A/N Very little is known about Sam Zabuto, Kendra's Watcher, but as I noted before, something's can be inferred based on Kendra, herself and how she behaved. I don't see her Watcher as a bad person, Kendra doesn't seem to have been abused, physically. But she was stunted socially and emotionally.

Something else that can be inferred comes from a statement Faith made to Buffy when they first met. Faith comments on Buffy using a rocket launcher to take out the Judge and asks her what made her think of that? Faith thinks it was Buffy's idea, likely because her Watcher told her it was. But who told her Watcher it was Buffy's idea? The Council? Or did Giles gloss over the other's involvement, maybe to make Buffy or himself look better? Regardless of why, the Council seems to have had incomplete information. Of course, they also didn't know the extent of Buffy's involvement with Angel, they couldn't have, especially in light of Wesley's statement that it's Council policy that they don't work with or help vampires, not under any circumstances. Wesley was quite clear on that. I've said it before, blanket statements like that without addressing prior canon are a problem.

Giles called them to the Library after classes for a meeting and they had a pretty good idea that it was to officially meet Kendra and her Watcher. Xander didn't have a great impression of Kendra's Watcher even before meeting the man, would that change with this meeting?

"Who are all these people, Mr. Giles?" The dark skinned man with an accent as heavy as Kendra's asked, looking around the Library at the teenagers assembled, and Fred sitting at the table next to a silent Buffy.

"We're some of the people who know Buffy's secret identity." Xander answered for him. "Not everyone, Amy knows, maybe a few others. When you go to school with someone and you see that someone take down a monster that's trying to kill you, it doesn't take much to figure out there's more to them then just being a tiny blond ex cheerleader. No one talks about it, even as gossip, but they know."

"And you haven't bothered to tell the Council this?" Mr. Zabuto questioned. "That people are aware that Miss Summers is a Slayer?"

"It has been made clear to me that I made some errors in judgment, not informing the Council of certain things may be one of them." Giles admitted uncomfortably.

"What do you usually do when people know about the Slayer?" Tor asked.

Mr. Zabuto eyed the blond teenager for a moment. "Investigate them to ensure they are not a threat, sometimes hire them, most of our hunters are humans that discovered the supernatural and decided to do something about it. What all are you familiar with?"

"Vampires, demons, Magic." Xander listed them. "We've all dealt with vampires and I've helped Buffy fight demons. My girlfriend and I destroyed one of the assassins sent after Buffy the last time Kendra was in town."

"Yes, I'm aware Kendra neglected to tell me everything about that visit." Mr. Zabuto frowned at the squirming teenager. "And you and your girlfriend did this with no help from the Slayer?"

"I lured him into a trap and Cordy and I killed him together." Xander indicated the tall brunet girl standing beside him. He began introducing everyone and Mr. Zabuto nodded at each of them.

"You must be an able fighter to take on a demon." Mr. Zabuto commented. "How much instructions has Mr. Giles given you?"

"None." Xander shrugged. "I've taught myself to use a crossbow and an ax, I've got the left over Halloween stuff -."

"Excuse me, left over Halloween stuff?" Mr. Zabuto looked confused.

"Last Halloween a Chaos Mage turned everyone into their costumes, I was a soldier for a couple of hours. I've recently realized I have more knowledge than the rank my costume was should have. But the knowledge has come in useful, like against the Judge and a few things Giles and I were discussing yesterday -."

"How exactly did you help against the Judge? As I understand it, Miss Summers came up with a plan and acquired a rocket launcher somehow, Mr. Giles wasn't clear on that in his report."

Silence from the assembled teenagers and then an outraged Cordelia swung around and glared at Giles. "Buffy came up with a plan?! What the Hell, Giles?! Buffy's never come up with a plan in her life! Xander came up with that plan! He and I stole the rocker launcher while Oz and Willow covered for us. Xander let Buffy press the button because it was her birthday! Where did they get the idea that Buffy came up with that plan?!"

"The Slayer works alone." Giles protested. "If they knew just how much help you've given Buffy - they may feel her training is incomplete or -."

"It seems you haven't bothered with training any of them." Mr. Zabuto observed. "If you were going to allow them to help, why not train them?"

Giles looked confused, that being something that had never occured to him. "My job is to train the Slayer, not her friends."

"But if they're actively helping than not training them endangers their lives. Why do you continue to help even given the risk?" Mr. Zabuto looked at Xander.

"Vampires killed and turned someone who might as well have been my brother. I hate them." Xander answered evenly and took a chance, he was pretty sure Kendra would tell Mr. Zabuto anyway. "And I've recently discovered I fit into the supernatural category myself as I've learned I have a seed of Magic."

"Hmm, interesting. And rare. And the rest of you?"

"You could say he's infected us." Kyle grinned. "With everything from a hatred of vampire to our own seeds of Magic."

"I see. I think this assignment is going to be very interesting indeed." The wide eyed Mr. Zabuto commented.
