Chapter 43- The Shock of a Lifetime

At night, Kit was walking down the street, thinking of his plans for tomorrow. He planned to go to the gym with Brian, to grow stronger. He also thought of taking Eliza out somewhere. The lights seemed eerily dim and the atmosphere was rather quiet. There was no moon out, but Kit could feel it was only invisible up in the sky. It felt warm even though the sun went down two hours ago. A sudden chill ran down Kit's back. He could sense the presence of someone nearby. Someone quite sinister. Kit proceeded into a dim alleyway with very little to no lights illuminating the way. As Kit was approaching the middle of the alley, a dark figure whose only visible part was the half of his mask painted orange stepped forward.
"Hello." said the figure.
"Who are you?" asked Kit.
"I don't believe this meeting was accidental. I know who you are, Kit. I have been watching you and your friends for some time now."
Kit is taken aback by this statement.
"I won't ask this question again. Who are you?"
The figure chuckles. "Some choose to call me Deathstroke. Others choose to call me….Slade."
Kit's eyes open wide.
"Slade, is it?" Kit said.
Slade nods. "Again, I don't think our meeting here is a coincidence. I have an offer for you, Kit. Join me. Leave your friends behind. In return you can have whatever you want. Whatever you desire….it's yours."
"Anything, huh?" said Kit, smirking.
"Well, only if you turn on Prince Mario and his lapdogs. Then you shall be rewarded. And you'll be fighting at my side." Slade replied.
Kit has worked for another villain before. Lord Zarkiar. Slade is different however. He is mysterious. Kit thinks for awhile. He can trick Slade and join him, but risk having his friends turn their backs on him, or confront Slade and possibly die.
"Perhaps I can do it again. I hope he doesn't find out I am tricking him. And I hope my friends understand in the end." Kit thought.
Kit fakes an evil grin. "Alright, Slade…it seems we have a deal. I couldn't stand that prince anyway. Nor any of his useless friends. I planned to betray them all. I'll join forces with you if it helps get rid of Mario once and for all."
Even though Slade seems expressionless on the outside due to his mask, inside he has such a crooked and hideous smile.
"That, is exactly what I wanted to hear, Kit. I'll be seeing you soon."
Slade vanishes into the darkness. The howling of a wolf sends chills down Kit's spine. Had Kit made a mistake?
"I…hope they can forgive me." Kit sighed.

Mario and Twilight are walking through the magical streets of Ponyville on a beautiful, sunny day.
"This is great. It's not very often that we get to have more peacetime together." said Mario,
"I know." said Twilight
Suddenly. His phone starts beeping and ringing like crazy.
He looks at his phone. A name that he remembered popped up.
Serena Asagi
Somehow. Mario forgot to remove her from his contact list.
For a few seconds, he hesitates to answer. Then sighs
"My ex is calling me, Twilight." said Mario
"Really? I didn't know you dated someone before." said Twilight
"Yeah. Unfortunately, the Wicked Witch of the West is a sore subject." said Mario, "I wonder what she actually wants with me now."
The Prince reluctantly answers.
"Hello." he said
"Oh, Mario. What's up?" asked Serena
"Nothing much. So. What is so important that you had to call me just now?" asked Mario,
"Well. I have some news to tell you." said Serena,
"Well. Go on. What is it, then?" he asked,
"I don't know how to say this but..you and I um, you have a SON!" Serena blurted it out
Mario spits.
"W-what?!" he yelled
"Yes. His name is Joseph." she said
"OH NO!"
Mario blurted it out.
"Well. I know where you live now and I thought it would be a good idea for Joseph to visit his father. He has been dying to meet him for some time now ever since I told him the truth about you. We are even moving here to Equestria so we can be closer to your location." said Serena,
Mario scratches his chin. He sighs.
"I don't know. I guess I could try, I just have no idea how to take this all in. I didn't know that we actually shared a child together." he said,
"Well, that's good. When are you available?" she asked
"How about weekends?" he asked,
"That doesn't sound like a bad idea. Alright. We'll see you Saturday." said Serena,
Mario hangs up the phone.
"I am sorry, Twilight…" he said shamefully, "I had no idea about this kid or anything. If you want to break up with me, that's-"
Mario gets cut off.
"No! Why would you say that?! I will never break up with you. I would never. You suddenly found out you and your ex have a son. No biggie. I don't care. I still love you just the same." said Twilight
The prince smiles.
"Really? You mean that?" asked MTSP
"Of course." said Twilight

Before they knew it, Saturday had come.
A knock is heard on the door.
Mario goes outside the front door of their castle of friendship. Twilight followed him.
He sighs and looks at Twilight.
"Are you sure this whole thing is a good idea?" The prince asked,
"It is good for you and Joseph to get to know each other so I'd say yes." said Twilight
Mario facepalms
"Ugh." he said, "This is going to be one slow weekend for sure."
Mario opens the door. He sees his son, Joseph Asagi, come in.
Joseph's mother, Serena, looks at her son and Mario.
"Joseph, my son. Be on your best behavior for your father." she said,
"I will." said Joseph, with a smile.
"Mario. Take good care of him. Please." said Serena
"Uh…alright. I will try." said Mario
Serena Asagi then walks right out, and begins to leave.
Joseph looks at his mom one more time.
"Bye, Mommy!" he said with a smile
Mario then shuts the door and locks it.
Mario then smiles at his son.
His son, Joseph Asagi, has blonde hair. He looks more human than hedgehog and has most of his features from his mother.
Yet he has the exact same eyes as his father. The shape of his eyes are reminiscent of the prince, as well as the green color in them. He has the prince's smile as well. His eyebrows are from Tony Rodriguz, Mario's biological father and Joseph's grandfather by blood.
"So. What do you want to do?" he asked,
"Um. Daddy. I want to go to the park." said Joseph,
"Alright, kiddo. You got it." said Mario,
Twilight interrupts Mario
"Um. Not to intrude on your father and son bonding time with Joseph, but is it alright if I give him a tour of our castle first?" asked Twilight
"Twilight, we can do that later. No rush at all." said Mario, "Besides, me and Joseph ought to get to know each other first."
"Fair enough." said Twilight
"Joseph. This is my girlfriend, Princess Twilight. Who knows. She might even become your step-mother some day." said Mario, introducing Joseph to Twilight
Joseph blushes hard. He can't get over how pretty his father's girlfriend looks.
"Uh..h-hello there!" said Joseph
Twilight giggles
"You are a very cute one indeed. Like father, like son. It's nice to meet you." said Twilight,
Mario grabs his phone.
"We'll be back by 6." said Mario,
Twilight nods.
"Bye Twilie!" said Joseph, smiling, "See you."
Mario unlocks the door and he holds Joseph's hand to get out of the castle.

MTSP and his son, Joseph are walking through the streets of Ponyville.
On their way to the park, Mario and Joseph see the Carousel Boutique.
It's the shop where Rarity, who is Prince Mario's other girlfriend, manages and lives.
"I think we can stop by here for a bit. I want to talk to Rarity, and introduce you." said the prince
Joseph nods.
"Trust me; you'll love her." said MTSP
Mario and Joseph open the door. They walk right into the shop.
Rarity greets them.
"Hello, darling! It's good to see you." said Rarity,
"It's good to see you too." said MTSP, blushing at her
Rarity looks at Joseph. She is confused.
"Who is that kid with you?" she asks
"Oh. That's my son, Joseph." said MTSP
"Your SON?! I didn't know you had a son!" exclaimed Rarity, in shock
"Yeah, hehe. Me neither. I just found out from my ex that we shared a child." said Mario, blushing, "Joseph, this is Rarity."
Joseph blushes at Rarity. He is too shy to speak to her.
"H-hi." said Joseph, shyly
"It's nice to meet you, Joseph." said Rarity
"Well, I'd like to stay a bit but I want to take him to the park. We need some father-son bonding time." said the prince
"Of course. Go right ahead. I'll see you later.", said Rarity
Mario and Joseph exit the building.

Finally, they reached the park.
Mario walked Joseph over to the playground.
Joseph wanted to go on the slides so MTSP took him there.
Joseph walks around the entire playground area and then he slides down.
Mario catches him. The father and son both laugh.
MTSP takes his son by the hand. He asks him.
"Want some ice cream?" he asked
Joseph nods.
"Ok, then.", said MTSP
Mario and Joseph walk over to an ice cream truck.
A yellow-orange, stallion pony with a hat is running the truck.
He looks at the two.
"Hello there. What would you like to get?", he asked
Mario ordered a chocolate ice cream cup with chocolate sprinkles for himself. Joseph orders the same thing except in a cone.
A few seconds go by, and they get their ice cream.
MTSP pays five bits to the stallion and they leave.
The two started eating their ice cream.
"Yum.", said Joseph, "This is delicious."
Mario nods at his son.
He thinks to himself.
"You know. Maybe being a dad isn't so bad. I wonder if I should give this boy some siblings to play with? I'll have to consult Twilight and Rarity about that.." Mario thought

Meanwhile, Kit and Eliza are enjoying themselves. They are breathing in the fresh air while walking around the park.
"This is a beautiful day, Kit." Eliza said, with a smile
"I know.." said Kit, "I just wish my parents were here to see this…damn gang."
Kit clenches his fists as he lets out his emotions. He tears up just thinking about the folks he never knew, real parents that actually cared, and how much he was abused by the folks that raised him for half his childhood at the foster home.
Eliza puts her hand on his shoulder.
"I'm sorry, Kit.", said Eliza, "They sound like good people. I wish you had them there as parents instead of those monsters. You wouldn't have felt the need to run from home."
"I know. It's a CRIME that their lives were taken so soon.", said Kit, as he grits his teeth.
The couple continues walking, until they see Mario The Sonic Plush with a kid. A blonde haired boy, around five years old.
The two walk up to them.
"Mario, it has been a bit huh? Hello!", greeted Kit
MTSP punches Kit in his stomach.
The prince laughs.
"Don't forget, I can demolish you right now!" MTSP said with a smirk.
Kit sighs, but let's out a smile.
"Mr. Plush!", exclaimed Eliza, "It's been a bit. Sounds like you're babysitting, eh?"
Eliza bumps Mario on the shoulder.
"No. I'm not. Eliza and Kit, this is my son, Joseph Asagi." The prince says
"Hello!", exclaimed Joseph
Kit and Eliza stand there in shock.
"YOUR SON?!"
"Yup.", said MTSP,
"Oh. Wow. Now that you mentioned it, he has the exact same eyes as you.", said Kit
"And his smile.", said Eliza
"Yeah hehe. Like father like son.", said MTSP
"So. When did this come about?", asked Eliza
"Remember that whole thing me and my ex-girlfriend Serena shared before we broke up?", he asked Eliza
Eliza nods.
"Yeah. I remember it very well. That was the time where I finally got through to your head that you need to break up with her and find new love.", said Eliza
"Yup. Well, it turns out that one night, we created a child that we now share.", said Mario, "And I didn't even know about it until a few days ago."
Kit and Eliza stare at Joseph in awe.
"Wow.", said Kit
"Well, he is just SO CUTEEEE! He is just like you.", said Eliza
Eliza pinches Joseph's cheeks. She is already growing attached to her best friend's son.
"Well, we have to get going. I want to spend more time with my son.", said Mario
"Okay. We'll see you later! Oh, nice meeting you Joseph!" Eliza said
She and Kit wave to them.
Slade is looking at Kit, peeking through the bushes, as he is staring at him and Eliza.
"Excellent.", Slade said, "My plan for kill and domination will come to fruition. Once Kit succeeds at the assignment I gave to him, I'll have no further use of him."

Mario then took Joseph over by the swings.
He helps his son get on. He pushes him on the swing.
This goes on for about three minutes until he spots his younger brother, Anti-Mario, walking two twin newborn babies in a stroller.
Mario takes Joseph off the swing.
"Hey! Mario! Long time no see!" Anti-Mario said, waving at him
"Yup, bro. It's been a while." Mario said, while giving him a high five, "Anyways, what are you doing with a stroller and two babies?"
Anti-Mario looks at his older brother.
"And what are YOU doing with a five year old kid?" asked Anti-Mario
"He's my son. His name is Joseph." said MTSP,
"Oh." said Anti-Mario, "And these two babies are my kids. Nazel and Maya. They are fraternal twins. Nazel is a boy while Maya's a girl. Nazel takes after me more while Maya takes after their mom."
Nazel looks more like Anti-Mario except his skin is pale, light cerulean, taking after his mom. Maya has a bit of rainbow colored hair, and she looks more like her mom than her brother does.
Joseph looks at the two and smiles.
"Wait. So that's what you have been doing all this time? Wow. Anti-Mario's a FATHER!? I'm impressed. I am surprised you even know how to be a parent. No offense, but you act way too much like a child." said MTSP
"Shut up! Just SHUT UP!" yelled Anti-Mario
"Well, Joseph. This is your uncle Anti-Mario with your new cousins Nazel and Maya." said MTSP introducing them
"Hi Uncle Anti-Mario! Hi babies!" he said
Joseph plays with his two baby cousins at the park.
He plays peekaboo with them, which is his favorite game he played with his mom.
Nazel and Maya smile at their big cousin. They enjoy his company. They trust that he will not harm them.
The two brothers have a laugh about it.
"Sounds like they are getting along well, eh?" asked Anti-Mario
"Yes. They are. They seem to be having a blast." said Mario
Anti-Mario looks at his watch.
"Aw crap. I have to go. Rainbow's going to kill me if I don't get back to our house in Cloudsdale." said Anti-Mario
Anti-Mario takes Nazel and Maya. He puts them back in the stroller.
"Ok, bro. We'll see you later." the prince says as he waves at them
"Wow. I am a father AND an UNCLE?! What a twist." MTSP thought, while smiling
Hours pass by and it is already starting to get late.
Mario takes Joseph by the hand. He tells him it's time to leave.
The two walk back to the Castle of Friendship.

A day has passed.
Twilight had shown Joseph the entire castle of Friendship. He was very affectionate with all the pets (Mouster, Wolfshocker and Penny Ling.)
He and Spike also became very good friends, almost like brothers. But now it was time for him to go home.
Joseph is sad at the thought of leaving his dad, his family and friends behind, but Twilight reassures him that he'll see them next weekend.
Mario and Twilight are standing right next to each other at the door. They both see Joseph leaving with his mother.
Serena Asagi looks at her ex-boyfriend with a smile.
"Thank you for taking care of our son. He really seemed to love it here." said Serena A.
Mario nods.
"We created a good kid, it seems." said the prince
He has a disappointed look on his face. He looks at Serena and Joseph in shame.
Serena and Twilight take a look at each other.
"Hello. My name is Princess Twilight Sparkle. I am Mario's girlfriend and the one that has captured his heart. I've heard about you." said Twilight
"Likewise, Princess of Friendship." said Serena A., "Let's be friends. For Mario's sake."
Twilight nods with a smile.
The two shake hands and form a really nice friendship.

The prince's expression then changes.
Everything besides the smile and the eyes, remind him of that woman. His ex-girlfriend, Serena Asagi. The one that broke his heart a long time ago. The one he thought he would have finally been away from.
He couldn't even stand Twilight befriending her.
Just looking at Joseph brought him back those painful memories. Memories that he'd rather forget.
He grits his teeth and growls. He lets tears out.
"Don't…come back HERE! AGAIN! You are a MISTAKE!" yelled Mario, "Just like YOUR MOTHER!"
"Mario!" yelled Twilight in shock, that her boyfriend would say that to his kid
"And Serena, you are BANNED HERE! I don't want any SIGN OF YOU AGAIN!" yelled MTSP, "GO!"
Joseph's tears stream down his face. He feels betrayed that his father said this to him. That he was a mistake.
Serena and Joseph walk out the door, without saying goodbye to Mario.
Twilight stares at her boyfriend. She slaps him in the face.
"How DARE YOU say that to your SON!" yelled Twilight, "He did nothing to you! The time you took him to the park and had fun?! Did that not mean anything to you?! While what you and Serena did back then was wrong, it's not Joseph's fault that it happened! He didn't ask for it!"
"B-But I…" Mario stammered.
"Think about it! You're going over there right now and apologizing to your SON!" Twilight yelled
Twilight is about to take Mario where Serena and Joseph are- but suddenly, she didn't need to.
A knock on the door is heard, Twilight opens it and standing right there happens to be Joseph with his mom.
Serena Asagi looks at both her ex and Twilight.
"I can't take care of him anymore. I am not a good mother. I don't treat him like I should. I neglected him most of the time, and when I did see him, I would get angry at him easily. I'd be better off not caring for a child in the toxic environment I created. While talking to our son, he mentioned something about his dad. He said how he had much more fun and felt even happier around his father than his own mother. I feel like crap, not being able to take good care of him. I didn't raise him very well, and he'll grow up to do bad things in life if he remains under my care. So. I am leaving him here.", said Serena A
MTSP starts to tear up. He didn't know his son still spoke so highly of him, and he had no idea his ex treated his son badly.
Mario sees Joseph's eyes again.
The soft look in the boy's eyes makes the prince take a deep breath. He cracks a smile before becoming serious. He remembers the fun day he had yesterday with his son, and how he would like to do more things like that again.
Joseph was more than just a kid he and Serena happened to share. More than blood.
Joseph was truly his son.
This makes the prince have a change of heart.
He feels guilty over it. He feels like he is becoming a monster just like him.
He kneels down to his son and apologizes to him.
"I-I'm sorry. I didn't feel like I was ready for fatherhood. I also had no idea how your mother treated you. What happened between me and your mother was a long story, but never forget that I love you." said Mario
"But you said I was a 'mistake'. What does that even mean?" wondered Joseph, with a frown on his face.
"I am sorry I ever made you think that! You are not a mistake! I love you! I can't really take back what I said but I can make things better between us. I don't want to become like my father was to me. I don't want to let things that happened in the past affect the way I parent you. From now on, I'm going to be the best dad you'll have, and I am going to make damn sure you get what you need and what you want." said Mario
Mario holds his hands out to Joseph.
"Now come to your old man and hug me!" he exclaimed
Joseph's expression changes. He runs up to hug his dad. He smiles. Mario smiles too.
"Awwwww." said both Twilight and Serena A
Mario then walks up to Serena. He breathes in and out.
MTSP looks at his ex, but is more civil about it.
"Don't worry, Serena. We'll take good care of him. We'll do it better." said MTSP
"Good." said Serena A
Serena A hugs her son Joseph and kisses him goodbye. She walks right out the door.
Joseph is smiling at his dad and Twilight.

Days have passed.
Mario and Twilight now have full custody over his son Joseph. He was signed over to them in family court.
Serena Asagi is allowed visitation rights on weekends.

Mario, Twilight, Spike and Joseph watches the Summer Sun Celebration of 2021 in Ponyville. Rarity, Rainbow, Pinkie, Applejack, Fluttershy, Discord, Trixie, Kit and Eliza came as well.
Joseph stands in awe. He sees Celestia and Luna both raise the sun, as well as the moon, together.
For the first time in his life, the boy sees his first true magical moment.
Unfortunately, this wasn't to last.
A giant ship comes crashing down.
Every pony-like creature is screaming.
One door opens and an entire army, led by a certain hippopotamus, comes out of it. It is Zarkiar's army led by Commander Rengo.
They all surround the crowd. Joseph hides under Mario.
Suddenly, they see a glimpse of a glowing man with a cape.
It is no other than Lord Zarkiar.
Zarkiar stares at the two princesses.
He smirks.
"A pleasure to see you, Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. Get comfortable now because I'll take over and become Equestria's new ruler." said Zarkiar
Celestia and Luna have fearful looks on their faces.
Zarkiar then spots Kit in the crowd.
"Ah yes. My son. My wonderful, adopted son. I didn't think he would betray all of you for Slade. I'm proud of him!" exclaimed Zarkiar
MTSP, Twilight, Eliza, Spike, Discord, Trixie, and the rest of the mane six all respond to this in shock.
"Your SON?!"
Joseph is left with a shocked and horrified expression on his face.
