Rustle Up Some Grubbin
The next day at the Pokemon School, everyone in Professor Kukui's class was gathered around Lillie's egg.
"When do you think it'll hatch?" asked Shelby.
"I'm sure when the time is right, it will." said Mallow.
"We just need to be patient." said Lincoln. Suddenly, the egg starts to glow brightly.
"What's going on?" asked Lynn.
"My egg started doing this when it was about to hatch!" said Lincoln.
"I guess the time is right." said Shane. Everybody watches as Lillie's egg glowed brigher, making them shield their eyes; when the light faded, everyone looked to see an Alolan Vulpix on Lillie's desk.
"It's a Vulpix." said Alola Lana.
"It's so cute!" said Shelby. The Alolan Vulpix looked around at everyone before its eyes settled on Lillie.
"Hello." said Lillie, making the Vulpix do a head tilt before walking over to Lillie and sniff at her; she suddenly smiles before leaping into Lillie's arms, making everyone smile.
"I guess it knows you since you've been the one to spend the most time with it." said Kiawe.
"Is this Vulpix a boy or a girl?" asked Lincoln. "I don't want to refer to it, as an 'it'."
"Let me see." said Professor Kukui. He picks up the Alolan Vulpix and does a thorough examination.
"What's the verdict, Professor?" asked Sophocles.
"This Vulpix is a girl." said Professor Kukui.
"Good to know." said Shane.
"Professor; is it okay if I give her a name?" asked Lillie.
"I don't see why not." said Professor Kukui. "Some trainers do give their Pokemon nicknames."
"Since she's an ice type, I'll name her Snowy." said Lillie, making her Vulpix, now dubbed as Snowy, smile and yip.
"I think she likes it." said Lincoln.
"Nice to meet you, Snowy." said Shelby.
After school, as everyone starts to head for the slide leading to the ground floor, Sophocles stops Lincoln.
"Hey, Lincoln." Sophocles calls out to him.
"What's up, Sophocles?" asked Lincoln.
"Could I get your help with something?" asked Sophocles.
"What do you need?" asked Lincoln.
"I want to catch a Grubbin." said Sophocles.
"How come?" asked Lincoln.
"I want to evolve it for something I really want to do." said Sophocles.
"Sure, I got some free time on my hands right now." said Lincoln.
"Thanks, Lincoln." said Sophocles.
Once everyone gets to the front of the school, Lincoln tells his family and friends his request from Sophocles.
"Where are you gonna look?" asked Mallow.
"I know that some hang out on Route 1, so that's the best place I can think of to look." said Lincoln.
"Hope you find one." said Shane.
"Maybe we can all help." said Shiloh.
"That would be great." said Sophocles. "We can cover more ground that way."
"Hey, Lillie!" Chandler's voice calls out, making everyone frown before turning to see the annoying redhead coming their way.
"Man, and I was hoping we can get away without him seeing us." said Shiloh.
"How're you doing, babe?" Chandler asked the annoyed blonde.
"If you must know, my egg finally hatched." said Lillie as she gestures to the Alolan Vulpix in her arms.
"What is it?' asked Chandler as he bends to get a closer look at Lillie's new Pokemon.
"She's a Vulpix." said Lillie. "I named her Snowy."
"Well, since it's a girl, it would be weird to name her Chandler Jr." said Chandler.
"Good thing Vulpix is a girl then." said Shelby. As Chandler gets too close to Snowy, she got uncomfortable and breathes out a stream of cold snow that completely freezes over Chandler's head; everyone watches with amusement as he stumbles around, trying to get his head unfrozen.
"This works better than giving him a cold shoulder." said Lynn.
"Now he has a cold head." said Shane. Chandler soon runs into the school's front gate and shatters his head's icy prison.
"Man, that was cold!" said Chandler.
"Yeah, ice is usually like that." said Mallow.
"So my next trial is yours?" Chandler asked Mallow, making her shudder.
"I guess it is." Mallow replied.
"I'll do it this weekend." said Chandler as he rests his arm on Mallow's shoulder, making her cringe, and Lincoln growl.
"Fine." said Mallow.
"And Larry; don't be surprised if Mallow wants me after the trial." said Chandler before he walks over to Lillie, making sure not to be within range of Snowy's ice breath.
"Like I'm gonna want to be with that creep?" asked Mallow as she walks over to Lincoln and holds his hand, making him smile and quietly lets out a sigh of relief.
"Should we get going to Route 1?" asked Sophocles.
"Yeah." said Lincoln.
The group, and Chandler who was just tagging along, head over to Route 1 to try and find a Grubbin for Sophocles. Once there, everyone splits into groups and starts searching.
Five minutes later, Sophocles was on his hands and knees, looking through some tall grass.
"There's gotta be one around here somewhere." said Sophocles.
"Any luck yet, Sophocles?" Lincoln asked from nearby.
"Not yet." said Sophocles.
"Don't give up." said Alola Lana.
The group looks around until they hear some shouting coming from nearby, surprising them.
"What was that?" asked Shane.
"Someone could be in trouble." said Lincoln as everyone starts converging on the location of the shout; Sophocles was the first to arrive, and to his surprise, he sees Team Skull, with Tupp running around with a Grubbin that has its mandibles clamped onto his butt while Rapp and Zipp chasing after him to try and help.
"Get it off! Get it off! Get it off!" shouts Tupp.
"If you just hold still, we can try to!" said Rapp.
"Just hurry!" said Tupp.
"Hey!" Sophocles shouts to Team Skull, getting their attention.
"Oh great, one of you school geeks." said Tupp as Rapp and Zipp take advantage of the distraction to get the Grubbin clamped onto him off; they then toss it aside, and look back at Sophocles.
"What are you doing here?" asked Zipp.
"I was kind of looking for a Grubbin." said Sophocles as he looks at the Pokemon he was searching for; Zipp quickly grabs the Grubbin and holds it over his head.
"If you want this one, then you have to give me your Pokemon!" said Zipp.
"No way!" said Sophocles. He takes out a pokeball and tosses it, releasing to Togedemaru.
"If that's how we're gonna do this, then you're on!" said Tupp as he takes out a pokeball and tosses it, releasing his Salandit. "And just so you know, we had a lousy day yesterday, and I am not in a good mood!"
"Togedemaru, use Zing Zap!" said Sophocles. His Togedemaru spins around while her body becomes covered in electricity; she then rams into Tupp's Salandit, shocking it a bit.
"Salandit, use Venoshock!" said Tupp. His Salandit releases a mass of purple liquid; it hits Togedemaru, but doesn't seem to have any effect.
"Why didn't it work?!" asked Zipp.
"Togedemaru is part steel type." said Sophocles. "Poison type attacks don't have any effect on her."
"No way!" said Tupp.
"Togedemaru, use Rollout!" said Sophocles. His Togedemaru rolls at Tupp's Salandit and rams it, dealing super effective damage, and knocking it out.
"Oh, come on!" shouts Tupp.
"Yes! I win!" said Sophocles. Tupp growls before he tosses Sophocles some pokedollars. Just then, Lincoln, along with his family and friends, come running into the area.
"What's going on?" asked Lincoln.
"CUTIE!" shouts Rapp as she tackle hugs Lincoln to the ground, pulls her mask down, and starts peppering his face with kisses, making him blush, and Mallow growl.
"GET OFF HIM!" shouts Mallow as she grabs Lincoln and pulls her away from Rapp.
"Don't mess with me!" said Rapp. "It's bad enough that Kalani girl wants my cutie also!"
"How do you know about Kalani?" asked Shelby.
"We met yesterday!" said Rapp as she grabs Lincoln and holds him tight to her body, making Mallow glare at her.
"Yeah, you should've seen those two when they found out they both liked that kid." said Tupp with a laugh. Mallow walks over and pulls Lincoln away from Rapp, making her glare at Mallow.
"Zipp, take care of those dorks!" said Tupp.
"You got it!" said Zipp as he takes out a pokeball and tosses it, releasing a Fearow.
"Who wants this one?" asked Kiawe.
"Ooh! Let me do it!" said Shelby as she runs over and tosses a pokeball, releasing her Sudowoodo.
"You think a little girl can beat me?" asked Zipp.
"Let's find out!" said Shelby.
"Fine." said Zipp. "Fearow, use Peck!" His Fearow flies over to Sudowoodo and pecks at him, not doing a lot of damage.
"Sudowoodo, use Rock Tomb!" said Shelby. Her Sudowoodo drops a bunch of rocks onto Zipp's Fearow, dealing super effective damage, and lowers its speed.
"Fearow, use Drill Run!" said Zipp. His Fearow's beak starts spinning like a drill as it flies at Sudowoodo and rams its beak into him, dealing super effective damage.
"Nice one, Zipp!" said Tupp.
"Try this on for size!" said Shelby. "Sudowoodo, use Flail!" Her Sudowoodo starts swinging his arms around wildly, eventually striking Fearow, and knocking it out.
"No way!" said Zipp.
"I won!" said Shelby.
"Tell me something I don't know." said Zipp.
"That could be just about anything!" said Lynn. Zipp growls as he tosses Shelby some pokedollars and returns his Fearow to its pokeball.
"Let's just get out of here!" said Tupp as he tosses aside the Grubbin and starts to leave.
"Hope to see you later, cutie!" said Rapp as she walks away while swaying her hips and blowing Lincoln a kiss.
"A LOT LATER!" shouts Mallow as she wraps her arms around Lincoln and holds him tight, making him blush.
"How does he do it?" asked Chandler. As they all watch Team Skull leave, Sophocles feels something on his leg, making him look to see the Grubbin rubbing against it.
"Hi, Grubbin." said Sophcoles. "Are you okay?" Grubbin looks at him happily and nods.
"I think so." said Lillie.
"Here's your chance to catch it." said Kiawe. Sophocles nods as he takes an empty pokeball from his pocket and tosses it at the Grubbin, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles once before it clicks.
"You did it!" said Shiloh.
"Congratulations." said Lincoln.
"Thanks, everyone." said Sophocles.
Later, at the Louds' hotel room, everyone was watching something on TV about green, box-shaped, buglike Pokemon in small cars, racing on a track; Lincoln's family was watching from his Rotom Phone.
"What's this again?" asked Lana Loud as she watches with interest.
"It's Charjabug Racing." said Sophocles.
"Charjabug?" Shiloh replied.
"That's Grubbin's evolved form." said Sophocles. "Anyway, Charjabugs race around on those cars called Charjabug Racers."
"Cool!" said Lana Loud.
"I've always wanted to do it, but I didn't have a Charjabug to do it with." said Sophocles. "But now that I got a Grubbin, I can train him until he evolves into one."
"I hope you do." said Shelby.
Lincoln, along with his friends, help Sophocles capture a Grubbin. What else will they do as their Alola adventure continues?
