"Attention all Units! Attention all Units!. We have an immediate emergency. Maroni Freterlizer Company has been invaded by thick multiple vines and vegetation." a police woman spoke on the police radio.
David listens while piloting the Batwing. He knows full well on who is causing this and needs to put a stop to it before it's too late. He listens more to what the woman has to say while flying around to the destination.
"We have reports that Mr. Maroni is inside and being held hostage." She goes on to say.
"Pamela." David turns off the police radio. "You need serious mental help."
Suki's face pops up on the screen and speaks. "Sir, you need to take a look at the news."
"Show me." David tells her before the screen showing Gotham News.
An anchorman with a serious look on his face started to speak. "We are receiving live footage from inside the building."
David looks and sees the inside is filled with all sorts of vegetation such as thick tree roots, flowers, grass, vines, and a whole lot of moss. He looks at the screen real good to see Maroni in a green cocoon with yellow spores sticking out. Next, the camera pans over to Pamela or she now calls herself Poison Ivy, smirked heartlessly at the lens.
"Hello, people of Gotham or should I say Nature killers. Once, I was Pamela Isley. A sad, weak, pathetic and foolish teen who did things the way that the stupid world wants to do it. Now, I am Poison Ivy. The voice and reckoning of nature." Ivy said while walking back and forth before as if she was doing a professional wrestling promo.
David noticed this from her since she did love watching WWE and just seeing her act like a wrestler that turned heel. "Pamela is really feeling herself."
"For centuries, mankind has harmed the beauty of this planet and unearthed its riches of oil and coal. Then turn around to burn it and put toxic fumes into the air and kill what keeps us living." Ivy looked at the camera in rage. "Man has ruined what God has made and refuses to take responsibility or even have the heart to care. Now, Nature has finally reached the final limits of her patience and now she smites. Through me!."
Ivy went over Maroni who was gagged by the green slimed sticky goo. She roughly pulls it off to her satisfaction of his painful scream. She smirks. "Got anything to say to the people watching at home, corporate bastard?."
Maroni, with fear in his eyes, tries to talk through the pain of his lips. "I-I can donate to the environmental fund. Name your price!."
Ivy chuckled insanely. "I'm not stupid. Paying your way out in my cause isn't going to fly with me, corporate pig."
"But...but you're going to kill me!." Maroni's voice quivered.
Ivy leaned in closer, her eyes glinting with a dark amusement. "Oh, not yet. But know this, your fate will serve as a message to all who dare to desecrate Mother Earth."
Maroni looked at the camera with a look of plea. "B...BatTeen, please save me!."
"Shut up!." Ivy slaps the slime back on his face and then looks at the camera."This is what happens to those who dare to mess with nature!. So, BatTeen, I dare you to come and stop me. You'll make a great food source for my plants." she declared with a wicked laugh.
David turns off the TV with a look of determination. "You're on, Pamela."
He flies the Batwing towards the covered building with a few police and news helicopters flying around. He ejects himself out and drops down on the rooftop. He went over to the only door on the roof that was covered in deep moss. David gathered his strength and barged the door in. He takes the stairs down to go reach where Pamela is and where Maroni is being held.
Once inside, the stench of the moisture and funk of nature hit him like a truck. It was definitely her doing. He could hear her laughter echo through the corridors filled with greenery. The floor felt wet and slimy beneath his boots as he descended into the chaos. The vines grew thicker as he went down, reaching out like snakes waiting to strangle him. He ignored the feeling of unease and pushed forward. Suddenly, the hallway started shaking before hearing the echoed voice of Ivy.
"Welcome to the jungle, BatTeen!." The walls of vines grew tighter around him, trying to squeeze him.
David manages to pull out a sharp batarang and cut himself out. He steps down to avoid a fly tree trunk being thrown at him. "Gotta do better than that, Ivy."
The corridor grew eerily silent, and the only sound was the drip of water from the leaves above. He knew she was watching, waiting for him to make a move. He scanned the area, his eyes adjusting to the dim light filtering through the dense foliage. A soft rustle echoed from the right, and he swiftly turned to face it, only to find a small lizard scurrying away. "I know you're in here, Ivy."
Suddenly, a burst of vines shot out from the left, wrapping around his legs and waist. He grunted, gritting his teeth as he felt the pressure increase. "So, you're going to play games?" He reached for his utility belt, but the vines tightened even more, cutting off his access. "Fine, have it your way."
With a powerful surge, David ripped the vines apart with his bare hands. The sound of tearing echoed through the corridor. He could feel the anger rising in her, the plants reacting to her mood. The floor beneath him started to tremble, and he knew he had to act fast.
Leaping over the next set of vines that shot out from the ground, he saw a clearing up ahead. The light grew brighter, and he heard the sound of running water. A fountain, once a symbol of wealth and power, now overrun with lush plants and vines, had become the centerpiece of Ivy's makeshift lair.
"Alright, Ivy playtime is over." David spoke before working his way to reach the security room to help find where she is.
"Oh, BatTeen, I was just getting started." Ivy's voice echoed around him, the plants shifting as she moved.
David worked his way to find the security room. He dodges and weaves through the vines that are trying to entangle him. The plants seem to be alive, moving as if they have a mind of their own. He can feel the anger and malice coming from them, a clear indication of Ivy's control. As he approaches the security room, the door is blocked by massive piles of wood. He tries to tear them down.
With a grunt of effort, David plows through the wooden barricade. He enters the room, his eyes scanning the various screens showing different angles of the building. Most are just a sea of green, but one has Ivy standing over Maroni, who is still trapped in his cocoon. He works on where the camera is filming it and learns it is in the same section where Pamela got mutated. Quickly, he exited the room and went to a shortcut which is the elevator but got stopped when seeing humanoid monster plants busted out from saggy sacks and went to attack him. David quickly dodged the attack and went on the full hand to hand combat offense.
"Destroy him!. Make him your food!." Ivy's echoed voice ordered.
The plant monsters lunged at David, their wooden limbs crackling with each movement. He sidestepped and punched one in the face, feeling the bark-like skin give way to something softer underneath. The creature stumbled back, and he took advantage, using his grappling hook to swing up to a nearby ledge. The vines followed, snaking around his legs and pulling him down. He kicks them away and fires a smoke pellet into the center of the room.
The smoke filled the space quickly, obscuring the plant monsters' vision. David dropped down and sprinted through the mist and took them all down. After finishing them off he went and took the elevator down with a ready mindset on what he needs to do. Once he gets off, he follows the path of the vines that will help in finding Ivy's location. The floor grew slicker, and the air grew colder. The plants were getting more agitated, their movements erratic and desperate. He knew he had to reach her before she did something to Maroni that couldn't be undone. Be busted to door down and walked in before seeing Ivy sitting in a makeshift throne while having a sacred Maroni.
"Oh, yay, you made it." Ivy spoke with sarcasm and an eye roll.
David's eyes narrowed, his gaze locked on her. "Let him go, Ivy. This isn't the way to change the world."
Ivy stood up, the vines that made up her throne wrapping around her body like a living dress. "You don't understand, BatTeen. This is just the beginning. The world will see the power of nature and learn to fear it."
"Or they'll see a deranged girl playing god with the lives of innocent people." David retorted, taking a cautious step closer.
Ivy's eyes flashed with anger. "Innocent?. Ha!. He's the one who's been cutting down the forests for his greedy purposes. He deserves what's coming to him. The only person who gave a damn is my David Wayne."
"You don't know what you're doing, Ivy." David's voice remained calm but firm. "This isn't going to solve anything. Stop before you hurt someone. Think about the children."
"The children?" Ivy scoffed. "The same children who will grow up in a world without trees to breathe clean air?. The same children who will watch their parents die from diseases caused by the pollution that men like Maroni have created?."
The room grew tense, the vines around them tightening as if echoing her anger. David could see the pain in her eyes, a mix of betrayal and determination. He took another step forward, his hand reaching out to her. "Pamela, I care about the same things you do. But this isn't the answer. Stand down."
Ivy shook her head. "No." She sits back on her chair with her feet on the side. "I'm not. Either you are with me or against me, BatTeen. Which is it?."
David paused for a moment, weighing his options. He knew he couldn't just take her down without listening to what she had to say. "I'm for justice, Ivy. And holding a man hostage isn't it."
"Have it your way." Ivy snapped her fingers and out came a bunch of plant creatures. "Kill him."
The creatures rush at him with vines shooting out like whips and branches swinging like clubs. David dives and rolls, narrowly avoiding the assault. He's quick on his feet, using his agility to evade the relentless barrage. Each hit he takes sends a jolt of pain through his body, but he refuses to let it slow him down. His cape gets snagged, and he uses it to swing around, knocking a few of them off balance. Ivy made herself some grapes and ate while watching the show.
"Is this what you want, Ivy?. To be feared?" David jumps over a lashing vine, landing gracefully on a desk. "To be the villain?."
Ivy smirks, tossing a grape into the air and catching it with her mouth. "I am the protector. The guardian of nature. Fear is the only thing that will make them understand."
"Understand what, exactly?." David counters, using a fire extinguisher to blast one of the plant monsters back. "That you're willing to kill?."
Ivy's smile fades, and she stands up, the vines around her forming into a whip. "They've killed so much more. It's time for a taste of their own medicine."
David works his way and takes down every last one of those plant creatures before seeing Ivy drop down with her thick vine whip. "So now you want to get your green hands dirty."
Ivy cracks her whip. "I'm going to enjoy this."
David, now in a combat stance, takes out a batarang and throws it at her. She swiftly moves aside, letting the batarang hit a vine instead. "You're not going to win, Ivy. I won't let you."
Ivy's smile turns into a snarl. "You think you can stop me, BatTeen?. You're just a boy in a costume playing hero. I am nature itself!."
David avoids the whip and activates his gloves tasers. "And you're a delusional fruitcake who plays echo friendly terrorist."
The whip comes again, and David blocks it with his forearm, sending a jolt of electricity through the vines. Ivy's eyes widened in surprise, but she recovered quickly, sending another lash at him. This time, he ducks and the whip snaps against the floor, sending up a spray of water and soil. The room was now a battleground of man versus nature, and David wasn't about to back down. David and Ivy started trading blows. David punches her in the gut before laying a few hits at her face.
Ivy got her kicked blocked and got kicked back in her stomach. Then, David tackled her to the ground and laid blows on her face. Ivy tried to fight back but she isn't an experienced fighter. So she tried to get to his head vocally.
"You're just like him. You don't care about nature. You just care about playing the hero!." Ivy put her hands on his shoulders in trying to push him off but failing.
"Not true!." David is trying so hard not to lose his best friend or his mental guilt for being the one who made her this way.
"Prove it then!." Ivy spat out. "You brought out the real me. You didn't save me!."
David's fists clenched tightly, his eyes never leaving hers. "I do care. That's why I'm here, trying to save you from yourself." He pushes himself off of her, standing up and taking a step back.
Ivy quickly jumps on him and wraps her arms around his neck in an attempt to choke him. "You failed!. You can save anyone!."
David grips her wrists, trying to pry them away from his neck, but her strength was surprisingly increased by her newfound powers. "Let go, Ivy! This isn't you!" He struggles, his voice strained, his eyes watering.
The room seems to come alive with the sound of plants growing and shifting. The floor beneath them starts to crack as tree roots push through the concrete, wrapping around their legs. "You can't save me, BatTeen," she hisses, her eyes wild with a mix of anger and desperation. "You can only watch as I save the world from itself."
David yelled and flipped her off of him. He quickly started putting his hands around her neck and started putting pressure. "Fuck you!."
Ivy's eyes grew wide with shock, her grip loosening as she coughed and gasped for air. "You...you're...hurting me," she whispered.
"I don't want to," David said through gritted teeth, "but if that's what it takes to snap you out of this, then so be it." His eyes searched hers, looking for a spark of recognition, a flicker of the girl he once knew.
Ivy's eyes grew wet with unshed tears as she fought against his grip. "You don't get it," she rasped, "it's already too late. Nature will heal herself, with or without me."
His fear attempt didn't affect Palma like he wanted and just lifted her up and then used his hand to push her head forward, and let the back of her head make contact with the concrete. Pamela was knocked out cold. David got up off her and went to free Maroni from his prison. The man slowly got his strength in his legs while looking at his building.
"Look at it. That tree hugging bitch turns it into a damn safari!." Maroni looked at BatTeen. "Do you have any idea how much I have to pay for lawn service for this!?."
"You're welcome, asshole." David went down to go pick up his unconscious girlfriend.
"You should have killed her. You were choking her oxygen away." Maroni protested.
"I don't kill." David said before walking.
Maroni looked at him with a puzzled look. "But she's a monster now!."
"And the evidence will show that your fertilizer isn't safe for people or plants. I already sent evidence to the proper authorities. You're finished, Maroni. Finish." David said exiting out where every cop and medic is waiting.
He went over to the Arkham Asylum employees after Suki had called them by his request and saw Ivy on the stretch bed. Ivy lay unconscious with a bruised eye and bottom lip.
"Take care of her. And make sure she gets the help she needs." David says to the doctor.
The doctor nods solemnly. "We will do everything in our power to assist Miss Isley back to her former state."
David nodded. "Good." He went over to Gordon. "Jim?."
Gordon nodded gravely. "Take her in, but be gentle. She's still a person under there."
The medics carefully lifted the unconscious Ivy onto the stretcher, strapping her down as the plants around her began to wither at their touch. David watched them go, feeling a mix of relief and sadness. He turned to Gordon, his cape fluttering in the breeze from the open door. "This isn't the end, is it?."
Gordon shook his head. "First, Joker, then Penguin, Riddler, Two-Face, Scarecrow...the list keeps going. Now, Isley is the new edition to the nut house."
David looked his best friend in the eyes. "I'll visit her."
"I don't think she is a fan of yours, Kid." Gordon watches as the Arkham Asylum's van leaves. "She would rather see her only friend. David Wayne."
David nodded with a sigh. "Yeah, he is the only one that can get through to her. Have a safe night, Jim."
Gordon patted him on the shoulder. "You too, son. Remember, you're doing what's best for her and the city."
"Can't forget." David calls the Batwing and leaves.
Next week, David is wearing his NFL jersey and matching pants and getting ready to go visit Pamela in the asylum. Suki, who is packing a small meal for Pamela to eat, hands David the picnic basket.
"David, can we cure her?. Personally?." Suki asked her young boss.
David grabs his keys. "That is going to take some time. A long time. Her new cells are aggressive and not willing to die."
Suki nods, her face filled with concern. "I know it's tough, but you can't give up on her."
David nodded before leaving to get in his Tesla. He drives off to Arkham Asylum and checks in. "David Wayne. I have visiting time for Pamela Isley, ma'am."
The security guard nods and checks his ID. "You're clear."
David walks through the cold, sterile halls of Arkham Asylum, the echoes of madness reaching him through the thick walls. He knows he has to save Ivy, but how? The thought weighs heavily on his mind as he reaches her cell. She lays on her regular prison bed in her Arkham Asylum orange uniform with a pair of sandals. She looked up at the ceiling with a serious look on her face. David knocks on her thick plastic cell wall.
"Pam?. It's me, David." He gets her attention.
Ivy's eyes slowly shifted to look at him, she gave a warm smile at her boyfriend. "Hi, David."
David could see the sadness in her eyes, even through the thick glass that separated them. "Hey, Ivy. How are you doing?" He held up the picnic basket. "I brought you something. Your favorite. Tuna salad sub sandwiches with extra mayo, potato chips, Dr. Pepper, and sugar cookies."
Ivy's gaze fell to the basket, and for a moment, a spark of her old self shone through. "Thanks, David."
David opens the flap and sets the food there for her to get. He grabbed a seat and watched her eat in happiness. "I'm sorry for not seeing you as soon as they brought you here. Work has been a hassle and trying to clear your name from the press."
Ivy took a bite of the sandwich, chewing slowly before speaking. "It's okay, David. I know you're busy."
"Do you remember anything about what you did?." David asked.
Ivy swallowed hard, her gaze drifting to the side. "It's all a blur. I just remember the plants...talking to me. They were in pain." She took a deep breath, her eyes watering. "And then I was here. David, I didn't mean to hurt anyone. My alter ego is free and I'm just going along with it."
"It's not your fault, Pamela." David leaned closer to the glass, trying to offer comfort. "But we need to figure out how to get you back to normal."
"Maybe I don't want to get normal?. What if I'm already normal?." Pamela looked at him with her ego talking.
David looks at her for a brief moment. "Am I talking to Pamela or Ivy right now?."
Pamela looks down at her food before speaking again. "Pamela, I guess. But it's complicated. Ivy. She is like a twin sister to me now."
David nods, understanding her confusion. "We'll work on it. Together. I won't leave you here like this. You're still my girlfriend."
Pamela's eyes light up with hope, a hint of a smile playing on her lips. "Thank you, David. I've missed you so much."
They talked for hours, about their shared past, their hopes for the future, and the strange turn their lives had taken. David listened intently, trying to understand the turmoil she was facing. He knew that deep down, she was still the same girl he had fallen in love with, the one who cared about the environment and all living things. But the influence of the unsafe manmade fertilizer had twisted that care into something darker, something dangerous.
"My parents cut ties with me." Pamela finishes her food with a sad sigh. "They haven't visited or called me since I got her. They don't want anything to do with me. They disowned me."
David felt a pang of anger at the thought of anyone abandoning her in her time of need. "They don't get to define who you are, Pamela. You are so much more than what happened here. You're strong, smart, and compassionate. I never imagined your parents disowning you like that."
Pamela shrugged, trying to hide her pain. "They're scared, I guess. Or maybe they're just assholes. I don't know."
"Well, I'm not," David said firmly. "And neither is Suki. We're going to figure this out. We're going to get you out of here and back to normal. You just have to stay strong for me. Be willing to go to your therapy. Zula has already assigned herself to you. You'll pull through."
Pamela nodded, taking another bite of her cookie. "I'll try, David."
"Alright, times up, Mr. Wayne." The guard tells him.
David nodded and stood up, placing his hand on the glass. "I'll be back, Pamela. I promise."
"I'll be waiting." Her voice was faint, but the determination was unmistakable.
David left the Asylum while Pamela went back to looking up at the ceiling before trying to go to sleep. Somewhere at a diner, eating something before messing with the unfinished magical metal box that will send him back to his universe, CJ aka ISO was wondering if he should kill this universe's Joker. It wouldn't be the same but a lunatic is a lunatic.
"I must get back to our Gotham, Lola." CJ was in rage when thinking about what his Joker did to his Barbara. "He shot and paralyzed my girlfriend. If it wasn't for giving another part of my healing factor, she would be confined to being in a wheelchair."
Lola spoke in his head. "Yes, and she most definitely won't be feeling any more sexual sensation from either her vagina or ass. She owes me for saving her."
CJnodded to his symbiote while drinking his coffee. "You're a part of me and you're a part of Barbara."
"Don't forget, she only has the healing factor and nothing else." Lola informs him.
"But you do have the ability to control her body and still be able to mentally talk to Barbara?. Regardless of what Universe we're in?."
Lola hums a tune and answers. "Correct, she's the host but I'm the one who decides everything. I still don't like her ass."
"All because she is against us killing as our way of serving justice." said CJ, before taking a bite of his thick apple pie.
"Her way is too soft, and it won't change the world like we want it to." Lola disagreed.
CJ nodded. "True. Can you move her limbs right now?."
"I can." Lola said, "She will ask about where we are."
"Then tell her and make that cube. If we press the button at the same time we can get back to our own home in guarantee." said CJ, before adding a part to his cube.
"Alright, I will." Lola said, controlling Barbara's hand to reach for a screwdriver. "But what about BatTeen?. He's going to need us."
CJ pondered about that teen. "I'm debating whether or not to help him. I'm still not helping out Batman in our world. Dumbass Bruce."
