New Friends
June 22nd, 1836
Elsa laid across on her bed with a book in her hands, wearing the blue dress that she had gotten yesterday. Olaf is also relaxing at the edge of the bed humming to himself until he bolted up.
"Anna's here!"
He jumped off the bed and bolted out before Elsa had the chance to react. She set her book down as she exited her room. When she reached the bottom of the stairs she saw Anna & Kristoff greeting Olaf.
"Elsa, hey!" Anna greeted.
"I thought you both weren't coming over today?"
"My father has been busy lately and is getting some much-needed rest so I'm free today."
"Oh, what do you have planned to do today?"
"More like what I have in mind," Kristoff spoke. "I have some friends that would love to meet you."
"Friends?" Olaf piped up. "I love meeting new friends! Can I come too?"
"Olaf I don't think that's a good-"
"He can," Anna cut off Elsa's sentence.
"He can? Wouldn't they be...bothered by him?"
"No worries. They're big magic experts," Kristoff assured her.
"See? Not a problem!" Anna exclaimed. "So what do ya say?"
"Well...if they're okay with magic I guess we'll go. Where do your friends live?"
"A place called The Valley of the Living Rock."
About an hour past when the group had arrived at the valley. The three humans walked ahead whilst Sven and Kjekk trailed behind, Olaf lying on the former's back, gazing upon the sky.
"How have you missed this place?" Anna asked the ice wielder.
"I...have no idea. There's so much moss around here, and is that steam coming from the ground?" Elsa reached her hands near the pit, feeling its warmth on her skin. "It's warm."
"The heat coming from the vents helps keep the place warm year-round. It's warm enough to keep the snow off during the winter," Kristoff explained.
"That's...cool." She went over to another steam vent. "So, Kristoff, what are your friends like?"
"Right, about my friends-Well I say, friends, they're more like family- Anyway when I was a kid it was just me and Sven until they, y' know, kinda took us in."
"They did?"
He nodded his head. "I'm gonna warn you, they can be a little inappropriate. And loud."
"Very loud!" Anna added with a chuckle.
"They're also stubborn at times, and a little overbearing, and heavy, really heavy, which you'll-but you know-you'll get it they're-"
"Kristoff! They sound wonderful," Elsa assured him. "I mean they did raise you."
"See? She'll defiantly like them," Anna told him.
"And we're here!" The group stopped to see many rocks covered with moss scattered around on a flat rock surface.
"Elsa! Meet my family!" Kristoff gestured to the rocks.
"Wait, what?"
"Hey, guys!" Kristoff greeted. "You are a sight for sore eyes. You remember Anna, don't you?"
"Hi everyone. Long-time no see."
All Elsa could do was stand in place as she watches Kristoff and Anna talkings the rocks so casually. Olaf stood by her side, just as baffled as she is.
"They're talking to rocks…" She muttered.
"They're crazy…" Olaf whispered loudly. "I'll distract them while you run." The snowman went over to a nearby rock, talking to it and Elsa. "HI KRISTOFF'S FAMILY. IT'S NICE TO MEET YOU! -...Because I love you, Elsa, I insist you run- I UNDERSTAND THAT YOU'RE MAGIC FANS. WOO...Why aren't you running?"
"Uh, Okay! I just remembered I had to do something so…"
"Elsa wait!" Anna called out.
Just as Elsa started walking away the ground started to rumble. The rocks were shaking before they abruptly started to roll over towards the group. Elsa barely had time to move out of the way as the rocks made their way towards Anna & Kristof, while Olaf chases after the rock he spoke to. When the rocks got close to the pair, the rocks turned into little creatures with hands, bare feet, eyes, moss hair, and had necklaces with crystals on them.
"KRISTOFF'S HOME!" One of the creatures announced, followed by the rest of them cheering. "And he brought Anna, too!"
"Hi, Bulda," Anna greeted.
"Let me look at ya," one of the creatures grabbed Kristoff's hand.
"Would you like me to wash your clothes?" Another one grabbed Anna's clothes before Kristoff stopped it.
"No, our clothes do not need to be washed. Look it's great to see you all, but where's Grand Pabbie?"
"He's napping," one the creatures, smaller than the rest replied. "But look! I grew a mushroom!"
"I earned my fire crystal."
"I passed a kidney stone."
"How have you've been Anna, dear?" The creature known as Bulda asked. "You haven't visited in ages!"
"I've been doing great thanks, but I'm not just here for a visit. I want you to meet someone."
"Oh, who?"
"Uh, hello?" Elsa finally found her voice.
All of the creatures turn to stare at her, blinking simultaneously.
"They brought a friend!" Bulda shouted.
"A FRIEND!"
The creatures lifted Elsa off her feet and moved her to her two other friends, ignoring her protests. They then threw her into Kristoff's arms.
"What's going on?" Elsa asked.
"I've learned to roll with it," Kristoff told her as she placed her back on her feet.
"Let me see." Bulda stood on top of the creature and grasp Elsa's shoulders. "Soft hair, beautiful eyes, and such smooth skin! What's your name?"
"Elsa."
"What a wonderful name!"
"Thanks," Elsa answered nervously. "What exactly are you guys?"
"Why were trolls, my dear! Ever heard of us?"
Something about that word seems familiar to Elsa, but she couldn't exactly pinpoint it. "I...it's been a long time."
"Anyways, now that we got the introduction done, Elsa here can do magic."
"Magic?" All of the trolls turn their attention towards Elsa. Anna could see Elsa looking a little uncomfortable about this.
"Go on, show them." Anna put a hand on Elsa's shoulder.
With a deep breath, Elsa twirled her hands around forming a snowball. When it grew big enough she threw it into the air where exploded into many snowflakes. The trolls all looked in wonder, letting out 'oohs' and 'aww's'.
"That is an amazing gift!" Bulda shouted excitedly, causing several trolls, mostly the younger ones, to group around her.
"What else can you do?"
"Can you make an ice sculpture?"
"Make an ice rink!"
"I wanna build a snowtroll!"
"Easy guys. I'm sure Elsa would love to show more of her magic but we had a long walk over here and I'm sure she would like to settle down for a bit."
"Not a problem. It's almost about lunchtime anyway. I think I may have enough for you, Elsa," Bulda said.
"If you don't have enough then you don't have to go through the trouble."
"Nonsense! Any friend of Kristoff is a friend of ours and deserves the most hospitable treatment we can offer! Now come, all of you settle down while I'll prepare the food."
As Bulda left to go make lunch, Kristoff and Anna took that time to introduce Elsa to several of the trolls. It was hard for Elsa to keep track of who's who due to the trolls having similar appearances. The only trolls she manages to remember is Cliff, who is Bulda's husband, and Gothi, the troll's priest.
After the introductions were down they all sat on a rock table where Bulda appeared with a rock cauldron and pour some mushy substance in their bowls. Kristoff & Sven, and most of the trolls sitting with them immediately started digging in, Anna only asks for a small amount, despite Bulda's insistence, claiming to had eaten a big breakfast. Elsa found herself enjoying the food.
"Elsa was it?" Cliff spoke up. "How long have you known those two?"
"A few months."
"How'd you guys meet?"
"Elsa found Anna at the brink of death in a blizzard, and she and Kristoff almost killed each other," Olaf blurted out loud, earning him odd stares from the three humans.
"Huh, interesting," Cliff manage to reply before resuming his meal.
"So, all of you guys are Kristoff's family?"
"We sure are!" Bulda rolls next to Kristoff. "Poor thing was only a small child when he and Sven made their way upon here. I immediately fell in love and here we are, ten years and counting. He's the most perfect son you could ask for. Except for the clumpy way he walks."
"And the grumpy way he talks."
"And the pear-shaped, square-shaped weirdness of his feet."
"And though we know he washes well-he always ends up sort of smelly."
Kristoff tried to get the trolls from continuing. "Okay guys, I think she gets it."
"There's also the way he runs scared."
"And that he's socially impaired."
"And that he only likes to tinkle in the woods…"
"Okay guys, I think she gets it!" Kristoff spoke up, trying hard not to blush.
"What does 'tinkle in the woods' mean?" Elsa whispered to Anna.
"I'll tell you later…"
"But despite being a bit of a fixer-upper, we all still love him." Bulda hugs Kristoff. "But enough about him, tell us about yourself, Elsa? Where are you from?"
"I live on the North Mountain in an ice palace."
"You live in an ice palace?!" Several of the younger trolls gasps in awe. "Are you a princess, like Anna?"
"No. I just made it a palace because I like how they look."
"You built it! How?"
"With my magic. At the time I pictured it in my mind and did the rest…"
"Wow…" All the young trolls replied. "Can you please play with us! Please?"
Joy grew within Elsa at the young troll's question. "I would love too."
"I wanna play too!" Olaf piped in.
"Oh boy…" Kristoff spoke with worry, recalling just how playing the young trolls can get whenever they play games. "It's gonna be a long afternoon."
Several hours went by in a breeze as the three humans, snowman, and trolls played in Elsa's snow which covered about a quarter of the grounds. The older trolls didn't mind all the snow since they were having fun as well in it. Everyone plays a variety of games ranging from snowball fights, snow angels, sledding, and building snowmen, or trolls in this case.
Much to Kristoff's predictions, his younger family members were crazy in the snow. That level of craziness thankfully didn't wear Elsa down but it did the same to the trolls. A majority of the younger trolls soon began to tire out, some of which even yawed.
"Alright, little ones! I think it's time for you all to take your naps!" The little trolls let out collective groans at Bulda's announcement. "Now now, I'm sure you all want to continue to play, but rest is important for us trolls."
"Can you tell us a story?" one of the younger trolls asked before another piped up. "Ooh! Can you tell the story about the prince and the moondrop! Please?!"
Elsa glance at Anna. "Prince?"
"It's a story that my father told me when I was a kid. It's a hit with these young ones." The princess look at the trolls with a smile. "And I would love to tell it again."
All of the younger trolls immediately gathered around the princess. "Okay, it's been a little while, let's see...Oh right!" She straightens herself before clearing her throat.
"Once upon a time, long even before I was born, there lied a kingdom that was ruled by a king & queen. The rulers also had a son, a prince. One night he left his home to explore the woods where he got hurt very badly. By meer luck, a moon teardrop landed on him and saved his life. Sadly, it came at the cost of his memories."
As the young trolls made exaggerated gasps, Elsa went to her thoughts as she reflects the words just spoken by Anna
"A prince that was hurt, saved by moondrop, forgotten who he was. This sounds familiar…"
She turned her attention as Anna resumes the story. "A nearby village took him in and lived a normal life. He befriended the villagers, got married and had a family of his own unaware that his parents had been searching for him for years. He kept having dreams of his former home but couldn't put them together so his wife decided to help him out."
"And then she took him to her troll family!" A young troll piped up.
"Yes. The trolls told him that there was ice in his head which froze his memories and his dreams were his memories trying to thaw out."
"A village took him in, started a family, his wife knew trolls. I know this story..."
"So the trolls helped him put pieces from his dreams together to reveal a castle. He and his family traveled to the nearest castle. There he saw his parents for the first time in years. It was then that the prince's memories thawed out and remembered who he is. They all lived happily ever after. That was possible because in the end love will thaw.
Love will Thaw…
The phrases repeated with Elsa's head over and over again. At first, she recalled it with Anna's voice but it slowly transitioned to that of a male's. Not Kristoff's friendly character, nor even Fritjoff's harsh nature. This voice felt warm, safe, and loving. With another glance at Anna, her gaze is focused on her strawberry blonde hair as the phrase spoke in her head one more time.
Something within her mind triggered.
A vision shows a blurry image of a man with the same hair color as Anna. Through the blurred image, she can see the Arenedelle crest on his clothing. It then changes to the mural of the little girl she saw in town yesterday. The little girl then came to life looking to be at a reflection of a mirror. Behind the girl is now a clear look at the strawberry blonde-haired man with a mustache. By his side is a woman with brown hair braided in an elegant bun and appears to have a swollen stomach. Both were smiling down at the girl with the same hair, pale skin, and blue eyes almost similar too-
"Elsa?!" The sudden voice of Anna snapped the girl out of her daydream. It was so sudden it caused her to fall out of her seat, while she was still breathing heavily. Most of the trolls had gathered around to see what was transpiring.
"Elsa, are you okay? You blanked out on me."
A sudden rumble filled the air. The trolls that had gathered parted a path for a rock rolling its way towards them. When it arrived it revealed a troll that was different from the others. His hair appears to as a mane, wore a flowing cape out of moss, and more notable eyebrows.
"Grand Pabbie!" Kristoff spoke to the troll. "What's the matter?"
"There has been an awakening. Pabbie quickly moves towards Elsa, gently grabbing her hands. "Elsa, listen to me…"
"You know my name?"
"I'll explain later, but right now you need to tell me what just occured."
"I don't know how but something triggered visions in my head."
"What visions did you see?"
"Most of them were blurry...But I can recall one. There was a little girl who looked like me. A man and a woman were with her. They had Arendelle's symbol on them. They were- We were all happy. I-I think they were my parents"
"You're from Arendelle?!" Anna exclaimed. "If they're from there we probably find them! Do you remember their names or what they look like."
"It happened so fast I couldn't make their features."
"Why not make an ice sculpture of them?" Kristoff suggested.
"Yes, good idea!" Pabbie followed. "Hurry while it's still fresh in your mind."
Elsa took a second to sit at the rock table everyone had lunch at. Quickly she twirled her hands as she made two ice figurines of the man & woman she saw that were big enough for everyone around to see.
"Th-Those are your parents?" Anna asked.
"I'm certain they are. Do you know them?" Rather answering her immediately, Anna can't take her gaze off of the two figurines in front of her, her eyes in disbelief. The same look appeared onto Kristoff's eyes as well. "Please Anna, do you know them?"
"They're my parents…"
Elsa's eyes widen with confusion. "What?"
"Those people are my parents too," Anna repeated.
It grew silent in the area for a brief moment, which felt like hours.
"Wait, hold up!" Olaf said. "How can Elsa's parents be Anna's parents. That simply impossible to happen. Unless…" The snowman let out a big gasp. "Unless you two are-!"
"Family," Pabbie finished. "Anna, Elsa you two are sisters."
The world around Elsa suddenly started to feel dizzy for her. Hands placed upon her head, her breathing increases a bit. Then everyone goes to black.
It's been awhile, my friends. This fic has been getting alot of traffic lately (not that I'm complaining) most likely with Frozen 2 out. I saw the movie a few weeks back and I loved it. Of course I'm most likely gonna make some revisions due to the new info the movie provided, so if you guys re-read previous chapters at some point don't be surprise if some details have been changed.
2 years, 5 months, 17 days, and 30 chapters later, Anna & Elsa finally learned the truth. I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter and I wish you a Merry Christmas.
Thanks for the favs, follows, and reviews. Happy Reading.
