(Somewhere between Galar and Paldea)

On some islands far away from civilization, a young man wearing a lab coat was observing the local Flora. This young man had long blonde hair that was slicked back, fair white skin, and deep blue eyes. He was wearing a white lab coat, black hoodie, blue jeans, black sneakers, and a pair of brown fingerless gloves on both hands. He also had on a belt that had six distinctive pokeballs on the right side of said belt.

"This is certainly an interesting environment."the young man said to himself, writing down notes as he said that.

This was no ordinary young man. This young man was, in fact, 17-year-old aspiring Pokemon professor Jaune Arc.

Jaune is what you would call a researcher, and even though he's not an official pokémon researcher, he's very knowledgeable when it comes to the world of Pokemon.

That was to be expected of the protege of the famous Professor Samuel Oak, the foremost researcher on Pokemon.

"It's amazing how this island seems to be between Galar and Paldea... I wonder if it has any ties to history. Based on the plant life on this island, there appears to be obvious signs that it was at one point cut down a long time ago, but it has since regrown. Could this place have possibly been a trading hub between ancient Galar and Paldea... Who knows... But that's what I'm here to find out."said the young man to himself before he checked the wristwatch, which was on his left hand.

He then began freaking out when he saw the time.

"Oh, I better give my daily report to Professor Oak."Jaune said to himself before he pulled out his rotom phone and began looking for a signal.

A couple of moments later, he got a signal and managed to connect a call to an older gentleman wearing a lab coat as well. This older gentleman in the lab was none other than Professor Samuel Oak, the foremost researcher on Pokemon.

"Jaune, you're 5 minutes late for your weekly call."said the professor, wondering why the young man was late.

Jaune stammered for a bit."I'm sorry, professor. I was just so caught up on my research that I kind of lost track of the time."

Professor Oak let out a sigh."I can understand. I do get very invested in my research, and oftentimes forget the time. But I want to make sure you're still alive, so at least call on time."

It was clear to the young man that the professor was indeed worried about him. So he began scratching his head nervously and bowed his head in apology.

"Sorry about that. I'll try to do better next time."Jaune said, giving out a sincere apology.

"Well, as long as you take care of your health and make sure the reporting is often as you can. So, how is the research on the mysterious island doing?"inquired Professor Oak.

"It's intriguing, Professor Oak. There are clear signs that humans are Pokemon and have been here before, possibly hundreds of years ago. But there are no signs of pokémon or humans now. There must be some reason why Pokemon seems to avoid this place. Other than me and my team of pokémon that are currently in my pokeballs, there's no one else around. Heck, even the water type pokémon who called the ocean their home seem to avoid this place. It's like there's some kind of dark energy... I know ever since I came here I've been feeling a bit anxious myself. My Pokemon aren't doing any better either."Jaune said while looking down at his pokeballs, which we're currently shaking with on ease.

Professor Oak slumped back in his chair when he heard that.

"Hmm... How peculiar. Usually, while Pokemon would call any island, they can find a home."bluntly stated the professor.

Jaune couldn't help but agree with him.

"Yes... I don't get why this island is avoided, either. There's plenty of vegetation and berries for the Pokemon to eat. But it's like they know something we don't. I wonder what the reason is?"Jaune said to himself, letting his curiosity out to his mentor.

"Well, try to be careful. We don't want you becoming lost on an expedition."said Professor Oak, who did not want his protege to take any dangerous risks.

"Those not willing to take the plunge into danger can't be called explorers. I came to this island determined to find out what its significance has to do with culture, both for humans and Pokemon. I don't plan to leave until I find out. After all, if I give up now, then I'll never make an impact on my research."said Jaune with the termination, making the professor smile at him.

"Well, you're certainly a stubborn young man."the professor admitted, crossing his arms when he said that.

Jaune couldn't help but chuckle when he heard that. The professor knows him better than anyone, especially since other than his Pokemon, no one other than the professor has ever gotten close to the young man like Professor Oak has.

"Well, my theory is that pokémon used to be a lot stronger than they are today. During the time when Sinnoh was called Hisui, Statler had a much more powerful evolution. Nowadays that evolution seems to be impossible. I have a theory that the harser the environment, the more powerful the pokémon become. This island seems to be a place avoided even by the toughest a modern-day Pokemon. My theory is that something here is causing the Pokemon of the wild to avoid it. Perhaps if I discover what that is, it can work well into my studies on making pokémon a lot stronger like they used to be."Jaune said, letting his geeky side show.

"You certainly want to prove yourself. But don't even think for a second of putting your pokémon in any unnecessary danger."pointed out the professor.

Jaune let out a scoff."I wouldn't do that! My Pokemon are my family! They have my back, and I have theirs. I wouldn't make them do anything I wouldn't do myself."

Professor Oak smiled upon hearing that, liking this young man's conviction! It's one of the reasons why he took them on as a protege in the first place.

"Well, I'll let you get back to your research. Just don't take any unnecessary risks."pointed out Professor Oak before disconnecting the call.

Jaune smiled as he put the rotom phone in his coat pocket. He then let out a huge sigh since he was not used to being micromanaged so much. He knew that in his heart, Professor Oak was just worried about him. But the professor needs to remember that he's not a kid anymore and that he is a strong Pokemon trainer now. At least, that's what he thought.

'I thought the professor had more confidence in me after I took on several gym challenges throughout the Pokemon world. I never became champion, but I'm at least as strong as a top gym leader. He should have more confidence in me.' Jaune Arc couldn't help but think to himself.

He then shook his head and began looking around for more evidence on why the island was avoided by wild Pokemon.

The island was not on a dangerous sea path. Neither did it have a lack of food. Everywhere he looked, he saw plenty of places for pokémon to live and plenty of places for them to have food to eat. So why was this island that was only recently discovered so avoided! Did the wild pokémon of the world know something that humans did not? Jaune wasn't sure if this was the case... But he was determined to find out.

"I know my heart this island has nothing to do with my research on why Pokemon got weaker over time, but I have a feeling it can make my Pokemon and I even stronger. Statler used to have a more powerful evolution before they could no longer be involved in the modern day. Wyrdeer I considered extinct... I know it's because human civilization and pokémon civilization grew more civilized, and that's why Pokemon got weaker. But my theory is that under the right circumstances, both humans and Pokemon can become just as strong as the ancient hero of ancient Hisui, who was said to have bested even Arceus in battle! I wonder if I'll ever find out who that hero was... I did as much research as I could by looking into ancient writings, but to this day, his name hasn't been revealed. All I can figure out is that he was a male... And that's through witness testimony hundreds of years later...man, sometimes finding out ancient history is not easy, but that's what makes it interesting."Jaune said to himself, figuring that if research was easy, then anyone could become a researcher.

Jaune continued making his way through the island before he noticed something covered by a large pack of foliage. He quickly removed the foliage and saw what was clear signs of human interaction with this island. What he discovered behind the foliage was none other than a set of ancient stone stairs.

"An ancient staircase... Let's see where it leads me!"said Jaune to himself, letting his curiosity get the better of him.

He quickly went down the staircase. He made sure not to do anything stupid like run since it was an ancient staircase that was possibly hundreds of years old... Which meant that one messed up could lead to a certain doom! As Jaune Arc made his way down the staircase, he saw more evidence of human interaction with the island.

It became clear to him that skilled stone masons had work on these stairs. He saw from the craftsmanship that only the best from long ago worked on this. He quickly saw that the ancient stone staircase led to a cave. Jaune quickly pulled out his rotom phone and activated the flashlight feature. He then let it go as it began flowing in the air so he could see where he was going. As he made his way into the cave he looked around and saw that there was ancient carvings on the walls that led down to what was possibly the main chamber of whatever those stairs were meant to lead to.

"These ancient stone carvings clearly indicate some kind of battle between humans, Pokemon, and some of the ugliest creatures I've ever seen. They don't look like Pokemon... no, they look like creatures of darkness. I wonder if these ancient stone writings show the first time humans and Pokemon work together, which led to the connection that we have with our Pokemon friends today. Man, I should take photos of these. I can't wait to show these to Professor Oak. Once he and the rest of the Pokemon League see this, it will blow their minds. Heck, it could even lead to more funding for my research."said Jaune to himself with a chipper attitude, feeling like he had just made the discovery of a lifetime.

He continued walking down the staircase for a good 10 minutes. All the while, he kept seeing more ancient battles with these creatures of darkness. It appeared to him that Pokemon and these creatures, whatever they're called, are two ends of the same coin. It became even clearer to him when it's pokémon began reacting negatively to the carvings. Even though they couldn't see them, they had a feeling of anger and dread upon entering this chamber.

"Wow, I can't wait to see what the main chamber of this ancient structure looks like."said Jaune before feeling a tug from his pokeballs.

"What's wrong, guys?"Jaune inquired, wondering what was going on.

Did his Pokemon know something he didn't know. He was tempted for a second to let them out and see what they wanted, but in such a close-knit chamber, it was not a good idea. So he reluctantly left them in their pokeballs as he continued making his way down the stairs. Within a few moments, he arrived at what appeared to be the main chamber.

"Woah!"said Jaune upon the flashlight of his rotom phone, illuminating the main chamber.

Inside was a small room that seemed to be dedicated to several key figures. Jaune recognized one of the figures as AZ, the ancient king of ancient Kalos. He also saw someone who appeared to be dressed like a knight carrying some kind of elaborate ornate walking cane. Jaune did not recognize the figure from any of his research books at all. He quickly had his real-time phone take a picture of the Statue dedicated to what appeared to be some kind of knight.

"AZ was known to have built the Ultimate weapon long ago... But this appears to be before that, before the great war that broke out between Kalos and the kingdom whose name was lost to history. Who is this knight, and why do they appear to know each other. Even though their statues, I feel like a sort of resonance coming from them. Hang on, there's a picture over here."said Jaune to himself before he had his rotom phone point the flashlight towards the ancient picture behind the statues.

On the wall was a painting of what appeared to be two different planets, one with a whole Moon and one with a moon that was shattered. There appeared to be some kind of interconnection between the two worlds, which Jaune suspected might be ultra space. He also saw that the creatures of darkness seem to be coming from the world with the shattered Moon.

"Is this what happened in ancient times. We were invaded by creatures from another world, and so humans and Pokemon work together to repel them. Man, the more I investigate this chamber... The more excited I'm getting. This will definitely make me one of the most famous pokémon researchers in the world once I show Professor Oak and the other Pokemon professors my research. I better keep looking around and see if there's anything that can tell me anything more about this ancient battle."Jaune said with a happy attitude as he saw that there was some kind of connection between one world and another.

He theorized that long ago, these creatures of darkness came to invade the world of Pokemon. In order to repel them, Pokemon and humans had to work together to defeat these foes of darkness!

"Hey, look at that... It appears the ancient hero who once battled Arceus helped in the battle as well... That's pretty neat...han on, why is there a guy on this wall painting that kind of looks like... me...?"said Jaune, who noticed some kind of warrior that looked like him.

"Could this be my ancestor? I can't see too many details because of this dust, but I feely kind of looks like me. Only he has his hair in a wolf tail. Let m me see if I can brush it off carefully so I can get a better look."said Jaune as he began approaching the wall painting.

A few seconds later, he pulled out a dust rag from his coat and began to carefully wipe away some of the dust from the painting. A moment later, he accidentally cut himself on a protruding rock, causing some blood to come out of his pinky.

"Ow!"Jaune said to himself as the blood dripped on the floor.

As soon as that happens, something amazing out of a fantasy novel happened. Within moments, the wall painting and the wall carving the picking the battle began to glow. Seconds later, the statues in the room eyes began glowing as well.

Jaune immediately began freaking out as he noticed that the room began to move around, like it was alive.

"Oh, that is not good."said Jaune to himself before he tried to make a run for it, only to end up tripping on a loose shoelace.

"Dang it!"shouted Jaune, who quickly began tying his shoes as fast as he could.

A few seconds later his shoes were successfully tied and he tried to make a run for it months, only for a wall to appear in front of a staircase, stopping him from going back to the top.

"I better call that one of my Pokemon friends to get out of here!"said Jaune, who tried to reach for one of his pokeballs before the shift in the room caused him to fall on his butt.

He tried getting up as the statues around him began to move in a circular pattern. This caused the aspiring researcher to realize that he had accidentally activated some kind of ancient mechanical mechanism. He would have been amazed at that moment if he wasn't absolutely terrified and not very same moment as well. He soon tried to get up, but he was quickly knocked down by the statue of the hero of Hisui!

Soon, the statues began spinning around faster and faster, causing what appeared to be golden energy to begin enveloping the center of the room. Unfortunately for Jaune Arc, he was in the center of the room.

"What is happening?!"Jaune shouted before he knew that his feet were not touching the ground anymore.

He quickly looked up to the ceiling to see some kind of Golden Portal began appearing.

"Oh, this is so not good!"said Jaune to himself before he was launched into the portal.

The only thing that stayed behind was the rotom phone, which fell on the floor. Within moments, the room stopped spinning, and the golden light that had once enveloped it disappeared. Soon, the wall that stopped Jaune from leaving retracted to where it once was

Other than the rotom phone and the bit of dust that Jaune had wiped away that caused him to cut himself, there was no sign he was there at all other than the few drops of blood that were still on the floor.

As for the young Pokemon researcher and question, he found himself free falling through ultra space screaming like a little girl. He tried his best to compose himself, but nothing that was happening to him made any sense. He was as if he was stuck in a vicious airplane up in the sky that was going to make him puke at any moment! Jaune never liked traveling in the air since it always made him air sick, and I was no exception in that moment as he began free falling into what appeared to be a portal that was red, white, black, and yellow all in vibrant colors.

"I better brace for impact!"shouted Jaune before covering his face with his arms to brace for the worst.

Within moments, he was sucked into the portal, which was a vibrant different colors. Soon, he was enveloped by a flash of light as his entire body went through. A couple of minutes later, the light dissipated, and he managed to open his eyes again.

Only instead of the deserted island he was on, he now finds himself in some kind of overpopulated city late at night. He saw a lot of people looking at him with strange looks. Some of these people even had animal features.

"Where did that guy come from?"

"I swear there was no one there a second ago."

"Mommy, why is that guy wearing a lab coat."

These were just some of the comments Jaune Arc heard as he looked around. But as soon as he looked up to the sky, he immediately stopped in his tracks... The moon which he had seen his whole life was no longer there... Instead, all he saw in the sky was a shattered Moon.

"What in the name of Arceus just happened to me?"wondered Jaune Arc to himself before he jumped out of the way as soon as a car was about to hit him.

"Idiot!"shouted the reckless driver at Jaune before driving away.

"Rude.."said Jaune as he got up and straightened out his coat.

He then began analyzing everything carefully. He remembered the island not being touched by wild Pokemon. He remembered his Pokemon and himself feeling anxious the moment they arrived. He remembers the strange carvings, painting, and statues in that secret chamber on the island. He soon came to the only logical explanation he could come up with.

"I've been teleported... To another world."Jaune finally said to himself after a few seconds of intense thought.

He realizes that is the only explanation that makes sense. He had not been teleported to another world, one that was probably similar to his old one but different at the same time!

The only question on his mind now was...

'How in the name of Arceus am I going to get home?' thought the young man to himself.

Something tells him and his Pokemon that it wasn't going to be easy!

(Decided to write this story after some debate. I'm not sure where I'm going with this idea, but I want to see how far I can go with it. I'll let you know if something happens. In the meantime, enjoy this first chapter. I'll try to write chapters regularly. Please have a good time and I will see you next time. Thanks again, and I hope you support TrexBatman, aka me)
