BPOV (Bella)
Bucky and I entered the lounge and saw Steve, who said he would be waiting. Seeing him made me mad; he abandoned us to Hydra, his friend, and his sister. I wondered why he didn't search for us.
"Bella, Bucky, thanks for coming out to talk to us," Steve said, motioning for us to sit on the sofa.
"You said you wanted to talk," Bucky said as we walked over to the sofa.
"Yes, yeah. First off, This is Tony Stark, Natasha Romanoff, Clint Barton, Sam Wilson, and Bruce Banner." I just nodded my head to them all. I could see the distrust in all of their eyes. I recognized the Stark name. I wondered if he was a relative of Howard. If he was, does he know about what happened to his parents at the hands of the Winter Soldier?
"Can we ask you some questions?" Natasha asked us. Bucky just looked at me for a second before nodding his head.
"Is it safe to be around you both?" The one introduced to us as Clint asked.
"We're no longer with Hydra if that's what you're asking," Bucky answered.
"You're killers, you're basically the bad guys, and now you're here," Natasha said. I wasn't about to sit here and get accused of just trying to survive. Getting up, I started to walk out. I knew that Bucky was behind me; I wasn't about to stay here if this was how it was going to be.
"Bella, wait, please. I just got you back." I heard Steve saying.
"How do you know her, Rogers? You never actually told us."
"Bella's my sister. She went missing a few months after Bucky did, and she's Bucky's wife." I heard Steve telling them. So, none of them knew who I was or who Bucky really was then. Everyone in the room then started shouting; I kept walking.
"Bella?"
"I'm sorry if you want to stay with Steve, but I don't think I can after that. They clearly don't trust us at all. And I would bet anything that they would end up locking us up just as Hydra had. I can't go back to that, not now that I've actually tasted freedom. Actual Freedom. I want you to come with me, but I understand if you want to stay." I gathered the clothes I had on when I arrived and changed back into them before I stopped and waited for Bucky to make a choice.
"I'm with you. You're my priority, no one else." He took my hand, and we left.
"Bella, Bucky, wait, please. Just give me a minute, please." Steve asked as he ran up to us both.
"Why should we? Your friends have made it clear that we are nothing but a threat to everyone here. I will not let them talk to either Bucky or me like that. I may be many things, but do not assume you know us anymore, Mr. Rodgers. You are the one who abandoned us to the hands of Hydra; you no longer have a say in anything that concerns us." I sneered at this so-called brother of mine.
"Now, hold on, Bella. That's uncalled for." Steve tried to grab me, but Bucky stopped him. "Bella, I'm not just going to give up. I thought you were dead. I thought that both of you were dead. What did you want me to do?"
"You look for us and don't stop looking for us." I shouted at him, pushing him back, "You. Don't. Stop. Looking. You have no idea what the fuck we went through at the hand of Hydra, of the things they made us do." I said as I started to punch him. He looked surprised that I was hitting him, but there was a hint of something else, like he was used to this from me. That made this all worse.
"Bella, calm down. Can you please stop hitting me?"
"You didn't even look for us! You didn't look for Bucky! You didn't look for me!" I shouted as I started hitting harder and using my full strength; I couldn't stop; he abandoned us, abandoned me. I was pulled away, getting pulled into a pair of arms, the whispered voice in my ear trying to help calm me.
"Obviously, there is some deep family resentment going on here; tensions are a little high; how about we all calm down, Barnes? How about you take the little wife back upstairs to calm down a little, hmm?" Another guy said. "You've done it now, Tony," Natasha said as I broke away from Bucky; I looked at the guy, realizing that he must be Howard's son; he had the same cocky persona.
"Just like your father…" I couldn't say anything else before I felt Bucky's hand over my mouth, and he was pulling me back.
"I think I need to talk with my wife. Steve, when you've picked yourself up from the beating your sister gave you, come see us." Bucky said as he threw me over his shoulder and walked over to the elevator.
"I'm going to fucking kill you, you little fucking runt!" I shouted as I still tried to get down from Bucky's shoulder to teach the shit a lesson.
The doors closed as I was still shouting the things I was going to do.
"Please calm down. I know that you want to leave, but how about calming down a little first? We can sort all of this out, and then we can leave." Bucky said to me.
"Why should I calm down? I saw him, and all I could see was the fact that he abandoned us to Hydra. We were meant to be his family, and yet he just left us both to that torture. He left us to be constantly tortured; he never looked for us at all. He never cared about us. So why should we care about him? Why should we stay for him? Why? Tell me why, Bucky."
"I don't know, Bella, I feel just as hurt as you do. He was meant to be my best friend, and yeah, you're right, he abandoned us, but there is nothing we can do about it now. But at least you came looking for me. Yeah, you got captured as well, but at least you came for me. He never did. He never cared about us as much as we did for him. So all we have is each other." Bucky shouted at me. I could see the hurt in his eyes; I was sure that he could see the same hurt reflected back at him.
