(Ayla's POV)
Today, all me, my brother Sonic, Tails, and Amy wanted to do was have a picnic. Just a nice simple, peaceful picnic by Never Lake to watch the return of Little Planet. But, of course, the universe had other plans*
And now, unspeakable horrors.
A giant black ship with a face & a red symbol on it appeared out of a hole in the sky over us. Amy immediately got out her hammer, I got out my Ring Blades, & Sonic finished his chili dog in one big bite*
Tails: What in the world is that!?
Amy: It certainly isn't Little Planet . . .
Sonic: Doesn't look like Dr. Eggman's style either. Think there's any chance they come in piece?
Just then, an army of creatures that looked half robot & half flesh came out of the hole in the sky. They immediately attacked us. I blocked an attack with my Ring Blades while Sonic dodged another one*
Ayla: Doesn't look like it, bro!
Sonic: No! Of course not!
Amy hit one of the creatures with her hammer*
Amy: Back off!
One of my creatures was about to attack her from behind, but my brother Spun Dashed it in the face before it could*
Sonic: Heads up, Amy!
Amy: Thanks for the save!
Tails came towards us with two creatures right behind him*
Tails: Amy! Ayla! Incoming!
Ayla: Go low, Tails!
I hit one with my Ring Blades & Amy hit one with her hammer. Meanwhile, more monsters came out of more holes that appeared in the sky*
Sonic: Doesn't look like they're stopping, and I don't see a way to shut off the tap . . . *he grabbed Tails & Amy's hands* So let's get some space for now!
I got on my hoverboard*
Ayla: Good idea!
Sonic zoomed away, holding on to Tails & Amy, with me following them on my hoverboard*
Tails: Those things were coming out of some kind of portal. It stands to reason of obe opened up here . . .
Amy: There's others elsewhere. We need to check on our friends!
Sonic: Hang in tight! We'll make this quick!
We were passing through Green Hills when I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my chest. Then I suddenly felt so dizzy, that I lost my balance on my board & fell off it with a hard "Thud!"*
Sonic, Tails, & Amy: Ayla!
Sonic immediately stopped running & they all gathered around me*
Sonic: Ayla, are you okay!? What happened!?
I slowly got up, panting as my heart was pounding like crazy*
Ayla: I . . . "pant" . . . I don't know. I suddenly felt a pain in chest. Like I was feeling someone else's pain.
Amy: How are you feeling? Can you go on?
Ayla: Yeah. I'm fine.
Tails: Are you sure? Maybe you should just go home and rest for a while.
Ayla: No way. I'm not sitting out of this. We're a team and we stick together, no matter what. Besides, I'm feeling better now. I can go on.
My brother & friends didn't look convinced, but didn't say anything*
Sonic: Alright. Let's go. Just don't push yourself too hard, okay?
Ayla: Okay.
I got back on my board & all four of us continued on our way. I could still feel a slight ache in my chest as we did*
Note #1: The moment she felt that pain was the moment the Master Emerald was destroyed. For those who have forgotten, Ayla was saved by the Master Emerald when she was a baby, so she shares a connection with it.
We had just arrived in Sunset City. There was a portal in the sky over the city with monsters coming out of it*
Amy: Sunset City is being swarmed!
Sonic: It's just going to be one of those days, huh?
Ayla: No different from all the times we dealt with Eggs-for-Brains.
Just then, Sonic dropped Amy & Tails*
Sonic: I'm going on ahead!
Ayla: Not without me you're not!
We both took off, kicking up dust*
Amy: Gak! Sonic! Ayla!
We zoomed across the bridge towards the city when a guy wearing a red jumpsuit with yellow lightning bolts on his chest & cowl*
Flash: Krakkl? What are you doing here?
Ayla: Who?
Sonic: You've got the wrong guy. Still, I like your hustle!
Flash: Sorry, guess you guys are some of the locals, huh? Hang back! I'll handle the Parademons.
Sonic: That's adorable. You can help out if you can keep up!
Flash: Listen, kid. I'm the Flash . . . *he suddenly got ahead of us* And I'm speed personified!
Then Sonic got ahead of him*
Sonic: Then I'm "speed" perfected!
The two of them then started down the road, going faster & faster as they tried to out-do each other. I sighed*
Ayla: Looks like I'm on my own for a while. Might as well take out a few of my own.
I made my way into the city, slicing any monster, which I now know are calledParademons. Suddenly, I heard a scream. I looked down & saw a group of kids being cornered by two Parademons. I immediately went down to help. I got in front of them as I sliced one of them in half. I was about to slice the other one when I suddenly felt that pain in my chest again, causing me to clutch the spot where it hurt. TheParademon raised it's claws to strike me, but
?*off-screen* You okay?
I looked up & saw a teenage human girl with shoulder-length blonde hair, blue eyes, & wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt with an S on her chest, a red cape, a red skirt, & red boots (look up "My Adventures with Supergir" by "AlexMontyArt" on "Deviantart") hovering over me a few feet in the air*
Ayla: Y - Yeah. Who are you?
Supergirl: I'm Supergirl. Those were some nice moves back there.
Ayla: Thanks. Not so bad yourself.
Batgirl: Thanks. Nice tech by the way.
I got out my Ring Blades*
Ayla: Custom made. Plasma that slice through metal.
Supergirl: Cool. Hey, what do say we go take down more of these goons?
Ayla: Sounds good to me.
I got on my hoverboard & she flew beside me*
Supergirl: Nice board.
Ayla: Thanks. Also custom made.
(Third-Person POV)
The kids all watched Ayla the Hedgehog & Batgirl fly away with sparkles of admiration in their eyes*
Kids: So cool . . .
Note #2: This Supergirl is from the Superman Animated Series.
(Ayla's POV)
Supergirl & I caught up with Amy & Tails. They were with Knuckles & a tall muscular human man with black hair & wearing an outfit similar to Supergirl's, only had had pants. What I heard next completely rocked my core*
Amy: Wait! What happened to Angel Island?
Knuckles: It fell into the ocean after the invaders blew up the Master Emerald.
I immediately jumped off my board & ran up to Knuckles*
Ayla: Did you just say . . . The Master Emerald . . . Is it really . . .?
Knuckles: Yeah. I would've been gone if not for him.
Superman: I'm sorry I couldn't do more.
I put a hand to my chest*
Ayla*in her mind* Then . . . Could this pain in my chest be . . .
Just then, Shadow appeared with a human man wearing a black hooded cape with horns on top, a gray jumpsuit with a black bat on his chest, a yellow belt, black gloves, & boots*
Batman: There's a lull in the invasion. We need to go over what more we can do.
Shadow: Start with explanations. Who are these monsters? Who are you?
Then Silver flew down with a human man with brown skin, green eyes, & wearing a green & black jumpsuit. Then Sonic appeared with Flash*
Sonic: Two-forty-eight!
Flash: Two-forty-nine! Too slow, blue!
Sonic: Hold on! I'm counting the Parademons I took down at Never Lake! *he turned to the new Superheroes* Oh hey, we're all here. Anyone care to bring us up to speed. Especially for Flash, since he's so slow.
Flash: If you were half as fast as your mouth, you'd -
Superman: We're the Justice League, heroes from another dimension. I'm Superman. Protector of truth , justice, and a better tomorrow. Joining me is Wonder Woman.
He motioned to a human woman with long black hair, blue eyes, & wearing a gold tiara, & red, gold, & blue armor*
Wonder Woman: A pleasure.
Superman: John Stewart of the Green Lantern Corps.
Green Lantern: Hi.
Superman: The Flash, the protector of Central City.
Flash: And fastest man alive!
Superman: Cyborg, who enabled us to reach your world.
He motioned to a teenage human man who was half human & half robot*
Cyborg: Sorry this isn't under better circumstances.
Superman: Batman, protector of Gotham City. And Supergirl, my cousin.
Supergirl: Nice to meet you.
Sonic: Cool. I'm Sonic the Hedgehog. The real fastest thing alive. Me and my friends aren't organized like you guys. We just take life as it comes and help anyone who needs it. Right here we have my little bro and resident genius, Tails.
Tails: Hi.
Sonic: My long-term bestie, Amy.
Amy: Thank you all your help!
Sonic: Knuckles, toughest guy I know.
Knuckles: You got that right.
Sonic: Silver, a hero from the future.
Silver: A pleasure to work with you!
Sonic: Shadow, who says he's the Ultimate Lifeform.
Shadow: Hmph.
Sonic: And this is my baby sister, Ayla.
Ayla: Really? Now?
He just gave me a smirk*
Knuckles: Enough with the pleasantries. Who's responsible for this. And when do we make him pay?
Cyborg made a holographic image of a big muscular guy with a square head appear*
Cyborg: His name is Darkseid. He's bad new, conquering worlds and looking for the anti-life equation.
Wonder Woman: We've stopped his ambitions in past. Now he's launched a mobile satellite called the Ragna Rock that can cross dimensions.
Supergirl: Our guess is he's looking for world's and powers outside the normal scope of our multiverse to continue his conquest.
Cyborg: To find your world, Darkseid had to cast a wide net. I have some of his tech integrated into my system, so I picked up on his search. We were able to make a Boom Tube of our own to try and intercept him before things got bad.
Silver: He's gotta be after the Chaos Emeralds!
Sonic: Always with the Emeralds . . .
Ayla: As if that's any surprise, bro.
Tails got in front of us*
Tails: They're mystic gemstones of unlimited power.
Green Lantern: With that kind of power he could fuel the Ragna Rock and destroy countless worlds.
Batman: Or bypass his search and manifest the anti-life equation directly.
Wonder Woman: Is there anyway to counter their power?
Knuckles: There was, butDarkseid blew it up.
Hearing that, I felt an ache in my chest again*
Superman: We know what he's after, and we know what's a stake. That's more than we had a minute ago. So let's use your insight to create a plan and -
Shadow: I don't have time for this.
He started to walk away*
Ayla: Shadow . . .
Superman: We'd value everyone's input . . .
Batman: I'll handle him. *he followed after Shadow & I followed him* Who was it?
Shadow stopped in his tracks & turned to him*
Shadow: What?
Batman: The one you couldn't protect. The one you watched die in front of you?
Shadow: How would you . . .
Batman: For me, it was my parents. I was too young , too weak to do anything. That pain, that anger, never leaves you. I see it in you, too.
Shadow: . . . Her name was Maria. She was gunned down by the military while trying to keep me safe. Me. The Ultimate Lifeform.
Batman: I swore I would never let it happen again. To protect the city my parents loved, to protect their world, I will use every advantage at my disposal. That includes the Justice League. You're a valuable asset in stopping Darkseid. Likewise, we'd be valuable to you.
Shadow was quiet for a minute, then he headed back to where the team was*
Shadow: I see. Hmph. You better be worth the trouble.
My heart pounded as I watched Batman convince Shadow to help us*
Ayla*in her mind* Wow. He's just as cool as Shadow is.
Tails: We have lots of experience tracking down the Chaos Emeralds, but not under such a tight deadline. I've been developing a tracking system in my lab.
Cyborg: And what kind of tech are you working with in there?
Tails: Well, it's a speculative quantum-mapping algorithm, but it isn't out of beta yet.
Cyborg: . . . Okay, hold up. This I have to see.
Sonic: No offense, partner, but we don't have time to wait while you work in the shop.
Silver: Darkseid's forces are hunting for the Emeralds now!
Wonder Woman: I agree. Let's begin searching while Cyborg and Tails work on the detector. The League can stay in touch with our usual comms.
Green Lantern: Pair up with the locals to focus the search. We'll cover more ground and do it more efficiently.
With that, we all split up into teams of two*
Later, I was on my board with Supergirl flying beside me as we searched for a Chaos Emerald together*
Ayla: So, your planet was the sister planet of Superman's planet until his planet was destroyed, causing your planet to be torn from it's orbit, which caused the whole planet to freeze. And to save your family, you all went into suspended animation, but you were the only survivor. And now you're technically older than Superman, but you're younger now because of suspended animation?
Supergirl: That pretty much sums it up.
Ayla: Wow. And I thought my childhood was rough.
Supergirl: From what you told me, this "" Eggman guy could complete with Lex Luthor. Man, I cannot say that name without cracking up.
Ayla: I know. I still don't know why he changed his name to that. Not that I care.
Supergirl: Probably because loves eggs so much he turned into one.
We both laughed at that*
Ayla: I think this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship, Supergirl.
Supergirl: Me too.
Note #3: To be honest, I had a little trouble deciding between Supergirl and Batgirl. But, in the end, I chose Supergirl because I realized that she relates more to Ayla.
