In Chrysalis's old lair...
Ladybug felt the heat finally cool down as she held onto the fire blanket. She didn't know if she should look up or not. After a long minute of it being quiet, Ladybug finally took a peek. She noticed that the heat was gone as more cool air came up. As she stood up to check on her teammates, she noticed that they were still hiding in the shield. They seemed okay as Carapace finally took it down. He seemed a little tired, but wasn't burnt. He gave her thumbs up, letting herself relax.
"Thank goodness," Ladybug said to herself.
Her eyes widened and looked back at Ember. She was having a hard time standing as her eyes stopped glowing a golden color. Her hair had fallen out of her braid was now right down to her hips. Soon her knees gave in as Ladybug noticed her falling to the floor. Ladybug quickly ran over to her and grabbed her before she could fall.
"I've gotcha," Ladybug said to her, "Don't worry Ember. I won't let you fall."
Ember could keep her eyes open since she used so much energy from her heat quirk. Ladybug could tell that Ember wasn't doing so good from letting out her quirk like that. She wasn't use to it, but Ladybug knew that she could finally help her. Ladybug tried to help her up, but Viperion came over to help.
"Ladybug, are you okay?" Viperion asked her.
"Y-Yeah. Yeah, I'm okay," Ladybug said back, "But Ember needs help getting out of here."
"Of course. I'd be happy to help," Viperion said to them.
Ladybug helped Ember, but then noticed something wrong about what was going on. Something was missing, and she didn't know what. Then Ladybug witnessed gauntlets fall to the floor, catching her attention. She spotted Sebastien looking really hurt from that heat blast as he held his hand like it was hurt. She could've sworn that his face looked burnt around his eye, giving her chills.
Sebastien looked ready to bolt out of there.
"Ladybug... Ember... you'll regret messing with me..." Sebastien growled out.
Ladybug watched him leave and felt like she couldn't do anything to stop him. Her yo-yo was around her waist as she helped out Ember.
"Sebastien! Someone stop him!" Ladybug cried out.
Carapace, King Monkey and Pegasus ran after him, trying to capture Sebastien. Ladybug wanted to go after him, but she had to make sure that Ember was okay. She wanted to get her home safe and sound sooner rather than later. She gave Viperion some time to check on her as Ember was sat down onto the floor. She looked about ready to pass out at any moment.
"Ember. Are you okay? That's some quirk you've got there," Viperion asked her.
Ember was a bit hesitant to answer him since she didn't know him very well. Then she noticed Ladybug smile at him and then at her.
"Ember. It's okay," Ladybug said to her, "Viperion is a good friend of mine. You can trust him."
Ladybug could tell that Ember wasn't sure who to trust around. She couldn't blame her considering what just happened with Sebastien. She looked at Viperion and soon felt like she could relax.
"I-I'm... okay..." Ember told him, "J-Just... tired from my quirk... That's what happens when I use too much of my quirk at once... I get exhausted and can barely move..."
She almost fell over, but Ladybug helped her sit up.
"Don't worry. We've got you," Ladybug said back with a smile.
Ember looked at Ladybug, and Ladybug could tell that she appreciated it. Ladybug was glad that she came here when she did. Whatever Sebastien had planned, they finally found him. With Ladybug now knowing who's behind all of this, she wondered what to do next.
Before she could say anything, Carapace, King Monkey and Pegasus came running back into the old lair. They looked empty handed and upset, which told her everything that she needed to know.
"Sebastien got away, Ladybug," Carapace told her, "He's a tough one to catch up to. Somehow he got the better of us and escaped."
"Trust me, he was a tough one to capture," King Monkey said to her.
"He must've had some other gauntlets or inventions to help him get away much faster," Pegasus told them.
Ladybug noticed Pegasus looking at Ember, which made her flinch a little. She wondered herself what was going on with Ember, but had a feeling that she already knew the answer. She still needed to know the truth before they go any further.
"Ember. You had something to do with this, didn't you?" Pegasus asked her a little harshly, "Why are helping someone that works for Gabriel Agreste? Did you know that he was HawkMoth? The one person that we defeated a long time ago? That tried to take our Miraculous?"
Ember could barely look at them as Pegasus kept going at it. Ladybug felt bad for Ember, but also needed to understand how this even happened. She couldn't stand seeing Ember so distraught though after what just happened.
"Pegasus. Please, let me handle this," Ladybug told him, "Go recharge. You're going to need it."
Pegasus was a little annoyed with Ember and walked out of the old lair to recharge. Ladybug looked back at Ember, making her feel less tense about this situation. Ladybug wanted to get her out of here, but she still had to check a few things before they leave.
"Ember... What exactly is going on here?" Ladybug asked her, "I have a feeling that you know who Sebastien is."
Ember flinched, but didn't even want to get up or run off. She couldn't since she was too tired to do anything about it.
"You can tell us. We want to know what's going on so we can help you," Ladybug said to her.
Ember was hesitant to tell her with Viperion staying by her side. Ladybug could tell that she wasn't use to this many teammates around. Ladybug didn't want them to run off, she needed her teammates just in case she needed them for something.
Then Ladybug turned to her friend and placed her hand onto hers. Ember looked up, locking onto Ladybug's blue eyes.
"Ember. You can trust my team," Ladybug told her, "We need to know so we can help you. The more around, the better it is to get to the bottom of this. We want to be here so we can help you out. Whatever situation you are in, we want to help you get out of it. I want to find a way back home for you, and I'm going to do it. I promise."
Ember couldn't stop staring at her. Her smile got through to her as Ladybug waited for something to come of this. King Monkey, Carapace and even Pegasus soon came over to help Ladybug out. Ember got nervous, and Ladybug stayed right there with her.
"...W-When I first came to Paris, I was lost and confused..." Ember said to them, "...I-I couldn't figure out what happened or how to get home... At first, I thought that someone was playing a prank me. I didn't know that I was even in a different Paris at the time... Until I spotted Ladybug... I knew right then and there that something was off about this place... I started looking into what was going on by asking everyone around here... Soon enough, I stumbled into this old lair... I needed somewhere to stay and didn't have a lot of money... So... I stayed here..."
Ladybug looked at and could tell that there was more to come from this story. Ember took a deep breath in and out, preparing to tell the rest of it.
"...I-I... I found that machine... It had all of these files on some students from... U.A.? I didn't recognize all of them, but they were definitely from the Sports Festival from... what, a year ago?... A-Anyway... I was looking through the files and realized that they might've been here somehow... I don't know how... but the fact that they were sent here as well told me that I could get back home as well... T-Then..."
Ladybug noticed her trailing off and knew that she was going to mention Sebastien. Something about it just felt like he wasn't something that she should've talked to. It a minute for Ember to continue the story, but soon kept going.
"...Then I ran into Sebastien... H-He saw me leaving the old lair... Apparently he had been planning on some things with Gabriel. To make better inventions on the side instead of just fashion designs... At first, I-I didn't think anything of it... B-But... he offered me opportunities to find my way back home... H-He had known about this class of heroes in training and was interested in making something special... A-And... I-I... I..."
Pegasus seemed to put two and two together right away, getting frustrated with Ember.
"You sold this information to him, didn't you?!" Pegasus cried out, a little too loudly, "You knew what this was and yet you sold it all to that fashion designer?! For all we know, he could be helping Gabriel get stronger without the Miraculous!"
Ember flinched and was nervous to continue. Ladybug could tell that Ember was having a hard time with this as well and felt bad for her.
"Pegasus! Please, you're not helping anyone here," Ladybug said to him, "Let us handle it."
"B-But Ladybug! She--"
"That's enough!" Ladybug exclaimed a little louder than expected.
It got quiet so quickly that everyone a little on edge. Pegasus noticed Ladybug looking a little annoyed with him at the moment. He almost said something, but stopped and crossed his arms in a huff. Ladybug let out a sigh and went back to Ember. She looked nervous to be around all of them, but then noticed Ladybug's hand never left her side.
She smiled at Ember, ready to help her.
Ember kept going, but was still nervous about what to do next.
"I-I know that I shouldn't have sold any of that information... H-He lied to me and told me that he was working on some inventions to help others out... I-I didn't know anything about HawkMoth at the time except for his villain name... I didn't know anything about this Paris... Sebastien seemed to know that and knew how to get his way... I-I wouldn't have done if I known about what he'd do with this information... I'm sorry Ladybug... I just... I was just trying to get back home... To my mom, dad and friend... I miss them, and I still do..."
Ladybug could tell that she regretted helping him. Ember looked like she on the verge of tears and wiped them away. Ladybug didn't know where to go from here, but knew that she could do more for her than this guy. She could actually get her home, but worried about what this Sebastien guy knew.
"Ember... Did Sebastien mention anything about how he might send you home? Like, did he mention about whether or not he even knew about where they came from?" Ladybug asked her.
Ember thought about it for a moment, everyone now wondering the same thing.
"He told me that he knew a way. But now that I've met you, I can tell that he was lying to me," Ember said back, "He was just using me to get to that information. I know now that Sebastien didn't actually know anything about my... their Japan. He might be interested in it, but nothing big other than using it as inspiration for his inventions."
Ladybug was a little worried, but was glad that he wasn't anything like Chrysalis. She relaxed a little, finally knowing what was going on. It didn't really change much about how she looked at Ember. She was just in a weird situation and didn't know what to do. She couldn't blame her for trying to find a way back home. She would've probably done the same thing if she were her. Ladybug then looked at the machine, wondering if there was anything that she needed to check on before leaving.
"Thank you for telling me about this Ember," Ladybug said to her, "I needed to know about this. Now I can finally get you home soon. Don't trust Sebastien. I actually know Class 1--... 2-A. They are very good friends of mine, and we'll get you home as soon as I can."
Ember's golden eyes lit up, making Ladybug feel much more relieved to see her finally here with them. Ladybug stood up and walked over to the machine. Her eyes drifted up to see the old chains where Midoriya, Bakugo and Uraraka once got caught by Chrysalis and HawkMoth. She remembered that day really well. She still got chills just seeing them and what they did to her friends. Having Ember near it made her a little nervous but knew that it wouldn't do anything.
Viperion helped Ember up, and everyone else walked over to Ladybug.
"Ladybug? What're you doing?" Viperion asked her, "We shouldn't be messing with that thing. We don't know what else it could do."
Ladybug didn't hesitate, knowing that her friends back in Japan were counting on her to figure out what was going on. She tapped onto the machine, turning it on. Ladybug looked at it and went through some files. She found Class 2-A's files pretty quickly and looked through them once more. She didn't notice anything different other than what Alya told her. Skylar's information on her and picture was finally on there.
Ladybug was shocked to notice the resemblance between her and Skylar. She tried to shake it off and kept reading her information. Ladybug noticed that she was naturally strong, which was pretty impressive. What stumped her was the fact that it said she had no weaknesses. She had to have some sort of weakness, anything.
She knew though that there was nothing about her to worry about since Class 2-A and Alya were handling things. She hadn't heard from Alya in a while, which worried her. She would check in with her afterwards. Right now, she had keep looking. Ladybug scrolled through the others profiles, not noticing anything weird or suspicious.
For a moment, something caught her eye.
Ladybug stopped onto Midoriya's profile, noticing something different or off about it. Then her eyes drifted to a little change to the profile that made chills go up and down her back.
"What? B-But how is that even there?" Ladybug said more to herself.
"What is it Ladybug? Is something wrong?" Carapace asked her.
Ladybug checked again, confused as to what this could mean. She never talked to Alya about this, but she knew this wasn't there before. She knew for a fact that Midoriya's file was a little more secretive than the rest of them.
"It's Izuku's file. It's been... upgraded or changed. Someone must've hacked them," Ladybug told them.
Viperion and the others were shocked, and Pegasus soon ran over to help her. He looked down and noticed that something seemed off, but didn't know what.
"Ladybug. This just seems like his usual profile and quirk information," Pegasus said to her, "Are you sure about this?"
"Yes. His quirk... it's a secret. It's not something that U.A. wants everyone to know about," Ladybug explained to them, "It's always been hidden, but now... It's all written there as if someone knows about it."
Pegasus looked down, and his eyes widened in shock.
One for All.
He almost said it out loud, but he still didn't trust Ember. He kept it to himself, but knew that the others should know about it.
"What should we do Ladybug?" Viperion asked her.
Ladybug looked at everyone in the old lair. She couldn't leave now and go to Japan. Even though she wanted to help Ember, she had to get this stuff figured out first. She turned to the machine, looking through a bunch of files. Ladybug had to find anything else that may have been sent to this machine. Whether it was by accident or not, she had to see if there was anything else that was sent here.
Ladybug thought that there wasn't anything else that she could possibly find in there.
Then her eyes widened when she spotted something that wasn't there before. Something about it threw her off completely as she hesitated to press the file. Ladybug somehow got herself to press the button. Then a bunch of files came up of very familiar faces.
Her face went pale, as she realized that what was going on over in Japan was getting her friends and their Paris involved.
"Ladybug?"
She snapped out of it, feeling her heart racing after seeing specific files on her friends. Not just her, but everyone in her class and team. She skimmed through them, but at a rapid pace so you couldn't see what she was reading.
"Ladybug? What's wrong?" Viperion asked her, "Clearly something's wrong. Please tell me."
Ladybug tried to pushed passed a bunch of files, but Viperion got her to turn around and look at him. He let Ember lean on Carapace as he checked on Ladybug. She stopped and all she could do was stare at Viperion. He looked at the machine, and his eyes widened in shock. He looked just as pale as her as he walked up to it. He felt his hands shaking, seeing everyone on their team in this machine.
Everyone's files from Class 2-M were on here, including ones that weren't even there in Japan.
In the streets of Paris...
Ryuko ran across the buildings, feeling the wind blow through her hair. She felt like she had to pick up the pace a bit as she thought more about Ladybug. Practically everyone on the team was running across the buildings with her. Some of them she couldn't get a hold of for some reason. For a moment, she forgot that she wasn't alone. Mariposa ran beside her, looking at her with worry.
They didn't say anything for a while, but kept going. Ryuko knew that Ladybug was busy with something, she just didn't know what. Whatever it was, it had something to do with that machine and Chrysalis's old lair.
"Ryuko, slow down!" Polymouse cried out, "Most of us can't catch up!"
Ryuko slowed down, realizing that Ladybug's teammates were following her now. She didn't why, then again she did call them. So did Mariposa, though and no one was following her all that much. Ryuko didn't know what to do when they got there. If Ladybug was trouble, she needed to have a plan ready to help them.
Everyone soon caught up, wondering what to do next.
"What should we do Ryuko?" Pigella asked her, "Ladybug might be in danger."
Ryuko hesitated, but then noticed everyone on Ladybug's team looking at her. She held the Miracle Box, wondering if it was the right call to take it. Ryuko gripped her fists around it, worried that she might drop it.
"Why are all looking at me? I'm not your leader," Ryuko said to them, "If Cat Noir were here, you'd listening to him."
"Yeah, but he's not here," Mariposa told her, "Besides, you're really smart and know what you're doing most of the time."
"I'd say you're one of the best teammates we've ever had," Miss Hound said to her, "There's a reason why you were voted for Vice Class Rep."
Ryuko was shocked to hear them such things to her. Something about it made her feel really good about them looking towards her for guidance. Although she also wondered if Alya would've been doing anything different. She shook it off for now and focused on the mission.
"Let's just get there first and see what's going on," Ryuko told them, "I want to make sure that we don't rush there not knowing the situation."
They nodded, ready to go inside of the old lair.
