Chapter 6: "Recoveries & Reunions"
Days Later
Within 3 weeks, New York's Manhattan was ravaged by a virus known as Blacklight that was created by Gentek for Blackwatch from another virus known as Redlight.
The general in charge, Peter Randall, was one of the soldiers that had a hand in the outbreak in Hope, Idaho. He blew it up with a nuke and tried to do the same to New York but was stopped by Jason, after being consumed for his memories.
Elizabeth Greene, a survivor of the Hope Outbreak that was infect with Redlight, was the main spreader of Blacklight till Jason stopped her. After being consumed and mitosis-ing out, she had reverted back to her original uncorrupted self and worked to cure the city as repentance.
Dana had recovered and worked on exposing Gentek and Blackwatch to the public, but was hesitant of Elizabeth, so she stayed a distance away from her, which Elizabeth understands.
Ragland worked with Elizabeth the most as they worked on a cure and a vaccine to help the citizens to survive and live a full life.
Jason was on the streets, dealing with infected beyond saving with the cure and hunting the Blackwatch soldiers that took a little too much pleasure in this carnage, along with what remained of the asshole Gentek officials that were responsible for all this, finishing his Web of Intrigue as he called his investigation within his genetic memories that he had acquired from his Consuming.
His powers have also been evolving as well. His Claws were now surraded and had spikes on his arms for defense against grabs. His Hammerfist gained spikes all over them with red glowing in the cracks between them, looking like spiked cooling lava. His Whipfist now had a massive single blade at the end with more blades lined up the arm and whip of said arm, making it like a chainsaw when he wraps his foes in it. His Blade had become bigger in size with spikes at one had passed his elbow. His Shield has also evolved to a spiked appearance, which can be used to redirect or return attacks when used at the right time. (All previous are the fully evolved powers from P2). His Muscle Mass gained more strength and looked more muscular, making it look like he had ripped Mammoth's arms off and was wearing the black rotted arms over his own.
He also gained Tendril arms from consuming Hydras, that made his arms look like a mass of tendril with three fingers on his hand, which can hit enemies with said mass of tendrils and cause tendrils to rip them apart from the inside. (This is also from P2.)
After consuming so many Hunters, he gained what he calls the Hunter Pulse, which allows him to track down anyone he hunting or searching for. He releases a pulse that makes the world red in his eyes and it returns once it reaches the person he's looking for as the world returns to normal. He releases the pulses till he finds the returning origin.
His armor also changed, gaining two variations of it that he calls the Runner Armor and the Fighter Armor. The Runner was smaller to lighten the load and allow him to run at full speed and glide at the cost of him being less durable (P2 Mercer variation). The Fighter was his old armor but upgraded to no longer have the pop collar thing. Both had his dragon symbol on the back of it like his jacket, glowing red like his arm powers.
Jason enters into the room Dana has been working from in Ragland's hospital. He sees Dana working at the computer that she suped up for her work.
"Dana", Jason says to let her know he's here.
Dana looks to him, "Hey, Jason", being casual as per their closer relationship from all that has happened.
"Any new leads for me?", he asks, checking her computer.
"No", Dana denies, "Just busy keeping your face and real name out of the news and all that", showing him on the news pages online that talked about the viral man that fights against both the infected and Blackwatch, only his alias of Red Hood was mentioned due to his red hoodie he always wore and that fact all pictures only should him shadowed by said red hood.
He had also taken to wearing a red face guard mask he had created with his abilities when out in public. (RE4 Remake face guard accessory inspired) The heads of his armors were also red to match the alias.
"That's good I guess. I already dealt with the paper trail myself", Jason remarks, "And your hacking? Might even be better than BG".
"BG? Who's that?", Dana asks, curious.
"Knowing my luck, we'll see her soon", Jason tells her.
Blackwatch HQ, Red Crown Command
Amanda Waller was a tough, stubborn, and intimidating woman, being referred to as the Wall due to this behavior. She was a relatively short and a slightly overweight African-American woman that always wore some type of suit. She had cut her hair short with her hairs curling.
She was once the warden of the Belle Reve Penitentiary before going up in the government ladder to some unseen position. In truth, she now led ARGUS, which stood for Advanced Research Group Uniting Superhumans nowadays. Waller also had plans to recruit criminals for government missions using neck bombs to keep them in line.
She was here in Blackwatch HQ due to the orders of the government after General Randall's fuck up last week that resulted in his death.
Before her now was the Batman himself. He was here for the Justice League after so long being denied entry into the infected island. Randall had also been stopping them from entering to maintain total control of the island for himself.
"Waller", Batman grunts out in his stoicism.
"Hello, Batman", Waller sighs, sitting at the desk that Randall once sat.
"We will be going into the city to help any remaining citizens", Batman tells her.
"I know", Waller tells him, "I'm honestly surprised none of you snuck onto the island before now".
"We were developing precautions against the virus ourselves", Batman tells her, "Researching whether or not it would affect the non-humans and meta-humans, developing suits to protect ourselves, and how to approach fighting the infected should we need to".
"Afraid to say that once they're mutated, or die, they are beyond saving", Waller tells him, "All research from every scientist we have available agree with this".
Batman's jaw clenched at this statement, no matter how true it was.
"There's also some info I must share as I want us to work together to fix this mess", Waller says, drawing Jason's attention, "You may know about Alex Mercer, who was the who unleashed the virus. He had a sister named Dana Mercer, who has been hacking into Blackwatch and Gentek. We believe she may have been working with him before his demise at Penn Station. She's also known to be working with an infected that gained powers from the virus while remaining humanoid referred to as The Prototype, though the soldiers had taken to calling him Red Hood due to the face he wears a red hoodie over his head".
"Anything else you know about him?", Batman demands about Red Hood.
"No", Waller shakes her head, "All info Gentek and Blackwatch had about him was wiped from our systems, both by Randall and his ilk, along with Miss Mercer, there's also the paper trail burned away so we have no physical files either, no known suspects for that one".
"We'll look into it", Batman tells her.
Waller sighs and looks to the monitors behind her, "I don't know how we'll ever recover from this. And worst of all, I fear more terrible things are to come. I hope the Justice League can handle-", only to not see Batman as she turns back around, "Of course you'd do that", she sighs at the disappearance act.
Later, The Watchtower
Batman stands before the Justice League and the Team in the mission room by the Zera-Tubes with Wonder Woman and Aquaman (Kaldur), who were the current leaders.
"We're about the outbreak that has been ravishing New York for almost a month", Batman shares.
"About time", Superboy remarks due to their lack of involvement as New York was falling to chaos.
"You're right", Wonder Woman an agrees, "It was due to the interference of the late General Randall and the dangers of the virus itself that caused us to be stopped from helping. We've got your suits upgraded to handle contaminants from the virus and masks for any airborne dangers as well", too which everyone nods in agreement, "We have to be careful".
Batman flicks the screen to show Alex Mercer and speaks, "You all know about Alex Mercer, the man responsible for the virus spreading, as well as Gentek developing the virus for whatever reason. Gentek is something I'm already investigating to gather evidence. But for now...", he then shows Dana, "This is Dana Mercer, Alex Mercer's sister. She's believed by authorities to have helped her brother in the viral release. Witness have seen her being taken by the Hunters as they're called", showing an image of the Leader Hunter with Dana, "She's known to work with the only known infected with control of the virus in his body", showing an image of Red Hood on screen, running on the streets, "He has been shown transformative abilities and has defeated every other infected type known. He's extremely dangerous and must be approached with caution for everyone here... And I mean, everyone", growling at the end to send the point home for the more confident and stubborn members of the League and Team.
Aquaman turns the screens off and steps forward, "We'll be splitting into different teams. All speedsters, flyers, teleporters, and magic users will be evacuating civilians from the Infected Zones. Those with range attacks will fight off any infected they come across, because they'll have a lesser chance of getting infected than the others. The rest will be supporting the government in securing the area to help contain the city till it's fully sanitized. Finally is a specialized team led by Batman and I".
"Specialized team? What for?", Kid Flash 2 asks.
"To find Dana Mercer and anything about The Prototype, or as the soldiers have taken to calling him due to his appearance, The Red Hood", Batman shares.
Later, Somewhere in Manhattan
Jason was traversing the island for the final part of their plan.
Elizabeth found a cure for the virus for most humans in New York with Ragland's knowledge as a pathologist and her own experiences over the decades. Now was the dispersal method Jason and her developed.
Using their own biology from their power sets, Jason and Elizabeth can make the anti-virus within their bodies, and it won't affect them for two reasons; One, they created the cure from their bodies. Two, their viruses had evolved into their own unique strains, seperate from what was ravishing the city.
So right now, Jason was running around the city while passively releasing the anti-virus into the air, passing over everyone he could, while Elizabeth did the same on the other side of town. It also attacked the virus outside of the body and gets in through the skin for those wearing masks all the time.
He finishes with his route and now waits over Time Square on the north building for Elizabeth Greene to arrive having finished hers.
He waits a few minutes before he sees a blur on the streets. There were red blurs, and red & yellow blurs, along with some red & blue flying through the air, in the distance was green lights from Green Lanterns.
"Well, looks like the Justice League and Young Justice have finally taken action", Jason retorts at the sight, "Was starting to think they were too chicken shit to come here".
He then notices something not far away on the opposite side of Times Square to the south, a very familiar bat-ear cowl and cape wearing individual.
"Looks like Bats is also here", Jason notes, "And I know why...", before hearing a yell.
Superboy, in a skintight bodysuit for the first time ever, jumps down at Red Hood with a punch, but misses as he crashes into the roof as Red Hood flips off the roof down to street level.
"Guess I was right", Red Hood remarks aloud as he is soon surrounded by heroes of all ages. Around him are Superboy, his fellow Gothamite called Spoiler, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Kaldur as Aquaman, and finally Batman and his current Robin landing before him. They all wore full face masks to prevent infection, with Canary's having a modification on hers for her powers.
"Bout time you all showed up", Jason says to them, "Everyone in the city was beginning to think you had left them to die. Though, I guess you couldn't risk any Meta-humans getting infected and becoming these zombies and monsters we have here. You should thank me for fixing so much".
"Thank you? Are you not a carrier yourself?", Robin demands.
"Technically", Jason responds, "Though, I have evolved my virus into something more, and I have full control over it. I don't haphazardly spread it by existing like others do, I have to willfully spread it".
"So you're still a danger to this city's citizens", Aquaman remarks.
"After I saved it from being nuked by Randall?", Jason retorts, "Oh sure, I'm a real danger to the citizens that are still alive because of me", he sarcastically snarks, "I'd figured Batman would already know about that since I'm sure he could see it off the coast of Gotham".
"You kill all you come across", Batman growls.
"You mean the infected beyond saving?", Jason asks him, "Or are you talking about those Blackwatch and Gentek assholes that are actually responsible for all this chaos?", gesturing around him, "Sorry, Batman. I'm not some idiot that thinks simply arresting them and sending them to jail will make them stop, only for them to escape or get out through other means and do it all over again, like a fucking merry-go-round".
"That's not how-", Batman goes.
"Are we ignoring your rogues gallery?", Jason demands, "How many times have you caught them, just for them to escape from Arkham and kill tons of innocents? Hell, after what happened earlier this year, I'm surprised Joker's still alive, let alone what he did nearly five years ago", causing them all to tense up, "You'd rather let your proteges suffer than kill your clown-faced playmate...".
"SHUT UP!", Batman yells in anger, throwing his Batarangs at the Red Hood.
Jason brings up his Shield at the right time, causing the Batarangs to be sent flying back at the Dark Knight. Black Canary unleashes a Canary Cry at Jason, causing cover himself, his mask muffling her cry some.
Superboy then comes in from behind and grabs him by his hood before ragdolling him into an old kiosk.
Jason simply gets up and steps out from the wreckage, wiping off any dust he was covered in.
"Sorry, was that supposed to hurt me?", Jason jokingly asks them.
Aquaman sends water at him using his Water-Bearers, causing Jason to again uses his Shield before he flips out from it and rushes him, surprising Aquaman by his speed before Jason grabs him by his leg and throws him at Superboy to stop the latter in his rush for Jason.
Robin and Spoiler rush him with their Staff and Fighting Sticks respectively. Jason easily blocks the choreographed team attacks with his arms and legs, not really feeling it from all the other more deadly attacks he's suffered since this started.
"Really, my fellow hoodies? This is how trained your are under Batman?", Jason asks of them, "Man, it's almost like he wants a repeat of what happened to the second Robin", before kicking each away, bruising their ribs through their suits before they land down the road of Times Square, bruising more of their bodies.
Batman is quickly upon him.
Jason chuckles as he blocks each attack, "Practically letting everyone else come at me before you took action", before catching a green arrow from Green Arrow, "Nice try, greeny", before throwing the arrow back to him, breaking his arrow and nearly cutting into his suit.
Canary soon comes in for close quarters, joining Batman in a double team attacks, causing Jason to be more defensive against the renowned martial arts masters but it was easier with his hundreds of years of experience via his consumed memories. Jason soon notices another Canary Cry coming from the blonde, making him to grab Batman by his cape and switch places with him before the Cry, causing the Dark Knight to be sent into a building.
He then grabs the blonde by her hair and throws her to Green Arrow, causing them to land in a heap.
Superboy rushes in again to cave Jason's face in, but Jason used his Muscle Mass to catch his fist easily before throwing him around like a ragdoll into the ground, causing Superboy to bleed, before throwing him at the recovered Aquaman that was about to come at Jason with his mace shaped Water-Bearers.
"Come on! Is this all you got?!", Jason taunts them.
Suddenly, Jason receives a telekinetic blast from a newly arrived Miss Martian.
"Enough!", she exclaims before picking him up with her telekinesis to throw him all over times Square before slamming him repeatedly into the ground.
"Miss Martian, that's enough", Batman calls out to her as she continues to slam Jason down, "I said that's enough!", snapping her out of her rage.
"Roger, Batman", Miss Martian utters before landing on the ground besides them as the others all onjoin together overlooking the crater Jason lays.
"Damn, M . Didn't think you were so stone cold. That could have killed a lesser man", Jason remarks as he gets up and steps out from the crater in his Fighter Armor.
Miss Martian recognizes the nickname and goes to read his mind, only to scream and collapse in pain.
"M'Gann!", Superboy cries out and checks on her.
"So many voices. So many thoughts. Too many", Miss Martian groans in pain.
"You need to be careful about which mind you read", Jason remarks.
"What did you do?!", Superboy demands.
"To her? Nothing directly", Jason shrugs, "As to what happened to her... Those I kill, I can take into me, absorbing their memories and skills and using them as my own... She develved in too deep and got all their thoughts, and she drowned in them".
"You...", Batman growls, "We're taking you in before you can take more lives".
"And I'll escape just like everyone you arrest", Jason waves off, "Or consume everyone inside. I wonder if I'll gain their super powers?"
They all begin to rush him again for that remark before a female form lands before them, sending them all back.
She soon stands to reveal herself as Elizabeth Greene. She now wore a redesigned bodysuit that was reminiscent of her old one as Mother but without all the buckles and ports, and with an all red helmet that looks like a blood drop. (All black NGE plugsuit with Arkhamverse Red Hood helmet.)
She looks to Jason as he leaves his armored form, "I've finished spreading the Anti-Virus in my sector. You have done the same, right?".
"Yeah", Jason nods, "Just finished before the uptight heroes attacked me".
"Anti-Virus?", Aquaman questions as he and the others recover.
Jason looks to him, "Our powers allow are own bodies to essentially be viral or anti-viral manufacturing plant. Once we got a hold of the virus' composition, we've developed a cure for it and altered it to work on everyone, aside from us".
"The city is now saved", Elizabeth adds.
"You made another like you?", Batman demands, "Is she Dana Mercer?"
"No", Jason shakes his head.
"If anything, I'm the predecessor", Elizabeth tells them, "As for Dana, she's much safer far away from Blackwatch and Gentek. If she goes with you, she'll be killed".
Batman stands tall, "We're still taking you in", he declares.
Jason spreads his arms out, "You sure about that?", shaking his head, "I've been holding back this whole time because I didn't want to kill you. I could've consumed any one of you and gained all your memories and skills, you appearance and your voice, I could become you. But I didn't", he looks to Batman, "Besides, I already know more than you'd like... Bruce", causing Batman to tense up even more.
"How do you-", Batman goes.
"Because I know those who knew", Jason tells him, "You'd be surprised just how many government workers know who's behind the bat", lying about how he knows to throw him for a loop to fuck with him.
Batman's jaw clenches, he'll have to investigate this later, before saying, "You need to pay for all the lives you took".
"And how many have you indirectly killed by letting your villains live?", Jason asks, "Graveyards full, at the least. Thousands who have suffered. Friends and families lost. And you still sit on your high-horse like you're better than them. You fight a war on crime with only civilians and heroes as the casualties", disgust in the heroes seeps into his voice.
He then snorts in laughter, "If you're so disgusted with killing your enemies, than why are Wonder Woman and John Stewart still running around? Is it because they did it in war times and not as heroes in your League?".
Batman sneers at him as he knows that both Diana and John had killed in their wars but doesn't ever talk about.
"And what about James Gordon? I'm sure he's killed in the line of duty. Does he get a pass?", Jason continues.
Batman glares with the utmost rage.
"And what about Talia al Ghul? She's killed god knows how many people. Yet you still fuck her every chance you get", Jason claims, drawing the attention of all the other heroes, while Elizabeth hides a laugh.
"Seriously, Bruce?", Green Arrows questions, having his own run-ins with the Demon's Head Family.
"Not now!", Batman denies.
"Your dear butler was a soldier as well", Jason mentions, "Even if you ignore that, he still wields guns that he has hidden all over the manor and has blown away criminals since you've become Batman".
"Leave him out of this!", Batman warns.
"Such hypocrisy", Elizabeth remarks with a shake of her head
"What if Jason Todd was the one running around instead of myself?", Jason sneakily asks, "Would you take him in?"
"Don't say his name!", Batman yells, bringing at another Batarang to throw.
"Why can't I say my own name?", Jason says as his mask disappears from his face via his powers, leaving the heroes all stunned.
"You... you can't be...", Robin utters in surprise.
"I can and am", Jason retorts, "Brought back by Talia and her dear father via the Lazarus Pit. Came here to plot to kill Joker and fuck with Batman before I was shot down just for wearing the same leather jacket as Alex Mercer and was infected with Blacklight. And now the hero of New York while you guys waited till the last second to do anything. And you want to arrest me for killing killers", he looks over each one of them, "Do you know how despicable some of them were? They took great joy in bombing areas with civilians to deal with one infected. Raping and killing women for the fun of it. Shooting kids in the head just to stop them from crying", he growls, "They deserved death".
"That isn't for you to decide", Aquaman tells him.
"Sure, whatever helps you sleep at night", Jason scoffs at him before he and Elizabeth turn to leave.
"Where do you think you're going?", Batman demands.
"I still have things to do", Jason tells him, "Unlike you, this is all I am. There's no dual identity to live and waste time on".
"Wait-", Superboy goes to step them before Elizabeth releases a paralyzing gas that affected them through the skin.
"You all should only be paralysed for an hour", Elizabeth tells them.
"Though those with alien biologies may recover quicker", Jason tells her, "Let's leave before then", and they rush away, transforming into a young couple as they head for a safe zone.
Later, JL Watchtower
After they've been recovered from being paralysed, they contacted the others to meet with them on the Watchtower to discuss what had happened in private.
"We ran into the Red Hood rather quickly once we arrived in Time Square", Black Canary had taken charge as the informer, more put together from what happened as Aquaman and Batman had known Jason from his time as Robin more than she did as the team therapist and were reeling.
"Superboy took action first, sending him down to the middle of time Square where we surrounded him. Before we could begin questioning him, he called out our late arrival to help with the outbreak. This soon led to an argument over him killing which led to him calling out our lack of killing resulting in innocents dying", before leading into images on screen of their physical fight, "A fight then broke out after that, which he had total control over, showing no signs of being in any duress. the only one who actively did damage was when Miss Martian appeared with her telekinesis, but he walked away from that unharmed. She proceeded to try and read his mind but it backfired in a terrifying way as we learned that he absorbs people he kills into himself to learn everything that they knew along with the ability to flawlessly turn into the".
"Like a better version of John Carpenter's The Thing", Green Arrow remarks.
Batman finally steps forward, "Due to this, he can have an untold amount of experiences that no one person could ever achieve. Fighting, hacking, stealth, piloting, and more. He can have decades, if not centuries, worth of experience to use against his foes", leaving some horrified.
Black Canary then continues, "After this, another individual that works with Red Hood appeared before us. A woman that we thought was Dana Mercer at first, but they denied it, with the woman claiming to be the first infected in New York".
"They proceeded to mention how they had spread an Anti-virus throughout the city before we met them", Aquaman supplies to those assembled, "Not long after, Red Hood revealed his identity to us, or possible identity anyway", skipping over Jason tearing into Batman.
"Realy?", Superman asks, "Well, you is it?".
The others that were there look to Batman.
Batman sighs, "He revealed himself as the second Robin, Jason Todd", leaving those that knew to gasp in shock, "He told us that Talia al Ghul had revived him and he had returned to get revenge against Joker before he was infected in New York with the Blacklight Virus. Where he proceeded to kill and consume all Blackwatch and Gentek that got in his way, now believing in killing his foes rather than sparing them to return later since he finds the irredeemable".
"Bru- Batman, I...", Superman goes.
"This means nothing", Batman cuts him off, "He's a criminal that has taken lives and we must bring him in. With his powers and knowledge, he may have to be held on Oa or on Themyscira to avoid him coming into contact with others".
Wonder Woman denies, "Batman, even with his knowledge and danger to others, I don't think him being where I come from would be suitable. Some of my sisters may even commend him for his actions", causing Batman's jaw to clench, not knowing how to handle Jason moving forward.
"Tracking him is nearly impossible", Aquaman tells him, "Even when they were using Viral Detectors, Blackwatch couldn't find his location. And he mentioned how he was always evolving. Eventually, he wouldn't be able to be held in any capacity we could use".
"Are you saying the only way to stop him is to kill him?", Batman demands.
"if we even could", Aquaman responds, "I've read the reports on how they gunned him down, burned him, sicked their Super Soldiers on him, and i investigate more on the nuke he got rid of. He was in the blast range and he still recovered from it. Short of throwing him into the Sun, what could stop him?".
"And that's if he doesn't get hold of me or Superman", Superboy adds in, "If he can get the powers of those he absorbs, he can do anything".
"And that's if he even needs to take in all of them", Miss Martian continues, "For all we know, he just needs a DNA sample".
Everyone remains quiet at the monster that Jason could become if provoked.
"So... do we just leave him be for now? At least till we can find out what to do", Spoiler suggests
Batman's teeth clenches before sighing, "We do research into it. Maybe we can cure him or see if the collars will work on him. Till then, avoid him".
Everyone solemnly agrees.
Later, Mid-July
It's been awhile since that day they met with the Justice League and the Team, along with spreading the cure.
New York was better and was slowly returning to what it was before all this started. Though, it was severely under population compared to before. Relief workers and construction workers were all over the place to help repair the city in every way they could. While Jason and Elizabeth, with Dana as support, kept any jackasses in line.
"After everything they've suffered, there's still these selfish scum that will hurt others", Elizabeth remarks.
"At least Dana got the word out and people are listening", Jason remarks.
Since the end of the outbreak, Dana has been working on exposing the truth to the world about what happened. Blackwatch and Gentek were working their lawyers and words to spare them from backlash and paying for what they've done, but at least Jason and Greene along with Dana herself were now considered innocent of their crimes against the civilians and they were now looked to as heroes, though the government, law enforcement, and other superheroes viewed them as criminals due to killing most enemies.
Jason was referred to by the public as Red Hood, since that was what all the soldiers and heroes were calling him. Elizabeth went by the similar name of Blood Hood due to her helmet looking like a blood drop.
Dana had taken to being called Athena due to her information network that she had established for them along with all other support she gives them.
Ragland had left their group to help out the city in a more official capacity as he offered aid at relief stations.
Elizabeth and Jason soon made their way to their current base in Harlem and met up with Dana.
Dana turns to them as they arrive, "Hey guys".
"Hey Dana", Elizabeth greets happily, since they have reached a more friendly relationship after all that has happened when she was out of her mind.
"Dana", Jason greets as well.
"Come here", Dana tells them with a nod to her computer as she brings more tabs up to show them, "I've been looking through those files from Gentek you got me and I found something that I believe is important".
Jason leans over her to the computer, "What did you find?", with Elizabeth soon standing beside him to look as well.
"Looking through them all, i discovered that Gentek has a rival in the pathogen business", Dana informs them, "Several files mention the Umbrella Corporation beating them in retrieving another virus and were working on that in a corporate town they have almost total control over".
"You think they may unleash their virus on the town?", Elizabeth asks her.
"Unlikely", Dana denies, "They're much more cautious than Gentek as they're work is in the mountains near the city or in underground bunkers to avoid attention, not a tall ass building in the middle of one of the most populated cities of the U.S.", gesturing to notes on the theories of Umbrella's testing facilities.
"But you think we should still investigate? Because I would agree", Jason says.
"Can't be too careful after all that's happened", Dana retorts, "They could be just as fucking twisted as Gentek, if not more so", causing the two viral powered beings to hum in agreement.
"So how are we doing this?", Elizabeth asks, "We can't just leave New York right now".
"I'll go alone", Jason tells them, "Liz stays here to protect the city for now, while Dana stays here or some advanced bunker to provide support for both of us while staying away from the risk another viral outbreak".
"I've worked in outbreak before", Dana retorts.
"I don't want to have to worry about you or save you again", Jason responds, causing Dana to scoff.
"So when will you head out?", Elizabeth asks him.
"Soom. Probably within the week", Jason replies.
"You should probably head in through the Arklay Mountains first", Dana tells him, bringing up the map of the corporate owned town and the surrounding mountain, "There's this train tracks that Umbrella uses for transporting their own train. It seems to stop near this mansion for a time".
"Meaning it might be an important location", Jason theorizes.
"Exactly", Dana confirms, "The corporate owned train, Ecliptic Express, will be traveling through there on the 23rd this month in the late evening. I figured you could hitch a ride before they enter the mountains or something".
"Sounds like a plan", Jason agrees.

AN: Done with the Prototype 1 portion completely with the meeting of JL and the Team, and heading into the Resident Evil franchise.
Really tore into Batman for some reason this chapter, it wasn't initially planned in my chapter plotting, I just started doing it.
I made this chapter once I realized that it's been over a year and I hadn't added anything, same with the Eternal Crow and Quicksilver stories. the Quicksilver one is practically drowning due to the fact none of my available streaming services are showing it, and buying a new one cost to much at this time.
