Problem at the Power Plant
After winning the Plant Badge at the Coumarine Gym, Lincoln and his friends are at the cafeteria of the Coumarine City Pokemon Center while Lincoln's Pokemon were being treated.
"So, are you going to challenge the Lumiose City gym next, Lincoln?" asked Tierno.
"You bet." replied Lincoln before taking a bite out of a cheeseburger. Trevor was currently looking at the map.
"You know, Lincoln; you can get to Lumiose City by travelling south of Coumarine City." said Trevor. "You just have to go through Route 13, also known as the Lumiose Badlands."
"Doesn't sound like a nice place." said Shauna.
"Couldn't you just use that Fly HM Professor Sycamore gave us to get to Lumiose City so we wouldn't have to go through Route 13?" asked Serena.
"I would, but Trevor and Tierno don't have Pokemon that can learn that move." replied Lincoln. "I don't feel right about flying to Lumiose City while Trevor and Tierno have to walk all that way; we've been through a lot of Kalos together, and I intend to keep it that way."
"That's very nice of you, Lincoln." said Shauna as she looks at Lincoln with admiration in her eyes.
"I also want to train my Pokemon on the way; I don't know how strong the Lumiose City gym leader is, so I want my Pokemon to be ready." said Lincoln. "Speaking of which, I think I'll exchange my Florges for my Golett so I can train it."
After Lincoln and his friends finished their lunch, Lincoln picks up his Pokemon from the nurse. He then uses the PC to exchange his Florges for Golett; soon after, Lincoln and his friends leave the Pokemon Center. The group travelled south of Coumarine City until they reached the gate leading out of the city; they soon found themselves looking at a desert.
"Maybe we should get some water canteens and fill them before we go." suggested Lincoln.
"Good idea." replied the rest of the group in unison. They turned and walked back to Coumraine City. Moments later, the group returned to the gate, holding water canteens; the group walked through the gate and began walking towards Lumiose City.
Lincoln took the time to train his Golett; it soon learned Magnitude and Dynamic Punch. He trained his other Pokemon to prepare them for their battle at the Lumiose City gym. Soon, his Shelgon learned Zen Headbutt, and his Lucario learned Quick Guard. During the training, his Braixen began to glow.
"Braixen's evolving!" said Lincoln. He and the rest of the group watched as Braixen began to grow and change shape; when Braixen stopped glowing, she was taller, her arms and lower half of her body was covered in dark red fur with orange flame marking, and the tufts of fur on her ears were bigger. Lincoln takes out his pokedex and points it at his newly evolved Braixen.
"Delphox, the Fox Pokemon, and the final evolved form of Fennekin. It gazes into the flame at the tip of its branch to achieve a focused state, which allows it to see into the future." said Lincoln's pokedex.
"And it says here Delphox now knows Mystical Fire." said Lincoln.
"Congratulations, Lincoln." said Shauna.
As Tierno trained his Pokemon, his Corphish began to glow.
"Whoa; now Corphish is evolving." said Tierno. He watched as his Corphish began to grow. When it stopped glowing, it was red, it had a yellow star shaped growth on its forehead, two blue stripes around its throat, and it had arms with its now larger pincers at the end of them. Tierno points his pokedex at his newly evolved Corphish.
"Crawdaunt, the Rogue Pokemon, and the evolved form of Corphish. It is a ruffian that uses its pincers to pick up and toss out other Pokémon from its pond." said Tienro's pokedex.
"My Crawdaunt also learned Swift." said Tierno.
"Way to go, Tienro." said Lincoln.
During Shauna's training, her Ivysaur began to glow.
"Ivysaur's evolving!" said Shauna. Everyone watched as Ivysaur grew; when it stopped glowing, Ivysaur was now bigger, and the bud on its back has grew into a pink flower with white spots on it. Shauna takes out her pokedex and points it at her newly evolved Ivysaur.
"Venusaur, the Seed Pokemon, and the final evolved form of Bulbasaur. By spreading the broad petals of its flower and catching the sun's rays, it fills its body with power." said Shauna's pokedex.
"And my Venusaur also knows Petal Dance now." said Shauna.
"You know what this also means, Shauna?" asked Lincoln. "It means you can now do Mega Evolution with Venusaur." A big smile appeared on Shauna's face.
"That's right." said Shauna before she looks at her Mega Ring.
Lincoln also took the time to have Lucario use Rock Smash on several rocks in the badlands in search of valuables. He found a Big Pearl and a Star Piece. As Lucario smashes another rock, a Pokemon that looked like a slug made of lava comes out from where the rock was.
"What's that?" asked Lincoln as he takes out his pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Slugma, the Lava Pokemon. A common sight in volcanic areas, it slowly slithers around in a constant search for warm places." said Lincoln's pokedex; the Slugma glares at Lincoln.
"Sorry, Slugma; I didn't mean to disturb you." said Lincoln. The Slugma shoots bits of fire out of its mouth at Lincoln, making him jump out of the way. "I said I was sorry!" The Slugma continued glaring at Lincoln.
"I don't think this Slugma's the forgiving type." said Serena.
"Simipour; want to battle?" Lincoln asked Simipour; he nods and runs in front of Lincoln. "Simipour, use Water Sport!" Simipour releases streams of water all around the area.
"Good move, Lincoln; now Slugma's fire attacks are weakened." said Trevor. A ring of rocks form around Slugma's body and they fly at Simipour, hitting him.
"Too bad Slugma knew more than fire moves." said Tienro.
"Simipour, use Water Gun!" said Lincoln. Simipour releases a stream of water from his mouth and it hits Slugma, dealing super effective damage. Slugma fires a fireball out of its mouth and it hits Simipour, but not dealing much damage.
"Simipour, use Bite!" said Lincoln. Simipour leaps at Slugma and bites it, dealing damage, and making it flinch. "Now use Surf!" A wave of water appears in front of Simipour and it crashes down onto Slugma, dealing super effective damage, and knocking Slugma to the ground. Lincoln takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Slugma, hitting it, and sucking it in. It wiggled a few times until it clicked. "Yes! Slugma is mine."
"Way to go, Lincoln!" said Tierno. After Slugma's pokeball vanishes and gets transported to storage, Lincoln looks up Slugma's information on his pokedex.
"This says Slugma's a boy, he knows Yawn, Smog, Ember, Rock Throw, Harden, Recover, and Flame Burst; he has the Magma Armor ability which prevents him from being frozen." said Lincoln.
The group then returned their Pokemon to their pokeballs and they continued walking down the badlands. As they do, Lincoln sees a large building with solar panels in front of it.
"What's that place?" asked Lincoln.
"That's the Kalos Power Plant." said Trevor. The group continued walking until they reached the gate to Lumiose City, finding it closed.
"Why's the gate closed?" asked Tierno.
"Sorry, kids, but there's no power right now." said a man's voice. Lincoln and his friends turned to see a man with green coveralls, brown boots, and a helmet walking over to them.
"How come?" asked Lincoln.
"Yeah; Lincoln has a gym battle to get to." said Shauna.
"You see; an hour ago, an Elekid showed up at the power plant and began siphoning up electricity there." said the man. "I'm afraid that until that Elekid is taken care of, this gate will remain closed."
"Maybe we can help." said Lincoln.
"Are you kids Pokemon trainers?" asked the man.
"You bet we are." replied Tierno.
"Then maybe you can help take care of that Elekid." said the man.
"Lead the way." said Lincoln. He and his friends follow the man until they reached the power plant. The man leads Lincoln and his friends into the building; once inside, the man takes out a flashlight and turns it on. The man uses it to guide Lincoln and his friends down a hall until they reached a stairway.
"Sorry we can't take the elevator, what with the power being out." said the man.
"It's fine." said Lincoln. He, his friends, and the man continuing walking down the stairs until they reached the bottom. They entered a large room where they saw a large generator; in front of it was a bipedal, yellow Pokemon with black stripes and a pair of horns on its head that resemble prongs from a power plug, grabbing the generator. Trevor takes out his pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Elekid, the Electric Pokemon. It generates electricity by whirling its arms. However, it can't store the energy it makes." said Trevor's pokedex.
"Hey, Elekid; you mind stopping that?" Tierno asked Elekid, getting its attention.
"Yeah; our friend has a gym battle to get to." said Serena, pointing at Lincoln. The Elekid looks at the group for a few seconds before sticking its tongue at them before turning towards the generator.
"Guess we'll have to do things the hard way then." said Lincoln as he pulls out a pokeball.
"Be careful not to hit the generator." said the man.
"I'll be careful; Golett, go!" said Lincoln, throwing Golett's pokeball and releasing it. "Golett, use Mega Punch!" Golett leaps at Elekid and punches it with incredible force, knocking it away from the generator. It leaps up and releases stars from its body, but they go through Golett.
"That was Swift; good thing normal type moves don't work on ghost Pokemon." said Trevor.
"Golett, use Mud-Slap!" said Lincoln. Golett releases a stream of mud at Elekid and hits it, dealing super effective damage. Elekid releases electricity from its body and hits Golett, but not dealing damage to it.
"That looked like an electric attack." said Serena.
"Good thing that Golett's also part ground; they're immune to electric type moves." said Trevor.
"Golett, use Magni-!" Lincoln began to say but stopped. "Wait, I can't risk damaging the generator; Golett, use Shadow Punch!" Purple and black energy forms around Golett's arm; it throws a punch, releasing a black fist from its arm that hits Elekid, dealing damage. Elekid charges at Golett and tries to kick it, but it went through it.
"Golett, use Dynamic Punch!" said Lincoln. Golett charges at Elekid while its fist glowed white and it punches Elekid, knocking it to the ground. Lincoln takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Elekid, hitting it, and sucking it in; it wiggled until it clicked. "Yes! I caught an Elekid."
"Awesome, Lincoln!" said Tierno. Elekid's pokeball vanishes and gets transported to storage; Lincoln uses his pokedex to look up Elekid's information.
"This says Elekid's a girl, she knows Quick Attack, Leer, Thundershock, Low Kick, Swift, Shock Wave, Electro Ball, and Light Screen." said Lincoln. "She has the Static ability which sometimes paralyzes an opposing Pokemon that attacks her physically."
"Thank you, kids." said the man as he walked to the group. "The power should be restored by the time you leave."
"Thank you, sir." replied Lincoln.
Moments later, the group walked out of the power plant. As they walked away, Lincoln sees what appeared to be a red tablet on the ground.
"What is this?" asked Lincoln, picking up the tablet.
"I know what that is; that's a Flame Plate." said Serena.
"What does that do?" asked Lincoln.
"It powers up the fire type moves of the Pokemon holding it." replied Serena.
"You should give it to Delphox, Lincoln." said Tierno. Lincoln takes out Delphox's pokeball and tosses it, releasing Delphox.
"Here you go, Delphox." said Lincoln, holding the Flame Plate towards Delphox; she takes it. After Lincoln gives Delphox the Flame Plate, he returns Delphox to her pokeball; Lincoln and his friends continued walking from the plant.
Moments later, the group arrived at the gate to Lumiose City just as it was opening.
"Ready for your gym battle, Lincoln?" asked Shauna.
"After we get our Pokemon treated at the Pokemon Center." replied Lincoln. His friends nod in response before the group walked through the gate.
Lincoln has helped restore power to Lumiose City. Now he and his friends are on their way back to Lumiose City where Lincoln will challenge the Lumiose City gym. Will he be able to win his fifth badge? Wait and find out.
Meanwhile, in Professor Sycamore's office, he was taking advantage of the new worldwide communication antennae on top of Prism Tower to talk to people all over the planet about Pokemon.
"Let's see here." said Professor Sycamore as he goes through a chatroom used by the scientific community. "Who else can I talk to?" He picks a person at random and links up with whoever it was; who he got was a certain four-year-old Loud sister with brown hair, glasses, green sweater, red pants, and brown shoes.
"Greeting, Professor Sycamore." Lisa said.
"Hello to you too, young lady." Professor Sycamore replied.
