Chapter 3: "Hunting"
Jason soon landed on the street after Cross had injected him in the back. Soldiers were firing on him, so he tried to use his claws or shield, but nothing changed, his limbs remained the same.
'Whatever that asshole did to me, I can't transform', Jason notes. Seeing no other choice but to run, he did. Thankfully, it looks like is physical capabilities are still useful as he was wasn't slowed to his peak human speed. he then tested his strength out and picked up a car, launching it at his assaulter before running. he got out of eye sight and tried a disguise, which also still worked.
Once he was alone, he began to truly test for the other abilities, sadly everything except his traversal, physical, and disguises didn't work. Gone were his Claws, his Hammerfit, his Whipfist, his Musclemass, his Shield, and his Thermal Vision. Maybe even his Devastators, but he didn't want to test for that.
Wondering around, he came across PFC Tyrone Steuben and consumed him in a red zone. His memories showed Jason how a group of Blackwatch burned something to the ground with people in it with one woman running out on fire and they shot her down, all while laughing.
He also found Lt Charles Sanders. His memories talked about the Redline which was the imaginary quarantine line around the island, along with the fact that they've apparently been preparing for this for 40 years.
Then he consumed Micheal Hamlin. His memories should how Washington had no control over the outbreak, it was all under Blackwatch.
'Need to get to Dana', Jason thought. The pain from whatever was injected into him was enough to make him almost perpetually hunched. He couldn't afford to waste any time.
Dana's Safehouse
"Man, you look like shit", Dana says when she sees the state Jason is in, "but this might help".
"McMullen?", Jason inquired, looking to the computer only to see someone else on screen.
"No", Dana replies, "But they're watching someone for him, Ok. It's this doctor named Bradley Ragland", pointing a middle aged black man that wore glasses in a photo.
"Where is he?", Jason growls.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Easy. He's a good guy", Dana calms him, "Find him and he helps us get to McMullen. He's uptown at St. Paul's hospital. he runs the morgue there.".
Jason goes to leave but Dana stops, "Hold up, there's more.", Jason came back to her side, "Alright, so I did some research on, uh, Hope, Idaho. It was an army town. On July 21st, 1979, it vanishes from the map...", she brings up files on this for Jason to see, "The official word was that it was an anti-government gun-nut stand-off. Some militia killed a bunch of people and the Feds killed the militia. Now, there was only one survivor", she then pulled up an old picture, "Notice the girl, second from the left?"
"Elizabeth Greene", Jason states, he already knew some of this from the memories.
"Looks an awful lot like a college student these days", Dana remarks, "Not bad for 55 years old.
'Wonder Woman and the Martians are older', Jason thinks before telling Dana, "Hope, Idaho was an experiment".
"How could you possibly know that?", Dana asks him, calmly standing up.
Hesitantly, Jason answers, "I can... absorb people I kill into me, gaining their memories, see what they've done".
"What the fuck are talking about?", Dana asks of him, confused.
"It's instinctual. But with it, I can find things that others can't. Like I knew Karen wasn't on our side", Jason replies.
"Find Ragland... and ask him about McMullen", Dana tells him. Jason then leaves without another word while Dana processes how horrifying his powers actually are.
Outside, west of Time Square
Once he left through the roof access, he collapses in pain. 'My back... it feels like it's eating me', Jason thinks as he screamed in pain. A glowing pink mound burst out his back where he was injected, sticking out his jacket. He couldn't waste time, he needed to get to Ragland.
Well, he might have taken the time to consume one Web of Intrigue target, Dr. Shane Ivey. The memories showed how they took DNA samples from Greene, how they were going to develop other things from it, maybe attack cancer.
Otherwise, Jason headed straight for Ragland's hospital in the Upper East Side, near the coast.
Dr. Ragland's Morgue - St. Paul's Hospital
"Dr. Ragland", Jason greets as the man in question was overlooking a corpse.
Ragland looked to Jason before continuing his work, "i've already said I won't deal with you people. My medical opinion is not for sale.", He obviously thought Jason was with someone else.
"I'm impressed", Jason comments at his resolve, not many people he's met wouldn't take the money.
Figuring he wouldn't leave, "What do you want exactly?", Ragland demands of Jason.
"Your help stopping the virus", Jason replies.
"Why?", Ragland asks with doubt. Jason then walks around the medical slab, with Ragland spotting the pink growth in his back, horrifying him. Jason then pushed that black and red aura over his body for a second to show he had the virus.
"You could say I'm symptomatic", Jason tells him, "Their are three sides in this; Blackwatch, the infected, and me. So pick a side".
"I'll tell you what I know", Ragland gathers his resolve, "but first we need to find where the military has patient zero".
Outside, Upper East Side
Jason exits the hospital, 'Okay, the bodies from the first outbreak are the key. Blackwatch spectres took them. Find the specters, find the bodie, and maybe I can find some answers.'
Jason heads to Midtown East to see if he can find anything. He does find some troop deployments, maybe if he consumes the right soldiers, he can get some needed info.
He immediately consumed 1st LT Steven Yarish, having snuck into his tank. His memories showed they've secured the Penn Station bodies and to rendezvous at Gentek.
Jason left the area for the Gentek building. Where they were fighting a fucking Hive just across the street.
'How do you draw the attention of an officer? Destroy their shit', Jason thinks before going about destroying the tank, with a tank since he couldn't use his full powerset. Cptn Lim sent in more tanks for Jason to deal with. The more tanks he destroyed, the more Cptn Lim sent in. it was a war zone outside of Gentek as Jason butchers the tanks along with any Strike team called in. Eventually, the Blackwatch specter commander revealed himself.
"Fucking finally", Jason growls out before hijacking the tank and consuming Cptn Eric Lim. His memories showed that McMullen had originally given the bodies to Ragland but the General ordered the bodies moved to Base AE-One.
Day 8 of Infection: 46% Total Population Infected
Jason made his way back to Ragland, as he believes that he may be the only one who can cure him, of the parasite at least.
Morgue, St. Paul Hospital
Jason violently stumbles into the morgue coughing a fit, "Oh god!", as he the stumbled to the sink and mirror to try and check his condition, "Ragland! RAGLAND!", Jason called for help before passing out.
Ragland soon came back to find Jason on the floor and helped him up to a seat on a chair, where he began examining the now reddish protrusion on has back.
"What's happening to me?", Jason asked the doctor.
"They know you carry the infection. They may be using you to produce an Antivirus.", Ragland explains as he continues to study the lump, "If we learn what it's doing, maybe I can find a way to help your biology reject it".
This drew Jason's attention, "How?"
"Cut off it's food supply", Ragland informs.
Outside, Upper East Side
Jason soon leaves the hospital and begin to plan, 'If I'm going to get Ragland to these bodies, I'm going to need some armor", and begins looking for a tank or APC.
Lucky for him, there was one just nearby. He took a military appearance and hijacked it without a commotion. He then carefully drove it back to the hospital to give Ragland a lift.
Jason pulls up to the sealed ambulance only entrance whee agland soon joined him in the tank.
"The Penn Station bodies are in a base in Harlem", Jason shares with Ragland, "let's get a move on".
"If you can get me a couple minutes with those corpses. i think I can get what you need", Ragland informs him.
Jason drives the tank to the base housing the bodies. The base was now in the middle of a red zone, left abandoned.
"looks like someone got here before us, Doc", Jason remarks as they arrive at the base in north East Harlem. jason parks the tank within the base fence and the duo went inside.
It wasn't long into Ragland's examination of the bodies before they heard the howls of the infected.
"What is it?", Ragland asks Jason from the sealed lab.
"Just ignore it. I'll deal with it", Jason tells him. He might not be able to use his powers, but here was plenty of weapons left behind in this base for him.
"This won't take long just give me some time", Ragland says as he works.
Jason fly kick the sole approaching infected. Soon after more tarted to appear.
"They're coming!", Jason warns Ragland as he grabs a Assault Rifle and fires it to the group of infected. Most came from the opening on the far side of the base, away from the lab, while others dropped down from the ceiling.
Jason dealt with these small fries before a hunter appeared, "Hurry, Ragland!". Jason grabbed a Rocket launcher and fired on the hunter, killing it. He then dealt with more of the basic and evolved infected.
"Ragland! Move! We got to go!", Jason cals out as more hunters appear, grabbing a grenade launcher to deal with them and the surrounding evolved.
"Move your ass!", Jason calls as more Hunters and evolved appear. Ragland was down to the final minute of his work as Jason grabbed another Rocket Launcher for these bastards. he one shot the Hunters and dealt with the humanoids.
"Okay, I'm done", Ragland calls out to Jason, "Let's get out of here." Jason kills any remaining infected before the ground begins to shake. Then a giant spiked tentacle of some kind spawns out from the ground.
"Well, that's not good", Jason comments, Him and Ragland ignored whatever the fuck it is and ran outside, getting in the tank to get back to the morgue.
Jason drove Ragland to the morgue as more of those things spawned from the road, even outside of the red zone. They stopped appearing once they made it back to St. John's entrance.
"That was... interesting", Ragland remarks, "I have to gt this under a scope -- come back in a few hours and I'll have an analysis for you.", and he heads back into the hospital.
Jason spent the time looking for more Web Targets. First he consumes 1st Sgt Thomas Rickard. His memories talked about the lockdown order and how General Randall was in charge.
Next was 1st Lt Bruno Tapia, his memories showed how the strain couldn't cross water bodies and could be fought, trapped on the island.
And then, was Cptn Raymond Basiti. His memories shared what Blackwatch and the military knew about Jason, which was only some of his abilities, which was still to much for Jason's liking.
After all that, Jason headed back to Ragland for an update.
Morgue, St. Paul's
Jason arrives to see Ragland inspecting a syringe.
"We need a host the parasite can infest. This host will produce antibodies", Ragland explains, "These antibodies are vital for your restoration, Jason. Take this syringe,locate the correct hunter by genetic type, and inject it. If you inject it, then consume it, it should cure you", Ragland then hands the syringe off to Jason.
"Yeah, I've heard that before", Jason state, referring to Karen.
Outside, Upper East Side
Jason then leaves to find the appropriate Hunter.
'This chopper has a DNA sensory array.', Jason notes overlooking a helicopter in Midtown East, 'I can reconfigure it to find the hunter I need'. He doesn't know how to fly this brand, so he needs to find and consume the pilot.
Jason stealthy consumes cptn Marcus Graves and now can fly the copter. He then boarded the helicopter as the pilot. He gave some military speak to excuse his usage of the copter to Red Crown as to not draw their attention.
He flew south to some Viral Detectors and destroyed them to test the weapons systems, making sure he got them right.
"Alright, I can fly this thing like an actual licensed pilot", Jason tells himself before heading further south to the most infected parts of the city for a suitable Hunter for the injection.
In the red zones, Jason flew by water towers to check for the hunters. He paid attention to the scanners for the Infected Water tower he needed, coming to a stop between the Lower East Side and Chinatown. he scanned the water tower and confirmed that was his target before the Hunter burst out of it and ran.
'Bingo. Now I need to stun it so I can inject it easier.', Jason thought, he left the helicopter since the weapons would kill. He was going to fight it like he trained with Batman and the League of Shadows.
He did some punch and kick combos while diving away as to not get clawed. Before long, the Hunter was stunned, allowing Jason to inject it.
'Man, I hope this works', Jason thought to himself. He now had to wait for the antibodies to be produced, however the beast began to run away. Jason gave chase, keeping it within eyesight, he couldn't afford to lose it.
"Now", Jason says to himself as he closes in on the Hunter and consumes it.
Soon after, his back was itself once more, the protrusion now gone. Suddenly, he was swarmed by the infected, piling on top of him before he forced them off, leaving them a bloody mess.
This revealed his new armored appearance, a new defensive power like his Shield, looking like a Black Knight from hell (Hellers armor).
Soon after, he then evolved to unlock a new offensive powers, unleashing a massive blade form his right arm.
"I'm Back", Jason states as his power return to full strength.
Jason soon learned the armor protected him more than his shield from all directions but hampers his speed and jumping while deactivating his other traversal abilities.
His Blade might be his most powerful weapon with its cutting and thrusting attacks. Like the Whipfist, he can only change one arm into it for now.
He then began to evolve, since he couldn't with the parasite on his back. His speed and jumping reached the highest they could go for now. His Critical Mass and vitality were boosted.
Jason then began to do events again, since he was focused on curing himself of the parasite.
During this, he consumed Travis Morgan. His memories showed what they did to convince Karen Parker to work with them.
He also consumed Pvt Damien Loshek. His memories showed that they were loading tanks with some kind of red stuff that they were going to spray the city with along with everyone in it. 'What the fuck is that shit?', Jason thought.
Jason then found Cptn Curtis Blum. Whose memories revealed things about Captain Cross and the Wiseman team, along with another infected being killed referred to as a runner.
After this, he decided to head back to Dana, he's been away to long for comfort.
Dana's Safehouse
Once inside, he and Dana just stood around awkwardly before Dana broke the silence.
"so, um... what did Ragland have to say?", she asks of him.
"Dana... I'm sorry", Jason states, "I know isn't the most pretty of situations. And I've been working you ragged since we've emt, despite the loss of your brother. And the virus he worked on along with what it has done to me and New York... Who knows what your going through."
Dana waves him off, "It's alright, Jason. It's fine. Whatever he did, he's still my brother. And it's my job to complete the job he started and help take out those behind this."
Suddenly, Jason felt as though something was wrong, looking away into the distance.
"What is it?", Dana asks.
"shh, hold on a second", Jason instructs.
Suddenly a wall burst out and Hunter appears before them, not just any Hunter but a Leader Hunter. Dana scream in horror, with the creature grabbing ahold of her. It roars at Jason before jumping out into the city with Dana in tow.
"Dana! Oh No the Fuck you don't!", Jason yells before chasing after it, "Get Back Here!".
"JASON!!!", Dana screams for him as the hunter jumps away with Jason in hot pursuit.
It went north, with Dana yelling for help or to let her go. Jason heart nearly broke as she cried about how scared she was as they ran through Central Park. But no matter how hard he tried, the beast always remained ahead of him.
It then travels throughout Harlem before heading south, then into the Upper West Side. Some Blackwatch copters started firing on the Lead Hunter, Jason destroyed them so they wouldn't harm Dana in the crossfire.
They then made it to Midtown west.
"Jason! Help Me!", Dana cried from the Leader's grasp.
"Dana!", Jason yells as he nears them only for the leader to stop. It would then roar out as more Hunters then appear in the area.
With other Hunters, Jason notice differences as it was bigger and had grey-brown skin compared to the others reddish skin.
They began attacking Jason, who used his Blade to defend himself. he dealt with the six Hunters before continuing his pursuit of the Leader.
They got to a construction sight, where Blackwatch unleashed a small artillery strike on him, allowing the Leader to escape with Dana.
"Dana! No!", Jason calls out but it was futile. 'Greene, I don't know why you took her, but I WILL get her back'.
Day 10 of Infection: 68% Total Population Infected
Jason spent time consuming infected to see if he get a whiff of Greene and anything else before he raged
Jason had consumed Robert Arrington, revealing the some details about the bodies being sent to Ragland for some reason.
He also consumes Colin Noppers, whose memories showed something involving the USS Reagan with jets.
Along with 1st Sgt MarkAhughton, his memories shows an argument between General Randal and McMullen along with Jason being the only male runner produced. 'Runner must be what they call those Greene and myself. Who don't turn into monsters like other infected', Jason thought at the info.
Consuming PFC Arthur Coleman reveals a memory of Cross and McMullen talking about how alike Jason and Greene are compared to them.
While hunting, he consumes MSgt Matthew Cobb, who reveals that Blackwatch had the Marines involved as shock troops to suffer loss men over themselves, along with having them take the fall for when the city burns. 'whatever that may mean', Jason notes.
He stops at some military bases to increase his skill set. Jason can now fly copters better, operate missile launchers better, and call multiple Artillery Strikes in a row. Another base offered him further helicopter control, Machine gun effectiveness, and Artillery Strikes launch more rounds and cover a bigger area.
Artillery strikes can now completely destroy Hives, unlike before.
He also consumed Dr Craig Wright, showing Jason more info about Hope, Idaho was a cross-section without the subjects knowing they were taking part in a test. And then Jason consumes 1st Sgt Carl Achuleta, showing something about Karen Parker entering Gentek without permission.
Jason also consumes Brian Zermeno. The memories talked about CARNIVAL I and CARNIVAL II in Hope, Idaho.
Consuming Dr Jeffrey Campbell showed how he worked on viruses, that could be classified as Biological Weaponry, for someone that felt higher then the president.
Dr Malcolm Fraser's consumption revealed how the red stuff they were bringing in wouldn't do anything to people, along with a mention to Agent Orange.
His Whipfist could now do a Longshot grab, allowing to grab things or enemies form a great distance. this came in handy with skyjacking helicopters. He also upgraded his regeneration capabilities. Jason also unlocked a Critical Pain Devastator. he thrust his hands forward and unleashes a torrent of viral tendons before him, inflicting untold damage to those in its line of fire. He can also make himself a living cannonball from an aerial attack.
Tired of getting nowhere with finding Dana, Jason met up with Ragland.
Morgue, St. Paul's Hospital
"I need to find the Hunter that took Dana", Jason says to Ragland near a whiteboard dissecting the Hunters.
"This Hunter you're looking for seems to be a variant of the species", Ragland notes, "It fulfills a Leader role. The other Hunters take cues from it. If you can find a consume a Leader; it may give you indications on where the focus of the virus is.".
"My only concern right now is Dana", Jason supplies, "That can come later", before leaving the morgue.
Outside, Upper East Side
'Leader Hunters', Jason thinks on the Leaders, 'I know the one that took Dana. If I can find him, then I can consume, then I find her'
He then headed south towards Midtown East. Just before then, a Leader appears near him and unleashes a roar. Jason took on his Armor and brought out his Hammerfist before jumping off the roof and using a Hammerfist Elbow drop on the Leader before using his Blade to slice at it.
Once it was stunned, Jason went to consume it, however he couldn't for some reason. It just threw him off of it after the attempt.
"somethings wrong! Why can't I break him like the others?', Jason thinks to himself while the leader ran away, 'This isn't working. Maybe Ragland can tell me what's different about the Leaders that make it so I can't consume them'.
Jason heads further south, the middle of Midtown East, for the Leaders Hive. to trap a Leader for Ragland to study.
Once there, a Leader appears and sent his guarding Hunters to attack Jason. Jason used his Whipfist to do wide spread attacks against them, grabbing them for consumption to regenerate. Once he dealt with the guards, he had the Leaders attention.
'Need to lead it someplace for Ragland to study it. The Patient Zero base?', Jason thought of a plan as he dismissed his armor and then lead the Leader on a goose chase, occasionally attacking it to keep its focus on Jason as Blackwatch were also attacking it. Other Hunters showing up certainly weren't a help as he lead the Leader to the base. Eventually, he traps it in the abandoned base.
"It's just you and me now!", Jason tells it. The enclosed space not allowing the Leader to call for other Hunters. Since he couldn't consume it, he would focus on just killing the Leader. Donning his Armor once more along with his Blade. He began slicing and thrusting until the Leader fell over seemingly dead but was actually subdued.
"You just stay right there, ya bastard", Jason says, glad this was over for now, "Now I need to get Ragland to study you".
Later, on his way to meet with Ragland, Jason consumes Pvt Timothy Longoria, 1st Lt Daniel Eckhart, and Dr. Edgar Ruiz. Longoria's memories showed talks of burning everything until the infection is gone, noe matter the location. Eckhart's memories was him bragging about a plane he shot down while they seemed to beg for his mercy. Ruiz's memories talk about the outbreak having low fatality and long incubation periods, which was not what they planned for.
Morgue, St Paul's Hospital
Jason arrives at the morgue to meet with Ragland, who has already studied the Leader.
"The Leader Hunter I've examined is only resistant to your assimilation abilities", Ragland informs him, "You need to weaken it first. It has two brains and two spinal columns. Break both backs and it enters a recovery state. During this time, it's vulnerable for your consumption.", He then takes a moment, "Strange... Its almost like an adaptation to your methods."
'Question is, was it naturally done or forced upon them by Greene', Jason thinks to himself.
"Use the Leader we have captured; subdue and consume it. Then, find and consume the one that took Dana. it should reveal her location", Ragland tells him, with Jason nodding to him before leaving.
Abandoned Base, East Harlem
Jason immediately went to the base to subdue and consume the captured Leader Hunter, Donning his armor as he entered. He saw that the Leader was getting back on its feet from the last fight, this time it will end with his consumption.
This time, Jason quickly dealt with it, before breaking it's neck in two places and consuming the beast. Unlike other infected, Jason had received visions from this, from Greene in a Hive Mind.
Coming back to is senses, Jason sees that he has a new ability, Infected Vision. This allows him those infected from normal people, even those that are infected but no one else knows it. Like one of the soldiers that just arrived.
Consuming the soldier in question as the others shot at him, Jason wasn't subjected to the man's own memories, but instead connected more to the Hive Mind. This could lead him to the Leader Hunter that took Dana. He needs to quickly consume more infected to keep the connection.
'Greene seems to be infiltrating the military, consuming infected men from their bases may give me what I need', Jason thought as he left the abandoned base for a close active one.
Once he arrives outside the base in the Upper East Side, next to Central Park, Jason could see infected soldiers sporadically placed around the area, blending in.
He went around the base, stealthy consuming the infected carriers, as he doesn't need to get attack or lose any of his targets. The connection to the Hive Mind being enhanced with each one. However, the Hive Mind was straining on Jason.
'So many minds at work. All talking, all dying', Jason groans to himself. once he was done, he knew the Leader's location, the one that took Dana.
Infected Vision also fully matured, allowing Jason to separate the Infected from the rest of the world, decreasing the chance of civilian casualties in infected swarms. Infected Vision made the world red in Jason's eyes, with the infected being colored orangish-yellow, while Jason himself was almost pure white.
Jason then headed for the Dana's leader's location in the Upper West Side, passing by a massively infected building at the university on the way.
Once he was nearly there, 'I can feel it, I'm close to the one that took Dana'. He got to the roof it was on to see that it has mutated, being bigger and pinker, with a second mouth on the back of its head.
He took on his Armored appearance and wielded his Blade to quickly lower its health and then consumed the bastard, thankfully it went the same as the other leaders.
Jason experience more visions from the Hive Mind before he was able to decipher Dana's location.
Coming to, Jason looked to the Infected University Building he noticed earlier, 'Dana. She's in there.'.
Military forces had arrived on the scene and were firing at the building but it did nothing to it. he overheard on the radio on how they couldn't pierce it, but they were going to send in heavier artillery.
'If Blackwatch has hardware that can crack this hive apart, I can use it to reach Dana', Jason thinks on what to do now.
On his way to scoop out the area for the weaponry, Jason consumes Dr.Kyle Flynn along with 2nd Lt James Martinez. Flynn's memories talked about tracking a Runner, how most infected are Walkers, but Runners can think, like himself and Greene. Martinez's memories talked about the rules of engagement when encountering Jason.
Jason soon arrived at the location as a squadron of tanks were escort a more unique tank, A Thermobaric Tank. This could be used on the Core Hive to get Jason inside and to Dana. The infected seem to know this as well when Hunters attacked the military transport from above.
'That tank is the only way into Greene's Hive, the only way I'm going to get Dana back', Jason thinks, 'I need to make sure it gets there in one piece'.
Jason took a military form and hijacked one of the other tanks to guard the Thermobaric Tank from the infected without the military targeting him also. They traveled to another hardened Hive around the north west of Central Park, where the Thermobaric Tank one-shot the Hive.
'Holy Shit', Jason is surprised by the destruction, 'I want to fire that bitch!'. He also didn't want to be hit by that bitch.
Jason and the tank then traversed to the Hive in West Harlem, with Jason protecting it from his tank.
However, the Thermobaric tank couldn't aim at the Hive once they reached, what with all of the infected and Hunters running around. So Jason got to work eliminating them. once the Hunters were gone, a Leader arrives, Jason killed the same ay, with the tank shells.
Once they were down, the Thermobaric Tank closed in and one-shot another Hive.
They then headed for the third Hive to destroy before they can head for the Core Hive. This one was in the Upper West Side. Honestly, Jason was seriously considering just hijacking the Thermobaric, but they were almost done.
Again, Jason had to clear out some infected before the T-Tank could fire on the Hive. He killed all the Hunter as quickly as possible with his basic bitch tank before the T-tank came in to once more one-shot a Hive.
However, one of the damn tentacles sprouted from the ground, A Hydra. It damaged the Thermobaric, killing the driver inside.
"Dammit", Jason sounds, 'looks like I'll be driving it after all. Under orders though.' He leaves his tank and enters the T-tank. He then tested the Thermobaric on the Hive.
'Aw Yeah. I'm coming for you Dana', Jason thinks as he now heads for the Core Hive. Around this time, the military notice that he was the one in control of the Thermobaric Tank and ordered to eliminate him.
Jason quickly arrived at the university courtyard with the T-tank, despite the infected and military's attacks on him. He then fired at the front of the Core Hive, breaching it.
'I'm in!,' Jason thinks before leaving the tank and heading inside to get Dana.
In The Core Hive
Jason jumped onto a bridge platform, looking around for Dana.
Greene soon appears on an adjacent bridge platform to his left, continuing with her swaying walk.
"Where is she?", Jason growls at Greene.
"She's with us now", Greene answers in her echo speech.
'Hopefully she's not infected', Jason then asks, "What the hell are you? And don't say my Mother".
"The reason", she answers him, being cryptic.
'Not much beetter', "For What?!", Jason demands as he pulls out a syringe housing the parasite that one feasted on him.
"Everything", she responds with a smile.
The duo leap at each other and collided in the air spinning as they fell before Greene got on top and leaped while also pushing Jason to the ground. She hanged on the platform as second before dcing at Jason, sending them sliding back for a second, only for Jason to inject her right in the neck.
"You HURT me", she groans out as juices fall from her mouth onto Jason, disgusting. She then stand up with a scream and backs away as she held her neck. Jason gets to his feat while she fell to her hands and knees as she vomited something up.
This Vomit then began to grow into something, a bipedal creature. It was pink in color, it had a blackened right arm and a bladed left hand and looked the most monstrous of her creations, by far. She scurried away as Jason was left to fight this... Supreme Hunter.
"I don't know what you are, but you're in my way and I'm going to kill you", Jason tells it.
Jason dons his Armor and unleashes a Critical Pain Devastator on it. But it was still coming for him, so Jason summons his Blade and cuts at the Supreme Hunter. This causes it to summon some Walkers, Hunters, and Hydra.
'Shit! I need to finish this big fucker', Jason thinks before switching to the claws and using a ground spike. The fucker then copied him and used a groundspike on Jason.
Soon after, Blackwatch invaded the battle with tanks and foot soldiers.
'About time', Jason comments at their late arrival. Jason quickly hijacked the tank and opened fire on the Supreme Hunter. Eventually, he left it stunned and he closed in on it on foot.
It got back up before he could consume it or anything else, so Jason switch to his Hammerfists and started to do repetitive Elbow Drops on it. He also grabbed a missile launcher but they did jack shit against it.
"Fuck this!" Jason shouts before consuming what ever he could to build up to Critical Mass so he could use a devastator. He then targeted the Supreme Hunter and used the Critical Pain on it again, this time finishing it.
It collapses into a puddle as Jason ditches the armor and looks for Dana, noticing her laying form off to the side of the area.
"Hey, hey. Dana!", he calls as he runs over to her. He picks up her unconscious form and runs out of the area for Ragland, stepping into a puddle of go as he leaves the Hive. Not noticing a had reforming from the puddle.
Morgue, St Paul's Hospital
Jason barges into the morgue and sets Dana onto one of the slabs.
"What happened?!", Ragland asks him noting Dana's state of being he then looks her over, "Sh- she's unresponsive, but stable...", before telling Jason, "We've got other problems", he then grabs a map with circled locations and shows it to Jason, "It just... turned up", handing it to Jason, "Well, what now?".
"Looks like I got plans for tonight.", Jason reponds, "And you, just do what you can for her."
In the City
Jason was more calm now that Dana was safe with Ragland. so he was going to hunt for more Web Targets and complete events for now.
After the battle with the Supreme Hunter, Jason came up with new power moves or unlocked new abilities. Blade got Air Slice, a drop down cutting attack. Hammerfists got Hammertoss, a self-throw to put all his wight into an attack, it could also be used as a traversal, though it would severely damage where he lands. Jason also got the Bulletdive Drop, basically dashing straight down for a maximum-impact slash effect.
He consumed PFC Daniel Hall, 1st Sgt John Mcgraw, Cptn David Spearman, SSgt Marlon Contreras, 1st Lt Darren Alpaugh, Jonas Philips, and Dennis Rickhardt. Hall's mind showed that the dead would be placed on barges once full, the barges would be burned, they believed they would need thousands of barges. McGraw's memories showed Randall talking about anomalies from Hope and McMullen requesting for PARIAH, which was denied. 'What's PARIAH', Jason thought. Spearman's mind was on file Firebreak, with wonders if it would be necessary. Contreras' thoughts were on Blackwatch dragging people from there homes into holding pen they had set up. Alpaugh's memories talked about predicted Marine casualties. Phillips' memories about a virus showing no systems until some births took place. Rickhardt's memories showed something about a weapon General Randall wants in the field along with a Harlem Facility.
After that, Jason then made his way for the marked spot west of Chinatown. He arrives to hear a disposable cellphone ringing from an old payphone. He answers.
"Red Hood", a electronic disguised voice says through the phone
"Who is this?", Jason asks over the phone.
"Not important", the voice retorts, "What I know, you want to hear. Forty year sago, Blackwatch moved into Hope, Idaho, to begin Project: Red Light. They'd studied the virus for years on animals. They wanted to see what it would do to humans. At first, nothing happened. They let their guard down. then it rose up suddenly, infected the town, overran the population. It found the perfect host in Elizabeth Greene. Gentek was working a sample of the Hope virus. They called it Blacklight. The goal was to a engineer a version that would copy and combine genetic traits; re-write living creatures. Sound familiar? It should. You're not human. You're the Blacklight virus. But you're alive. Blackwatch is planning to deploy a weapon against you using aircraft... Get to the refueling station on top of the Hightlines Building. You'll find what you need there.", and he ends the call.
Jason briefly looks at the phone before dropping it, leaving for his next destination, since he knows from other's memories that the Contact might not be lying about a weapon against him. However...
"I'm the virus...? What bullshit", Jason grunts out as he glides.

AN: Alright, other heroes will appear next chapter during a scene with General Randall.
I'm thinking of Jason just being infect, like James Heller, even if the military think he's the virus in human form.
