Transformers One: Siren Chapter 7

Night on Cybertron's surface is absolutely lovely. So serene and peaceful. The moon and stars shone down on them, radiating their heavenly light. And the luminescent plants from the forest on the mountains added into the picture it's a vision of paradise.

With all this wondrous nature around her, Siren should be busy drinking it all in and studying everything she can.

This is the farthest thing on her mind.

While Siren is keeping up with the group perfectly fine, Orion can't help but notice how withdrawn, forlorn, and despondent she's become the last few hours.

And Orion is well aware of the reason why.

A reason Orion is going to address right now.

Orion deftly moves ahead of the others in order to speak to D-16 in private.

Lightly bumping a fist on D-16's arm, Orion said "Hey, buddy."

"Oh, hey," said D-16, gruffly.

"You've been a little quiet. You all right," broached Orion.

Fists clenched, disdainfully, D-16 said "All I can think about is Sentinel's smirking face. He must pay for what he's done. And the way he looked at Siren. Should've known he was dirty then. Makes me sick that neither of us noticed that before. Remember, Siren wasn't supposed to go down to sublevel 50 with us. I'll bet you anything one of the reasons Sentinel got us out of the way was to get at Siren."

"Yeah, you're probably right that one," said Orion. "I wouldn't bet against it."

"Someone has to do something," said D-16, fists clenched.

"We are. With Alpha's proof inside that device, we will show everyone the truth," said Orin in determined certainty.

Inspecting the beacon in his hand, D-16 said "You honestly believe it'll be that easy? Iacon doesn't want to hear the truth. They worship Sentinel. There's got to be a better way to bring him down."

Wisely, Orion said "We just have to trust that everyone will believe what we show."

Outraged, seething, D-16 said "I trusted Sentinel. With everything. I will never trust a so-called leader ever again."

Orion looks at D-16 in a mixture of worry and concern.

Calming, returning to his old self, D-16 said "There's only one bot that I know I can trust. And he's standing right beside me."

"Always, D. And as your friend, I ask that you heed me now. I know you think violence is the answer to deposing, Sentinel, but it's not. Nor for anything else," said Orion, glancing behind them toward Siren meaningfully.

D-16 gets the message.

"She's angry with me," said D-16.

Shaking his head, Orion said "Not angry, she'd never be that way with you. She's just shook up. And it's not just with what occurred during the chase. What you said in the caves…it really scared her. Just look at her. She hasn't shown interest in any of the nature around us where before she was all busting with excitement. And what's worse...she's not even walking next to you like she normally would."

Facepalming, D-16 groaned "I messed up."

"You did," said Orion.

Regretfully, D-16 sighed "I know."

Placing a hand on his shoulder and squeezing supportively, Orion said "I understand that what we've learned has upset you to a serious degree, but don't let your anger cloud your judgment, turning you into something you're not. This isn't you, D."

Exhaling heavily, D-16 said "Got it. I'll show some more self-restraint. I won't let my emotions get the better of me. I promise."

Smiling approvingly, Orion said "That's all I need to hear. Hey, why don't we take a break? We've been walking with very little rest. Some time to think might do us some good. Iacon isn't going anywhere. It'll still be there in the morning."

"I'm cool with that. I'll take the first watch," offered D-16.

"I'll tell the others," said Orion.

Elita-1 and B-127 are pleased to hear they're getting a respite. Well, B-17 is more so than Elita-1. Elita-1 has more stamina than he does thanks to all the long hard hours she's put in at the mine.

Siren is more subdued, sitting amongst the fauna and staring up wistfully at the stars.

Orion decides he has to fix that and do something to lighten the mood.

Taking a seat beside her, grunting, Orion said "How are you doing? You okay?"

"I'm fine," murmured Siren.

Orion finds that hard to believe.

But he doesn't push the issue, knowing it would just hurt her more. So, Orion changes the subject.

"What was that song you sang for the Primes? I don't believe I've heard it before," said Orion, intrigued.

"It's an ancient one that honors Primus and the Primes that came from his spark. I always liked it, but never really found much of a reason to sing it before."

"You should use it for your first performance on the stage," suggested Orion. "There won't be a single dry eye in the audience."

"You really think that's going to happen," said Siren, doubtful.

"I know it will. Once we set everything to rights. And everyone on the planet can listen to your voice every single day," said Orion, sincerely.

"You know, I'm starting to wonder if you guys only keep me around so you can hear me sing," teased Siren, dryly, head tilted, and brow quirked as she silently demanded an answer.

"Well…not only," said Orion.

Siren can't stop the smile and giggles that escape her lips.

"Aha! I knew that smile was in there somewhere. There's the Siren we know and love," said Orion, grinning victoriously.

Love?

Orion and Siren both subconsciously catch that at the same time.

Twin blushes appear on their faceplates and the two awkwardly look away.

A few minutes pass by with the two of them not saying anything. A silence that is eventually broken by Siren.

"Orion…," said Siren, turning suddenly shy, tentatively. "When you said there are other qualities besides my voice that you like about me…What are they?"

Now that Orion did not see coming.

Clearing his throat, rubbing his neck sheepishly, and avoiding eye contact with her, Orion said "You have poise, grace, eloquence, and ingenuity to spare combined with your innocence and purity. Siren, you are sweet and never see the bad in anybody even when they've been awful to you. Your beauty, virtue, kindness, compassion, and you've always seen the light inside of the darkness."

"Orion…when did you become so metrical," asked Siren, softly.

Shrugging, humbly, Orion said "I don't know. It just came to me. You've always been seen that way to me. I simply put it into words."

"I liked it. It was beautiful," said Siren, warmly.

Orion smiles. Getting an idea, he scans the vegetation around them until he finds what he's looking for. Reaching out, Orion plucks a nearby flower and holds it out to her.

"For you," offered Orion. "To carry a piece of nature around wherever you go."

It's a large, lovely flower that is a deep and stunning sapphire blue along with four distinct petals that are bowl-shaped. The aroma coming from it is exquisite.

After being surrounded by nothing but rock and metal all her life it's a nice and welcome change for Siren.

"Pretty," said Siren, accepting the gift and placing it behind her audio receptor.

"Perfect," said Orion, fondly.

Siren smiles, humming in pleasure.

Orion hugs Siren to his side. She leans her head on his shoulder. He rubs Siren's back soothingly as they stare off into the night sky together, pondering the course ahead.

Unbeknownst to Orion and Siren, D-16 had witnessed the entire interaction from his vantage point overshadowing them.

Something unfamiliar stirs in D-16 as he watches his two best friends together conversing like this.

Watching Orion make advances on the femme that's held his spark, been infatuated with since the day they ran across each other's paths.

Embers of jealousy, envy, and rivalry. Even a touch of budding resentment. Things he'd never once felt before toward them. D-16's eyes turn cold, spark hardening. His optics temporarily flash red before quickly reverting to their normal orange shade with no one else the wiser.

As D-16 is discreetly keeping his optics on Orion and Siren he makes a grave error.

D-16 wasn't keeping watch.

And this…this proves to be a potentially fatal mistake.

Out of nowhere, the five of them are attacked without any sort of warning.

D-16 is hit first with an ion blast that knocks him out cold as his knees buckle. Orion is hit next, then Siren, Elita-1, and B-127. All five are left immobilized and unable to sufficiently protect themselves.

Prior to everything going dark and turning black the last thing Siren saw were transformers of the seeker class flying in, landing around, and reaching for them.

What did they get into now?

Authors Note:

I cannot believe how far into the movie we are with this already. We are way past the halfway point right now. It's crazy. I think this is the fastest I've ever written a story before.

I actually loved the scene where they were walking through the mountains at night. That forest around them kind of reminded me of the one from Avatar. The forest and mountain landscape resembles it greatly at night, don't you think? And since our girl Siren seems to be quite taken with nature so much I thought this would be a good time for her to become even more connected with it.

Those flower has a purpose and will have special meaning later. It's supposed to look like a Himalayan Blue Poppy.

Also, I still need to figure out what her weapon situation should be.

I hope you all like this one! I certainly did while writing it for your vast enjoyment! ;D

For those of you just starting out with my stuff there are other works on my profile that may catch your interest. I highly recommend you take a look as soon as the opportunity presents itself to you. Who knows, you may be pleasantly surprised by what you discover.

Stay safe everyone. Especially with all of these crazy natural disasters occurring a lot lately due to global warming and climate change everywhere for sure. I swear it's like they're getting worse and worse all the time and it's like officials are simply just ignoring it or pretending it doesn't exist entirely just to go on with their daily lives. Especially those in multi-million dollar companies that rely on certain elements of our planet that we rely on to naturally keep us safe instead of adapting and finding new safer ways to keep in business. There are so many options out there where they can adapt, but they just refuse to see it because all they care about is money. Climate change is altering so much faster than anyone can really keep track of.

So, in light of all this, it is important to live life to the fullest as much as anyone can.

I know I am. ;) See you guys next time.
