Chapter 5: Joining the flock

Green sand farm

It has been two weeks since Izaya's life went downhill, and a lot has happened in that time. First of the third shinobi war had started which had caused a lot of tension in the area.

From what he had managed to find out is that the previous patrol schedule of six hours has been changed to three. He had stopped pranking them (he doesn't need to cause an incident that could cost people's lives after all) but he still spies on them as stealth practice. From that he had learned that the kazekage has disappeared and Iwa has been blamed due to the attack on his home on the same day causing them to ask Konoha for aid to which they complied, meaning Danzo unfortunately got what he wanted.

Secondly was the farm which was fortunately spared from having been seriously damaged. Most of the damage was minor in nature even with the short-lived thunderstorm that ended when he lost consciousness. The only part that could be considered serious was the hole in the wall courtesy of Tsunade.

After some shinobi came and help fix some of the damage he went ahead and gotten himself a small peach tree and planted it at the front of his house like the one he saw in his dream.

And finally, is his appearance. he decided to play trauma victim by kicking a medic nin in the face, they wanted to try and help but they had learned that the kazekage went missing, he decided to act like he had lost half his face and made himself a crude eyepatch covering the left side of his face all the way to his ear.

He also started wearing his mother's bandages after cleaning them up and is planning to learn how to make use of them although he didn't have time yet. He knows he could use shadow clones for it, but his mind is still a mess after what happened along with the increased patrol he doesn't wanna risk them finding out, he should probably make some kind of training ground, perhaps even underground.

He was cut from his musings when he spotted a red swallow circling him overhead feeling something was strange with that having never seen one like it before. As he was thinking about it the bird suddenly took a nosedive and landed on a fence in front of him.

''Hey hey hey, over here, can I ask you something? Pretty please.'' Izaya just looked at the feminine sounding hyperactive bored with surprise when he remembered the contract Jiraiya gave him meaning this likely isn't a coincidence. Still although he knows the next patrol likely won't be here for another hour and he's fairly curtain that there isn't anyone else out there he still decided to play it dumb for now.

''Oh sorry, I ques I should give you my name first Hehe.'' she proceeded to fly in a circle around him and land with her wings raised in some kind of pose. ''I'm the most badass flyer of the swallow clan and the daughter of the boss, the name is Tsubasa, it's nice to meet ya.'' she ended her introduction by moving her right wing in front of her to shake his hand.

Izaya was surprised by the swallow's introduction but decided to shake her wing regardless. ''Umm hi, I'm Izaya Kanbatsu and-'' his words died in his throat when the bird jumped on his head. ''Kanbatsu, that means you're tatë's kid right? Daddy asked me to look for him. Can I see him? Can I see him?'' Izaya adopted a sad look on his face that Tsubasa didn't seem to catch up on.

''He's at the front of the house by the peach tree.'' He didn't need to say more as the swallow took off at high speed. He's not looking forward at what's going to happen next.

When he got there, he saw the hyperactive bird flying circles around the tree before landing on a stone tablet in front of it. ''Hey, you lied I don't see him anywhere.'' His only response was to put his index finger in front of the bird motioning her to hop on. After she did, he move his finger around so she could read the engravings on the stone.

He saw the swallow's mood change the longer she looked at the tombstone. ''So, they are all gone? Unfortunately, yes. And the two blank spaces? Those would have been my siblings.'' upon hearing that the young swallow seems to have lost all her energy which hurt Izaya to see happen to the hyperactive bird.

''I'm guessing your here because of the summoning contract? Huh, oh yea right. Daddy sent me here because Tatë's name became black on the contract. I see, I suppose it's about time I visited your clan.'' Tsubasa seemed to brighten up slightly upon hearing that.

Izaya went inside his house with Tsubasa on his head. He put her down on the dinner table and made a shadow clone. ''Go finish up my chores and then go read up on mom's scrolls on growing chakra cotton, I'm going to visit the swallow clan. You got it boss.'' As the clone went back outside, he went to his room and unfurled the summoning contract.

From his shoulder the clan boss's daughter told him what to do. ''Write your name in blood at the empty space beside your dad's along with your fingerprints of your hand you'll use to summon us. Then with a bit of blood make the handseals for boar-dog-bird-monkey-ram. And finally, you channel the chakra you wanna use while slamming the palm of your hand to the ground screaming summoning jutsu with gusto. After that we can reverse summon you to our home so you can meet daddy.''

Izaya nodded in confirmation and followed the instructions. Performing the handseals with some remaining blood, he focuses a decent amount of chakra and performed the technique.

He slammed his hand to the ground and saw the seals growing on the ground till a puff of smoke came from it. He didn't have the time to react when a green blur crashed against his head.

''Oeps, sorry, I probably should have told you that you would likely summon us mid-flight.'' Tsubasa said with her tongue sticking out in amusement away from the smoke.

''Damm it Tsubasa you and your pranks. When I get my talons on you, I swear. Relax Sora, I got Tatë's kid here and after he meets with daddy, he might be our new summoner. Tsk fine, let me guess you want me to get your dad to reverse summon you? Yup. Alright fine but I'll get you back for this later.'' before Izaya could get a word in the pissed off green swallow disappeared in a puff of smoke and Tsubasa perched herself back on his head. What did he just sign up for. A moment later he felt himself get pulled away his vision surrounded in smoke again.

Gale canyon

When the smoke cleared, he looked around to find out where he was, he saw that he was inside a large, hollowed cave with soft blue light coming from the ceiling. Behind him was a large wide opening giving him a clear view of the clear blue sky.

He then turned around to get wide eyed at what he saw. In the middle of the cave was a large nest mode with sticks, clay and pieces of metal. On top of it was a large red swallow the size of a small house with feathers glistening like it was clad in fire.

'' So, your finally home. Took you a while. Mind telling me what happened?'' a soft yet powerful voice came from the swallow boss

'' Hehe sorry daddy you see, I was on my way when I came across a nice air current that I followed around for a bit, then there was this pretty lake, and I couldn't help myself but glide over it for a while and then I got hungry and found some tasty berry's but I had gotten a tummy ache from it and then-'' Tsubasa trailed of in her explanation how she had gotten more and more lost till she finally gotten to the farm and explained how she met Izaya causing her both her dad and new summoner to laugh at what happened.

''Hahahaha of course, I should have guessed that this would happen.'' He said in amusement at his daughter's expense. ''Ah right, we should probably give our names. The name's Suisei. Swallow boss of Gale canyon and you are? Right, sorry, where are my manners my name is Izaya Kanbatsu but-'' since he is in the summon realm with his father's friend's he decided to properly introduce himself by removing his eyepatch and disabling the seal making his natural blue hair appear. ''You can also call me Tsurugi Tatsumaki.''

Tsubasa was surprised since she didn't know Izaya was also call Tsurugi while Suisei had a melancholic look in his eyes. ''My boy, it's been so long since I last saw you in your mother's arms when your dad brought you here. Wait, I've been here before? Yes you have, about a month after you were born. I've never seen a human baby before that, and you were such an adorable bundle of energy. The cute little troublemaker on your shoulder was born not long after that and both me and your father were hoping that she would become your personal summon.''

Both children were surprised at that when they stared into each other's eyes.

''I would love to continue on with talking about the past but young Tsurugi please, I need to know what happened to Tatë.'' And so he told them everything that happened that day. That he went shopping for a gift for his siblings, finding out what happened to his home and family, killing the Iwa and ROOT shinobi, the awakening of his bloodline and falling unconscious, and finally waking up with Jiraiya Tsunade and Shizune.

When he was done a tense silence was all there was left until the temperature started going up along with the rising killing intend from the swallow boss. He started to thrash around in place and started making loud chirping noises that made Tsubasa cover her head with her wings. Izaya catching on to what's happening put his thumb and index finger over her head getting a grateful nod in return.

This continued on for ten minutes while more and more swallows came inside and immediately went wide eyed at what they were seeing. When Suisei finally calmed down and started breathing heavily from his tantrum Tsurugi couldn't help but ask Tsubasa after removing his hand from her head. ''Never seen him this angry before? I've never seen daddy angry before, even that time when I put laxatives in his drinks during the Suzaku festival when I didn't know that there were gonna be other boss summons during the celebrations. Although he didn't need to when Phantom found me.'' A shiver went through the red swallow's body from remembering what happened.

''Huf, huf, huf, Im sorry about that, it's just urg, I can't believe that happened. If only Tatë-kun just summoned us we could have-. Caught up in it leaving more casualties and trouble later down the line. There is no point in going over the what ifs. They were ambushed and they had superior numbers. he probably didn't have the time to use the summoning jutsu to call for help.''

Suisei could only sigh at that knowing he was probably right ''I know that, but it doesn't mean I like it. We may not have had to train Tatë-kun but we still respected and cared for him. Learning that he was murdered like that is just a hard pill to swallow.'' (Pun not intended but I still like it XD)

Trying to get the depressing thoughts out of his head the swallow boss decided to change the topic with an unnoticeable glint in his eyes. ''Despite all that I'm glad we have a new summoner to actually train. Don't get me we cared about Tatë al lot and were not just replacing him with you, it's just that due to his build and nature we didn't get to train him in our ways unfortunately. And aside from that we also have something that belongs to you.'' The boss took a moment to look at all the swallows in the cave that came in during his tantrum. Most of them still stunned to have seen their boss so furious.

''Ahh Arashi your here, that's good get over here.'' At that a black swallow the size of a large dog came walking forward. ''Tsurugi meet Arashi. He used to be your dads personal summon. Yo, nice to meet you.'' Arashi said in a lazy wave. ''Uhm hello there'' Tsurugi couldn't help but feel a bit off due to the lack of energy Arashi seems to have compared to the other swallows around him.

''Don't worry about him too much, he might not be the most motivated of us but he's very capable and he's also the one in charge of your inheritance.'' Said the boss against his new summoner.

''I don't doubt that Suisei-sama. Please not the sama crap, I really don't care about formalities. Even if everyone keeps teasing me with that.'' the boss muttered the last bit to himself.

''Okay, but am I not supposed to take on some kind of trail to become a summoner or something? Oh that, nah kid I wouldn't dare do that to you. I can see that you're a good kid and I wouldn't leave you hanging after what you've been trough. Really? Thank you, I'll do my best not to disappoint you. I know you won't, anyway it's time for you to get your stuff so hop on. Arashi lead the way if you'd like. Sure, no problem. Hope you like what I've done with the place.''

Accepting what's going on he jumped onto Suisei's back with Tsubasa still on his shoulder as Arashi took off leading the way. ''Hold on tight, first time could get bumpy.'' that's all the warning he got as they flew out of the cave with the rest of the swallows following them out to do their own thing again.

He had to take a moment to get his eyes adjusted to the winds blowing in his face but when he managed to open them, he was left breathless at the sights before him. All around him were swallows flying around without a care in the world, some of them were even flying in formation leaving him at awe at the display.

He then looked at the ground and the only word that came to mind was beautiful. Large canyon walls filled with ether caves or swallow nests of various sizes were surrounding a crystal-clear lake with small islands that houses large berry bushes and fruit trees with all kinds of colors with a few rock pillars that houses a few small nests for what he's guessing is for the younger swallows. Around the lake were fields of emerald-green grass that reflected the light of the sun painting a scenery that even the best artists can't replicate (although people can try if they like *wink* *wink*).

After a while they landed on the ground in front of a cave with a symbol looming over the top. The symbol consisted of blue swirling lines that widened as it went up looking like a tornado with two lightning bolts going through the center in an X formation all in front of a white background. He knew that it was the representation of the Tatsumaki clan.

''welp we're here. This is where your father and I stored the stuff he brought from Uzusiogakure. Hope you find what you're looking for in there kid. I tried to keep it clean for when you finally decided to come here.'' Said Arashi in a lazy tone.

Tsurugi just nodded in confirmation at the swallow while slowly getting closer to what lies in wait for him inside.

Bonus scene

Infinite library

Within a large study room filled to the brim with books scrolls and notes a large figure was in deep contemplation when the door suddenly flew open.

''lord Phantom, a messenger from the swallow clan has just arrived and is waiting for you in the quest room.'' upon hearing that the now named lord Phantom stood up and calmly approached is underling.

''The swallow clan you say. How intriguing for Suisei to suddenly have a messenger come by unannounced. Very well, it would be rude to leave a guest waiting so please prepare some refreshments. Yes my lord it will be done.''

Lord Phantom stood up and walked towards the guest room leaving loud metallic footsteps in his wake to let his quest know of his arrival. When he walked in, he saw the messenger and took place across from him.

''Ah if it isn't young Sora. What a Pleasent yet unexpected surprise. Please help yourself so that you can explain why your here.'' the green swallow was feeling a bit uncomfortable by the boss summon in front of him. The way he talks and acts unnerved him even if he knows he means no harm. Today just wasn't his day after crashing into the clan's new summoner.

''Yes Phantom-sama. Thank you for that.'' he nervously drank some tea and ate one of the pastries. Phantom's clan might be weird, but the food is good, and it helps calm him down.

'' Suisei-sama sent me here with a massage and a question for you that might be of interest. Truely? Fascinating, please go on. Right, first of Tatë has been killed and his son became our new summoner.'' this had caught Phantom by Suprise.

''Oh dear goodness gracious. You have my sincere condolence at the tragic news. Thank you, I'll tell Suisei-sama you said that.'' A moment of silence occurred between the two before Phantom spoke again.

''And his son, I do recall the fact that he was a Tatsumaki with the coveted tempest release if I'm not mistaken? Yes, your right. Seems like a good kid.'' Sora said while nursing the bump on the head he had gotten earlier the day.

''The fate of Tatë is truly a tragedy but it would seem to have been followed up by opportunity. Perhaps I'll have pleasure of meeting the boy myself one day. But let's not keep you for too long since I can tell your nervous. So, what is your question.

So, so, so, what about the next chapter beïng a time skip? Yea I know. You don't need to rub it in. I'm still new at all this and I didn't expect this chapter to be this long ok. Alright, alright, relax I'm not holding it against you I'm just saying.

I was planning to have you go over your inheritance this chapter as well, but it ended up dragging out longer than I thought it would. But don't worry next chapter is called: Legacy and training: and if things go to plan than after that comes the time skip, I promise. Sheesh relax already. It's fine just keep it in mind for next time. Roger that.

Anything else going on that I need to know? Oh right. We had gotten another artist request the other day. Isn't that the third one in like two weeks' time. What do you plan to do with that.

First off, yes that's correct. One is to make a comic and the other two are for drawings. Oe nice one. second off. For comics and such I think it's better for me to be further along in the series since I still got a lot planned for it. Probably best wait till the formation of team seven. Seems reasonable enough.

As for making drawings about OC's and other things like for instance Gale canyon i don't have a problem with that as long as I get a callout and a copy of it for my personal use. I hope they can draw my good side.
