Chapter 25

Humans

I was airborn, i guess this is what it's like to fly, however i had no control. I thought i would look stupid if i started waving my arms around like Scuttle flaps his wings. So i let myself go, as the air was hitting my wounds, making them burn on my skin and scales. Ursula was summoning a lightning storm causing wind and rain. I close my eyes, hoping that my fate will not end tragically. Soon my back hits something soft before i felt myself bouncing off it.

Soon, i land on some kind of hard, soggy wet surface. I open my eyes as i felt myself sliding around. I had landed on the wedding ship!. No wonder i was sliding around!. The ship was rocking from side to side, due to the rough waves caused by Ursula's storm. Fearful screams could be heard from terrified humans. Many of them run passed me not even noticing my presence. I hear directions being yelled out for all the humans to take cover in the cabins below for safety.

Thankfully the boat was being steered away from Ursula, the humans had some sense. The waves also played their part and seemed to be pushing it away. I didn't wish to remain on it being in the risk of being discovered or worse. Ariel and Eric needed me as none of the humans on the ship seemed not want to volunteer to help. You would think they would be looking out for their prince right?. Although there were some distraught screams calling out his name.

Whenever i tried to drag myself over the side to jump over board the ship would rock causing me to slip. Plus being injuried was not helping. I was unable to grip on anything, everything was slippery and wet. When the boat would tilt i would catch a glance at the events that were occuring, it looked like Ursula was now using the trident to stur the ocean and her voice had gotten deeper. It was like the weather events were also obeying her command, it was even getting impossible to see.

Suddenly, i hear another voice but only this i think it was directed at me, i think i had just been discovered!. I try to make one more attempt to escape but i was losing strength. The boat rocked again causing me to slide and crash into something or someone. Like i said before it was getting impossible to see!. "Its a young boy!" a voice cries, "NO! It's a merman! Merfolk are real!" another cries "Shut up man! Can't you see his hurt!" the third cries.

I was busted, i had no where to go now as now i was now in the clutches of three male humans. Managing to look up even with rain and salt water going into my eyes, i just managed to spot that they were wearing strippy shirts and sashes around their necks. They must be the sailors who sail the ship. I glupped as i was extremely nervous about what they were gonna do to me. Was it time for me to man up and defend myself?.

"Ok, you've looked" i shout towards them " I need to save my friend and your prince from the giant sea witch! Put me back in the ocean now!" but they seemed to ignore my request. They just kept staring at me "Please?" i nervously cry, "But son your injuried, your not going back into that nasty looking sea!" one of the sailors says "Let us take care of you!" another says. The sailor's voices sounded gentle and kind but was i really able to trust them?.

All three of them seemed to be keeping their balance as the boat continued to rock. I begin to feel their arms all over me and felt that i was being lifted from the ground. I was shaking and began to fidget to get away from their clutches but it was no use. They had be tightly in their arms. "Don't be scared son!" one of the sailors says to me "Who would've thought that merpeople are real!" another says.

As they held me in their arms, i take another look out towards were Ursula was she seemed a lot more further away now. The ship has successfully been spared. Even if i were to be thrown back into the ocean, i probably wouldn't have enough strength to swim and help defeat Ursula. I was praying i my head for not only Ariel's safety but for Eric's and for all living sea life another under the sea.

"We will take you into one of the cabins and nurse you back to health!" one of the sailors tells me as i felt myself being carried away. They turned around with me still in their arms, turning their backs to the Ursula show. Now i was unable to watch on what was going on "That's kind of you but really i'm fine! I just need to be back in the water!" i tell them nervously hoping that i was being listen too. Hopefully since i am part fish they realise that fish need to be in water.

Nope they were not listening, i was being taken inside to one of their cabins on the ship, some where it wasn't raining or windy. "We will take him to the prince's quarters!" i hear one of the say "Its the only cabin on the ship that's not full of guests!". The prince's quarters? I was beginning to feel like royalty suddenly my nerves were slowly lowering.

"We will place him on the couch" i heard one of the sailors say. Soon i was being lowered on to the human couch, it was soft and almost spongey only dry "Owwww!" i cry as the surface of the couch touched my wounds. "Sorry son! Those are some nasty wounds!" says one of the sailors "How did you get them?" the other asks before the third yells at them " Don't you two just stand there asking questions find some bandages or something! Oh and some water the boy needs to remain hydrated!".

The two sailors left the cabin in a flash obeying the first sailors orders. I remained slient as i watched him observe my wounds around my waist "Hmmm they look like rope burns to me! What were you doing son?" he gentley asks me in a fatherly voice. "Well i..." i begin to answer him but then a thought went through my head can i really trust this human?. Would he believe me if i told him the truth?.

Just as i was about to speak the truth, the two other skinny sailors came bursting into the room with cloths, scarves and blankets but no water "We are almost at dock!" says one of them, "Good!" answers the fatherly sailor "As soon as we get off we will be able to get some proper bandages for this boy!". I look at the stuff the sailors had collected and none of them looked particularlly appealling "Ahhhh got any seaweed?" i ask them, the three of them look at me stunned "SEAWEED?".

"Whenever merpeople get injured under the sea, seaweed is the greatest thing to wrap around a wound! Only the soft and smooth kind through!" i confidently inform them, they still looked at me shocked until one of the sailors say that they sore some seaweed out on deck "Come on, I saw heaps of it out on deck!". The two sailors leave the cabin once more "I hope they find some seaweed of your exact discription son!" the fatherly sailor tells me "I hope so too!" i answer back to him.
