Celestic Contest
The next day at the Loud house, Lynn Sr, Rita, and their daughters, except Luna, were all sitting in the living room.
"Are you excited about the Pokemon Contest, Lola?" Lynn Sr asked her pageant daughter.
"Oh, yes, Daddy." replied Lola.
"I wonder who will, like, win." said Leni.
"We'll have to wait and see." said Rita. Just then, they heard knocking coming from their front door. Lynn Sr walks to the front door and opens it, revealing Mr and Mrs Zhau.
"Hello, you two." Lynn Sr says to Stella's parents.
"Are we late for the Pokemon Contest?" asked Mrs Zhau.
"No, it's just about to start." replied Rita. Lynn Sr, and Stella's parents walk to the living room and looked at the TV that had Marian on the monitor.
"Hello; Marian here, and welcome to the Celestic Pokemon Contest." said Marian. "Today, coordinators will be competing for the Celestic Ribbon. Here, we have our panels of judges."
"I am eager to see the performances from the coordinators competing in today's contest." said Raoul Contesta.
"I'll bet it will be remarkable." said Mr. Sumiko.
"I hope the coordinators enjoy themselves today." said Nurse Joy. In the bleachers, Lincoln, Luna, Sam, Clyde, and Simon were waiting for Performance Round to begin.
Meanwhile, in the Contest Hall's dressing room, Stella, who was in her red evening gown, one of her white elbow length gloves, and white, high-heeled shoes was looking at herself in a mirror while putting on her other glove.
"You almost ready, Stella?" asked Dawn as she fastens on her choker.
"Yeah; ready to win." replied Stella. "You may have won the Wallace Cup, but today, I'm walking out of here with the Celestic Ribbon."
"Oh, please." a familiar voice replied from the doorway of the dressing room. Stella and Dawn looked to see Ursula, wearing a black, long sleeved shirt, a long, dark red shirt, a black choker, and black flat shoes from inside the doorway. "If any of us is winning that ribbon today, it's going to be me."
"What makes you think you'll do any better than the Wallace Cup and the first time we battled?" Stella asked Ursula.
"Please; your luck's bound to run out sooner or later." replied Ursula. Just then, a stage hand walks to Ursula.
"Ursula, you're up first." said the stage hand.
"I figured they'd save the best for last." said Ursula, smugly, before walking away.
Moments later at the Performance Stage, Marian was standing in front of it.
"Let's get the Celestic Town Pokemon Contest underway." said Marian. "Up first is Ursula." Ursula walks out of an entryway and onto the stage; she takes a pokeball from her waist.
"Wormadam, go!" said Ursula, throwing a pokeball and releasing what appeared to be a Wormadam but with sand around it with reddish-brown pebbles and two chains of brown pebbles for arms, followed by a swirl of brown rock fragments.
"That Wormadam looks different from the one from the Wallace Cup." said Simon.
"You see, Simon; Wormadams have three separate forms." said Sam. "The one you saw from the Wallace Cup is the Plant Cloak form, the one Urusla's using is a Sandy Cloak form, and the third is the Trash Cloak form."
"That one sound like Lana's kind of form." said Luna.
"Wormadam, use Confusion followed by Rock Blast!" said Ursula. Her Wormadam's body becomes surrounded by a purple light and its eyes glowed purple. Rocks come out of Wormadam's body and it uses Confusion to make them spiral around it. "Now use Sandstorm!" A sandstorm appears and it spirals around Wormadam; it uses Confusion to turn the sand twister into a sculpture of itself. "Now use Captivate!" Wormadam releases pink hearts from its body and they hit the sculture, destroying it. Everyone cheered out loud and applauded at Ursula's performace.
"Quite an impressive display of moves." said Raoul Contesta.
"And just as remarkable." said Mr. Sumiko.
"It shows how well the coordinator and Pokemon work together." said Nurse Joy.
"Up next is Stella Zhau." said Marian. Stella walks to the Performance Stage.
"Go, Stella; you can do it!" cheered Lincoln. Stella smiles before she steps onto the stage and pulls out a pokeball.
"You're up, Blaziken!" said Stella, throwing Blaziken's pokeball and releases her, followed by a burst of red flame. "Blaziken, use Bounce followed by Flame Charge!" Blaziken jumps up into the air while surrounded by fire. "Now use Focus Energy followed by Slash!" The fire surrounding Blaziken becomes surrounded by a red aura; Blaziken slashes through the fire surrounding her with her now, glowing white, longer claws, causing a shower of glowing red embers just as Blaziken lands on the Performance Stage on one foot and her arms crossed while keeping in balance. The audience roared with applause.
"That was a spectacular performance." said Raoul Contesta.
"And quite remarkable." said Mr. Sumiko.
"It shows how well the coordinator trained her Pokemon to be well focused." said Nurse Joy. At Royal Woods, the Louds and Zhaus were cheering for Stella's peformance.
"That was amazing!" said Mr. Zhau.
"I'm glad her loss at the Wallace Cup didn't affect her performance in today's contest." said Mrs. Zhau.
"It'll take more than that to keep our daughter down." said Mr. Zhau.
Back at Celestic Town, as Stella walks off the stage, she looks towards Lincoln and blows him a kiss, making him blush.
After a couple more performances, it was soon Dawn's turn as she takes her place on the stage.
"Pachirisu, spotlight!" said Dawn as she tosses her pokeball, releasing her squirrel Pokemon in a flurry of sparks. "Okay, Pachirisu, use Swift and Electro Ball at the same time!" Her Pachirisu creates an orb of electricity over her tail while stars are being launched and contained inside of it. "Now send it straight up!" Pachirisu then launches the star-filled electric orb up towards the ceiling where it bursts open, releasing the, now electrified stars, which explode, creating an impressive fireworks display of sparks that rain down around Dawn and Pachirisu; everyone in the crowd cheers for Dawn's performance.
"That was quite a unique performance." said Raoul Contesta.
"Remarkable." said Mr. Sumiko.
"Dawn's performance has shown her creativity and her Pokemon's ability to coordinate two moves at the same time." said Nurse Joy.
Later, in the backstage area, everyone was watching the screen there to see who made it to the Battle Stage.
"I wouldn't be surprised if I make it to the next round." said Ursula. Soon, the finalists were revealed, and Stella, Dawn, and Ursula see that they all made it to the Battle Stage.
"I made it to the next round!" Dawn cheered.
"So did I!" said Stella.
"I knew I would." Ursula smugly said. "Now if you two will excuse me, I have to get ready to win my next ribbon." She then walks away while Stella and Dawn glare at her.
The first round of the Battle Stage went underway. Stella's Beautifly defeated another coordinator's Carnivine with Air Cutter, Dawn's Pachirisu defeated another coordinator's Gyarados with Discharge, and Ursula's Gabite defeated another coordinator's Pokemon that resembled a sumo wrestler (Hariyama) with Aerial Ace.
It is now the second round of the Battle Stage and Stella was facing a female teenage coordinator with long blonde hair, wearing a red dress with purple high-heeled shoes.
"The next round of the Battle Stage is about to begin; it's Stella Zhau versus Noelle." said Marian. Stella and her opponent, now identified as Noelle each pull out a pokeball.
"You're up, Kingdra!" said Stella, throwing Kindra's pokeball and releasing her, followed by a cloud of black smoke.
"Go, Jynx!" said Noelle, throwing a pokeball, releasing a humanoid Pokemon with a purple face with long blonde hair, wearing a red dress with gold circlets on its chest, followed by a cluster of fluttering snowflakes. Lincoln takes out his pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Jynx, the Human Shape Pokemon, and the evolved form of Smoochum. Its cries sound like human speech. However, it is impossible to tell what it is trying to say." said Lincoln's pokedex.
"Kingdra, use Dragon Breath followed by Bubble Beam!" said Stella. Kingdra fires a light blue beam of energy that was surrounded by glowing blue bubbles from her mouth and it hits Jynx, dealing damage, and causing Noelle to lose points.
"Jynx, use Sweet Kiss followed by Powder Snow!" said Noelle. Jynx blows a kiss at Kingdra, releasing a pink heart, followed by snow at Kingdra, hitting her, dealing damage, and causing Stella to lose points; Kingdra begins stumbling around.
"Oh man; Kingdra's confused." said Lincoln.
"Kingdra, use Twister followed by Smokescreen!" said Stella. Kingdra fights through her confusion and spins around, forming a twister surrounded by smoke and it goes towards Jynx; the combined attacks collide with it, dealing damage, while causing Jynx's accuracy to lower, as well as causing Noelle to lose points.
"Jynx, use Psychic followed by Ice Punch!" said Noelle. Jynx's eyes glowed blue and Kingdra gets pulled towards Jynx while a blizzard surrounded its fist; it tried to punch Kingdra, but due to its lowered accuracy, it misses, causing Noelle to lose points.
"Kingdra, use Focus Energy followed by Twister!" said Stella. Kingdra snaps out of her confusion and a light blue aura surroundes her body while she spins around, forming another twister, but with a light blue aura around it; Kingdra goes towards Jynx and the twister hits it, landing a critical hit, causing Noelle to lose points, and making Jynx flinch. "Now use Water Gun!" Kingdra releases a stream of water from her mouth and it hits Jynx, knocking it to the ground with swirly eyes.
"Since Jynx is unable to battle, Kingdra wins." said Marian. "Which means Stella will advance to the final round."
"Yeah!" cheered Stella, while raising a fist.
"Way to go, Stella!" said Lincoln.
"That was incredible!" said Clyde. Back at the Loud house, the Louds and Stella's parents were cheering.
"Stella was amazing!" said Mr. Zhau.
"That coordinator didn't stand a chance against her." said Lynn Jr.
"Now Stella's going to the final round." said Mrs. Zhau.
Back at the Celestic Town Contest Hall, Noelle was returning Jynx to its pokeball.
"We'll be ready for our next contest." Noelle says to Jynx; she puts Jynx's pokeball away and walks to Stella who was near Kingdra, smiling at her before she looks up to see Noelle walking to her. "I should have known you'd beat me."
"You've heard of me?" asked Stella.
"Of course; a lot of coordinators are talking about how an incredible coordinator you are." replied Noelle, making Stella smile. At the waiting room, Ursula was looking at the monitor with her arms crossed.
"I'll admit, Stella didn't do too bad." said Ursula. "But her luck will run out when I battle her." She turned towards Dawn who was also looking at the monitor. "But first, I have just one obstacle to get through."
Soon, it was time for the next battle; with Dawn going up against Ursula.
"Hope you're ready to lose." said Ursula.
"Yeah, well I won't make it easy for you to beat me!" said Dawn.
"Like I need you to do that?" Ursula replied.
"The next round of the Battle Stage is about to begin; it's Dawn versus Ursula." said Marian. Dawn and Ursula each pull a pokeball off their waists.
"Typhlosion, spotlight!" said Dawn as she releases her fire type Pokemon in a burst of flame.
"Gabite, it's showtime!" said Ursula as she tosses her pokeball, releasing her dragon/ground type Pokemon in a flurry of stars.
"Typhlosion, use Flame Wheel and Swift at the same time!" said Dawn. Her Typhlosion tucks herself into a ball as she rolls at Gabite while flaming stars trail after her; they all hit the dragon Pokemon, not doing much damage, but Ursula did lose a fair amount of points due to her Gabite taking damage and Dawn using an impressive combination of moves.
"Gabite, use Sand Tomb with Dragon Rage!" said Ursula. Her Gabite creates a tornado of sand and launches it at Typhlosion while releasing a fireball inside, making it look like the tornado had a glowing core to it; the combination attack hits Typhlosion, doing super effective damage, and taking a good chunk out of Dawn's points due to her Pokemon taking damage, and Ursula using her own impressive combination.
"Typhlosion, use Gyro Ball and Flame Charge together!" said Dawn. Her Typhlosion moves at Gabite as she spins and fire begins covering her body.
"Gabite, use Dig!" said Ursula. Her Gabite quickly tunnels underground, avoiding Typhlosion's combination, and making Dawn lose points for a failed attack.
"Watch yourself, Typhlosion!" said Dawn. As Typhlosion looks around, trying to figure out where Gabite was going to pop up, the floor beneath her begins to crack a little.
"Gabite, come up while using Stone Edge!" said Ursula. Large sharp rock spires erupt from the ground beneath Typhlosion and hit her, dealing super effective damage; Gabite soon surfaces and rams into her, dealing more super effective damage, as well as losing a large chunk of her points due to her Pokemon taking damage, along with Ursula using another combination.
Meanwhile, her friends were watching the battle with stunned looks on their faces.
"Ursula's doing better than I thought." said Sam.
"I hope Dawn can turn this around." said Clyde. Stella was watching the battle on the screen backstage with concern for Dawn, as well as studying Ursula's techniques.
Back on the battlefield, Typhlosion was looking a little worse for wear.
"Please hang in there, Typhlosion!" said Dawn.
"Don't bother." Ursula said with a grin. "This battle's already over."
"It's not over until it's over!" said Dawn. Suddenly, a buzzer goes off, indicating that time was up.
"Sounds like it's over to me." Ursula said with a smirk.
"Let's see who's going on to the finals." said Marian as everyone looks at the stage's screen to see that Ursula had more points than Dawn. "And the winner of this Battle Stage round is Ursula."
"Was there ever a doubt?" asked Ursula. Dawn slumps as her Typhlosion walks over to her trainer with regret on her face.
"We did our best, Typhlosion." said Dawn.
"Your best obviously wasn't good enough." said Ursula as she and her Gabite smirked.
Later, everyone was in the lobby, talking to both Dawn and Stella.
"You made it to the finals, Stella!" said Sam.
"You were rockin!" said Luna.
"And we're sorry that you lost, Dawn." Lincoln said to his friend. "There will be other contests."
"Thanks, Lincoln." said Dawn before she hugs Lincoln and kisses him on the cheek, making Stella frown a little, but she decides to let Dawn have that moment.
"Do Dawn a favor and take Ursula down." said Clyde.
"Planned on that." said Stella.
"You should plan on losing." Ursula's voice calls out, making everyone look to see Stella and Dawn's rival looking at them.
"I should be suggesting that to you." said Stella.
"We'll settle it in the final round." said Ursula as she walks off towards the backstage area.
"You should get ready, Stella." suggested Lincoln.
"Okay, Lincoln." Stella replied before she kisses Lincoln on the lips and walks towards the backstage area.
Moments later, Stella and Ursula were standing on the Battle Stage facing each other.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the final round of the Celestic Town Pokemon Contest has finally arrived; it's Stella versus Ursula." said Marian. "One of these two coordinators will battle each other, but only one will walk out of here with the Celestic Ribbon."
"And that will be me." said Ursula, pulling a pokeball from her waist.
"I'll believe it when I see it." replied Stella, pulling a pokeball from her waist.
"Go, Gabite!" said Ursula, throwing Gabite's pokeball and releases it, followed by red confetti.
"Kingdra, you're up!" said Stella, throwing Kingdra's pokeball and releases her, followed by a burst of black smoke.
"Here we go." said Lincoln, looking at the battle.
"Gabite, use Double Team followed by Iron Tail!" said Ursula. Gabite splits into several copies of itself and they surround Kingdra while their tails glowed white; they spin around and one of the tails hits Kingdra, dealing damage, and causing Stella to lose points.
"Kingdra, use Dragon Breath followed by Water Gun!" said Stella. Kingdra fires a light blue beam of energy with water spirialing around it out of her mouth and it hits Gabite, dealing super effective damage while causing Ursula to lose points.
"Gabite, use Dig followed by Dragon Claw!" Gabite dives onto the stage and digs through it. Stella and Kingdra both look around when Gabite burst of the ground with its claws glowing light blue and it slashes Kingdra with them, dealing super effective damage, and causing Stella to lose points.
"Kingdra, use Twister followed by Dragon Breath!" said Stella. Kingdra begins spinning around, forming a twister around it with light blue energy spirialing around it; it goes towards Gabite and hits it, dealing super effective damage, and making Gabite flinch, while causing Ursula to lose points. "Now use Bubble Beam followed by Smokescreen!" Kingdra fires a beam of glowing blue bubbles surrounding a stream of smoke that hits Gabite, dealing damage, and lowering its accuracy, as well as causing Ursula to lose more points.
"Gabite, use Aerial Ace followed by Dragon Rage!" said Ursula. Gabite flies at Kingdra while white streaks surrounded its body while a red-orange fireball forms in front of its mouth; Gabite rams into Kingdra while the fireball hits her, exploding on impact, dealing super effective damage, and causing Stella to lose points.
"Kingdra, use Agility followed by Twister!" Kingdra dives towards Gabite while a cyclone surrounded her body and she rams into Gabite, dealing super effective damage, and causing Ursula to lose more points.
"Gabite, use Iron Tail followed by Dragon Claw!" said Ursula. Gabite charges at Kingdra while its tail glowed white and one of its claws glowed light blue; when Gabite reaches Kingdra, she spins around, hitting Kingdra with its tail, dealing damage, then slashing her with its claw, dealing super effective damage, and causing Stella to lose points.
"Kingdra, use Bubble Beam followed by Water Gun!" said Stella. Kingdra fires a beam of glowing bubbles from her mouth surrounded a stream of water that hits Kingdra, dealing damage, and causing Ursula to lose points.
"Gabite, use Dragon Claw followed by Double Team!" said Ursula. Gabite charges at Kingdra while its claws glowed light blue and several copies of Gabite appeared that also ran towards Kingdra.
"Kingdra, dodge with Agility followed by Smokescreen!" said Stella. Kingdra vanishes in a puff of smoke while one of the Gabite's tried to claw her, missing her, and lowering Gabite's accuracy while causing Urusla to lose points due to an attack missing.
"Where did Kingdra go?" asked Ursula while she and Gabite looked around.
"Now use Focus Energy followed by Dragon Breath!" said Stella. Kingdra reappears and becomes surrounded by a light blue aura before firing a light blue beam of energy from her mouth that hits Gabite, causing an explosion. When the smoke from the explosion cleared, Ursula looked and gasped when she saw Gabite on the stage floor with swirly eyes.
"Since Gabite is unable to battle, Kingdra is the winner." said Marian. "Which means the winner of the Celestic Town Pokemon Contest is Stella Zhau!"
"All right!" cheered Stella, raising her arms.
"Stella won!" said Lincoln.
"I'm glad she did." said Dawn.
"That was so rad!" said Sam. Everyone in the audience applauded Stella. Back in Royal Woods, the Louds and the Zhaus were cheering.
"Stella did it!" said Mr. Zhau.
"I knew she would." said Mrs. Zhau.
"Boy, that was intense for a contest battle." said Lynn Jr.
"I can't wait to be a coordinator." said Lola.
"I'd rather be a trainer." said Lana.
Back at the Celestic Town Contest Hall, Ursula glared at Stella before returning Gabite to its pokeball and storms away.
Moments later, Stella and Kingdra were standing in front of Raoul Contesta who was holdng out a small box that contained a white and blue ribbon; Stella takes it out of the box.
"Yes! I won the Celestic Ribbon!" said Stella, holding out the Celestic Ribbon towards the audience.
Moments later, at the lobby of the contest hall, Stella meets with the rest of the group.
"Congratulations, Stella." said Lincoln. Stella walks to him and kisses him on the lips.
"Thanks, Lincoln." said Stella.
"You were awesome." said Luna.
"Now you're just one ribbon away from competing in the Grand Festival." said Sam. Stella suddenly sees Ursula walking towards the contest hall entrance.
"Hey, Ursula." said Stella, getting Ursula's attention. "Good battle back there."
"Now you listen to me, Zhau." replied Ursula. "You may have beaten me in today's contest, but I will beat you next time, both you and Dawn; and if we meet in the Grand Festival, I won't be holding back."
"I wouldn't want you to." replied Stella. She and Dawn both looked at Ursula who looked at them back before walking out of the contest hall.
Stella has won her fourth ribbon. Where will the next Pokemon Contest take place? Wait and find out.
