Avrail was looking at the mail and noticed that they received something from the town. It had a list of safety precautions to take while going outside. It had been 8 weeks since the town meeting that they discussed the vampire invasion. The town had three more vampire interactions since then. They were becoming good at taking care of the situation. The voters in the meetings had decided to put gas cans in multiple locations around town. The gas cans had been useful in all three of the new attacks. Dark camera's were set up on the streets, and the vampires skins were noticeable from the effect the camera had.
Avrail put the flyer down and watched as Terran, who was in his chair at the table, reached for his cup. The baby in her tummy kicked and Avrail moved her hand to feel the motion. She was 24 weeks along, and the baby was healthy. She was grateful for the precautions the town had, and it helped her feel like her baby's had a good chance of being safe. She changed her mind on names again, she was thinking Nesbit or Tyker. Mike came downstairs and said he was ready to get to the store. Avrail got Terran out of his seat and they walked out the door.
The store had 4 customers that morning. Terran was sitting at the counter with her on a stool. A lady came to the register and asked Avrail if she heard about the recent visitors that were in town. Avrail said no she hadn't. The lady then continued that a few men had visited the pharmacy. After ordering a prescription, one man asked about the striped yellow signs in town that had "no blood for sale" on it. The phamacy's assistant replied that they were not giving donations at that time of the year. The man mentioned that he knew the town had formed a group to become defensive of vampires. He also asked how they could live with themselves with taking a natural subject away from a person. The pharmacist assistant replied that it was too chancy and that they would still be on the look out for anything dangerous. When their prescription was done they thanked the lady for her service and walked out the door. Avrail said that that was some story. The lady said yes and she would be prepared for the controversial situation again next time. The lady picked her stuff up and waved as she walked out door.
Later that evening Avrail was at home. They were outside on the back porch. Terran had fallen asleep and he was on the love seat outside. Avrail could hear the wolves howling. She had asked Mike about the bay names and he had said maybe. When the logs started to dim, Mike put another log on the fire. It reminded her of the third attack the town had. It was across the street from the diner. A women was trying to run from a vampire. She had fallen while running and the vampire was trying to bite her. A man exited the diner and saw her in that condition. The small shop that was near the area had offered some small wood pellets for a fire to start. The vampire had been dealt with quickly. Avrail and Mike had walked out of the diner soon after the fire started. Avrail had been relieved that the situation was dealt with so quickly.
Later that night while cuddled up next to Mike, Avrail watched as the stars shined through the window. It seemed like so long ago that she didn't know how the future would turn out, and now that it was here. It was nice that the cards kept her life active.
It had been 14 weeks since the town had started extra safety measures. Avrail was 38 weeks pregnant. The town had gotten practice at being prepared for unexpected circumstances. A meeting was held at the school and 400 people showed up. Some of those guests were from other towns.
The baby kicked and Avrail was excited to finally get to see him soon. She had talked to Mike about names and they mostly agreed on Tyker.
Avrail walked over to the forks sporting stores windows. The store across the street had shoppers walking inside the store. A lady came into the store, she went to the tent section. When the lady was done shopping, Avrail cashed her out. The lady mentioned the town meeting and how effective they were. Avrail said that they were and the town was better for it.
The wind blew through the window on Avrail's window sill. Terran was taking a nap on the couch Avrail was sitting next to him. Avrail turned the channel on the television from the movie that was playing. After getting to 15 buttons, Avrail felt something dripping and when she looked down, it was her water. She called for Mike who was in the kitchen. When Mike came into the room, he asked her if she was going into labor. Avrail replied yes, and Mike went to call Eric to meet them at the hospital.
The hospital was prepared for Avrail to give birth and had few questions to ask before getting them a room. Eric cae into the hospital room and Avrail watched as he offered to take Tarren.
It was 5 hours later that Avrail was pushing to get the baby delivered. Mike was her coach and very supportive. After the baby came out the doctor handed him to Avrail, she looked at him, and was glad he was finally there. It had been a good pregnancy and she hoping that an accident didn't happen. He was just like she knew he would be, safely with her. Mike held the baby after Avrail. Eric came through the door with Terran, he pointed at the baby. Avrail told him that the baby was Tyker, his new baby brother.
A few days later Avrail was released from the hospital. She was at home in the living room with both her baby's and it was their first day on their own as a family. She wanted to remember the day for years.
