Chapter 2: that's my lullaby.
It is dead quiet in the canyon. Kion and Jasiri walk through it, no sound of any animal around.
'Wow, it's so quiet here.' Kion said.
'Sometimes, that's a blessing.' Jasiri joked. Kion laughed in response. 'Are we almost there?'
'Yeah, just up ahead.' Jasiri answered.
'Good, I'm sure we can work things out quickly.' Kion said. 'Lion are reasonable.'
'Says the lion.' Jasiri joked. 'Really, you should look in the mirror sometime.' Jasiri said.
'What's a mirror?' kion asked.
'No idea.' Jasiri responded.
Suddenly Jasiri was pinned to the ground by a young lion. It wasn't a cub, but it surely wasn't an adult either. 'I told you to stay out of here, hyena.' The lion said. Kion responded, pinning down the older lion himself. 'Hey, back off!' He shouted.
'Who, who are you?' The lion asked.
'Name's Kion, who are you?' Kion said in a very angry tone.
'Nuka!' Could suddenly be heard from the distance. 'Hey Nuka!' Suddenly a lion more Kion's age stood beside them.
'Kovu, tell him to let me up!' Nuka said, clearly scared by the way younger lion.
'A friend of yours?' Kion asked Kovu, still angry.
Kovu sighed in embarrassment. 'Looks like you've met my brother.' He said.
'That's right, so let me up!' Nuka said, trying to seem like a strong lion. 'It's two against one!'
'Two against two.' Jasiri said, joining the party.
'What kind of lion are you, siding with a hyena.' Nuka told Kion.
'What are you doing in the out lands?' Kion asked, ignoring Nuka's question. 'Why aren't you in the pride lands?'
'Like we are welcome there.' Nuke joked.
'Why wouldn't you be?' Kion asked. 'I'm sure you'd be welcome there.'
'And whoooo's your dad.' Nuka asked with a stupid high voice.
Jasiri laughed out loud. 'You know, the king of the pride lands. Simba.'
Both Nuka and Kovu were clearly surprised by that answer as they both exclaimed Simba's name in shock.
'You really think he'd allow us into the pride lands.' Kovu said, only now becoming interested in the conversation.
'Why not?' Kion said. 'If you give Jasiri her watering hole back.' Kion added.
'Then I can see Kiara again!' Kovu thought out loud.
'You know Kiara?' Kion asked.
'Yeah, it was a while ago.' Kovu said. 'We have to take him to mom.' Kovu then said to Nuka.
'Oh yeah.' Nuka realized. 'She's gonna want to meet the son of Simba.' Nuka got right into Kion's face who stood his ground. 'The name's Kion.' Kion said as he forced Nuka to walk backwards, showing his inner strength.
'Okay, Kion, hyena. Lets go.' Nuka said.
'Come Jasiri, you'll see, it's just a misunderstanding.' Kion told Jasiri before they both followed the two young lions.
'Mother, we have a visitor.' Nuka said with an annoying high voice again.
'It's Simba's son, Kion.' Kovu added.
'Simba's son? Well, what an honor.' The adult female lion said with a smile on her face.
'He pounced on me!' Nuka said, a tad annoyed.
Zira, like Kovu, sighed in disappointment. 'I'm sure you pounced first.'
'Well, yes.' Nuka realized.
Welcome Kion, I'm Zira, this is my daughter Vitani.'
'A lion and a hyena? Hmm, funny.' Vitani commented.
'Not just any lion, Simba's son.' Zira told Vitani.
'So tell me Kion, what brings you all the way here in the out lands?' Zira asked.
'I did, we are friends.' Jasiri said confidently.
'Friends, with royalty? Gracious, I underestimated you, my dear.' Zira said, not being very respectful towards the hyena.
'Kion's not just royalty. He's leader of the lion guard.' Jasiri said, only filling herself with more confidence.
Zira repeated the hyena's words, clearly shocked to hear those words. 'But, the guard isn't here?' Zira noticed.
'No, but I am. Now, what are you doing in the out lands? And why have you taken over the watering hole.' Kion said, wanting answers.
'So many questions, Kion. What I don't understand is, why don't you just use your roar to give your friend what she needs.' Zira said.
'What?' Kion asked, confused about the situation.
'You can do that?' Jasiri asked Kion.
'As leader of the Lion Guard, Kion possesses a special power. The roar of the elders, isn't that right?' Zira asked, clearly already knowing the answer.
'How do you know.' Kion asked, he found this whole situation kinda, weird.
'I know all about the roar.' Zira responded. 'See that little cloud.' Zira pointed at the sky, one single little cloud right there enjoying the nonexistent breeze. 'Try roaring at it.' Zira told Kion.
'Roar at a cloud?' Kion said, not really doing anything.
'What's wrong Kion? I thought you wanted to help your hyena friend?' Zira told him.
'I don't see how roaring at a cloud would do that.' Kion responded.
'Kion.' Jasiri said, looking at Kion desperately. She didn't need to say what she wanted for Kion to understand what she oh so desperately needed.
'Well, I guess it won't hurt to try.' Kion told Zira.
Zira stepped back, a cheeky smile making its way onto her face for a moment.
Kion stood strong and roared at the cloud ahead, the wind was send directly into the cloud. It made the clown grow. And I'm so sorry physics and geography nerds, but it made the cloud pour rain down, even shooting lightning down to the ground.
'Kion, did you know you could do that?' Jasiri asked. Wondering if Kion kept this from her.
'No, I didn't.' Kion responded. 'Zira, how did you know the roar could do that?' He asked Zira.
'Oh, I'd love to tell you. But, I feel a little uncomfortable discussing the roar, in front of a hyena.' Zira said, continuing to disrespect the kind.
'Oh don't mind me, I just want my water back!' Jasiri told Zira annoyedly.
'Perhaps we could go somewhere more private and talk.' Zira suggested to Kion. 'Lion, to lion.'
'I don't trust her Kion, like, not even a drop.' Jasiri told Kion.
'I know, but she knows more about the roar than I do. Besides, maybe I can get her to agree to share the watering hole.' Kion responded.
'I hope you're right.' Jasiri told Kion.
'Wonderful, children, I'll be back soon.' Zira told her cubs.
Zira and Kion disappeared into the rocks, Jasiri left alone with the cubs. Nuka immediately taking his chance to growl at Jasiri. Zira just about hearing him and telling him to "play nice."
Jasiri stands still for a moments, then suddenly growls at Nuka, scaring the lion out of the young lion. 'That's right Nuka, let's play nice.'
