eyes. In the recent months since returning to life, things have never been quite the same. Between her reunion with Tails and all of her dear Mobian and human friends, the journey across the fusing worlds in search for the sacred Chaos Emeralds, Vector's illness brought upon Narasu's Mutagen, the corruption of all the Earth creatures, never had she thought she would live a new reality beyond what she grew up amongst her family and old friends.

Being the last of her kind was a stark reminder of what she has to face, learning the new culture of both Mobian race and humanity on the same planet, once two separate worlds, living in said world beyond her expectations, everything her people would never be able to experience.

Having been in passing for three months in the present, Cosmo never thought she would be given a second chance of life.

The next day...

"Alright, everyone! Places, places!"

The stage of the greatest wedding of all time was set, everything within the olden but glorious cathedral in the near outskirts of was blistering with activity, florists carefully arranging the most gorgeous flowers across the room, photographers lined up at each far sides, the Minister of the Church, Father Michael Travous waiting patiently, and the head of it all, Lindsey Thorndyke and her husband, the former being the wedding planner, stood by as guests finally began arriving, all dolled up for the occasion of the year.

Standing near him was Chris himself, his hair combed back to a perfect slick, donned in a navy blue tuxedo with a matching tie and white shirt underneath, black leather shoes. Yet his eyes repeatedly shifted at the crowd slowly taking their seats, wrangling his hands secretly behind his back. The poor young Thorndyke repeatedly swallowed the saliva threatening to drown him and his face perspiring, quivering like mad and his heart beating like crazy.

Man...how the heck was his father able to do this on his wedding day? Beside him were his two closest friends: Danny who was to be his best man, now wearing an opal green suit jacket with a white shirt, black pants and matching shoes, and Sonic who also, via 'advice' by Tanaka as his role was important, wearing a dark blue tuxedo suit jacket and white shirt underneath with a red bow-tie...his finger wriggling against the shirt's collar with great discomfort as his face scrunched up in distaste.

A small silk pillow was clung in his free hand, carefully resting two gorgeous rings, the symbols of ever lasting love to last until the end of time itself, soon to be rest in Chris and Helen's hands, as Sonic was requested for the role as the ring bearer and second best man. Or, in his case, the best hedgehog.

"I can't believe it's come this far, never thought this day would arrive, but now our son is finally going to be married." Nelson's eyes were glued to the doors awaiting for the arrival of the bride to be.

"It's almost like a dream come true! Our little baby's really grown up!" His wife squealed, her hands squishing her cheeks as she struggled to hold back her shrieks of delight.

"Ugh, now I know why Chuck was complaining nine years ago at the party!" Sonic grumbled, unable to contain his impatience and increasing disgust "I don't get how you guys or even Tails managed to wear these? It's like a robot's tryin' to choke me."

Chris' knowing and sympathetic gaze drifted to his hedgehog best friend, thankful for the distraction of his unease. "You didn't have to wear a bow-tie, Sonic. You could've loosened your shirt up a little bit, it's not like it's my Mom and Dad's wedding."

The hedgehog just rolled his eyes, his expression flat. "Yeah, well, tell that to Tanaka. He's the one insisting on me wearing this Earth-Dog leash."

"I had the same problem with my Dad, especially when I'm the Best Man." Danny slightly hang his head, suppressing a frown forming on his lips.

A smirk played along his lips as Sonic lightly chuckled, "So what does that make me? The Best Hedgehog?"

Chris briefly contained his laughter to address an increasing concern. "Thanks for being here today, guys. To be honest, I'm so excited yet nervous at the same time. I wanna make Helen happy, but I'm worried I might mess up. I mean, weddings don't happen every day in families, you know?"

Sonic and Danny just smiled, the former gently patting the groom's back, providing as much comfort his heart radiated. "Don't worry, Chris. You'll be fine, and I know that you're gonna be great for Helen. Just be yourself."

"He's right, man," Danny grinned, playfully poking his elbow into his childhood friend's arm. "This is the happiest day of your life! What's the worst that could happen?"

"If there's one other thing I'm worried about besides me passing out, it's Eggman's uninvited arrival." The young Thorndyke sweat dropped with a nervous chuckle.

"Ah, Egghead doesn't attack on weddings," Sonic reassured calmly. "In all the times I've fought that loser, our battles never interrupted couples getting married."

"Really?" Both men tilted their heads, surprise flickering in their eyes.

A playful grin split Sonic's lips with amusement dancing in his tone. "Yep. Believe it or knot!"

It had taken quite a miracle and willpower for Chris and Danny to block their laughter from unleashing and making them seem unprofessional despite their shoulders lightly shaking in amusement. Trust Sonic to ease the tension with his usual carefree and humorous nature! Even Father Michael lightly chuckled over the hedgehog's jest before clearing his throat, getting the trio's attention.

"As much as I find young Sonic's words amusing, the wedding shall begin shortly." He reminded calmly.

Sonic, Chris and Danny sweat dropped sheepishly, murmuring apologizes before doing their best to strengthen up their postures as the doors open, all heads collectively turned to see the guests finally arrive, all dolled up for this very special day: All of their friends and other guests, both human and mobian alike they encountered through their journeys together could be seen. Surprisingly even the now former President Sonic recognized was here, his eyes widening with joy as the man likewise noticed him.

The two exchanged beaming smiles, the aging man nodding with warmth and foremost respect for the teenage hero's compassion and return, while Sonic delivered a wink at the man he trusted with his life. In spite of their occasional misunderstandings in the past, Sonic never held a grudge against him, for as it had been the ex-aid Jerome who had intended to force him to attend the party and the race between him and Sam Speed, both times being the cost of the guy's job all together.

Soon enough their best friends and family arrived as well: Amy was wearing the same dress she wore during the Black Tie Charity Ball, her excitement evident as she cutely winked at both her 'boyfriend' who secretly waved at her back(and dear Chaos, didn't see look beautiful-wait, did he just say that in his head? Sonic quickly shook away those thoughts, blushing with embarrassment) and Chris who nodded back. Man, he hasn't seen hear wear that in years!

Tails was wearing an identical shirt suit similar to what he wore also at the party, his namesakes swishing and heart hammering with anticipation for the big day itself. Vanilla was clad in a beautiful long lavender sleeveless gown of fine silk material and matching high-heeled flats, and long white gloves reaching her elbows, Rouge in a gorgeous black dress and matching high-heels, her gloves removed and showing off her deep purple manicure, even her eye-shadow were now purple as well, Frances wearing a light navy shirt and deep blue skirt with matching flats, even Cosmo now donned a light green sleeveless dress with a light blue cardigan, her red jewel once more resting in the middle with her usual stockings and flats, the Chaotix wearing similar suits to Tails and Sonic, with Vector having removed his headphones yet kept his necklace on, and Charmy's goggles were also absent in spite of his protests.

Even Knuckles, with surprising swimming across Sonic and Chris' faces, was wearing a shirt suit with a black tie, a glimpse of discomfort evident on his muzzle. For Chuck, Tanaka, and even Sam Speed, they all wore the same outfits worn at the previous parties, with Sam and his sister's father-in-law, they both tugged the collars of their shirts as well, like they were both stuck in a sauna with too much pressurized heat.

Chris had expressed disappointment for the absence of Shadow and Omega, yet Sonic informed him that the Ultimate Lifeform never attended Weddings before, but he did send his congratulations to the young Thorndyke. As for Omega...Well, he was out an on "Easter Eggman" Hunting, the blue hedgehog remarked in his usual tease.

"I can't believe I have to wear this," Knuckles grumbled under his breath. "How do guys stand it?"

"It does take a while in getting used to, Knuckles. Besides, it's important to wear them for occasions like this." Tails softly reminded, sympathetically.

"Yeah, well, don't expect me to wear it if Sonic and Amy decide to get married one day."

Unable to stop herself from teasing, Rouge leaned over from the bench behind the boys. "Aww, but you look so cute in that, Knuckie. You should wear it more often."

"Har de har har." Knuckles rolled his eyes, but refrained himself from giving into his rival's bait. He decided to be the better man and simply ignored her attempts, much to her disappointment.

"Now I remember why I decided not to get married," Sam groaned, wriggling his finger to loosen the tie. "This thing's choking me to death!"

"Tell me about it. I wish I could loosen this up a little." The elder Thorndyke agreed.

Mr. Tanaka frowned, disapproval over the two men's complaints. For his whole life as the fine gentlemen for different culture and manners, he devoted those around him to respect the perfect example for balls, parties and weddings, comfort to be pushed aside for those around them. "Mr. Thorndyke and Mr. Fair, silence permitted at Young Master Thorndyke's wedding."

"Amy, where's Cream? I thought she was going to be here with us." Cosmo whispered to the pink hedgehog, confused over the absence of their youngest friend.

"Cream and Cheese are gonna be here, but they can't join us until after she played her role as the flower girl," Amy explained.

"What does a flower girl do?"

The twelve year old giggled, understanding her seedrian friend's lack of Earth and Mobius knowledge. "A flower girl of a young age is to skip across the aisle spreading beautiful flowers for the bride. It's a tradition that's been around for many generations."

"That sounds very lovely." A smile beamed on Cosmo's face as she clasped her hands together.

"It is!"

"I'm surprised Sonic agreed to be the ring bearer, I thought that role would go to Tails." Rouge remarked, admittedly perplexed.

The aforementioned young fox smiled sheepishly. "Well, I didn't want people to stare at me with my tails, and I still get nervous with the photographers."

Further conversation was put on hold as the gentle dings of the piano played, filling the room with a soft melody of love and passion, everyone's gaze all whirling to the aisle as many bridesmaids sauntered over, behind them Cream, clad in the same pink dress she wore at the Black Tie Ball, happily skipping across throwing pink flowers, her giggles chimed like a soothing harp bringing smiles alight, many of the guests cooing at just how cute she looked.

Eventually the music changed, the sound of the familiar melody of the titular 'Here comes the bride' filled the air like a soothing warmth of the sun's rays, the excitement enchanting everyone to collectively stand, all heads shifting to the church doors once more. There standing in the illuminating light, positioned no one either thought in their wildest dreams could become a reality, was Helen herself, her hair tied up in a high ponytail clipped by a silver and cyan hair clip, her wedding gown resting above her ankles with an extra velvet flowing like an princess' dress, dancing within the non-existent winds, the sleeves being the similar material, white low-heeled flats to increase the comfort.

A white and glittering veil covered her face, hiding her blush and her smile, never taking her eyes off of her fiancee, the contraptions Chris spent months constructing snugging her legs enabling her to finally achieve her life-long dream of being able to walk, even just for this moment, comfortable against her smooth skin as took slow, cautious steps between the piers, both her mother and father's arms looped around hers and a beautiful bouquet held gently.

Chris was a loss for words as his mouth fell agap, his expression mixed with awe and incredulity at the sight of his future wife. Dear lord, she looked absolutely stunning! The dress hugging her body just painted her as though she were an angel having descended from heaven. His heart thrust with joy of seeing her walk for the first time like this.

"Wow..." Was all he could manage to muster, and it was shared by his closest friends and family, and the crowd who could all think of just how beautiful the bride was.

Fortunately there was only one step to save Helen from lifting her feet more than once with great difficulty, and her wheelchair was already stationed where she and her future husband would make their vows. Soon the family reached the quartet, and Helen shared a tearful embrace with her loving parents before she was once again seated in the chair, her and Chris' hands linked together once more.

"Dearly beloved, friends and families of Station Square," Father Steven spoke, a signature for the crowd to remain silent as he began the long awaited ceremony. "We gather here today, to witness the union of these two young souls Christopher and Helen, who by fate, time, love and holy matrimony, have come together to join their hearts as one. As such, rather than let an old man ramble, they have written their own vows and thus we shall step onward."

The audience released soft, amused chuckles over the irony of the priest's comment of self-reference and rambling with humor twinkling in his tone, before settling down as they shifted their gaze to the bride and groom, the vows singing in their ears.

"Christopher, please begin your vows."

Chris nodded, kneeling before his bride and silently praying to not mess up with his speech, having practiced for months on end. Deep within his subconsciousness, a nagging fear lingered for stumbling his words, coiling around his throat as though a snake was choking him. But it was the supporting nods from all of his friends, and his family, smiles pinching their faces have calmed his nerves like a soothing balm, cooling the increasing heat boiling over.

"Helen, there has not been a single day you have not been in my heart and thoughts. Even back when we were kids and our paths only crossed for a moment, I felt something special every time I saw you. When Sonic introduced us, that feeling only grew stronger. Your adventurous spirit and brightening heart were never faded-even though you don't see it in yourself-you always inspired me. You never gave up on what mattered and you never stopped believing in me. I love you with all my heart, and I shall give it to you, now and forever." Chris suppressed the exhale, the sense of relief quelling his troubled soul as he completed his speech that came far truer from his heart than any rehearsal.

As he spoke, Helen's eyes swelled with tears threatening to break the floodgates, absorbing the truth in her future husband's words. Sweet lord, he was so wonderful, pouring his heart out to her and the encouragement she held, not just because of Sonic, but because Chris himself was part of how her lifelong dreams have been brought to life.

"Very well said, Christopher," Father Steven praised as he drifted his attention to the bridge. "Helen, please begin."

Helen nodded, suddenly feeling nervous but the truth in her soon-to-be-husband's eyes ebbed her unease away, and instead mustered up her courage to speak truthfully from her heart.

"Chris, I honestly can't imagine my life without you. Your courage, your kindness, and the way you always brought people together-it's amazing, being the glue holding us all together. Helping friends find their way back, and giving me hope when I thought my dreams were out of reach, and for fulfilling my dreams I began to believe would never happen, and today, my heartfelt wish came true, walking down the aisle to you. My heart belongs to you, just as yours belongs to me. I love you, Chris, and I always will-no matter what the future holds." Helen sniffled, caressing her fiancee's cheek.

Everyone was touched by the vows drifting into the church's golden glow, tears already streaming down some of the audience's cheeks, even Sonic, usually not one for all the mushy moments like these, couldn't help but wipe away a tear with his finger, sniffling softly. Gosh, his best human buddies were all grown up!

"WAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!"

A loud, rough wail snapped Chris, Helen, virtually the rest of the crowd with all eyes collectively shifting to Vector who now crying waterworks, repeatedly failing stop himself with a tissue and unintentionally soaking Charmy and Espio, the two leaning away from their boss.

"Geez, Vector! Go easy on the waterfalls!" Charmy grumbled.

"Calm yourself, Vector!" Espio added, irritated. "You're making us embarrassed."

"I can't help it! It's just such a beautiful spe-e-e-ech!" Vector croaked, desperately trying to block the floodgates.

The rest of their friends and the guests all sweat drops with sheepish chuckles, all understanding as Chris and Helen's vows truly sent a wind of peace flowing into their hearts. It wasn't everyday one would be treated with such a heartfelt connection.

"Um, ahem, such wonderful speeches, and by order of the Lord himself, if anyone wishes to reject the union between Christopher and Helen, speak now and forever hold your peace." Father Michael cleared his throat, bringing silence(or as much as one could get with Espio trying to calm Vector down).

Silence drifted amongst the crowd, even Cosmo, still puzzled yet touched by the marriage, decided she didn't want to interrupt the wedding for the second time and wisely chose to ask Amy and Frances after the reception.

Satisfied no one would object, the Minister gestured at Sonic who nodded, handing out the beautiful rings to the young couple. With nods of appreciation, Chris gently placed a silver ring with a white flowered shaped diamond on his soon-to-be-wife's finger, a testimony of Helen's love for flowers. The young bride's eyes once more glittered with water, as she reciprocated by sliding a golden ring with a blue gem on Chris'.

"Christopher Nelson Thorndyke, do you take Helen to be your wife, to love her, to cherish her, in sickness and in health, for richer and poorer, for better or worse, in times of joy and in times of sorrow, till death do us apart?"

Chris didn't hesitate, his eyes glued to his bride's. "I do."

"Helen Sarah Kimberly, do you take Helen to be your wife, to love her, to cherish her, in sickness and in health, for richer and poorer, for better or worse, in times of joy and in times of sorrow, till death do us apart?"

"I do." Helen replied without second thought.

Father Michael smiled, bowing his head briefly. "And so by the authority vested in me, I now pronounce you Husband and Wife," His gentle gaze soon returned to Chris with an encouraging nod. "You may kiss your bride."

'Finally!' Chris and Helen collectively thought, the two's eyes drifting like a dream as the former knelt to one knee and gently lifted the veil before gently but quickly connecting their lips to each other, the softness sending thrilling warmth down into their hearts.

Everyone all cheered with a loud applaud and whistles, happiness sweeping to all and beyond with celebration to see Chris and Helen finally married after many years and months of waiting. Now, they were officially Mr. and Mrs Chris and Helen Thorndyke, and a new chapter of their life together had just turned in a loving book which began upon their bonding in their childhood.

"Yeah, nice one, guys!" Sonic's grin extended his lips like no tomorrow, gifting his close friends his signature thumbs up and wink. "Or should I say, Mr and Mrs. Thorndyke?"

As usual, Chris and Helen both chuckled over the joke, the former winking back at his hedgehog best friend. "Let's not go too far, okay Sonic?"

"Hey, you guys are married now, and that means it's time to party!" Sonic shrugged innocently, with excitement dancing in his eyes. "Ya' got Chili Dogs, right?"

*BOOM!*

The sudden roaring explosion rocked the entire cathedral, some nearly losing their balance everyone collectively crying out in alarm and Chris immediately crouching to catch his new wife before she could fall off, plumes of dust and dirt raining down from above.

"Oh, c'mon! What now?" Vector exclaimed in frustration. Who would dare to go and try to crash a wedding now of all times?

Suddenly realizing who would be stupid enough to try and ruin the big day, Sonic sheepishly sweat dropped with a nervous grin. "Uh, maybe you guys should go on ahead. I'll meet ya's at the reception party asap..."

"Sure, you go on ahead," Chris equally sweat dropped in return. "We'll leave you some cake and chili dogs. Just be careful, okay?"

"Will do, li'l-big bro! See ya!" Sonic promised, his feet barely touching the carpet and wooden floors as he dashed across to the double doors.

The sudden stiffness of his shirt suit and tie making it unbearable to breathe as he ran, the teenage hero yanked the wedding layers off and promptly shoved them in the startled Espio's arms with a brief apology flying by, his legs transforming into discs, following the sounds of the explosion, his emerald eyes climbing upward to the robotic-monster floating above and, surprise surprise, a large robot strangely shaped like a giant wedding cake with long, slender arms ending with sharp mechanical claws and black boot legs.

Atop of it was Bokkun grinning mischievously. "Hahahahaha! Sorry to drop by on the wedding, but I was wondering if ya' could lend me some cake!"

Sonic screeched a halt just below the robot, his stance pulsing with renewed energy with excitement surging through his heart. "We would've lend you some if you were invited. But I think you already got a giant cake with your name on it there, Bokkun!"

"Very funny, Sonic," The obnoxious small robot pouted, crossing his arms. "I'm here for some real cake!"

"Maybe you shoulda asked for icing on the cake if you behaved," Sonic grinned, "Anyway, where's Eggman? I thought he'd here uninvited given his standards."

A sheepish sweat drop trickled alongside side his face as Bokkun wranlged his hands. "Actually, Dr. Eggman is sick with a bad cold and not even my hot soup I made him helped at all. It even burned my lips too...!"

Eggman sick? Well, that doesn't happen often, but then again, he was only human and everybody gets sick. A brief, and by brief, meaning VERY, sympathetic expression painted his face, Sonic just shrugged with a light chuckle. "Heh, maybe he should get himself a prescription for staying out in the cold, and your cooking only made his fever worse."

That innocent comment alone was enough to tick Bokkun off-Even though he despised in admitting it, Sonic made a very good point-that he made his fists faintly squeak from the tightening pressure. "That's it, Sonic! Prepare to meet your maker! Go, Frosty, get rid of him!"

The giant cake robot, identified as E-200 Frosty, reared its arm with a powerful strike, intending on destroying Sonic and ruining Helen and Chris' wedding. But the ever quick-witted hedgehog casually side-stepped, unfazed by the brief shockwave upon giant claw's impact against the ground where he stood, before the blue hedgehog dashed along the pavement, laughing away while easily escaping each punch and swipe, flipping with ease with slim reflex as the giant robot's palms opened up hatches, shooting giant blobs of whipped cream-like substance that splattered everywhere, left over droplets flying like waterworks.

As much as would love to continue this fight, his friends and the newly weds were still in potential danger, plus the reception would be starting soon. Deciding to make this quick, his feet dancing along in a jazz and twirls in a grace of a disco dancer, even wriggling his hips before planting himself onto the giant claw, ascending right to the robot's head causing its eyes to widen, surprise evident in its optic sensors.

How in the world did he get to its shoulder so fast?!

"Meet my maker? I think you should be preparing to meet your caker, big guy!" Sonic teasingly remarked, casually leaning against the left side of its face. "On second thought, I've seen cakes sweeter than you."

Frosty snarled, metallic growl bubbling in its voice chip with its eyes leering a death glare and brightening redness barely even fazing the hedgehog's soul and steam puffing out of its electrical circuits. How dare he insult it?! It was sweet and delicious, the finest cake in the world!

It swiped its claws straight to Sonic, but unfortunately for it and Bokkun who yelped with horror, the hero raised his hand mockingly. Uh oh...! This is not good!

"Buh bye!" He flipped backgrounds, arms and legs spread as glorious as a beautiful eagle while the arms thrashed right into its head digging into the metal skull, sparks and fires sparked from the damaged system overriding with warning alarms blaring until it exploded, the thunderous impact rocking the area thankfully in a safe distance from the church, shards flying everywhere.

"WAAAAAAHHHHHHH!" Bokkun screamed as the impact catapulted him and he blasted off again, vanishing into the sky with a twinkle.

A victorious laugh escaped Sonic as he landed safely, legs bend to softening the impact. He stood tall while hearing rapid steps approach, whirling his head to all of his friends and the other guests who cheered on happily. Sonic just grinned, responding with his casual thumbs up and wink.

"So, Chris, you and Helen got any real cake? I could use somethin' to sweeten the mood." The innocent yet teasing comment rose in Sonic's voice prompted his human best friends to laugh alongside side their close friends, the hedgehog joining in on this joyful day of love, companionship, and bonds.

Against all odds, despite the uninvited welcome from Bokkun of all people-or robots-everything was just perfect.

"Thanks, Sonic. You really saved our wedding." Chris said, gratefully.

The blue hedgehog's grin only widened, provided with another wink. "Hey, don't mention it, buddy. I'm just glad you guys were already married before the attack. I say it's a win-win for everyone!"

No argument could be said or thought of, the logic ringing in everyone's ears as things were calm once more. The golden orb in the azure canvas shone brightly upon the heroes, families, friends and allies alike as though it were agreeing with Sonic. This event today was yet another exciting adventure, one not of just fighting robots or exploring new places, but one of a bond brought together forever until the end of time itself and beyond.

For Sonic, he couldn't wait for what the future held for him next. As for Chris and Helen, the next adventure together awaited them:

A trip of a romantic honeymoon they would always remember close to their hearts.

A/N: Again, I deeply apologize for the over-due wait for this story to continue and how slow this chapter seems, but as you can see, the next adventure has officially began, even though it started off as a filler, with a long-awaited wedding finally fulfilled. The next chapter may take a while again(writer's block, life being extremely busy, especially for the next four weeks ahead of me), but I intend to continue this story until I deem it finished.

I also want to give a big shout-out and thanks once again to one my friends Assassin's Creed Master for helping me out in certain parts of the story!

Until then, I'll be continuing on this story and my other stories and have no intentions of quitting! It'll just take a while, so please be patient everyone. *Sweat drops sheepishly*

See you later!
