Special Attacks

The following morning…

After they had gotten a good night's sleep, Ikaruga and Katsuragi woke up early as they were now climbing up the mountain together.

The black-haired girl was ahead of her blonde classmate.

"Once we climb to the top of this, we're at the summit." Ikaruga said as she climbed up using her kunai.

Katsuragi catches up to her as she climbs up only using her hands and feet.

"I'm not gonna be beaten!" Katsuragi told her fellow third-year student as they still both continued to climb up the mountain.

Meanwhile, with Yagyu and Hibari...

Yagyu and Hibari were also preparing to head toward the mountain's top. They had broken camp early, determined to complete their training.

Hibari, though still somewhat sleepy, was doing her best to keep up with Yagyu's pace.

"Are you ready, Hibari?" Yagyu asked, her tone gentle but firm.

"Yes, Yagyu-chan! I'm ready!" Hibari replied, trying to sound confident despite her lingering fears from the previous night.

They gathered their gear and began the climb.

Yagyu led the way, her keen eyes scanning the terrain for any potential hazards.

Hibari followed closely, her determination growing as she drew strength from her friend's calm demeanor.

"We'll reach the top together, Hibari," Yagyu said, offering a reassuring smile.

"Right, Yagyu-chan!" Hibari echoed, her spirits lifted.

Meanwhile, with Asuka…

Asuka woke up, feeling unusually refreshed after sleeping next to Yukio.

She stretched and yawned, momentarily enjoying the peace of the morning. However, her tranquility was quickly interrupted when she realized the Ninja Rider was gone.

"Yukio?" she called out, looking around for any sign of him.

Her concern grew until she spotted a letter left behind on his neatly folded shirt. Picking it up, she unfolded the paper and began to read.

Asuka,

I hope you slept well. I went ahead to continue my task of locating the Seirei Spirit in this area. Good luck with your trial, and stay safe.

- Yukio -

At the end of the letter, she found a small green Omamori lucky talisman with a golden frog emblem on both sides. She felt a warm, powerful mystic force emanating from it.

Holding the talisman, Asuka's initial sadness at Yukio's departure without saying goodbye began to fade. She now smiled softly, realizing the significance of his gift.

"Thank you, Yukio," she murmured, tucking the talisman into her pocket.

She mused briefly if he had given her the charm as a way of thanking her for last night. With renewed determination, she prepared to continue her ascent, holding onto the warmth and encouragement Yukio's gesture provided.

With Yukio…

Yukio finds himself inside a dark cave, carefully navigating the rocky terrain.

His eyes catch sight of a hole forming behind him, seemingly out of nowhere. Trusting his instincts, he jumps down into it without hesitation.

As he descends deeper into the darkness, he pulls out the Twilight Scroll, feeling it resonate more intensely with each passing second. It was clear that the local Seirei Spirit could sense his presence and had decided to test him by inviting him into their domain.

The air grew colder, and the darkness thicker, yet Yukio remained focused.

As he continued to fall, he briefly thought of Asuka, wondering if she had woken up by now. The memory of her peaceful expression while sleeping brought a slightly concerned look to his face.

"I hope that Omamori will come in handy for you, Asuka," he murmured to himself, his thoughts lingering on the gift he had left for her.

With a resolute expression, Yukio braced himself for whatever trials lay ahead, determined to prove his worth to the Seirei Spirit and protect those he cared about.

NinPow 13: Conquering the mountain

A while later…

With Asuka…

Asuka was now wearing her shinobi uniform. She arrived at the mountain and found a dark cave that leads to the inside of the area as she was looking around it.

"Man it sure looks dark in there." Asuka said as she saw how dark it was within the cave.

She makes a quick makeshift torch and heads into the deeper parts of the cave.

As she kept walking, Asuka was also looking at the map of the cave's labyrinth to help guide herself.

"If I go through here, it should be a shortcut." Asuka said aloud.

But as she looked at her surroundings, the brunette couldn't help but feel that the area was giving off a creepy vibe.

"Alright... It's a little scary here. But not as bad as Yami Shibai. I just hope bad nothing pops out." Asuka said before she shook her head.

The red scarf girl stopped walking as she tried to pull herself together.

"Mm-mm, I can't let myself be spooked over just this. I am… The granddaughter of the legendary ninja, after all." She said with strong determination in her voice, trying to convince herself of her abilities.

However…

"That's a laugh!"

A woman shouted in the cave which surprised the teenager as she looked around for the source of the mysterious voice.

"W-Who's there?!" Asuka calls out.

"The Legendary Shinobi? What is it worth, being his granddaughter?"

Soon Asuka saw two red eyes appearing in front of her as she now looked at the form of a giant black cat, which was looking down at the girl.

"A-A monster! Bakeneko(Monster cat)!" Asuka shouted in fear.

The giant cat roars which shakes the cave and causes a few large pieces of rock to fall from the ceiling as they head towards Asuka, which she dodges by jumping backwards and manages to avoid a few more rocks that were falling upon her.

"Bloodlines are nothing more than memories of family ties." The cat stated as it was marching towards Asuka. "It would be foolish to place oneself at their mercy!"

The brunette grabs her swords as she prepares to fight back.

The giant cat soon swings her paw and claws at Asuka, but the brunette was able to parry it as she draws out her blades before jumping backwards.

"I-I'm not at their mercy!" Asuka stated, shaking a little.

"Do bloodlines make you any stronger?" The cat asks and Asuka's widens before the giant cat swings her paw at her again which sends the girl flying before she manages to land on her hand on her foot.

"If not, then what are you?" The cat asked as she stared at Asuka.

"Me…? Myself…?" Asuka mutters as she was in deep thought about that.

"I am…" Before she could finish, large rocks had broken off from the ceiling as they fell towards Asuka.

Asuka saw the rocks but was too late to dodge them as they fell on top of her which made a large smoke cloud around the girl.

When the smoke cleared, Asuka was buried by rocks as they were on top of her stomach and legs. And her swords were out of her hands.

"What's wrong, little girl? Is that truly all you got?" The monster cat asked Asuka in a mocking tone.

"I can't move…" Asuka mutters as she struggles to remove the rocks off of her but soon lowered her arms. "It's no use…"

She winces in pain as she suddenly remembers Homura's words.

"You're not worthy of calling yourself the granddaughter of a legendary shinobi!"

"She was right...I'm not worthy…" Asuka mutters before she remembers a certain memory of her childhood.

"You take after your father, huh?"

Hanzo's voice was heard.

Huh?

(Flashback)

A child Asuka is seen eating some sushi as she was sitting on her grandfather's lap while they were at her family's sushi restaurant.

"My dad? I do?" Asuka asked her grandfather.

Hanzo was watching Asuka's parents as they were making sushi for their customers.

"When I was fiercely opposed to him marrying your mom, your dad gave up his dream of becoming a lawyer, and said he was starting a sushi shop." Hanzo told her.

He then remembers the times that his son-in-law would often bow his head to the legendary shinobi, begging him for his approval to marry his daughter as Asuka's mother was seated beside him with her hands on his future husband's back.

"He said, 'To live my life with the one I love, I don't need dreams, or money, or land, or rank, and right now, that's all I'm determined to do!" Hanzo told her before he chuckled as he reminisced. "And with that determination, he convinced me. Your father is a stronger man than he may look."

Asuka smiles as she turns towards her parents.

"And so is your mother, who fell in love with that man." Hanzo told his granddaughter.

(End of flashback)

Asuka opened her eyes as her determination and spirit were reignited.

'What am I doing? It doesn't matter if I'm worthy or not!' Asuka thought as she managed to pull herself free from the rocks over her as she stood back up.

The giant cat narrowed its eyes.

"So you do have some fight left in you."

Asuka charged forward, picking up her blades as they were now flashing.

"I'll show you my real strength!"

Suddenly, Asuka felt the Omamori charm Yukio had given her resonating with her very soul. A green aura enveloped the girl's body, its warmth and power flowing through her.

The giant cat paused, eyeing the transformation warily.

"What is this?"

Asuka looked at the glowing talisman in her hand, feeling its energy merging with her own. "This... This is Yukio." She says. 'Strange… It's almost like I can feel him directly supporting me.'

She widens her eyes as she remembers the words the Ninja Rider told her last night.

"I feel like I am who I am now because of everyone I met."

"I see… I finally learned something important." Asuka said as she turned to the giant cat, which was glaring at her. "It's because of Jii-chan, Mom, Dad and everyone I met that I'm here now! And just for that, I'm going to continue down my path as a shinobi!"

Asuka lets the green aura empower her blades, letting the mystical energy flow through her.

"Hidden Ninpou! Shin Nito Ryozan(True Dual Slash)!"

Asuka cries as she jumped at the giant black cat and lands a more powerful version of her default special technique on her opponent.

*Slash!*

A double green and purple-colored energy slash hits the monster on its forehead, causing it to cry as the brunette landed behind it.

'This power…! When did this little girl get this strong?' The monster cat thinks, not actually expecting this much power coming off from the girl.

But the black giant soon recovers before addressing its adversary.

"It is the pressure of expectations, and the feeling of inferiority that comes from that pressure, they are small shadows over the mind, and such shadows are not worth fearing." The cat told Asuka before it disappeared as a white mist.

"I-It disappeared?" The teenager said as it was a little shocking to see that.

She stood there for a moment, catching her breath and absorbing what the cat had said.

"Small shadows over the mind, huh?" she mused. "No. I won't let them control me anymore."

Asuka took a deep breath, feeling the green aura around her fade but leaving a lasting sense of inner strength. She glanced at the Omamori Yukio had given her, feeling it's reassuring presence.

The red scarf girl took a moment to check the lucky charm the black-haired boy had left with her, holding it gently in her hand. She felt a mysterious, warm, and welcoming aura emanating from it, enveloping her in a sense of calm and reassurance.

"This charm," she whispered, feeling a surge of gratitude. "It gave me an extra boost."

Reflecting on the recent battle, Asuka realized the charm had perhaps played a crucial role in her victory against the giant black cat. But it wasn't just the charm. Her inner reflection on her bloodline's dilemma and coming to terms with it had also strengthened her resolve and self-belief.

"I feel stronger than before," she murmured, clenching her fist with renewed determination. "But it's all because I now better understand my blood and accept myself."

She carefully tucked the charm back into a safe pocket, feeling its comforting presence close to her heart. With a deep breath, Asuka continued her journey through the cave, each step now more confident and purposeful.

The brunette continued through the cave, her mind wandering to the curious realization that she seemed to draw strength from Yukio, one way or another. The first time this happened was during their duel back at Hanzo Academy.

She remembered their intense battle vividly…

Yukio's relentless attacks had pushed her to her limits, forcing her to dig deep and find strength she didn't know she had. It was in that moment of desperation and determination that she had discovered a new level of her abilities.

"It's strange," she thought aloud, the cave's walls echoing her voice. "Each time he is involved, I seem to unlock more of my power."

Asuka pondered this further.

It wasn't just the physical strength or the power boost from the charm he left her. It was also the emotional and mental fortitude she gained. His presence, whether as a friend or an adversary, challenged her in ways that drove her to grow stronger.

"Maybe it's because he believes in me," she mused, a small smile forming on her lips. "Or maybe it's because he doesn't hold back and expects me to rise to the challenge."

She felt a warmth spread through her chest, a blend of gratitude and determination. Yukio's belief in her, shown through his actions and the charm he left behind, was a powerful motivator. It was a reminder that she was not alone in her journey and that she had the support of those who believed in her.

"Right. But I need to keep moving," she reminded herself, shaking off any remaining feelings of fear and doubt. With renewed determination, she pressed forward, deeper into the cave, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

Unknown to her, the owner of the voice that was speaking through the giant black cat was still watching Asuka in the shadows, from a good distance.

She is a tall, muscular woman with long, flowing black hair and reddish-brown eyes. She wears a tattered gakuran with a cap and metal epaulets, a rope belt, and a pair of tengu-geta. She wraps her bosom in a sarashi, and her wrists with the bandages typical of open-hand fighters.

This is Daidouji.

'Pay heed. What is truly fearsome are one's own weaknesses!' She said in her mind as she watched Asuka's figure slowly disappear from her sight.

Hibari and Yagyu were seen running through the forest as Yagyu was using her umbrella to cut through the leaves and smaller trees as they headed to the summit of the mountain.

"I think once we get through the jungle, it's just one more hop to the summit." Hibari said.

"Yeah." Yagyu said in agreement.

"That's just my hunch." Hibari told her.

"That's good enough. I believe in you, Hibari." Yagyu said before she and Hibari jumped up to the top of the mountain.

The girls soon arrived at the very top of the mountain, but that only applied to Yagyu, Hibari, Ikaruga, and Katsuragi. Asuka had beaten them to it, being the first of their squad to reach their goal.

"Asuka!" Hibari exclaimed, spotting her friend.

"Asuka-san," Ikaruga said, eyes wide open in surprise.

"Asuka!? You're already here!?" Katsuragi cries in surprise, running up to her.

Even Yagyu, normally stoic, raised an eyebrow in surprise.

"It seems you've beaten us here, Asuka."

Asuka turned to them, a proud yet humble smile on her face as she made a victory sign with her hand.

"Hey, everyone! Looks like we all made it." She greets her friends.

Asuka rubbed the back of her head sheepishly.

"I had a bit of help along the way."

"Help?" Ikaruga asked.

Asuka held up the Omamori lucky charm Yukio had left for her.

"Yukio left me this. It helped me find the strength I needed to overcome the obstacles here."

Asuka's friends frowned at the mention of Yukio's name. The mere mention of the Rider bringing forth an unpleasant feeling within them.

The group looked at the charm, sensing the powerful mystic force within it.

"Wait a minute," Katsuragi said, a thought occurring to her. "Does that mean Kamui helped you reach the top faster? Would that be considered cheating, even if you didn't ask for the charm?"

Asuka blinked, taken aback.

"I… I didn't even think about that. Yukio left it for me without saying anything."

Ikaruga folded her arms, considering the situation.

"If Kamui Yukio gave it to you of his own accord and you didn't ask for help, then it's not really cheating. I supposed it's more of a gift from a friend."

"But still," Hibari said, looking concerned, "if it helped you get here faster, isn't that kind of unfair to the rest of us?"

Yagyu, who had been silent, spoke up.

"The purpose of this training isn't just about who gets to the top first to get the scroll Kiriya-sensei placed here. It's also about winning the obstacles and getting stronger. If Kamui's charm helped Asuka do that, then it served its purpose."

Katsuragi sighed, her competitive spirit wrestling with her sense of fairness.

"I guess you're right. It just feels a bit… weird."

Asuka looked at her friends, a mixture of guilt and relief in her eyes.

"I'm sorry if it feels like I cheated. But the charm did help me realize something important about myself and my strength. I wouldn't have made it here without it."

Hibari looked around.

"Where is Kamui, by the way?"

Asuka's expression softened.

"He's still somewhere in the area, looking for the Seirei Spirit. He went ahead to continue his task."

Before the group could decide what to do next, they felt a new presence approaching. The atmosphere grew tense as they turned to face the newcomer.

Or rather, it was actually a person that was simply concealing their presence and decided to reveal herself only now.

Yagyu looked to the side as she stood up and was the first one to notice the new presence. The other girls looked next and they all saw Daidouji standing on a stone pillar as she was looking down at them with the sun shining brightly behind her imposing figure.

"W-Who are you?" Katsuragi asked.

"If thou wish a testament to the victor, perform to the utmost of thy ability." Daidouji told them.

"Eh?" Asuka said in confusion, recognizing the voice.

"What do you mean?" Ikaruga asked.

The mysterious woman showed them a scroll in her hand as the shadow of her cap covered her eyes, showing the red irises.

"I am the final gateway of Teimapaku, and the objective of Hai-kin-gu." She told them.

"The scroll... Then, if we defeat her…" Katsuragi said in realization.

"We're to take it from her, are we?" Yagyu said.

"Yeah, it seems like it." Asuka said, nodding nervously.

"Who are you?" Ikaruga asked.

"I am Daidouji." She introduced herself to them.

"Daidouji?!" Katsuragi said in shock.

"You mean, you're the legendary… Daidouji-senpai?" Ikaruga asked in shock.

"You know who she is?" Asuka asked Katsuragi.

"Just the name. We'd heard there is a legendary ultimate upperclassman, who despite having passed her graduation exams, has volunteered to stay behind for many years." Katsuragi explained.

"Seriously?" Hibari said as she looked at the blonde.

"Th-There's a person like that?" Asuka asked in shock.

"She stayed behind for many years? That's worthy enough of legend." Yagyu said.

"But is she a woman or a man?" Katsuragi asked as she narrowed her eyes at Daidoji.

"She's awfully manly to me." Hibari said with an innocent smile.

Daidoji jumps down to face her kohais.

"One-on-one, I won't even break a sweat. All of you, come at me together!" Daidoji told them.

The shinobi students of Hanzo turn at each other and nod.

The students of Hanzo Academy charged at their legendary senpai, as Asuka and Ikaruga drew out their swords.

"Rargh!"

Daidoji roared as she stomped her foot on the ground which created a shockwave in front of her kohai students, which sent them flying and damaged their shinobi uniforms.

*Bam!*

Katsuragi, Ikaruga, and Yagyu were standing back while Asuka and Hibari were still on the ground.

"This is ridiculous!" Daidoji said in some disappointment.

"What power…!" Asuka said in some fear.

"She's on a whole other sphere…" Yagyu mutters.

"I didn't come this far to be beaten!" Katsuragi shouted as she, Katsuragi, and Yagyu charged at Daidoji together.

Yagyu pulled out her hidden sword from her umbrella, and soon they attacked the legendary senpai at the same time.

However, with a swing of her arms, the imposing woman created another shockwave that sent them flying away and further damaged their shinobi uniforms before they rolled on the ground.

Daidoji was further disappointed as she folded her arms.

"This is ridiculous! The shinobi reputation weeps."

But suddenly…

Before they could continue their battle, a sudden tremor shook the top of the mountain, causing everyone to briefly lose their balance.

"What's happening?!" Hibari exclaimed, trying to steady herself.

*Crash!*

The ground beneath them cracked and heaved, and the cause soon became apparent. Emerging from the top of the mountain were Kamen Rider Shinobi and a massive, ethereal creature made of rocks—apparently the Seirei Spirit of the region.

Said creature is a humanoid spirit with a body made of gray rocks. It has yellow eyes and two rocks on its head that resemble bear ears. It has three fingers on each hand and three toes on each foot.

"*Gasp!* Yukio?!" Asuka shouted, her eyes widening in surprise.

"What is that thing?" Katsuragi asked, her eyes fixed on the enormous spirit.

"It's the Seirei Spirit," Yagyu said, her voice steady despite the chaos. "It must be."

Kamen Rider Shinobi, his purple armor gleaming, dodged a swipe from the Seirei Spirit, countering with a series of swift, precise strikes. The spirit roared in anger, its form shifting and writhing as it fought back.

"We need to help him!" Asuka said, taking a step forward.

"No, stay back," Daidouji ordered, her voice cutting through the noise. "This is not your fight. It's his."

"But we can't just stand here!" Katsuragi protested.

"You are to observe." Daidouji replied, her eyes never leaving the battle. "Sometimes, you can learn a lot by simply watching how the others fight."

As they watched, the masked Ninja Rider leaped into the air, his blade glowing with energy. He brought it down in a powerful arc, striking the Seirei Spirit and causing it to recoil in pain.

(Flashback)

While Asuka and the others were making their way to the top of the mountain, Yukio's path led him downward. He found himself descending into the depths of the mountain, his instincts guiding him towards his target. The journey was arduous, with narrow paths and treacherous cliffs making every step a challenge.

Eventually, the Rider reached the bottom part of the mountain, a secluded and eerie area that felt untouched by time. The air was thick with moisture, and a faint mist clung to the ground, adding an ethereal quality to the surroundings.

Before him stood an ancient altar made of large, weathered stones. Moss and vines had grown over it, indicating its age and the length of time it had been undisturbed. The altar was arranged in a circular pattern, with a central stone that stood taller than the rest, covered in mysterious runes that glowed faintly in the dim light.

"..."

Quietly, Yukio stepped forward cautiously, his eyes scanning the area for any signs of movement. The air was still, the only sound being the distant trickle of water from an unseen source. But he also felt a presence, something powerful and ancient, watching him from the shadows.

The ravenette approached the altar, his Twilight Scroll in hand. As he drew closer, the scroll began to resonate, emitting a soft, pulsating light that matched the rhythm of his heartbeat. He knew he had found the right place.

He took a deep breath and unrolled the scroll, holding it up towards the altar. The runes on the stones seemed to react, their glow intensifying. The ground beneath him started to tremble, and a low, rumbling sound filled the air.

*Bam!* *Crash!*

Suddenly, the altar erupted with a burst of energy, and from within the stones, an ethereal form began to materialize. The figure was enormous, towering over Yukio, its form shifting and shimmering with an otherworldly light.

The Seirei Spirit had awakened!

The spirit's eyes, glowing with a fierce intensity, locked onto Yukio. It let out a roar that shook the very foundations of the grove, causing leaves to fall from the trees and the stones to vibrate.

"Rocks and stones," the Seirei Spirit began, its voice carrying an ancient wisdom, "are the foundation of life. They endure the passage of time, weathering storms and bearing the weight of the world. Just as life is carved from hardships and challenges, so too are these stones shaped by the elements."

The spirit's eyes fixed on Yukio, examining him closely.

"Now who dares to awaken me from my long slumber?" it demanded, its voice carrying both curiosity and a hint of annoyance.

Yukio stood firm, his Twilight Scroll glowing in his hand.

"I am Kamui Yukio, a shinobi. I seek to make a contract with you, Seirei Spirit of Earth."

The spirit rumbled with a low, thoughtful hum.

"A contract, you say? Many have sought my power, yet few have proven themselves worthy. I sense an unusual spiritual power flowing within you, boy. But such power alone is not enough."

The spirit's eyes glowed brighter, and the air around them grew heavy with energy.

"To prove your worthiness, you must pass a test of strength. Only then shall I consider your request."

Yukio nodded, his determination unwavering.

"I accept your challenge."

The spirit's form solidified, revealing his rock-like body with yellow eyes. Its voice echoed like the grinding of boulders, deep and resonant.

"I am the Spirit Guardian of Rock, Gotsumon!"

The ground beneath them trembled as the Seirei Spirit raised its massive arm, summoning a series of boulders and stones that hovered in the air around them.

"Prepare yourself, human boy!" the spirit intoned. "Show me the strength of your resolve and your spirit!"

Yukio took a deep breath, his eyes narrowing in focus. He readied himself, manifesting his Shinobi Driver as he inserted the Shuriken Starter into it.

"Henshin!"

[Dare ja!? Ore ja!? Ninja!]

*Poof!*

[Shinobi Kenzan!]

The test of strength had begun, and Kamen Rider Shinobi knew he had to give it everything he had to prove himself worthy of the Seirei Spirit's power.

(Flashback Ends)

The tremor shook the top of the mountain, causing Asuka and her friends to momentarily lose their balance.

Daidouji remained standing, her eyes narrowing as she assessed the disturbance.

*Crash!*

The ground cracked open, and from the fissure emerged Kamen Rider Shinobi and the Seirei Spirit, the Spirit Guardian of Rock - Gotsumon, locked in fierce combat.

Gotsumon's form was an amalgamation of rocks and stones, its massive body radiating a powerful aura.

Kamen Rider Shinobi displayed remarkable agility and skill as he dodged Gotsumon's crushing blows and countered with swift, precise strikes.

Gotsumon roared, its voice echoing across the mountain top.

"You have proven to be a formidable opponent for a human, Kamen Rider Shinobi," it bellowed, "but you must do more to earn my allegiance!"

Yukio leaped into the air, his blade shimmering with energy.

"I won't back down!" he declared.

*Slash!* *Slash!*

He unleashed powerful purple energy arcs, striking Gotsumon and causing it to stagger back. The ground beneath them shook again, sending more tremors through the mountain.

Asuka felt the Omamori Yukio had given her resonate once more, filling her with renewed determination.

"Yukio...he's giving it his all," she whispered to herself.

Gotsumon, recovering from the attack, glared at the Rider with its glowing eyes.

"Impressive, but the test is not yet over. Show me the strength of your spirit!"

The battle raged on, with Yukio and Gotsumon exchanging powerful blows, their combat creating shockwaves that rippled through the mountain. Asuka and her friends watched in awe, realizing that this fight was more than just a test of strength—it was a testament to Yukio's resolve and the purity of his spirit.

Daidouji, observing the fierce battle, nodded approvingly.

"This will be an interesting turn of events," she remarked, her voice carrying a note of respect for the young Kamen Rider. "Let's see how far his determination can take him."

[Mizu no Ninja! Aqua Shinobi!]

The Shinobi Driver called.

Kamen Rider Shinobi, realizing the need for a different approach, changed into his water form. He focused his energy, preparing to unleash the form's signature water-themed jutsu.

"Suiton! Mizu Shuriken!" he shouted, summoning the power of the water element.

The air around him grew cooler as a vortex of water materialized around him. The swirling water formed a massive shuriken, its fluid body glistening with energy. With a swift motion of his hands, the masked ninja directed the water shuriken towards Gotsumon.

[Finish NinPow: Aqua!]

The powerful vortex surged forward, crashing into Gotsumon with immense force.

*Bam!*

The Spirit Guardian of Rock was momentarily engulfed in the raging waters, its rocky form struggling against the relentless currents. The impact of the water shuriken's strike sent shockwaves through the mountain, causing the ground to tremble even more violently.

Gotsumon roared in defiance, its rocky body absorbing some of the water's impact but clearly showing signs of wear.

The Rider changes forms once again, now adopting his fire-themed one.

[Honou no Ninja! Flame Shinobi!]

Blasts of intense flames erupted from his hands, streaking towards Gotsumon with ferocious speed. The fiery projectiles collided with the rocky exterior of the Spirit Guardian of Rock, causing small explosions upon impact. The heat was palpable, and the flames danced around Gotsumon, trying to find any weakness in its sturdy form.

The Seirei roared in defiance, its rocky body glowing from the intense heat.

But the Rider didn't relent, continuing to unleash blast after blast of fire. He moved swiftly, dodging Gotsumon's counterattacks and finding the right angles to strike. The fiery onslaught was relentless, each explosion sending shockwaves through the mountaintop. The ground beneath them cracked and sizzled from the intense heat.

Despite the immense pressure, Gotsumon stood its ground, enduring the fiery barrage. But Shinobi could see that the Spirit Guardian was beginning to weaken. The combination of water and fire attacks had taken its toll, and now was his chance to push through.

[Shuriken On!]

The Kamen Rider then takes out the Yaiba Ride Shuriken and inserts it into the Shinobi Saber's slot, activating his weapon's Special Finisher. The blade began to glow with a brilliant silver aura, fiery light as it prepared to unleash its ultimate attack.

[Yaiba Charge!]

The energy within the Shinobi Saber surged, gathering into a concentrated form at the tip of the blade. The power of the Yaiba Ride Shuriken intensified the energy, creating a fiery aura around the weapon.

With a powerful leap, Shinobi launched himself into the air, aiming directly at Gotsumon.

"Katon! Honoo no Zangeki(Inferno Slash!)!" The Rider cries.

The fiery energy erupted from the blade, creating a massive, flaming slash that cut through the air and struck Gotsumon with incredible force. The impact caused a massive explosion, sending shockwaves across the mountaintop and illuminating the sky with a brilliant display of fire and light.

*Boom!*

"Argh!"

Gotsumon roared in pain, its rocky exterior cracking and crumbling under the immense pressure. The Spirit Guardian tried to resist, but the combined power of the Shinobi Saber and the Yaiba Ride Shuriken was too much.

As the dust settled, Shinobi landed gracefully on the ground, his blade still glowing with residual energy. Gotsumon, now weakened and defeated, looked at the Kamen Rider with a newfound respect.

"I see… It's my loss. You have proven your worth, human." Gotsumon said, its voice filled with a mix of pain and admiration as he observed the Kamen Rider call off his transformation. "The strength of your spirit and the determination in your heart have earned you the right to form a contract with me."

Yukio nodded, his expression serious and resolute.

"I will honor this contract and make good use of your power." The boy vowed.

He then pulls out a blank Ride Shuriken and points it at the Seirei.

Gotsumon is absorbed into it as his essence changes the blank item into a new amber-colored Ride Shuriken with a picture of Gotsumon in the center, proudly flexing his muscles. A kanji for Earth (土 - Tsuchi) could be seen on the new Ride Shuriken as well.

The contract was complete, and Yukio could feel the newfound power coursing through him.

With this victory, he had taken another step towards his ultimate goal.

'Finally, the Tsuchi Ride Shuriken.' The Rider thinks, proud over his new achieviment.

Yukio took a deep breath, his body weary from the intense battle against Gotsumon. As the adrenaline began to subside, he felt the strain of his efforts weighing heavily on him. Just as he was catching his breath, he felt a familiar presence approaching him.

"Asuka?" Yukio looked up to see the brunette running towards him, a look of genuine admiration on her face.

"You did it, Yukio!" Asuka exclaimed, her eyes shining with pride. "That was an incredible fight. You were amazing out there."

Yukio managed a tired smile, appreciating her words of encouragement.

"Yeah, I guess. But it wasn't easy, I had to prove myself to Gotsumon."

Asuka nodded, understanding the significance of the battle.

"I saw everything. You fought with such determination and strength. You really earned that contract."

Now it was Yukio's turn to check her progress.

"So, how was your challenge? Who reached the top first."

Asuka beamed with pride.

"I did! I pushed myself harder than ever before and made it to the top. But I have to thank you for the lucky charm. It really came in handy."

Yukio shook his head with a gentle smile.

"Asuka, I didn't help you win because of the charm or anything like that. The charm doesn't provide any additional power boost. It mainly serves to draw upon the wearer's inner power when they're fully resolved and without any doubts in their hearts."

Asuka's eyes widened in realization.

"So, it was all me...? Guess I got stronger because I better understood myself now."

Yukio raised an eyebrow at that.

"Well, if you say so. Seems like you went through your own trial, huh? You must have found your strength by facing your doubts and pushing through them. The charm just helped you see that strength within you."

Asuka's smile grew even brighter.

"Thanks, Yukio. I think I understand now."

Meanwhile, Asuka's friends watched from the sidelines. Katsuragi, Ikaruga, Yagyu, and Hibari couldn't help but feel a begrudging mix of admiration and respect for Yukio. Once again, he had shown that he had the skills to back up his words.

As the group stood on the mountain top, catching their breath and absorbing the recent events, Daidouji stepped forward, her presence commanding attention.

"Well, well, Kamui Yukio." She called out, her voice resonating with authority. "I must say, your display of skill against that rock golem was impressive. But I wonder... how would you fare against me in a spar?"

It took the Rider a few seconds to process this as he identifies the older woman before him.

"You're… Daidouji." He says, getting on his guard.

Yukio then turned to face the legendary upperclassman with a scowl, his expression shifting from surprise to determination.

"A spar with you? Sounds cool, but I think we've had enough fighting for one day." He says sarcastically, looking at how the Hanzo Squad girls were just as tired as him from the results of their trial.

Daidouji's eyes narrowed with determination.

"Are you denying me a proper challenge after what I've witnessed? You wield impressive power, and I want to see it firsthand. I propose a duel—if you amuse me, you keep the Twilight Scroll. Otherwise, you get what will happen right?"

A chill ran down Asuka's spine as she imagines Yukio being killed by someone that wants to take the Twilight Scroll from his dead body.

Now Daidouji-senpai also set her sights on him!?

Yukio sighed, realizing he couldn't back down from such a challenge, especially with the stakes involving the Twilight Scroll. He glanced at Asuka and his friends, who watched with anticipation.

"Alright," Yukio agreed reluctantly, stepping forward. "But don't hold back. You will need to take me seriously if you want my scroll."

Daidouji smirked.

"I wouldn't dream of it."

As Daidouji and Yukio squared off, Asuka felt a surge of anxiety. She stepped forward, raising her voice to interject.

"Wait, Daidouji-senpai! We still need to get the scroll from you. This fight—"

Daidouji cut her off, her gaze never leaving Yukio.

"The challenge for the scroll will be put on hold. Right now, Kamui Yukio is my priority now."

Asuka hesitated, glancing at Yukio with concern.

"But—"

Yukio gave her a reassuring smile.

"Don't worry, Asuka. This is something I have to do."

Seeing the resolve in both Yukio and Daidouji, Asuka reluctantly stepped back, joining her friends who watched with equal parts concern and anticipation.

"Let's see what you've got, Kamen Rider Shinobi," Daidouji declared with a feral grin, readying herself for the fight.

"And let's see what makes you the legendary Daidouji," Yukio replied, his determination matching hers.

The two warriors stood poised, ready to engage in a battle that would test their limits. The atmosphere was electric with tension, and the Hanzo Squad held their breath, knowing that this fight could change everything.

As the two prepared for their duel, Asuka and the others stepped back, giving them space. The tension in the air was palpable, and everyone knew this would be a battle to remember.

"Henshin!"

*Poof!*

[Shinobi Kenzan!]

Kamen Rider Shinobi, in his default form, channels energy to his legs as he jumps high in the air and falls to Daidoji, planning to attack her with his Shinobi Saber.

*Clash!*

But the moment he lands on his feet, Daidoji catches his sword with two of her fingers.

'I suppose her muscles aren't just for show.' The Rider thinks in annoyance before he struggles to pull his blade free.

But Daidoji had a strong hold of his weapon.

"Come on! You need to do better than that!" She shouted as she punched his face which, sent Shinobi flying as he let go of his sword before he crashed on his back.

The Rider manages to sit up as Daidoji throws his sword away, facing the masked ninja with a disappointed look.

"Did you seriously beat all the girls here and those five from Hebijo? I find it hard to believe that. I thought the survivors of the Serpent Tragedy were supposed to be stronger than this."

Shinobi flinches before he looks down as he remembers the children that he saw die before his eyes during his first stay at Yami Shibai, then to Asuka and Homura's respective battles the other days and how he clashed against each of them.

The young man growls as he clenches his fist before he looks angrily at Daidoji.

'She is the first person to make me struggle ever since my run into Karasu.' The Rider admits.

He still has a long way to go before being powerful enough to face his mortal enemies.

[Honou no Ninja! Flame Shinobi!]

Shinobi changed into his fire form before he roared as he unleashed an intense flame, which forced both Daidoji and the Hanzo girls to cover their eyes.

As the light has died down Shinobi faces Daidoji with a newfound resolve, ready to face her.

The woman smiles in excitement as she assumes her combat stance.

"Alright, little man. Let's see what you got!" Daidoji said in excitement in her voice.

Shinobi soon brings out a pair of fire claws and charges at Daidoji, all done in high speed to attack her with them.

When he was close enough, Daidoji tried to punch the Rider, but he dodged her attack by the last second using his fast speed, which surprised the legendary senpai as she saw him moving to her back to attack her from behind, swinging his fire claws at her.

But Daidoji quickly turns around and blocks his claws with her forearm, which surprised Shinobi as she pushed his claws away to punch him again, but the masked ninja dodges it again as he moves under her fist and runs past her.

As Daidoji turns around, the Rider stabs one of his fire claws into the ground, to turn back at Daidoji as he runs up to her again before he spins around her, making a circle with his enhanced speed.

Shinobi was about to attack at her side, but then Daidoji stomped her foot on the ground which created a shockwave that sent the masked teen rolling on the ground.

The Kamen Rider quickly stands back up as he and the legendary upperclassman face each other.

"Come on! I know you have more than that! Give me your best shot!" Daidoji told him.

Shinobi growled before he tapped into the power of Shinobi Driver.

[Finish NinPow! Flame!]

Shinobi readies himself as red energy gathers around him.

"Alright! Now we're talking…" Daidoji grins as she brings her hands together in front of her and the Rider runs towards her as his body channels with energy.

"Hidden Ninpo…" Daidoji said as she brought her hands back as she channeled energy in one of them. "Tenchi Senran Mokō Ken!"

"Katon! Rekka-Zan!"

Shinobi shouted as both he and Daidoji's attack clashed against each other, which created an explosion of a bright light that forced Asuka and the others to cover their eyes.

*Boom!*

When the light died down, everyone looked and saw Shinobi, in his default purple form, skidding and the rolling on the ground before his body stopped, lying face down.

"Not even Kamui was able to beat her." Hibari said in worry, and Asuka grits her teeth.

They look back at Daidoji as she was still standing on her feet. But her hand was slightly burned as the woman smirked at the Rider, shaking her injured hand.

"Alright, I'll admit that wasn't half bad. But you're still too early to even dream about beating me." Daidoji told him.

Her victory over Yukio was swift and decisive. Her skill and strength were evident in every move she made. As she approached Shinobi's prone body, intending to check on him, she was taken by surprise as he suddenly grabbed her wrist with a forceful grip.

'What!?' Daidouji thinks in shock, eyes wide as she looks at the masked ninja.

She tries to make him let go of her, but to no avail.

If anything, his hold over her wrist only tightened.

The air around him grew thick with a dark, ominous aura as his visor shifted from yellow to red, giving him a menacing appearance.

*Bam!*

Before Daidouji could react, the Kamen Rider swung a powerful punch into her stomach, sending her flying back with a cry. She crashed into a rock with a sickening thud, spitting drool as the force knocked the wind out of her.

*Crash!*

The Hanzo girls stood frozen, their eyes wide with shock. Asuka, especially, felt a chill run down her spine as she watched Yukio slowly rise to his feet, his movements unnaturally rigid and controlled.

"It can't be…" Asuka whispered, her voice trembling. "Yukio?"

The dark aura around the young man seemed to pulse and grow stronger, his body now exuding an almost malevolent energy. The Kamen Rider, now seemingly possessed, turned his head to face the group, his red visor glowing ominously.

Daidouji struggled to stand, wincing in pain.

"What... what is this power?" she muttered, clutching her stomach.

Asuka took a hesitant step forward.

"Yukio! Snap out of it! This isn't you!"

The possessed Shinobi didn't respond, his attention fixed on the potential threat, Daidouji. The situation had taken a dangerous turn, and it was clear that whatever had taken hold of the boy wasn't going to release him easily.

*Thud!*

Or at least that would have been the case if Shinobi hadn't suddenly collapsed to the ground, his transformation dissolving as he reverted back to Yukio, who lay unconscious.

The dark aura dissipated as quickly as it had appeared, leaving an eerie stillness in its wake. The Hanzo girls, including Daidouji, stared at Yukio's prone form, trying to process what had just happened.

Asuka rushed to Yukio's side, kneeling beside him and checking for any signs of injury.

"Yukio! Yukio, wake up!" she called out, shaking his shoulder gently.

Daidouji, still clutching her stomach, walked over slowly, her expression a mix of concern and curiosity.

"What was that?" she asked, more to herself than anyone else.

"I... I don't know," Asuka replied, her voice shaking. "I've never seen him like this before."

Ikaruga, Katsuragi, Yagyu, and Hibari gathered around, their earlier tension replaced by worry for their friend.

"We need to get him somewhere safe," Ikaruga said, her voice calm and authoritative. "He needs to rest and recover."

As the girls carefully lifted Yukio and placed him at a corner, Asuka glanced back at Daidouji.

"What do we do now? The scroll..."

Daidouji took a deep breath, her gaze shifting from Yukio to the determined faces of the Hanzo squad.

"We continue the challenge," she said firmly.

"What? But Yukio—" Asuka started, her voice filled with concern.

"Your friend is strong. He will recover," Daidouji interrupted. "The challenges you face as shinobi won't always allow for rest or recovery time. This is part of your training, part of understanding the resilience and determination required of you."

"But—" Hibari began, only to be silenced by Ikaruga's raised hand.

"We understand," Ikaruga said, her eyes steely. "We must press on. This is the way of the shinobi."

Daidouji nodded approvingly.

"That's right. You must always be ready, always be vigilant. Now, show me the strength and resolve that defines the shinobi of Hanzo Academy!"

Asuka glanced back at Yukio one more time, then turned to her teammates.

"Alright. Let's do this."

The Hanzo squad regrouped, their earlier determination reignited. Daidouji took a few steps back, readying herself.

"Come at me with everything you have!" she challenged.

With a collective nod, the girls charged at Daidouji once more, their spirits high and their resolve unwavering. The challenge was far from over, and they were ready to prove their strength.

The fierce battle continued, each member of the Hanzo squad giving their all against Daidouji. One by one, they fell, exhausted and battered, until only Asuka remained standing.

Asuka's breath came in ragged gasps, her body aching from the relentless combat. She glanced at her fallen friends, then back at Daidouji, who stood unwavering, her expression both stern and proud.

"It seems you're the last one standing." Daidouji remarked, a hint of respect in her voice. "Show me what you're truly capable of."

'There's no way I'm a match for her...but…' Asuka thought as she looked at Yukio, and remembered the battles she fought until now and against Daidoji.

Asuka stands up and picks up her sword as her friends watch her.

"Asuka-chan?" Hibari said.

Asuka roars as she charges at Daidoji and throws three kunais at her, but she easily caught them with her fingers and soon sees that the brunette is now gone.

Daidoji looked up and saw Asuka was falling towards her as she aimed her sword at her.

'If I run away now, I will have lost to myself!' Asuka thought as Daidoji dodged her attack.

Daidoji smirks as she lands a powerful palm strike on the red scarf girl's abdomen, which sends her flying as her uniform is further damaged.

"Asuka!" Her friends said in worry as she landed beside Yukio.

"Asuka!" Her friends called her.

"Not bad." Daidoji stated as everyone turned back to her.

*Poof!*

Suddenly, a smoke bomb exploded between them, and when it died down Kiriya was now with them as he smiled at Daidoji.

"That's enough, Daidoji." Kiriya told her.

"Kiriya-sensei?" Ikaruga said as she coughs a few times as she was surprised that he's here.

"What are you doing here?" Ikaruga asked.

"Yeah, what's going on here?" Katsuragi asked.

"It was Daidoji here that planned this Hai-kin-gu excursion." Kiriya told them which surprised them. "She wanted to play a part in her kohai's training."

Daidoji then walks to Asuka and the unconscious Yukio as the others step out of her way to look at her.

"Why would the legendary senpai…?" Ikaruga asked.

Daidoji stops in front of Asuka as she begins to wake up.

The brunette sees the legendary senpai smile at her as she brings the scroll to Asuka.

"While your attacks lack experience, you did fight back, and there is value in that." Daidoji told her.

She then briefly looks at Yukio's form.

'And this one is also someone I should keep an eye on.' The woman thinks, briefly wincing as she remembers the unexpected pain the boy caused on her.

Asuka smiles before she accepts the scroll, looking at it with a smile on her face. The others are soon smiling as well.

"Does that mean that Asuka won?" Katsuragi asked.

"Well, I guess there's not much we can do, huh?" Ikaruga said as she shrugged and Yagyu nodded in agreement. "After all, she was the first to reach the top as well."

"Isn't that great, Asuka-chan?" Hibari asked and Asuka nodded.

The sun was beginning to set as Kiriya and Daidoji were talking with each other.

"That girl has considerable strength still dormant within her. She still hasn't realized it, though." Daidoji told Kiriya about Asuka's potential as he turned to her.

"You can tell that, huh?" Kiriya said.

"Latent strength is unconscious strength. As such, she is a double-edged sword." She said with a smile before frowning as she eyed Asuka, who was rubbing the scroll on her cheek. "But if she takes the wrong path, she could arrive at the same place as the other."

"I won't let that happen. Not again." Kiriya swore as he looked up at the sky and saw Rin's face smiling down at him.

"Sensei, I'm going to be a super-ninja!"

Kiriya lowered his head as his bangs covered his eyes.

"What is written on it? Hurry up and open it!" Katsuragi demanded as she was eager to see what was inside.

"S-Sure." Asuka nodded as she began to open the scroll.

"Katsuragi-san, you're being improper." Ikaruga told them.

Katsuragi pouted as she got close to Ikaruga's face.

"But you're interested too, aren't you?" Katsuragi asked, and Ikaruga's cheek turned slightly red as she smiled and Katsuragi smirked to see that.

"Well, sure…" Ikaruga mutters.

Hibari smiles as Asuka opens the scroll and looks at it.

Much to her surprise, there were only seven words on it.

"Seriously? Well, what does it say?" Katsuragi asked.

"Power is a sword and a shield." Asuka told them as she read the words written on the scroll.

"Okay, but what does it mean?" Ikaruga asked.

"That is the greatest secret of the shinobi, written down by Master Hanzo himself." Daidoji told them as they turned to her, and Asuka then remembered the words her grandfather told her when she decided to become a shinobi.

"Power must be a pairing of the katana and the shield."

Asuka finally understood what her grandfather meant by that, before she walked forward holding the scroll in her hands as she looked at the setting sun.

'I'm not going to whine anymore. Jii-chan, I'll do my best!' Asuka swore to herself.

But then she spared a glance at the unconscious Yukio, soon looking at him with a concerned expression on her face.

'A sword and a shield. Which one of us is which, Yukio?'

Somewhere else…

Nightime…

A woman was standing on a cliff with a view of the ocean.

She has fair skin tone and is average in height, a pair of silver eyes and an innocent appearance. Her long lavender hair is tied in a half ponytail.

The woman's attire consists of a white t-shirt, a dark-blue pantyhose and dark green shoes. There was also a platinum-colored ring on her finger, of which one could conclude she was married.

She sported a concerned look on her face as she held an open scroll in her hands.

"There you are, Fuyuka."

The woman turns around to see a person approaching her.

It was her husband.

He is a tall, muscular man with dark tan skin, spiky black hair and brown eyes. The man has thin facial hair around his mouth and on his cheeks. The husband was wearing a dark green-colored short-sleeve shirt, brown shorts and black shoes.

"Akio." She greets the man, still sporting the concerned look on her face.

The man gently placed a hand on his wife's shoulder, sensing the tension in her posture.

"What did you feel this time, Fuyuka?" Akio asked, his voice steady and calm. "I noticed you come to this cliff often, always gazing in the direction of the mainland. It's because you're worried about him, isn't it?"

Fuyuka sighed, her gaze drifting back toward the horizon.

"Yes. I sensed a disturbance regarding him. Something is happening, and it feels like the power of our seal is involved."

Akio frowned, his grip on her shoulder tightening slightly.

"Do you think he's in danger?"

Fuyuka shook her head, though her worry was evident.

"I don't know for sure, but we can't ignore this feeling."

The two turned to check the open scroll in Fuyuka's hands. It was scribbled with mystical runes, with the Japanese kanji for 'seal' (封) written in its center in a big size. The runes glowed faintly, a testament to the powerful magic it contained.

Akio studied the scroll for a moment, then glanced back at his wife.

"The seal looks fine, Fuyuka. There's no immediate sign of damage or weakening. Try not to worry too much."

Fuyuka shook her head, her expression still troubled.

"I know, Akio. But I can't shake this feeling. While it looks fine for now, I have a terrible feeling that something very bad will happen soon and cause the seal to finally break."

Akio sighs at this.

"There's not much we can do at the moment. Unless we absolutely have to, we can't reveal things to him. Not yet. He's not ready." He says while consoling his wife.

As Akio and Fuyuka finally made their way back from the cliff, a palpable sense of uneasiness settled over them. The weight of the situation hung heavy in the air, each step they took resonating with their shared worry.

As they walked, the couple shared a brief, silent glance, each understanding the other's fears without the need for words. The bond between them, forged through years of trust and shared burdens, was their anchor in this storm of uncertainty.

Only a single thought crosses over their minds as they think about a certain someone…

'Yukio…'

The final scene of the chapter shows Kamen Rider Shinobi's Tsuchi Ride Shuriken and Asuka's Omamori lucky charm and newly obtained scroll, side by side, while the Twilight Scroll and the Shinobi Saber glow strongly behind these items.

Author Notes:

Thank you for reading!

The training is over and Asuka won the scroll.

But unlike canon, I made her shine more than her teammates in this chapter thanks to Yukio's influence.

The Earth Seirei Spirit, the Spirit Guardian of Rock Gotsumon, is based on the Digimon Gotsumon.

As for the blow Kamen Rider Shinobi inflicted upon Daidouji and how he managed to do that will be explained later. It is a small foreshadowing for something that will happen later, a hint that he will be one of the Kamen Riders that follow the 'berserk form trope'.

Ok, I will try to check the idea out later.

The other Hanzo Squad girls will find Yukio and Asuka having more intimate moments in the later chapters.

Tenzalucard123: Hope you liked this chapter.

Bia1230: Hope you liked this chapter.

ogatokusatsu: No.

I lost interest in my Ultraman story for now. Not sure when I will pick it back.

No, I'm not interested in making a crossover with those series you mentioned. Sorry.

Arc: Maybe.

DawnYugo: Thanks, glad you liked the chapter.

No, I don't plan to make Yukio take the harem route. I might make other girls interested in him later, but he will be only focused on Asuka in terms of romance.

Yukio will help the other Hanzo Squad girls train and get together, with them eventually coming to respect and get along better with him.

Right, I do plan to make the MC's parents eventually show up in a later arc of this story. I even have interesting plans in store for them when they come to visit Yukio to check how he is doing.

#2nd review: Thank you for the suggestions, I might make use of them later in my story.
