The young blond male looked around, still disoriented from the sudden transportation. This would be his second chance at life or it would be better to say it would be his first chance at life.

It was difficult to try and make sense of this new identity. The merging of two souls. He looked at the small, childlike hands he now possessed.

A copy and a child that didn't get to live more than a few years.

This would be his new life. A life in the realm where the resident Gods no longer overlooked human life. A realm where he was free of destiny and could live out this new life in peace.

Suddenly, he heard screams and the sound of fighting coming from a nearby forest. Without hesitation, he ran towards the sound, determined to help whoever was in trouble.

As he entered the forest, he saw two young girls being attacked by creatures he had never seen before.

The young male jumped into action, using the ninja skills that flooded his mind to quickly dispatch the creatures. The older girl noticed him and paused in surprise, watching as he fought with incredible speed and agility. Finally, the last Grimm was defeated, and Naruto turned to face the girls.

The blonde girl was amazed by his combat skills. "Whoa, you're really strong!" she exclaimed.

He smiled at her. "Thanks. Are you two okay?" he asked, turning to the two of them.

The little girl with black short raven colored hair looked up at him with wide eyes. "You saved us," she whispered.

He nodded. "I'm glad I could help. My name is Naruto. What are yours?" After much consideration it made sense to simply just be Naruto. A majority of his memories and skills were of that identity. And this was a wholy separate world than that one. Instead of wallowing in despair and misery for the rest of his life he decided he would embrace it and looked at the glass half full. It made no sense to punish himself and the other people he would inevitable come to know brooding in angst instead of making the most of a second chance at life.

"I'm Yang, and this is my little sister, Ruby," the little blond girl replied.

Naruto knelt down to be at eye level with Ruby. "Hey, Ruby. Are you hurt?"

Ruby shook her head. "No, I'm okay."

Naruto smiled at them. "My name's Naruto. Are you two lost?"

Yang nodded. "We're looking for my mom. We heard she's around here somewhere, but we got attacked by these Grimm on the way."

Naruto looked between the two of them. They shared familial features, but they were more defined then even siblings that took after one parent more than the other.

So half-siblings was his guess.

"I hope you find her. My parents passed away protecting our home from an enemy attack. Just to have that possibility of meeting with a parent again is something to be cherished."

Ruby and Yang felt sad for the other boy, hearing that his parents were gone and a bit overwhelmed at his response. His articulation was a bit more advanced than what they were used to, especially from others around their age.

"I can help you look for her, if you want."

Yang looked at him perplexed. "Why would you do that?"

Naruto shrugged. "It's the right thing to do. Besides, it's dangerous out here. There's probably more of those monsters out here."

Yang looked at him for a moment before nodding. "Okay. Thanks, Naruto." He wasn't wrong. The Grimm would have turned them into chow if he hadn't showed up.

Ruby looked up at Naruto, her big silver eyes filled with curiosity.

"How'd you beat up the Grimm?" Ruby thought you had to be big and strong like her dad over the heroes from her stories to fight Grimm? Yet this kid that looked like he was around her sister's age beat them up so easily/

"I'm a ninja, Ruby. Do you know what that is?"

Ruby shook her head, and Naruto smiled.

"It means I know how to protect people. When you're older I can teach you how to protect yourself, too."

Yang raised an eyebrow. "How old are you? And how come you know so much you can fight Grimm? Whenever I tried to get my dad to teach me he says I have to wait til I'm older."

"Five?" If he was remembering accurately. "I watched a lot of what others around me did secretly and just practiced a lot on my own." It was mostly true.

Yang puffed her cheeks at him peevishly. "Are you making fun of me? If you didn't want to tell me you didn't hve to make a stupid lie."

"I-I'm not. I promise I can show you some cool moves, don't be made please!" He pleaded with clasped hands.

Yang shrugged. "I…I guess I can forgive you."

Naruto spent the next few hours teaching Yang some basic self-defense techniques. Yang proved to be open, honest, and energetic and easy to get along with. At the same time he spoke with Ruby who by far was more shy and closed off and at first, she was hesitant and scared, but with Naruto's gentle encouragement, she quickly gained confidence and began to open up to the blond about herself.

"I think we're getting close," she said, looking around.

Suddenly, there was a rustling in the bushes, and a man stepped out. The man had graying black, spiky hair, faded red eyes, and slight stubble along his jawline. Along with a red, tattered cloak, he wore a gray dress shirt with a long tail, black dress pants and black dress shoes.

"Yang, Ruby, are you two okay?" he asked, his eyes scanning the area.

"Uncle Qrow!"

Excitement thrilled through the girl's as they were embraced by their uncle.

Naruto watched the scene sympathizing yet feeling a bit disconnected. Maybe it would be easier to deal with his own emotions once he began to develop bonds of his own.

The man turned to Naruto, sizing him up. "Who are you kid?"

"He's a super ninja Uncle! He beat up the Grimm!" Ruby excitedly began to jabber on about his cool moves.

"He saved us from the Grimm." Yang gave a more succinct and direct answer, looking ashamed. Realizing just how much danger she put herself and her sister in and what would have happened if the blond didn't appear.

"I'm Naruto and I just happened to be in the area."

Qrow nodded. "Thanks for helping them out. We owe you one." Qrow did his best to hide his suspicion. It was unheard of a young child being able to take on a Grimm. Prodigy or no prodigy one needed a certain mastery of aura to amplify their strength and control to supplement enough damage to kill a Grimm and this body was exerting no Aura. It might be necessary to contact Ozpin in case the Witch was changing up tactics and using sleeper agents.

Quickly considering his options Qrow invited the blond to come back with them to Patch. Better to keep an eye on him than to leave him to his own devices if he was a threat.

When they arrived back in Patch it was late that evening, the sun was beginning to set and Yang and Ruby's father Taiyang greeted them warmly. "Thank goodness you're safe," he said, hugging his daughters tightly. "Don't you two ever do that again. I thought I lost you!"

It was a touching scene if not a bit sad. Both girls had devolved into tears and apologized. When the situation began to settle the man finally took notice there was one more person than he expected.

"And who's this?" he asked, looking over at Naruto.

"This is Naruto," Yang said, wiping the tears from her cheeks. "He saved us from the Grimm."

"Thank you for helping my girls," he said. "I'm Taiyang Xiao Long."

"Naruto," he introduced himself. "It's my pleasure to meet you."

"So, is there a reason you were out in the forest on your own?" Like Qrow, the idea of a young kid just randomly out in the forest didn't escape Taiyang's sensibilities.

"I, I have no one. I'm alone now and its not much of a story that makes sense to younger ears."

Taiyang and Qrow shared a look. This kid didn't talk like a kid, and they were able to pick up the cryptic undertone that whatever he wanted to share wasn't something he felt comfortable speaking about in front of the girls.

Very well, they'll confront him later after the girls were put to bed. "Stay the night at least. It's late and at least have dinner as well as a thanks. "

When it came down to it, he had no reason to refuse. So, Naruto accepted the offer and made the first steps of forging his own destiny.

Taiyang stood at the front of the makeshift training area, watching as six-year-old Yang and Naruto circled each other. They had been training together for a few weeks now, and Taiyang had noticed that Naruto seemed to be picking up the moves a bit quicker than Yang.

"Remember, Yang," Taiyang said, "it's not about being the best. It's about improving yourself every day."

Naruto nodded in agreement. "Yeah, Yang. We're here to help each other get better, not compete against each other."

Yang's competitive spirit was a big part of her personality, but she could tell that Naruto was right. She smiled at him. "Thanks, Naruto. I'll do my best."

Taiyang watched as the two children resumed their sparring. Naruto was quick and agile, and his movements flowed together smoothly. To the untrained eye it was seem Yang's attacks were stronger, but she tended to rely on brute force rather than technique, so her hits come off looking stronger.

"Good job, Yang," Naruto said, grinning as he dodged one of her punches. "But you need to be quicker on your feet."

Yang nodded, taking in Naruto's advice. She tried to keep up with him, but he was just too fast for her. Still, she kept going, determined not to give up.

Taiyang watched as they continued to spar, impressed with both. Naruto was gifted, but he also seemed to genuinely want to help Yang improve. And Yang, for her part, was a quick learner and had a fierce determination that Taiyang admired.

As the sun began to set, Taiyang called a halt to the training session. "Great job, both of you. You're both getting better every day."

Yang smiled at him, then turned to Naruto. "Thanks for your help, Naruto. I couldn't have done it without you."

Naruto grinned back at her. "No problem, Yang. We make a pretty good team."

Taiyang couldn't help but wonder were the memories that much of a deciding factor or was the boy that naturally gifted?

After putting the girls to sleep a year ago the older Hunstmen confronted the boy about his identity. It had never even crossed their mind of putting the girls in danger by leaving an operative of Salem around them to possibly put them in harm's way.

Other dimensions

Gods.

Time travel.

They bit off more than they could chew. And then there were abilities.

No Aura but far tougher than your regular Huntsman.

And his abilities, which most would mistake for magic, were nothing like those of fables.

Salem would never allow such a powerful potential weapon out of her grasp to risk an espionage mission nor to reveal his abilities to give the upper hand.

After weeks of careful monitoring, they came to their own conclusion that he bore no ill-will or intentions against their family.

Though they were urged by Ozpin to keep an eye on the boy and his potential.

At the very least he was glad the boy was coming out of his shell. His behavior was less guarded, and he seemed to be becoming more comfortable in his own skin. Having to deal with the idea that you could be a copy and the only home, friends, and loved ones you ever knew were forever out of your reach and you had no choice, but to live in another dimension to keep the cosmic balance wasn't something anyone, no matter their age or experience would be able to handle normally without any sort of support system.

For the time being all he could was provide a home for the boy and pray that he wouldn't become another threat to this world.
