Prince of Equestria
Chapter 42: New Discoveries
Prince Mario is laying on the streets of Ponyville. He is passed out and bruised from the battle against Tirek.
Kit is passed out as well, after having used up all his remaining energy combined with the symbiote to fight off Tirek.
Eliza hugs Kit and holds him.
Twilight picks Mario up, and holds him in her arms.
Zeke takes his leave from Equestria after receiving a call from The Normandy. The Normandy needed the Umbran warrior for an important meeting.
He waves goodbye to everyone and wishes his new master, The Prince of Equestria, well.
Zeke finds his ship. He climbs inside it and takes off.
Twilight and Eliza shed tears all over their boyfriends' bodies.
Just as Twilight and Eliza were about to call an ambulance, a dark portal appears.
A magical cat emerges from this portal. He is a sorcerer that possesses dark magic with terrifying, cold yellow eyes, a purple & blue robe, a wizard's hat and a staff.
Although he looks evil, perhaps he is not.
The mysterious dark feline looks at the prince's unconscious body. He snatches it.
Twilight raises her eyebrows.
"Um. What are you doing?" asked Twilight
"I'm helping him…" he muttered
The creepy kitty releases his arms. A cloud of dark purple smoke surrounds the prince.
Everyone stares at Mario's body as he glows in a dark purple light.
Mario then starts to open his eyes.
The mysterious feline then goes to Kit next.
He heals him too.
Everyone now stares at Kit's body.
Kit starts to open his eyes.
The prince looks over at Kit.
"We're cured." said Mario, "And fast too."
Kit smiles back at his rival.
"Wow." he said
The dark cat looks at both of them.
He doesn't say anything.
He gets stopped by Twilight and Eliza
"Thank you so much for healing my boyfriend." said Twilight
Eliza also thanks the cat as well.
"Yeah. Thank you for your help. Thanks to you, both Kit and Mario are back to normal." Eliza said
He nods.
Twilight attempts to ask him a question before he leaves
"Who are you by the way?" asked Twilight
He doesn't say anything for a minute, confusing Twilight
He finally speaks up.
A dark portal opens up.
"Ken…" he said, as he left inside a dark portal.

Right after Ken left, MTSP's cell phone was heard ringing.
However, because Mario is still recovering, he doesn't pick it up.
Instead, Twilight picks up the phone.
"Hello? Who's this?" asked Twilight
"This is Nicholas Yates, the Principal of Pinewood High School in Podeneck, New York. This call concerns Mario Rodriguz. Is he home right now?" he asked
"No, he isn't at home. We're outside. Let me go get him…" said Twilight
Twilight calls her boyfriend and gets him off the ground.
"MARIO! Someone wants to talk to you on the phone! It's important!" yelled Twilight
"Ah crap. Okay. Twily." said MTSP
Mario snatches his phone from Twilight.
"Hel- wait a second?! Mr. Yates? What a surprise, my old friend. Principal, what news do you have to tell me at this particular hour?" he asked
"My-my. Since when did you have such good manners? You sound like a king!" said Mr. Yates, chuckling "Anyways, Since you went missing a few years ago, you did not get to finish. You never got to graduate with your peers, and you have not completed your Junior year."
"And? What does that have to do with anything? I am glad to be a dropout. I am in a much better place, mentally, in fact." said the Prince
"The superintendent of schools says you have to go back to school. You are legally required to finish. You fell behind." said Mr. Yates
Mario is about to snap. Flashbacks of the horrendous bullying he had to deal with in all the schools he went to made him furious that he is forced to go back to that hell again, after living an amazing life in Equestria.
Mario cringes. He grits his teeth.
He breathes and sighs. He speaks to the principal calmly.
"So what? Do my parents even know about this? Mom? George? Also, what if I choose not to go? Will I get thrown in jail or something?" he asks
"I already let your folks know about it, and also, it's the rules. You have to go." said Mr. Yates
The Prince is about to lose his temper but he sighs.
"Look, I will think this over. I will get back to you when I give you an answer". MTSP said
"As if I will ever decide to go back to that wretched place; especially with peers I never even met in my life." the prince thought
The prince hangs up.
"This is just bullcrap. You deserve to stay in Equestria! Why waste your life in that system where the vast majority of students & teachers don't even like you?" asked Eliza
"Yeah. You deserve better." said Applejack
"I heard you have to go back to Earth? Just to go to school?" asked Twilight
"Don't worry, Twilight. I am not going to let us be split apart like that. I am not going back. I can continue with my education and catch up some other way to where I can actually stay in my own home." said Mario, "Now if you'll excuse me, I am going to write a quick email explaining my situation."
Twilight blushes.
"I knew he would never leave me. Not without a fight." said Twilight
"And guys. Don't you all worry. I have built up a new life with you all in it and I am not about to leave it just for stupid school." said Mario
The mane six, Eliza, Blackbiter, Spike, Kit and Discord all smile. They are all glad he's remaining there.

Later. When Mario and Twilight went back inside the Castle of Friendship, he sat down on a chair.
He strokes his old cat named Mouster as he sits on his lap. His dog, Wolfshocker, is barking right at him.
MTSP decides to put on his computer glasses and types up an extremely long email on his computer.

From: Mario Rodriguz
Subject: My current situation
Dear Principal Yates,
If this continues, I must file a complaint against the superintendent of schools. You must understand that I can not go back to school, at least not in person. You have to believe me when I tell you this but I don't live in Podeneck anymore. Not on Long Island, not New York, not in the United States, not even on Earth itself! I live in Equestria now and I built up a new life there. As it turns out, I am, in fact, the Prince of that foreign land. It is my duty to preserve it. I have a girlfriend, Princess Twilight, who actually loves me for who I am. I have more friends and family here who love me for who I am. I can't simply go back to live a boring, terrible, awful, disgusting life on that wretched planet, especially since I wasn't even born there to begin with! I would be very open to continuing my education if I could do it remotely. All you would have to do is send all the paperwork, schoolwork and homework over to my castle. Twilight is actually book smart, another former student of Princess Celestia's and is qualified to be a tutor. She can help me get through it. Just please. Understand and send everything I missed over.
I don't want to go back to an environment where I got bullied just because I carry a Sonic plush doll around with me, that I am a Sonic fan, and for being "odd" or "weird". I don't want to go back to where teachers treat me like dirt. I want to stay home and continue my education there.
Not that you would believe me in the first place. Please get back ASAP. Thank you for your time.

While he waits for his old principal to email him back, he receives another email.

From: Blythe Baxter LPS .org
Subject: Pet adoption
Dear Mario,
We have a pet that is waiting to be adopted by someone. Some of our pets have homes already but one panda has not yet been adopted. It seems no one wants to take her.
I think you should have Penny Ling. I know you liked panda bears and you pretty much have a special connection with her. Feel free to stop by the shop and look at it. My boss doesn't mind and encourages this.

In this particular email, a picture of Penny Ling is attached to the file.
MTSP strokes his chin.
"Hmm..special connection? What does that mean?" thought the prince, "Then again, I can use a third pet in my place especially since we just lost Jose the parrot. Mouster and Wolfshocker need a new friend."
The prince then types out a quick reply to Blythe's email, saying he would look into it. He hits send.
Mario goes up to Twilight.
He tells her that he has to leave for a few minutes but he will be back.
The prince teleports to another Earth. This Earth has a big pet store called Littlest Pet Shop.

Littlest Pet Shop
Mario then appears right by the entrance of the store.
As he walks in he greets Mrs. Twombly, the owner of the Pet Shop.
MTSP walks all over the store until he bumps into Blythe.
"Long time no see, Mario." said Blythe
"Yeah, it has been a while, hehe." the prince said
Blythe directs Mario to the small purple panda. The two begin to catch up as friends.
Penny Ling is smiling at Mario.
She is blushing and giggling.
"When Anti-Mario kidnapped us, you also saved us. You tried to do the right thing and you succeeded. For that, you're my hero. I missed you so much, and I want to live with you." said Penny Ling
"She has been talking about you non-stop since that day." said Blythe
Penny climbs into the Prince's arms. The panda cuddles up against his body. He is being smothered with love from the tiny panda.
Mario blushes. Penny Ling is getting attached to him.
He looks at Blythe
"I guess Penny Ling is mine now." said Mario
Mario then gives Blythe a couple of Bits (A/N for those unfamiliar with MLP, Bits is the type of currency that exists in Equestria) that he got from Equestria, which she accepts.
Penny waves goodbye to the other pets at the shop as well as Blythe and Mrs. Twombly.
Mario walks out of the store with Penny. He waves to Blythe and the other pets.
The prince teleports back to the castle of Friendship in Equestria with Penny Ling.

The Castle of Friendship
Equestria
The Prince smiles. He walks in with his new pet panda Penny Ling.
Mario greets Twilight and introduces her to Penny Ling.
Penny grew fond of Twilight as well, and Twilight also got attached to the panda quite quickly.
He sits back down on the chair and puts his computer glasses on.
Mouster and Wolfshocker look at Penny Ling with glares on their faces. They are jealous that she is getting all of the attention.
Within the span of a few hours, The Prince hears back from his principal.

From: Yates at. Podeneckschools.com
Subject: RE: My current situation
To Mario,
Thank you for reaching back to me. I actually thought you were crazy at first and assumed you had too much of an imagination. However, upon further reading the entire thing, you are not the type of guy to lie about something like this. You seemed very serious about it and therefore, I am inclined to believe you. I understand what has happened. Equestria is your home and I will respect that. If you say Twilight, your girlfriend, is so smart and a good tutor, then I trust you on your judgment. I will make sure to send all of the work in. I do not know how it would arrive to such a foreign and strange world but I promise it will all get there. I told the superintendent of schools about it and he reluctantly agreed to the idea.
Please. Do not be afraid to talk to me if you have any questions.

Mario smiles. "I can't believe it. He actually believed me."
"Well, it all worked out, didn't it?" said Twilight
Mario nods.
A few minutes later, all the work got sent in. Complete with textbooks, worksheets, school supplies, and everything else.
"Wow. You have all of THIS that you missed!? This is a lot!" Twilight said
"Ah huh. This is what I get for permanently landing in Equestria and staying there for years." said Mario
Twilight is surprised at how much work her boyfriend missed but she is willing to help him. Help him pass so he can graduate and move on with his life.
Twilight then helps Mario and tutors him on his first batch of work.
Two hours went by quickly, with the amount of 11th grade work he had missed. All of the tests and exams plus every assignment he ever missed.
Thanks to Equestrian magic, and Twilight's help, they are able to get the work done at a faster pace, and in less time.
They both take a deep breath and sigh.
"I think we should finish this for the day and go for a walk." said Twilight, "How does that sound?"
"It sounds fine with me, baby." said MTSP
Mario and Twilight hold hands as they both walk out the door.

MTSP and Twilight are outside, walking in the nice, fresh air. They get treated to a light cool breeze.
A large crowd of Equestrian citizens are walking around as well. Some are hopping and skipping. It's a very peaceful sight.
A strange, human child walks in front of the prince and his girlfriend.
He had long, jet black hair, a dark gray shirt and blue jeans. His skin was light and fair.
The guy looked like he didn't know where he was. How did he even get to Equestria?
The Prince and Twilight walk toward him. The kid bumps into them.
He looks at Mario, in confusion.
Mario rolls his eyes. He starts to snap.
"Watch where you're going next time!" yelled MTSP, "You could have hurt us, you know!"
"Ok, geez! I'm sorry. I don't even know where I'm at!" he yelled
Mario looks at him, and he notices something about the kid.
"Say, don't you look familiar?" asked Mario
The guy thinks about it for a second, then answers him.
"Now that you mentioned it, perhaps I do." he said, "Call me 'Mariomon'." he said
"Ok." MTSP said, speaking a bit quieter, "And I am the Prince of Equestria. Mario The Sonic Plush…"
MTSP looks him in the eye. He is still scratching his head, in confusion. He vaguely remembers this guy from somewhere but doesn't remember much else.
"Come on, Mario. Let's go!" shouted Twilight
"Ok." said MTSP,
MTSP and Twilight both wave at Mariomon, and continue their walk.
They leave poor Mariomon still confused.
The two continue to walk until they have reached the Canterlot Gardens.

Canterlot Gardens
Suddenly. Mario and Twilight are both wandering around the Canterlot gardens.
They heard rumors from citizens that Slade was here preparing to make his attack amongst creatures in Equestria. Whether or not those rumors are true has yet to be confirmed.
The two then come across a strange stone statue. One that was originally next to Discord before he was permanently freed.
The weird stone looks similar to Mario The Sonic Plush in a human form (no hedgehog features at all).
The mouth on this face looks as though he is gritting his teeth in anger while reaching a hand out to someone.
"Not going to lie, this is giving me the chills.", said Twilight
"I know. It's almost as if it was a real man trapped inside.", said MTSP, "Who was this person? And what could he have done in Equestria to make Celestia trap him like this? It's just like what she did to Discord!"
MTSP puts his hand on the statue
The statue shakes and moves.
The statue speaks and sounds a lot like MTSP except this voice was deeper and more gravelly.
"Get your hands off of me!"
It causes Twilight to jump out of her skin. MTSP too.
"Twilight, you should probably go. I'll speak to this..spirit? If it even exists.", said MTSP
Twilight nods. Twilight walks off somewhere else in the gardens.
Leaving only MTSP and the statue's spirit.
"You must be the renowned hero and Prince of Equestria himself. Mario The Sonic Plush."
The prince is surprised by what the spirit said.
"Yeah but uh, how do you know who I am?", asked the prince, in confusion
"Your aura is quite recognizable. Celestia chose well. You are just as powerful as me. You, my great-grandson, are a hero in your own right. I could never be any happier knowing that the good part of my legacy had survived. Your mother even named you after me." , the spirit said
Mario stands there, in shock, at who this spirit really was.
"Wait a second. You're my great grandfather, Mario Rodriguz The First!? Just what are you-I can't even begin to imagine."
"I'd take it no one, not even Celestia, told you my whole story?" , he asked

"I am curious though. How did you even know about me?", asked Mario The First
"My grandpa Abe told me a bit about you. He said my mom specifically named me after you, because she thought I would be a great hero like you someday. He even had some photos of you and Great-grandma Helen together right around when you fell in love. Other than that, not much."
"I see."
"Yeah so can you tell me a little more? I would like to know all about you and your adventures as well as why or how you got turned into stone in the first place" wondered MTSP
"I am glad you asked me this. I am happy to tell you all about it." said Mario The First
He then begins to tell his great-grandson his story.
"In Equestria, I was a great hero. I was just like you and was destined to be prince one day. The necklace you have now, the stallion medallion, was originally mine. I was able to master my transformations into a super pony form to stop monsters that came our way.
Unlike you, however, I was born on Earth. New York City to be exact. My whole childhood was in the city. My father previously fought in the Civil War but he died when I was only a baby. I just grew up with my mother the rest of my life, until I was eighteen and I moved out to Manhattan. I do not want to bore you with my entire life on Earth, so I'll get to the exciting parts.
Anyways, I jumped on a train to get to a small town in Long Island for a nice staycation as it would have been nice to get away from the craziness of the city for a while. The train, however, instead took the other turn and it landed toward a dimension portal, leading me to the foreign land of Equestria.
I woke up and saw a majestic giant pony. I almost freaked out and assumed it was all a dream. She reassured me that it wasn't. Her name, she said, is Princess Celestia. Not long after, I became a hero. A hero in my own right. Whenever a threat had arrived to the peaceful land, I always triumphed in the end. Celestia even entrusted me with a certain medallion. A necklace that would give me true power and be able to transform to look like anything that radiated magic and power.
I felt Equestria was much more peaceful and less discriminatory than Earth, so I decided to claim Equestria as my vacation home that I would go to, back and forth from New York.
However, being a hero to Equestria came at a cost. World War I, which at the time was called The Great War, began. I did not think it would have impacted Equestria but unfortunately it did. Somehow, Germany was able to find out about Equestria's existence and so they wanted to invade it to control it themselves. Celestia and I would not have let that happen so we fought against Germany to make sure they would think twice before coming there.
The only good break I had was meeting your great-grandmother. Helen. She brought around her black cat she named Ken. She was the most beautiful woman I ever saw. I loved her and she loved me too. As we got to know each other more, I showed her Equestria and how wonderful that magical land really is. She even rooted for me and smiled about my heroism, even understood why I had to leave every so often. We even got married in Equestria, and Princess Celestia had officiated the wedding.
When she was pregnant with your grandfather, I was so happy that I would get to be a father. I even planned on moving me, her and my son permanently to Equestria so that we get to spend the rest of our lives there…but then…" Mario The First had said
MTSP shakes.
"Those plans were short lived. Princess Celestia…trapped me…inside this stone statue because she believed I was a danger to many Equestrian citizens." said Mario The First, "Apparently, she thought I would be better off like this. To think she was my best friend, and yet she betrayed me? Not only that, but because of Celestia, I was feared all throughout Equestria. So many of its citizens turned on me. I got my life, freedom and my medallion taken away from me. I feel for your grandfather, having to grow up without his father there, and it was not even my fault!"
Mario's eyes open wide, shocked at this revelation.
His teacher and longtime mentor just petrified his great-grandfather for his heroics?
"Pawpaw. I-I can't believe Celestia did this to you. Don't get me wrong, I love her a lot but honestly, I did not even think she was that cruel. It wasn't even your fault." said MTSP
The prince grits his teeth in anger. Tears are coming down his eyes.
He is starting to feel angry at Celestia for what she had done to his great-grandfather.
"My tip to you, kid, is to follow your own path. You do not have to constantly agree with Celestia on every little thing, and do not let this discourage you from being the hero in your own story. If there was someone I would have entrusted the medallion to, it would be my own great-grandson who had grown to become a true hero in his own right.", said Mario the First, "Just because you and Celestia both fight for the same cause doesn't mean you have to always agree with her methods. There is no need to be so bitter even if you have every right to be. If you let your emotions get the better of you, you'll be seen as a villain. Do not go down that way. Please."
The prince listens to the words of his great-grandfather.
He still feels bitter and angry inside for what Princess Celestia had done. Part of him wants to let it all out, and curse Celestia to everyone he encounters.
But at the end of the day, he knows it wouldn't make the situation any better.
So MTSP just nods.
"I will try.." he said
"That's all I ask. I'm proud of you and don't make me regret that statement.", said Mario the First, "I must go.."
Mario the First's voice is fading. The connection between him and MTSP is breaking.
"NO! PAWPAW! COME BACK!", yelled MTSP as he let tears stream down his face.
Suddenly, all there seems to be left is just the stone statue.
Mario clenches his fists.
He is still angry with Celestia for what she did to his great-grandpa, but he knows he has to redeem the Rodriguz name, and make him proud. Not just for Mario the First but for Twilight, all his family and friends, but most of all.
All for Equestria.
Twilight then walks to her boyfriend.
"What was that all about?" Twilight asks, confused
"It's a long story.." said MTSP, "All you need to know is that, for the time being, I really hate Princess Celestia."
Twilight cocks her eyebrows.
"Why?", asked Twilight
"She disgraced my great-grandpa, that was why.", said MTSP, "He did nothing to deserve such a fate cast upon him. Perhaps that was why my grandpa Abraham and my father Tony turned out to be messed up."
Twilight lets this sync in.
She wants to defend Princess Celestia to Mario, as she was her mentor and teacher as well. Not only that but Celestia was like another mother to Twilight.
But then she looks at her boyfriend, who seems to be hurting badly from the new information he heard.
She wraps her arms around him.
"It'll be okay in the end. I promise." Twilight said

Meanwhile, Slade peaks out of the bushes of the Canterlot Gardens.
Slade looks at the sight of Mario and Twilight hugging each other.
He smirks.
"This is such a sweet moment. Too bad it won't last very long.", said Slade, "Once I am done killing all the titans, those two are next."
