Silas looked to Jack. "Help me get him to my place," he ordered.
"No way, man. You are on your own," Jack replied, shaking his head vehemently. "I am not involving myself in this. I don't want or need his dad on my bad side, plus he is a werewolf. He could kill you."
Silas's eyes blazed with fury. "Oh come on, grow a pair, Jack. He's just a child!" Silas snapped.
Jack threw his hands up in frustration. "Yeah, a werewolf child, dude! I'm out. Good luck when his dad finds you," he retorted, stepping back and turning to leave.
Silas was on his own as Jack turned away, his footsteps echoing in the quiet night. Determination settled in Jack's eyes, and he quickened his pace, knowing that Luna would be Kylo's best hope. Jack had long grown tired of the relentless bullying. Ever since Kylo's dramatic shift in school, which had caused a stir, Jack had lost any desire to harass him further.
He sprinted towards Luna's house, his mind racing with the urgency of the situation. Luna had always been Kylo's protector, and Jack knew she wouldn't hesitate to come to his aid. As he reached Luna's doorstep, he pounded on the door, willing her to answer quickly. The night was far from over, but there was still time to change its course.
"What the hell?" Ryder said as he opened the door.
"I, um, is Luna home?" Jack asked.
"Who's asking?"
"Just tell her Kylo is in trouble," Jack replied hurriedly. Ryder's eyes narrowed, recognizing the urgency in Jack's voice. He stepped aside and called out for Luna, his voice carrying through the house. Moments later, Luna appeared, her expression shifting from curiosity to concern as she saw Jack's distressed face.
"What's happened?" she demanded.
"Silas has Kylo. We need to move fast," Jack said, his voice trembling. Without hesitation, Luna grabbed her jacket and followed Jack into the night, ready to face whatever danger awaited them.
"Jack, what happened?" Luna asked as she tried to mind link Kylo, but the wolfsbane was preventing her from doing that.
"We ran into him. He was alone, and I am not sure what the hell he wants, honestly. It's getting old. But he did say he needed something from him," Jack explained, his brow furrowed in frustration and confusion.
Luna's eyes narrowed as she processed Jack's words. "Did he say what he needed?" she asked, her voice steady but tense.
Jack shook his head. "No, just that he needed something from Kylo. I couldn't get more out of him."
Luna glanced at Jack, her eyes filled with both suspicion and curiosity. "Why are you helping Kylo now? You used to bully him. What's changed?"
Jack glanced away, his expression a mix of guilt and embarrassment. "He turned into a wolf," he began, his voice low. "I'm sorry, Luna. I know he's just a kid, but I'm not about to get my ass beat because I pissed him off."
"He won't hurt anyone, but where did Silas take him?" Luna asked, urgency sharpening her words.
"His house. It's not far," Jack replied, his voice steady but filled with apprehension.
Luna nodded, determination gleaming in her eyes. "Let's go," she said, her tone resolute.
Meanwhile, Kylo woke up but realized he was not in any danger; he was just somewhere he didn't recognize. "Where am I?" he said out loud.
"My place," Silas said.
Kylo immediately stepped back, his heart racing.
"What is going on? What do you want from me?" Kylo asked, his voice trembling.
"I first need you to calm down," Silas replied gently. "I don't want to hurt you."
"You used wolfsbane on me! And you bully me—excuse me if I don't trust you," Kylo retorted, his voice filled with defiance and fear.
Silas sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Listen, Kylo, this situation goes further than just you and me. You have to understand, I merely needed to get you here for someone else. So if you will just calm down before I need to use silver or something."
"Like that is going to calm me down!" Kylo snapped, his eyes darting around the room, searching for an escape route.
Silas held his hands up in a placating gesture. "I understand you're scared, but trust me, there's no need for this to escalate further."
Kylo continued to pace, every muscle in his body tense as he tried to process the situation. "Who is this 'someone else'? Why am I here?"
Silas sighed deeply, a look of reluctance passing over his face. "I am not obligated to say, but all I know is you are needed for something important," he replied, his voice steady but solemn.
There was a knock on the door, and Silas looked to Kylo. "Please, just stay here and be quiet, okay? Or I will knock you out again," he warned.
Kylo froze, his eyes widening in fear. Silas turned towards the door and opened it slightly, enough to peer out but not enough for Kylo to see who was on the other side. Silas exchanged a few hushed words with the visitor before turning back to Kylo.
"Stay here," he repeated sternly, then stepped out of the room, closing the door behind him. Kylo stood still for a moment, his mind racing with thoughts of escape and the mysterious 'someone else' who needed him. He listened closely, trying to catch any part of the conversation happening outside, but the voices were too muffled.
Kylo glanced around the room again, his desperation growing. He took a deep breath, trying to calm his nerves, and began to formulate a plan to get out of there, no matter what Silas had threatened.
Kylo reached out to Luna through the mind link, "Luna, help me please," he said desperately.
"I know, Kylo. I am here," Luna replied, her voice calm yet filled with determination.
Kylo's confusion deepened. "You're here?" he questioned, unsure of how close she actually was.
"Yes, Jack told me everything. I am going to help you," Luna replied as Jack pounded on Silas's door.
"Where is Kylo?" Luna demanded, her voice sharp and unwavering.
"How should I know? He is your responsibility. Find him yourself," Silas retorted, his expression a mix of frustration and indifference.
Kylo heard raised voices outside the door. "I know he is here," Luna said, her tone unwavering.
"He is not here! Do you hear him? No. Now get lost," Silas snapped back.
"Dude, I was with you when you took him," Jack argued, frustration evident in his voice.
Kylo would have screamed out, but there was a girl with him. She had a silver knife and was holding it near his throat. "Shhh, not a word," she said, her voice a whisper but carrying an undeniable threat.
Kylo didn't dare move. "Please, let me go," he pleaded, his voice trembling.
"Not a chance. You, my little wolf, are going to help me," she said, her tone cold and commanding.
"Cut the bull, Silas. Where is he?" Luna demanded, pushing past him. She could feel his fear; she knew he needed her.
"Help you with that?" Kylo said, his voice shaking. "You will find out soon enough," she said as Luna burst into the room.
"Let him go!" Luna said, her voice filled with an authoritative command that brooked no argument.
The girl with the silver knife smirked, her grip tightening on the hilt. "I don't think so. I call the shots, and since I hold the silver, he listens to me. Isn't that right, little wolf?"
"Um," was all Kylo could say. Did he listen to her? Who the hell was she?
"He is not your wolf. He is mine, and you do not control him," Luna said, stepping forward with fire in her eyes.
"Oh, and you do?" the girl with the silver knife retorted, a sneer curling her lips.
"As a matter of fact, I do," Luna said, her voice steady and unwavering. She stepped closer, her presence like a force of nature that could not be ignored.
Kylo looked terrified. Was Luna really doing it again? If she did it this time, it was saving his life rather than proving a point. But was it worth it? He didn't know. He could maybe get out of this himself and not be too hurt.
The girl laughed at Luna as Kylo tried to move, but she pressed the silver against his skin, and it burned. Kylo let out a pained gasp, his eyes wide with fear and agony.
"You see, Luna?" the girl taunted, her voice dripping with malice. "He is mine to command, and there is nothing you can do about it."
Luna's eyes blazed with determination. "We shall see about that," she said, her voice low and dangerous. She took another step forward, intent on ending this standoff once and for all.
Luna hoped she could help him without asking him to shift or get hurt, she didn't know who this girl was but she needed to help Kylo. Just then the girl heard her phone, its ringtone shattering the tense silence. She glanced down, momentarily distracted, and in that fleeting second, Luna saw her chance.
Without hesitation, Luna lunged forward, her hand closing around the girl's wrist. With a swift, forceful twist, she disarmed her, the silver knife clattering to the ground. The girl let out a cry of pain and surprise, her phone slipping from her grasp and falling next to the knife.
Kylo stumbled backward, clutching his burned skin, but his eyes were fixed on Luna. She stood tall and confident, her grip firm on the girl's wrist. "It's over," Luna said, her voice like steel.
The girl glared at Luna, her eyes filled with fury. "You think you've won?" she spat, struggling against Luna's hold. "This isn't over. It will never be over."
Luna's grip tightened, her expression unyielding. "As long as I am here, you will never harm him again," she declared. "Now leave, before I make you regret ever crossing paths with us."
The girl hesitated, her defiance wavering under Luna's fierce gaze. Finally, she wrenched her wrist free and took a step back, her eyes still blazing with anger. "You will regret this," she hissed, then turned and fled into the darkness, leaving the knife and phone behind.
Luna watched her retreating figure until she was out of sight, then turned to Kylo. "Are you alright?" she asked, her voice softening with concern.
Kylo nodded slowly, still in shock. "I... I think so," he said, his voice trembling. "Thank you, Luna."
Luna smiled gently, reaching out to touch his shoulder. "You're safe now," she said. "Let's get you home."
As they walked away, the silver knife lay forgotten on the ground, a silent testament to the battle that had just been fought and the bond that had been strengthened in the process.
But the girl missed her chance, she would be back. She was a werewolf hunter after all, and she knew that Kylo was the key to getting his dad and ending the werewolves altogether. Her resolve only hardened as she fled into the shadows, plotting her next move.
Luna was able to get Kylo home safely. He looked at her with gratitude in his eyes. "Thanks, Luna, for not making me shift," he said, his voice filled with relief.
Luna looked into Kylo's eyes, her determination unwavering. "I am going to try and save you, Kylo, without ever using your wolf," she said, her voice resolute but gentle. "I will only ever ask you to do it if you are in serious danger, okay?"
Kylo's eyes softened, a small, hopeful smile playing on his lips. "Okay, I trust you, and I'm glad we can be close again," he replied, his voice filled with sincerity.
Luna chuckled softly, her eyes glimmering with affection. "Me too, but no more danger, okay? You are like a magnet for it."
Kylo laughed, the tension easing from his shoulders. "I promise, I'll try my best to avoid it," he said, his tone lighter. "But you know, it seems to find me no matter what."
Luna squeezed his hand gently. "We'll face it together, whatever comes our way," she said reassuringly. "Now let's go inside and get some rest."
Kylo went inside, his steps lighter now that the burden had lifted, while Luna stood outside for a moment, her eyes narrowing in determination. She would not let the girl come near Kylo again. Luna's resolve hardened; she was going to find out who the girl was and put an end to her threat.
Taking a deep breath, Luna turned and walked away from the house, her mind already formulating her next steps. The shadows of the night seemed to whisper promises of vengeance and protection. She would do whatever it took to keep Kylo safe, even if it meant facing dangers she had never imagined.
As Luna disappeared into the darkness, she knew one thing for certain: the girl had made a grave mistake, and Luna was determined to ensure she would not make another.
