Chapter 5 Holocron
52ABY, 1st Melona, Datunda 14
A week has passed since my visit to the Tome of artifacts. I live with Tuk in a tree home . Tuk initially built it from scratch for himself. However, I won't see him much after the Netu ceremony. I will have to live alone, is what Tuk told me. I have to wait for everything to be prepared before I can start my studies. This is important, considering my Netu Ceremony is on such short notice.
Our home is supported by three great trees forming a triangle. The home itself has a rounded roof made from light brown wood. The house size is enough to fit two resting rooms, a food room, and a mini Library. It has two floors, and my room is on the top floor. The bottom floor is where Maior Tuk usually lives, but soon, he will no longer have to live with me. The house entrance has a round door and an area for symbol opening. We form symbols on the halfway point of the doors to open. Each house door has its own unique symbol.
When I returned home from the Tome of Artifacts, I rushed up the stairs to my room and hopped on the bed. I uncovered the Holocron, as Tuk called it, out of my arm. It was a beautiful thing to admire alone. For-shoo said it was knowledge inside, I think. Who or what knowledge, I wonder? Welp, sitting here won't solve anything, so I might as well figure out how to uncover this Holocron.
I could feel energy emitting from the Holocron. It feels natural to me, almost like breathing or speaking. I place the Holocron in front of me on my bed. I close my eyes to focus on opening the Holocron and being open to the knowledge inside.
"Deep, Feel, Allow, and You. Universe." For-Shoo says. But it also felt like it changed from how For-Shoo normally speaks.
Unsure about what For-Shoo means, I ask, "Do you want me to do the same thing I did with you in the Forest of Brightness?"
For-Shoo answers in a flat tone, "Words. Limited. Force unlimited." I don't know if that answers my question, but I think For-shoo wants me to trust in the force.
I see the Holocron revealing its form and unpacking itself from its geometrical shape. I open my eyes, and I think that who it reveals is a human. I have only seen one species similar to this being. It is the spaced memory I have of them. They didn't have a chest like her, though. The biggest difference is they have pointy ears and not rounded ones like humans. I think they are different from the person in my spaced memory because of the chest area. The being's chest is more similar to Maoir T'ra Saa. The person had brownish-orange hair and had light clothing on. They look ethereal, almost like they're timeless. I could also feel their immense presence in the force.
They look at me with a smile and say in a soft voice, "Greetings, young padawan. My name is Faye, a Jedi. What is your name?" My eyes are squinted, and my face is scrunched because I'm confused about what a padawan means.
"Force. Type. User." For-Shoo says.
Looking at them with a sense of confusion and curiosity, I reply, "My name is Alani Bo, but what is a padawan, and how are you able to communicate through this Holocron? Are you alive? Are you stuck inside, and if so, is there any way I could help? Are you human like the person in my memory?" Faye looks at me confused, their head slightly tilted to the right.
Seeming perplexed, Fay says, "Slow down youngling. One question at a time. Yes, I am part human, but I am also part sephi. I would be considered a woman in both terms. Ahhhh, I see. You must not be a padawan. How did you come across my Holocron? Although, I did place the Holocron in a specific place with the thought that no one would find it. But if someone did, they would have to be a Jedi themselves. Or Hmmmm..." She looks away, deep in thought about how her holocron was found.
Cautious about Fay and nervous about what is happening, I ask For-Shoo, "Should I trust her? I don't know who she is, but you could say the same for me to her."
For-Shoo answers, "Trust."
I felt supported by For-Shoo's answer but was still nervous, saying to Fay, "Maoir Tuk showed me the Holocron. I felt the force running through it. Tuk thought I would like the Holocron, and he was right. I have a fascination for artifacts and knowledge of the universe." She looked more confused, but I don't think it's for the same reason I'm feeling.
Her lips are curled, and her eyes are traveling around like they are searching for something. I curiously ask, "Are you confused about something else?"
Puzzled, she says, "Indeed I am. I don't know how my Holocron came away from the Jedi temple. Considering they are valuable resources. Jedi need to train and learn from other Jedi mistakes. You see, a Holocron is a tangible journal Jedi have for whoever next is to come along or to study. Though I did not have many padawans in training, I left it with someone I trusted to keep safe during the Clone Wars. The force has guided me to you for a reason. I am glad to Oblige to the force's will." She ends her response by smiling at me.I look at her with sparkling eyes, excited to see what I'll learn from her. I want to know what her life is like as a Jedi. Wait, is she still alive?
Feeling a bit playful, I say, "Are you dead or alive?"
She has a mischievous smile, saying, "You'll find out soon, padawan."
She asks curiously, "What is your age, padawan?" Fay asks in a curious tone.
I say cheeringly, "I'm 12, and my Netu ceremony will be happening soon. Why do you ask Maoir Faye?"
She says informatively, "Padawans are usually taken in from a young age. From the age of 9 and below, but I wonder if the Jedi Council ever thought about what training truly means."
I say, slightly scared, "Does that mean I am too old to be able to train? Why does the so-called Jedi Council take in species so young?"
She says calmly, "No, dear padawan. Although I was trained as a Jedi, I don't align with all the lessons they taught me. There are experiences I have of my own that do not align with what the Jedi believe. You will have experiences of your own that don't align with what I or others have taught you. Why, I believe we have this hidden factor because it is easier to train a child who knows nothing than a child who thinks they know more than understand." Putting my hand on my chest, took a heavy breath and released the air. Gathering myself thinking, but do all species' Nerkch (brain) develop the same, though?
I squinted my eyes at her, saying curiously, "Do all humans develop the same? I'm not too familiar with humans at all, but our Tek (Body) is different already. I can only imagine what your Nerkch is like." Her face is frozen, looking at me like I said something wrong again. This is becoming a bit too nerve-racking for me. I really want to explore the force further. I feel like she is my only ticket right now.
Fay says calmly, "Alani, what were those words you said about human Nek- being different? I don't know what those words mean, nor can I pronounce them." She seems a bit flustered and curious about those words. I am trying to understand what words she is talking about.
I ask perplexedly, "Um.. Do you mean Nerkch and Tek? Nerkch is one of the features that helps Neti function. This is where our feelings, consciousness, and beliefs happen. Kinda like someone's Jonfe (core), but not entirely. Tek is your limbs, like your arms and legs. Other than those three, the Neti here don't know much more about our own bodies. Which is annoying to me."
Her eyes are closed as she nods, portraying she understands. She asks curiously, "What do you mean by J-? What is that? You said you've only encountered one other human before me. Did you speak to them because you are quite fluent in the Galactic tongue?"
I scratch my roots. Making an awkward laugh, I say, "Ha.. ha. You see, this particular human I don't know much about. Nor do I recall them speaking from my memory, but Tra-Saa did come here and spoke the Galactic tongue off and on. Even though she was a Neti, she spoke the same Galactic tongue. I saw her when I was barely 2, but I observed her a lot from when she was here. It wasn't too difficult to understand it. It took some practice with Tuk, but I learned the language within 4 months. Jonfe is kinda like the thing that beats ever so often in us. We have control over how much it beats and doesn't. Galactic language would be core, but is there another word for this?"
Her eyes were shocked, but with what I don't know. I don't know if she was scared or surprised by my prowess. Regardless, I think I learned it too slowly. It would have been 1 month if it hadn't been for understanding the relationship of words.
She says, "Ehem, sorry for my disturbance. I'm just surprised a 2-year-old was able to communicate the galactic language so quickly. There is another core word. For humans, it would be called the heart."
I say, "I had a great teacher. Maior Tuk really helped me understand the feeling of the language. When I acquired the feeling, everything else set into position. Oooo, the heart! Sounds interesting when you say it." She seemed pleased with what I said. I wonder why?
She says, "The Force is powerful in you, young one. There is something strange about your presence in the force, though. It's like something invisible is blocking me, but I can't put my finger on it."
I think she is talking about For-Shoo, I knew I was the only one who could sense For-Shoo so far, but I didn't think they intentionally blocked others. It seems Harbinger Flora has tricks of their own. I'm not sure yet, but I'll ask For-Shoo later.
I say desperately, "Maoir Fay, I want to learn what being a Jedi means. I want to know what the force is itself. I have started to notice strange things have been happening lately. I say that while I can talk to Flora—ha ha, kind of weird, I know. The aisle we landed on was the third one to the left of the main entrance. I have always been able to communicate with Flora. Having a conversation with them. I thought all Neti could do the same, but recent events have made me question that assumption. During trance meditation, I had a vision or dream about seeing a green being walking with a cane in this cave-like place. Someone or something says to the green being, 'I am a manifestation of the Force, a Force that consists of two parts...' I was awoken by that part. I didn't get to hear all that was being said, but it sounded important. More importantly, I don't know if that is going to happen in the future or has already happened. I wonder, do you know of a Neti named T'ra-Saa?" She tilts her head up, looking up as though she is searching for something.
She says curiously, "I know of T'ra Saa, but I didn't have much interaction with her. Indeed, I think you could sense a whole galaxy's life force with the proper training, of course. You said you saw a green being in this vision of yours. Did you get to look at their face or height at least?"
I look at her with shock, as though she is crazy. I gather myself, trying to remember the best I can of what I saw. The thing that stood out the most was the voice for me. But the species, I think, had white hair at the time.
I was shocked by her faith in my potential and disappointed I couldn't remember any more details as I said, "I'm sorry, but the thing that stood out the most was the mysterious voice. All I can remember is the green being walking with a cane and their back facing me. Although they were shorter than a human. And Wha, What do you mean!? A whole galaxy is a bit much, don't you think? I was just able to sense this moon last week. I..." Before I could say "I," Maior Faye's movements stopped instantly. I looked around to see if I was imagining things. The leaves were as still as a rock in midair. This was quite different from my everyday adventures.
At this moment, I heard, "Calm. She is helpful. Wait." For-shoo says to me telepathically.
Everything went back in motion after For-shoo was done speaking. This time was much different from last time. How did For-shoo stop everything from moving? This is interesting but a little scary. I'll talk to For-Shoo about it later.
Seeming impressed, she asks, "Well, it is impressive that you could sense the moon so early and easily. How did the force feel when you felt the planet's life force?"
Feeling mystical, I respond, "I felt the essence of the planet and the breath of its core. How all the animals, flora, weather, and terrain interact with one another in just an instant. For a few moments, I felt one with the planet, as though there was no difference between me and it. I could have gone farther, but Maior Tuk interrupted my focus. I can go deeper into the Force connection given the time."
Fay closes her eyes and takes a deep, quiet breath. As her chest rises and falls slowly, her presence becomes more loving and serene.
She opens her eyes, releasing air, saying, "Alani Bo, I am grateful to meet you. You have a genuine curiosity for the force and maybe more. But beware padawan, you must remain vigilant against the seductive pull of the dark side. I can't stop you from what you wish to explore. All I can and will do is teach you what I have learned in my experience. We will start your training in a week. I will search the force for other Jedi to help your training."
"Yayy. I am so excited to start learning more. I wonder when I'll get to fly? Or mind-tricken someone into thinking a rock is edible? Oh, I forgot to mention. T'ra Saa told me some wisdom, saying..."
"Alani Bo! Come downstairs, I need to talk to you!" Tuk says in a
I say, "It was an honor to meet you, Maior Fay. Can I call upon you later on?"
As Fay smiles, she says, "It was an honor to meet you as well. Yes, padawan, you may. May the force be with you."
