The magnificent kingdom of Vellona, with its rolling hills and shimmering waters, thrummed with excitement as the citizens prepared for their momentous annual celebration. On July eighteenth, 1855, it seemed the day had arrived sooner than ever before. Flags adorned with the royal crest—symbolizing both ocean and land—fluttered joyously from every tower and building in the bustling capital city. The royal crest, as the very heart of the celebration, was a striking emblem, dominated by various shades of blue set against a soft blue background, evoking a serene, aquatic theme. The center features a stylized design that expertly combines curved and angular shapes to form the initials ''V'' and ''A'' in harmonious unity. Surrounding the central emblem was an intricate border of sea-themed elements, including shells, starfish, and coral, artfully arranged to convey a sense of unity and connection with the ocean. The use of different tones of blue added a visual depth, suggesting tranquilly and the fluidity of water. These marine motifs symbolize beauty, nature, and a deep affinity for the sea. The royal crest was a token that acted as a beacon of the two worlds finally coming together. The initial V represented the kingdom of Vellona, and the A represents the underwater kingdom of Alantica. How it sometimes seemed like only yesterday that the young mermaid princess Ariel had dared to leave behind her underwater home for a chance at true love, breaking the boundaries between sea and shore.
Her courageous journey had not only won her a human heart that day but also united both worlds in a way that few had ever imagined. Today marks that day. A day of celebration in union, the anniversary of the day when true love triumphed over the barriers of land and sea, a day that echoed the laughter of merfolk and humans alike, as each world got ready. The air hummed with the cheerful sounds of festivities, a symphony of laughter and music bringing light to the distant clang of blacksmiths busy at work, crafting armour for the guards as they wished to look their best. The royal palace, a breathtaking structure of white marble and shimmering gold, was adorned with all sorts of garlands, each one bearing bright purples and three different shades of pink, as the staff busied themselves as they got to work transforming the courtyard into a fairy-tale wonderland of colours and lights. The festive atmosphere radiated beyond the palace walls, in fact, spilling out into the bustling marketplaces and quiet residential streets, where ever the humblest of homes displayed their own colourful banners in honour of the wondrous occasion. Today marks the day when the country of Vellona would not only be gaining a new princess but also a new queen in Queen Ariel, the once little mermaid who captured the heart of their prince, Prince Eric. It was incredible, when one thought about it, how it had all begun in the vibrant depths of the ocean, where Ariel, a spirited mermaid with an adventurous heart, yearned for a world beyond her own. During one of her escapades to the surface, she had seen the ship on fire; instead of swimming away, she raced underneath the waters, saving the young prince before he could drown. Captivated by his charm and courage, Ariel longed to leave her undersea life and join him on land.
Ariel had always longed to experience the world beyond her underwater realm. With a mermaid's tail preventing her from walking on land, she yearned for the freedom of legs. Fueled by her desire, she sought the help of Ursula, the cunning sea witch, who presented her with a perilous bargain that was impossible to refuse. In exchange for a pair of human legs and the chance to walk along the beach with her prince, Ariel would have to sacrifice her voice. Once the price was paid, Ariel emerged onto the shore with the help of her loyal friends Sebastian and Flounder, determined to win the prince's heart before the sun set on the third day. However, as she grew closer to him, shadows loomed over her quest as Ursula sought to sabotage their love. Through trials of trust and courage, Ariel discovered the strength of her friendships, growing closer to her loyal companions. Together, they navigated the challenges of her new life as a human and ultimately confronted Ursula, forging a path toward love and triumph. In that fierce battle, the young couple proved not only to the kingdom but to themselves that love knows no bounds. Ariel was not just a princess of the sea; she was a princess of the land as well. At long last, the kingdoms of Vellona and Atlantica united in joyous celebration, honouring not only the love between Ariel and Eric but also the merging of their worlds. Their bond grew even stronger with the arrival of a new princess, the daughter of Ariel and Eric—Princess Melody.
