It was some time after Skylar's repairs. The five friends were now planning on what they are going to do next. "It does feel great," Skylar said. "It was nice of that Mr. Lassetire guy to fix you," Jinny said.
"True," Skylar replied, stretching his axels, "He and his buddies did a great job." Clipper agreed. "Thanks for agreeing with me, Clipper," Skylar said. "But seriously," Spiritstrike said, "Don't do that again. You nearly scared us half to death!"
"Well, that's almost true," Kaz said. "Almost?" Spiritstrike grumbled. "But please," Jinny said, "Skylar." "Don't worry," Skylar said, "I'll try to be more careful next time." "Yes," Spiritstrike said sternly, "You will!"
"Well, to tell you the truth," Skylar said. "What's that?" Jinny asked. "I hadn't had a proper check-up in over a year," Skylar explained. "Oh," Jinny said, "That explains it." "Yes," Skylar said. "Next time," Spiritstrike said severely, "You'd better do a better job. Next time, you won't be so lucky!" And she drove away.
"What's gotten into her?" Kaz asked. "I don't know," Jinny answered. Clipper just nodded. "Right," Jinny replied in agreement. "To tell you the truth," Jinny said, "I think we all needed some serious check-ups. I'm not sure they did a great job with that at the car check-ins where we got off the ship." "You are right, Skylar agreed.
"Yes!" Kaz agreed as he accidentally backed into a loose junk-pile, sending it crashing down. "Maybe we can get them to check your mentality, too," Skylar said, making a little joke. "What's that supposed to mean?" Kaz asked, "Oh, right." Clipper just reminded the irresponsible car.
The friends knew that Spiritstrike had already left to get her tune-up at a nearby auto service station. "Okay," Skylar said, "Our turn." "Right," Kaz and Jinny agreed. "Yes," Spiritstrike said after she'd gotten checked out, "They've patched up a leaky brake tube."
And Kaz and Jinny had gotten their quick check-ups as well. Even Skylar had himself double-checked, just in case. For the forklifts who did their jobs, Kaz was difficult for them, just to pint it out. Some time later, Kaz was minding his own business.
When Skylar came up to him. "Hello," Kaz said. "So, you got fired 14 times," Skylar said to Kaz. "Yes," Kaz admitted, "It sucks like that." "Tell me about it," Skylar said. "It's not going to be easy," Kaz said, "But here it goes." And he did so.
Nearby, watching the two, was Spiritstrike. "I'm not surprised," Spiritstrike said coldly. "Understood," Skylar said. Even Clipper agreed. "Thanks," Kaz said. "I'll try to help," Skylar offered to help.
"Thanks," Kaz said. And the two friends drove off. But Spiritstrike wasn't convinced. "It's time," she said to herself, "A car's got to learn how to take care of himself. Yes, I know."
It was before sunrise. Kaz was sound asleep. That was until Spiritstrike nudged him awake. "Argh!" Kaz exclaimed, "What's up?" "I'm going to help you with a job," Spiritstrike said, "And you're going to not just help me, but yourself!"
"Okay," Kaz said. "Come on!" Spiritstrike said. "Okay," Kaz said and he followed Spiritstrike. "All right," Spiritstrike said, "Kaz, I'm going to help you." "Okay," Kaz said, "I'll-" "Don't screw up," Spiritstrike said, "Just keep that in mind! Follow me."
And so, Kaz had done so. "I don't know," Kaz said. "Shut up," Spiritstrike said. They were now in a certain area. "This is where it begins," Spiritstrike said. "What does it mean?" Kaz asked, curiously. "You'll find out," Spiritstrike said seriously.
