Prologue

Naruto hummed softly as he chewed on a stick of charred wyvern jerky. It is black and still hot to the touch after burning it with his ninjutsu. Wyverns are typical to southern and Eastern Europe so for him to have it when his Kakurezato Is currently hidden in the Amazon Rainforest is a real treat.

Thank you, Kakashi-sensei, the boy thanked his former teacher to himself.

Despite being considered "inedible" by most of his friends and compatriots due to its crispness, it was the one snack he can eat and enjoy easily without Kurama getting upset at him. That is mostly to die with the fact he is a giant Great Spirit associated with fire and foxes.

The giant fox could usually manifest any way it wanted, not locked to the degrees of perception that mortals are, whether they are ninjutsushi or bonjin. The only problem is that he was inhabiting Naruto's mind recently, seeking refuge after the near extinction of the Uzumaki clan.

Kurama has been the patron spirit of the Uzumaki for many millennia, protecting and coexisting with the clan since their inception. But after Grindelwald's war with all magical societies and the bonjin, the Uzumaki, being closely tied to their nontalented brethren despite the international Statute of Secrecy, had faced the man and his army.

This was a poor choice, evidently, as all Uzumaki were left to be hunted and killed by Grindelwald's wizards. All but Naruto's mother had died, leaving her and her clan's knowledge to be taken in by Konoha; the Kakurezato being the new home of the surviving clan members.

Kurama, ever loyal to his stewards, had bound himself to Kushina and then to Naruto after her death. It was only by his grace, and the help of that feminine boy, that Naruto had even been able to keep the Uzumaki name relevant despite the countless setbacks.

Naruto, however, has lived a very good life with a cousin clan of his. The Uchiha, related in some way from too many generations ago, had taken him in after the death of his mother. That's where he met his brother; or, at least, an oath-brother.

Caw!

Naruto glanced up and found a large raven looking down at him. It is larger than an average adult yet its eyes were the most peculiar thing. Staring at him are two scarlet jewels in the dark foliage of the trees, a telltale sign of its captivity under one specific clan.

"Hello there, Nobu," Naruto grinned and held his free arm that didn't hold the dragon jerky.

The raven quietly fluttered down and landed on his arm. He nuzzled his beak into his blonde hair in greeting.

"Is that message for me?" Naruto motioned to the piece of paper rolled and tied to the Raven familiar's foot.

The familiar extended its foot at the mention of his package and patiently waited as it was untied from his foot.

Naruto smiled and put the bird on his shoulder so he could carefully read the message within.

Return home.

The message was simple and clear, so he just burned the paper and looked at the raven on his shoulder. "I understand, Nobu. You can head home. I'll be right after you."

Caw!

Naruto smiled as he watched the bird circle above him a few times before flying away. He couldn't wait until he no longer had to wait on others or to answer to them. But until then, he would do as he was told - like now with answering to his foster's call home.

Despite being twelve and just graduating from Hi-no-Sato's academy, he was not seen as an adult of his community. That required obtaining a placement in one of the major fields of maho studies. A decision that he has been putting off for a while now.

The major fields were Onmyocho, the Tobatsutai, the Yokai-gaku, or the Shugendo. Each one held selective spots every season for graduates where they can get an early start on a career or an apprenticeship. It was the best outcome and reserved for the best of the best.

Naruto had been neglecting making a decision ever since graduating. Mikoto and Fugaku were not very pleased with his inaction and always brought it up to him when they were relaxing.

Sighing, Naruto prepared for that very same talk.

"Welcome back, Naruto-sama."

"Hey, Haku," Naruto smiled as he saw the two-year-older boy. "Where's Fugaku?"

"Fugaku-san is in the living room with Mikoto-san," was his answer while taking the blonde's items. "They are entertaining Hokage-sama and a guest."

"Put the stuff in my room on my desk, I'll go through it after the talk with them," Naruto requested of the boy while hiding his interest in this new guest.

"Of course," Haku bowed and stepped away to do as he was tasked.

Naruto, on the other hand, went the opposite direction that led to the living area. He could hear some voices coming from the room and only recognized three of them. There's Fugaku and Mikoto speaking politely and respectfully. Then there's the old man Hokage with his elderly and wise tone that betrays the power simmering in his old bones.

The final voice sounded even older than old man Hokage, his voice raspy and soft. It made Naruto shiver at the prospect of such an old fissile living to old age in a world that usually ended the lives of those lesser at younger ages. His own clan of powerful mahotsukai had been brought to near extinction in a private war against Grindelwald and his army.

"Ah, Naruto-kun, you've arrived," Hiruzen's old voice greeted him before he appeared in the doorway of the room.

"Hello, Hokage-sama," Naruto bowed his head respectfully before glancing at the only unfamiliar face in the room.

In rich cloth robes that were both bold in colour and outlandishly styled, an old man sat at the small table. He had a long white beard and wispy silver hair, his wrinkled face shadowed by half-moon glasses that glinted like pure silver in the light.

Despite his decrepit appearance, Naruto could feel the power radiating from the man.

Even Kurama seemed to growl in his ear in caution.

Be wary.

Naruto accepted the warning and walked inside at Hiruzen's kindly beckoning hand. He did not bother bringing up the unknown man and instead sat in an open spot between his foster family and the two elderly men. The man's identity will be brought up if it is important for him to know.

"I'm sure you're wondering who this is," Hiruzen motioned to the silent old man beside him.

"I am, sir."

The man noticed the sign for him to introduce himself and he cleared his throat softly. "My name is Albus Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It is nice to meet you, Uzumaki-san."

"It is good to meet you as well, Dumbledore-sama."

"Please, Albus is fine," the man chuckled softly.

"Albus is here because you have been chosen to attend the Headmaster's school," Hiruzen told Naruto and produced a folded letter from his pocket. "As per the agreement between your mother and father prior to your birth."

Naruto took the paper and looked at it carefully, noticing the neat scrawl of both English and Japanese on the paper side by side.

The agreement was pretty simple; Naruto would attend Konoha's academy until graduation at age 12, which he would then attend Hogwarts starting at second year until graduation at age 17. At the bottom are three signatures; his mother's near kanji, Headmaster Dumbledore's neat alphabet, and the final signature that must have been his father.

This is the first time he's learned of his father's name. Prior to this moment, it had all been taboo and unspoken who had gathered him with his mother. He had always assumed the man was not a nice man and everyone refused to acknowledge his existence.

But looking at this name, he had to take a few moments to understand just what he was reading. The name is nothing special, the name being unique but not famous like the Boy-Who-Lived. No, it's because he recognized the name as a very famous hero from the First Wizarding War.

Fabian Prewett.

The name was well known in Europe, mostly England, because of their constant entrenched fights against Voldemort. The man is the younger twin brother to Gideon Prewett, both being the older brothers to a young sister.

So now he learned of his heritage, one rich with roots from Japan's long history while the other is a Pureblood Wizarding family of Wizarding Britain. It did not bring him any new feeling or even relief from knowing his father's name. It was slow to come up but it was just a general acceptance that could easily be confused for indifference.

"Are you okay, my boy?" Headmaster Dumbledore asked carefully.

"I'm fine," Naruto said after a moment of silence. "Just reading and analyzing the paper."

Albus watched carefully as the paper was pushed back towards him and the Hokage. He could surmise the boy stared at the signature of his father as it was the only thing that could explain his subdued reaction. but why a subdued reaction? Shouldn't he be happy to know that his father had at least thought of him?

Hiruzen, on the other hand, knew the boy enough to know that he had long since come to terms with his parents. He never once asked where his parents were or why they weren't here with him. He had been told what exactly happened to his parents when he was eight, of course, but it had hardly drawn a reaction from him.

"What is this Hogwarts school you oversee, Dumbledore-san?"

Now that brought a smile to the elderly man's face. "Oh, you will absolutely love the school. You and your companion."
