Dark Search Through the Hottest Desert

The sun has started raising from the horizon some time ago as everything seem peaceful with the area of a forest being quiet like nothing can disturb that peace.

"Take this!" Homura shouted.

But right now, that quiet peace is being replaced by the sounds of two people shouting at each other along with metal clashing as well.

"You're gonna have to do better than that." Shadow commented.

The scene shows of Shadow jumping away from another clash with Homura as she was sent back almost about to hit a tree with her back, but she was able to move her body to land on the tree with her feet and jump off to the ground.

"Damn, I really felt that one." Homura smirked.

"Thought you would like a good training session when you can feel the actual pain even it's just training." Shadow said with his sword on his shoulder.

"Oh yeah, feeling the real deal is so much more motive then just going with the light punches." Homura nodded as she crosses her six swords together and spread apart with a grin.

"Alright Shadow, I'm coming at you this time." Homura said as she bends down a little getting ready to charge at her training partner.

Shadow smirks as he feels a little excited of another clash with Homura as he got his sword off the shoulder and enter a fighting stance with the tip of the blade pointing at her.

The two fighters stand at their spots staring at each other for what could feel like hours when it has only been a moment, and a single leaf fell off from one tree and float down until it touches the ground.

Both Shadow and Homura charge at each other the instant the leaf landed on the ground with their swords clashing onto each other again, then they push each other away again.

"(Man, training with him is the bomb!)" Homura thought excited.

The two starts jumping from one tree to another while jumping at each other trading blows with their swords over and over for a while, then one clash Homura manages to kick Shadow down and chase after him.

"Not bad." Shadow smirked.

Shadow flip himself and lands on the ground as Homura comes in throwing down her swords which he moves to the side letting them hit the ground, and she throws her other arm only for him to block the attempted attack with his sword then the two clash their swords again.

He thrust his sword forward that Homura caught between her swords push it down then up again to make a big opening for her to attack, but Shadow reacted faster as he throws one kick knocking the incoming swords away.

"(I almost had him that time.)" Homura thought cursed.

"You're gonna have to be do better than that if you want to beat me." Shadow grinned.

"Oh, is that so, mister wise guy?" Homura asked sarcastically.

Homura quickly threw in a kick for the head which Shadow responded with the same leg his used colliding with hers, now into a power struggle to see which legs is stronger than the other as it seems to be even at the moment until Shadow starts pushing her back and sent her flying.

"Wow, that sure some leg power you got there." Homura commented.

"Well, I do a lot of running even as a hedgehog." Shadow bragged a little.

"Then let see how speedy you are against this." Homura excited as her fiery aura burst out and her arms crossed.

"(Looks like she's about to do one of her Shinobi Arts, this should be fun.)" Shadow thought excited.

However, just when Homura was about to make her strong move on Shadow to see if she can land a strong hit on Shadow.

"Shadow! Homura! Are you two here!" Yomi called out, walking into the scene which stops Homura from her charge.

"Oh, hey there, Yomi. What's up?" Homura asked.

"What's up is that you two have gotten up so early right at the time of sunrise, all that noise is hardly giving us any sleep." Yomi complained a little.

"Oh, sorry about that. Guess I just wanted to train as soon as possible." Homura apologized.

"I guess I'm a bit no different than her because I tend to wake up early too." Shadow said, given his days as an agent of G.U.N. back in his old world.

"Well, you're lucky we were able to sleep through the noise and woke up fine." Yomi said letting out a soft sigh.

"Anyway, I came by to let you know that breakfast is ready, and everyone is waiting for you two." Yomi informed as she turns around and walk back to the others.

"Well, how about we stop training for now and join everyone at the breakfast table." Shadow suggested.

"Aw, are you scared because you know I was about to beat you if Yomi hadn't come in like that?" Homura teased with a grin.

However, that teasing wouldn't fly because Shadow would be unfazed from that though the bigger is because Homura's stomach growl loud, this causes her to blush of embarrassment and Shadow giggles a bit.

"It looks like your stomach knows you better than you led on." Shadow commented.

"Okay, let's go for breakfast." Homura decided to give in to her hunger for food.

Shadow and Homura made their way back to the Crimson Squad's home cave, making a quick shower at the waterfall nearby to clean themselves up from all the sweats they made during their training sessions this morning then eating with everyone else.

"So, what are we going to do today?" Mirai asked.

"Well, we don't actually have any work to do today meaning its our day off." Yomi informed.

"Not to mention our money struggle has started to become better thanks to Shadow always being with us." Haruka pointed out with a sexy wink to Shadow.

"Doing those kinds of jobs is not something I would find myself to do, but I learned in life that you got to deal with the hand you're dealt with." Shadow stated.

"You can say that again, our life has become hard since abandoning the Evil Shinobi ways and being treated as Rogues doesn't help in the long run." Hikage said bluntly.

"Well, there's nothing we can do about it now. It's the path we chose to live in and it's gonna be that way until our death." Homura said strongly.

"You sure don't let the hardships get you down." Shadow commented.

"That's because I got to stay strong for everyone, and they've been doing the same for me too." Homura said.

"Of course, do you think we were going to let you carry the burden by yourself? I don't think so." Mirai shook her head before eating her sausage patty.

"What she said, we're all in this together no matter what." Yomi nodded.

"Aw, how the Hell did I get so lucky with having great friends like you guys." Homura smiled with a little blush.

"Even when you're in your darkest hour, you'll have friends by your side. This reminds me of some people I know who are like that." Shadow chuckled.

"You had a team of your own, aside with Sonic?" Hikage asked.

"I guess you could say that." Shadow said drinking his bottle of milk.

"One is more into jewelries, and she was even a thief too, she tried stealing the Chaos Emeralds back then, but she decided to stop. Then there was this one robot who was created by Eggman build to be our enemy, but he soon changes his ways and now became one of our great allies." Shadow explained about the two companions.

"Wow, that's an odd group you had there." Homura surprised.

"Was Rouge a raccoon by any chance?" Haruka asked curiously.

"No, she's a bat. Why?" Shadow asked back, curious about the question.

"Oh, this woman who's a thief sounds like this raccoon video game character I know from a video I saw." Haruka explained a little.

"Well, since we got nothing else to do. I say we get to training so we can be ready to fight our rivals again." Homura smirked with a bone sticking out of her mouth.

"It's always training with you." Haruka chuckled.

"I don't know, I feel like I want to do something else." Mirai rejected the training idea.

"How about we do some sewing to make some nice sweaters for the poor?" Yomi suggested her own idea.

"But none of us know how to sew." Hikage pointed out.

"Well, you should start learning from me." Yomi offered to teach them about sewing.

"No thanks, these hands are made for online writing and guns." Mirai turned down the sewing idea.

"Oh dear, it looks like we might not get to do anything if we don't decide now." Haruka said in a teasing tone.

"I'm telling you; we should be training!" Homura demanded.

Shadow let out a sigh knowing this is gonna take a while when they start arguing like this as he put the dishes away and went to his sleeping bag, he decided to watch the news about what's been going on in the world since he had nothing better to do.

But just when he was about to check his phone, the Chaos Emerald radar went off getting the Ultimate Lifeform's attention and picks up the device.

"It looks like the final Chaos Emerald finally been located." Shadow said pressing the screen.

"Hmm, this location seems to be tough and will probably be hard to find." Shadow stated, then he gets an idea.

"Well, the others wanted something to do." Shadow grinned as he gets up.

"Hey Homura, how do you and the others feel about walking on sand?" Shadow asked.

(Egypt, Desert)

The desert of Egypt is one of the harshest and most dangerous places in the world that most wouldn't be able to survive here if not properly prepared, only those who are born in the hot country are able to withstand most of the intense heat.

And it's also home to the famous three pyramids and the Great Sphinx that were made over three thousand years ago by the ancient Egyptian civilization, and now they are just for tourist to come see them.

Suddenly Shadow and the Crimson Squad appeared out of nowhere because of his Chaos Control to teleport them to the sport close to the pyramids and Sphinx.

"Alright, we're here." Shadow said as they look around.

"That teleporting wasn't dangerous as I thought." Mirai relieved that nothing bad happen to them.

"Wow, the desert is more empty and wasteland than I thought." Yomu surprised of their new surroundings.

"The sun is very hot here, like it's trying to burn our bodies into a burst of fire then slowly die leaving our corpses on the sand." Hikage said bluntly.

"Could you not say it with a straight face like that?" Mirai asked, now feeling a bit scared from that.

"So, the final Chaos Emerald is somewhere in this desert?" Haruka asked Shadow.

"That's what the radar is saying right now, it appears to be somewhere… close to those pyramids." Shadow pointed the way.

"Aw, the look like tiny triangles for our hands to hold." Yomi commented as she held up her hands together pretending to hold one of the pyramids.

"You could have taken us closer to the pyramids than here?" Homura asked.

"I didn't want to run the risk of appearing in front of people, that could make them mistaken us as some sort of curse of the pyramids or something." Shadow explained his reason.

"Plus, you guys wouldn't want to expose your Shinobi identities to the public." Shadow added.

"I see your point; I think it was wise for you to do that." Haruka agreed.

"Alright, then all there is left to do is run for the pyramids and start looking for that Chaos Emerald." Homura pointed at one pyramid.

"I just hope that radar can help track that emerald better than a metal detector if we're gonna be looking for it under all this sand." Yomi hoped it won't be too hard working.

"Don't worry, I'm deeply connected to the energy of Chaos within me, so I should be able to sense where it is once we get close enough." Shadow explained about his Chaos power.

Homura knew going on this mission with Shadow is going to be tough, tougher than anything she and the others have ever dealt with before in the past, and she can that Asuka and the others who have gone searching for the Chaos Emeralds have gotten stronger through those searches. This can be a good way to train and get themselves stronger to face bigger and dangerous things.

"Well then, Crimson Squad. We have our mission: find the last Chaos Emerald and bring it home, and if we happen to stumble upon something that could get in our way, let's beat them down." Homura stated.

"It's time for the Crimson Squad have handle anything including this desert." Homura grinned.

"Are you with me?" Homura asked raising her fist in the air.

"Yeah!" The rest of the Crimson Squad cheered minus Shadow though he did raise his fist in the air with everyone.

"Now, let's start by making a sprint for the pyramids!" Homura pointed ahead at the pyramids.

"But which pyramids should we go for?" Hikage asked.

"I don't think it matters since the emerald is just gonna be around the area." Yomi stated.

"However, we should ignore the possibility that we may have to search inside the pyramids and maybe the Sphinx too." Haruka pointed out.

"She's right, there could always be a chance that someone may have found the emerald and keeping it close within a facility." Shadow agreed with Haruka.

"Well, I'm sure we'll come to decide which of them we can search after the search on the sand." Homura said.

"And most likely having sand get in our shoes." Hikage added.

"Then I guess I only have one thing to say." Shadow said stepping in front of the group.

"Time to start the mission." Shadow declared.

The Crimson Squad girls each have their own exciting and ready face as Shadow made the first move to run towards the pyramids and the girls quickly follow him from behind, they're prepare to face whatever danger comes in their way. Including some Yomas that could have the emerald and be very dangerous like they heard from the others.

"(I got to say, you look so cool running ahead of us like that.)" Homura thought complimented to Shadow.

(Very, very close to one Pyramid)

At one side of the pyramid about between one and two miles away, there lays a single object shining brightly from the sunlight.

The scene goes for a closer look revealing to be a Chaos Emerald being almost completely buried in the sand, but then there is something under the sand dragging the emerald away and heading towards the pyramid.

Meanwhile, there is a single worker taking a lunchbreak on one side of the pyramid that is shady from the heat of the light eating a sandwich.

"Wow, this is so good!" The worker smiled.

But then he started to see something odd happening at the giant ocean of sand when he saw something glimmering, but that glimmering light disappeared much to the worker's confusion and just shrug it off thinking it was probably nothing and went back to eating his lunch.

Oh, how he soon came to regret not being cautious of the strange glimmering light when suddenly something burst out of the sand.

Something that is big, and the worker is so shocked that he drop his almost finish sandwich and try to run away from it, but his legs wouldn't move as they are frozen in fear and there was only one thing the worker can do at this instant moment.

"Holy Fucking Ra?!" The worker shouted.

And a big crashing sound erupted as one explorer-like hat was sent flying in the air for a moment until it landed on the sand, along with a big blood stain covering under half of the hat.

KO a new chapter is done and hope you all enjoy it!
