Sometime has passed since the birth of the newest princess. There were so far no incidents happening, the only thing that had the royal family concerned at the moment was that Jashua has some memory loss after the attack.
Though deversated, Queen Eshe had hoped that her son wouldn't remember that awful day, she refused to have her cub be traumatized like she was.
The sun had risen over the beautiful plains of the kingdom. Prince and future king Jashua ran out of the cave along with her his younger sister, Princess Nala onto the edge of Pride Rock, and smiled happily at the beautiful day the sun had brought them.
"Wow!" they both cried at the same time. They smiled at each other, and made their way down the steps, before the siblings could reach the bottom the pale cream prince was suddenly plucked up from the ground by their mother, making Nala stop in her tracks.
"Where do you think your going in such a hurry?" Eshe asked picking Jashua up with her paw gently when he tried to escape over to his sister.
The lion guard has been keeping the peace and there hasn't been any signs of her cousin or his pride but she couldn't help but be cautious after going through what she did when those monsters attacked her son and killed a lion who was the closest thing to a father to her.
"Mommy! Let go!" Jashua giggled after Eshe placed him back on his paws.
Eshe smiled, but still looked a bit stern. "Now, I just want you to be careful." Jashua and Nala weren't paying attention anymore, too busy trying to catch a pretty butterfly, before Jashua fell on his pale stomach when his mother pressed her paw on his tail gently.
"Are you two listening? Accidents can happen."
Nala listened this time, while Jashua just looked bored. He had heard this speech a dozen times. While Nala understood her parents' rules when heading outside of Pride Rock, unfortunately her brother just had one thing in mind when it came to the outside world; Have fun.
"You could easily get hurt-"
"'Hurt, or stepped on, or even get lost'." Jashua copied.
Eshe sighed, but continued on. "And remember. I want you both to stay by Pride Rock at all times."
"'At all times', I know." he finished with his mother at the end, while Nala just nodded. "'And if I see any strangers, don't talk to them. Come straight home.' Okay, okay! Can we go now? PLEASE?" Jashua smiled innocently as Nala nodded with him, giving their signature smiles that they inherited from their parents.
The light brown lioness wasn't amused as she hummed, "Very funny, you two."
The Prince-Consort of the Pridelands made himself known when he sat down next to his mate and chuckled."Mind your mother, cubs." Mheetu smiled knowingly.
"Yes, dad." the royal siblings smiled at their father.
Eshe then gave one last warning, "And stay away from the Outlands." just as Arella flew over the queen's head and seated herself beside the cubs.
"Nothing there but a bunch of backstabbing, murderous, Outsiders." Arella gritted her yellow beak and sneered, as if these 'Outsiders' were right by their side.
"Arella is right." Eshe agreed, looking at the direction of the Outlands in disgust for a moment, before turning back to her cubs. "You can't turn your back on them." she told them. Nala nodded again but Jashua looked confused.
"Really? How come?" he asked innocently, but Eshe just shook her head. They weren't ready to hear the truth about the Outsiders, if she would ever be ready to tell them.
"Never mind. Just run along now." Eshe told them, but they both still wanted to know. But she wouldn't give it to them, "You'll understand someday." the siblings smiled, nuzzled their parents then ran off.
"And stay on the path I marked for you!" Eshe called out after them.
Mheetu chuckled, finding this rather funny.
Eshe looked at the tawny lion with a unamused expression. "What's so funny?"
"Love. Who do they remind you of, hmm?" Eshe frowned as she looked confused for second, before asking what he meant.
"They're just like you, when we were cubs." he told her, nuzzling the light brown lioness, but she didn't return it.
"Exactly! Don't you relies the dangers we put us in?" Eshe asked, looking in the cubs direction, before being pinned by a playfully insulted Mheetu.
"You mean the dangers 'you' put us in." he told her, and she chuckled, realizing her mistake as Mheetu nuzzled her and she purred as she nuzzled back. They pulled away and sat up, still smiling at one another.
"They'll be fine." with that, he walked away, making his way down the slope as Eshe stared after him, not that comforted by his words.
...
In The Pridelands
Jashua and Nala were still chasing the same butterfly from before, trying their best to catch it. Before it landed on a rock. Jashua smiled and knelt close to the ground, with the light beige princess following close behind.
"The mighty hunters have cornered their prey." Jashua whispered excitedly as Nala smiled with him, both growling playfully before pouncing, but only succeeded in hitting their heads together.
They rubbed their heads with their paws, before Jashua nudged his sister to look at what he was seeing.
Just beyond the ridge, was a barren sandy wasteland.
Nala frowned as her ears pinned and she looked cautious, but her brother just smiled in awe.
"Cool! The Outlands."
"This is bad, Jashua." Nala moved her teal eyes back to where they came from, only to see the peak of their home, "We've gone too far! We should really head back!" Nala stepped away from the rock and back to the path, but then noticed that her brother wasn't following. "Jashua! Come on!" she called to him, but he didn't seem to hear.
"I wonder what's out there?"
Nala groaned, mumbling something about pig headed. "Jashua, come on. Mommy said..."
Jashua rolled his orange eyes and looked at his sister. "Come on sis, mom says to stay away but didn't say why." the prince noticed that his sister was still hesitant. "Just this once?"
The light beige princess frowned before rolling her teal eyes. "Fine! But afterwards we go straight home."
Jashua nodded and smiled before the two royal cubs ran off and made their way for the Outlands.
~TLK~
Jashua was about to crossed a log when his black rimmed ears perked at the sound of a scream. Jashua shared a look with Nala before running off in the direction the scream came from.
"Jashua, wait!" Nala yelled before running after the older pale cream cub.
Jashua leapt through some grass to see a large whitish, light grey mane lion snarling over a pale beige cub. "Hey, l-leave that cub alone!"
The whitish lion tore his gold eyes from the growling and hissing cub to the intruder and snarled. "Run along before I make you my snack."
The pale beige cub snarled before bitting the lion on the rear causing him to growl in pain before trying to get the cub off his bottom.
"Hey! Leave him alone!"
Jashua pounced on the lion's ear. He sneered before striking the pale cream cub, which sent him soaring through the air. The pale beige cub took the opportunity to run while Nala ran after her brother. Jashua landed hard on the ground in a cloud of dust as his sister ran over.
"Jashua, are you okay?"
The prince sat up and placed a paw on his head. "I think so..."
A giggle caused the prince and princess to look and see a bit older brownish cub looking at them with bright purple eyes.
"That was brave but stupid. Who are you?"
Jashua shook his head to shake the dizziness before looking at Nala, who shrugged. He turned back to the brownish cub. "You don't know who I am?"
The female cub giggled. "No. But I'm just making sure you know who you are after taking a fall like that."
"Prince..." the female cub raised a black eye brow. "Prince Jashua."
The brownish cub smiled. "I'm glad you are all figured out. My name is Sherise by the way."
Nala rolled her teal eyes at her brother's dumbstruck expression before looking at Sherise. "I'm Nala, his sister."
"Well Sherise, wanna play with us?" Jashua asked as he bowed playfully. Sherise tilted her head and Jashua groaned frustrated. "Play? As in you run and I tag?"
Sherise just looked at the prince very confused before looking at Nala and back to Jashua with a frown.
"Well if you don't know how to play, then let's fight!" Nala growled playfully before getting in a fighting stand.
"Well alright..." Sherise smiled lightly following suit.
Just as Sherise let out a playful growl a massive light brown and pale paw came into the brownish cub's view and as a loud roar was heard.
Sherise quickly looked up for her purple eyes to widen in fear as she saw Jashua and Nala's mother, Queen Eshe.
Not a moment later a dark blur jumped from the tall grasses behind Sherise and roared in the queen's face.
"Eshe!" growled the blur that turned out to be an all too familiar dark brown, dark red mane lion.
"Chumvi!" Eshe growled back with bared teeth.
When Chumvi thought he could take advantage of the situation and attack the light brown lioness, Mheetu showed up with Timon and, Sãhasí and three other lionesses.
"Mheetu!" Chumvi snarled before he turned his orange eyes on the light brown prince. "Sãhasí!"
The queen's mate and brother just growled along with the lionesses with them.
"Timon, Pumbaa! Now that we all know each other... get out of our Pridelands!" yelled the pale brown meerkat.
"These lands belong to my father!" Chumvi roared in Timon and Pumbaa's faces.
Mheetu stepped up and blocked Chumvi's view of Timon and Pumbaa before the tawny, dark brown mane lion sneered. "We banished you from the Pridelands, so get your sister and get out!"
"Oh you remember my sister, Sherise?" Chumvi glared at the Pridelanders. "She was paw chosen by our father to follow in his paw prints- and become...a warrior in his name!"
Eshe growled at that as Timon laughed "Warrior? That's a fuzzy Maraca!"
Sãhasí chuckled at Timon's joke before returning his attention back to his sister and the lion who almost killed his nephew.
"Sherise..." Chumvi started as he began to walk around the frighten brownish cub. "Was one of the last born before you..." Chumvi stopped and gave Eshe a dark glance before continuing, "Exiled us to the Outlands..."
Sãhasí roared and got in the older lion's face with a snarl and rage in his orange eyes."You know why you were exiled!"
Chumvi chuckled before he smirked and finished with a dramaic stand, "Where there's little food and little water."
"You do the crime, you do the time! You don't get no pity from us, you disgraceful bastard!" growled one of the lionesses, Tala with disgust in her bluish eyes.
Chumvi looked over at the pale yellow lioness and growled at her. "You stay out of this!"
Eshe simply had enough and stepped up and glared at the dark brown lion. "You know the penalty for returning to the Pridelands!"
Chumvi glares at the light brown queen and says, "But my sister does not! However... If you need your pound of fresh-" the dark brown lion nudges Sherise toward Eshe, daring the older lioness to show either ruthlessness or cowardice.
Eshe looked from the shaking cub to the cub's brother and growled in disgust. "Chumvi, take her and get out. We are finished here." then Eshe moved to grab Jashua's scruff with her teeth as Sãhasí grabbed Nala.
Chumvi walks over and looks down at the terrified cubs. "Oh no, Eshe... We have barely begun." the dark brown lion sneered hatefully before he turns and picks up Sherise in his jaws.
"Bye..." Jashua and Nala whispered quietly.
"Bye..." Sherise whispered back before disappearing into the tall grass with her brother.
