Chapter 1: A New World, A New Beginning
Ben woke up with a start, a strange sensation filling his chest as he opened his eyes. The sunlight streaming through the window felt… different. He blinked rapidly, trying to adjust to his surroundings. The room was cozy, decorated in a familiar yet foreign style. The walls were painted a soft blue, with a few posters of Pokémon hanging from the walls. His bed was neatly made, and the air smelled faintly of lavender.
The most shocking part was the fact that everything around him felt real — more real than anything he'd experienced before. This wasn't Earth, the world he remembered. He remembered the mundane details of his life — the familiar sounds of traffic, the constant rush of people, the long hours of work, and the nights spent wishing for something different. But now, none of that existed. All that was left was the faint recollection of his past life and this new one.
Sitting up, Ben looked down at himself. He was wearing a simple, blue T-shirt and a pair of shorts, and for the first time since waking up, he noticed something strange. On his wrist, there was a small, glowing bracelet — it emitted a soft, pulsating light, almost like it was alive. He raised it up to his eyes, inspecting it.
A voice suddenly filled his mind, as if it had always been there. "Welcome, Ben. You've been chosen. You are now a part of the Color System. Your Pokémon will be able to change their colors."
Ben's heart skipped a beat. Color System?
He quickly stood up and made his way to the window, pulling back the curtain. Outside, the town looked peaceful, with rolling hills in the distance, tall trees lining the roads, and houses that looked like something straight out of a Pokémon world. Pokémon — the creatures from his favorite childhood cartoons, the ones he'd once only imagined as fictional. They were real, and they were everywhere.
Outside, he saw a few Pokémon walking alongside trainers. There was a pink Butterfree fluttering by, a Squirtle and Pikachu chasing each other playfully in the street, and even a group of Eevees, their fluffy tails swaying as they dashed around. This was real. This was Pokémon.
Suddenly, Ben felt something stir inside him. He wasn't just a regular person in this world. There was something special about him. He could feel it. He was different.
A soft knock on the door interrupted his thoughts. He turned around and saw an older man, wearing a wide-brimmed hat and a smile that seemed to radiate warmth. "Ah, you're awake," the man said kindly. "I'm Professor Maple, and I'm here to get you started on your journey. I assume you've noticed the bracelet?"
Ben nodded, his curiosity piqued. "Yes, I did. What's the Color System? And why am I here?"
Professor Maple chuckled softly, stepping inside. "The Color System is a unique ability granted to only a select few. It allows the user to manipulate the colors of their Pokémon, giving them the ability to customize their appearances in ways no one else can. But it's not just about aesthetics. The color changes have special effects on the Pokémon's abilities, powers, and even their evolutions."
Ben was speechless. This was beyond anything he had ever imagined. He had read about the different regions and their unique Pokémon abilities, but never had he come across anything like this.
"So, what happens now?" Ben asked, his voice barely above a whisper. He could hardly process everything that was happening.
Professor Maple smiled and handed him a small Pokéball. "Now, you choose your first Pokémon. I've set up a selection for you in the lab outside. With your Color System ability, your Pokémon will be able to change their colors and powers as you see fit. It's an advantage few trainers will ever experience."
Ben's heart raced. He had always dreamed of being a Pokémon trainer, but now, it seemed like the dream was becoming a reality. "What kinds of Pokémon can I choose from?"
"That's the exciting part," Professor Maple said with a twinkle in his eye. "You'll have the chance to choose a Pokémon that suits you, and from there, you'll begin your journey. But remember — it's not just about the colors and powers. It's about the bond you form with them."
With that, Ben followed Professor Maple outside, the fresh air hitting him as he stepped into the sunlight. He could feel the pulse of the Color System on his wrist, and with every step, it seemed to grow stronger.
He looked around at the Pokémon bustling through the streets, each one unique and vibrant. He wondered what his first Pokémon would be like, and what their colors would look like. But most of all, he wondered what adventures awaited him in this world.
As they approached the lab, Professor Maple opened the door to a large room, filled with glass tanks and various devices. In the center of the room was a table with several Pokéballs. Each one was a different shade of color, glowing softly as if they contained something special.
"Choose wisely, Ben," Professor Maple said. "Your journey starts here."
Ben stepped forward, a sense of excitement and purpose filling him. He was ready. Ready for the unknown, for the challenges, and for the bond that would soon form between him and the Pokémon that awaited him.
He reached out, his fingers brushing against the Pokéballs.
