Somewhere in an alley in Hau'oli City; Team Skull was hanging out, trying to figure out what they were going to do today.
"I really can't stand those Pokemon School dweebs." said Tupp.
"Don't insult my cutie, Tupp!" said Rapp as she holds a fist to her associate's face.
"Whatever." said Tupp.
As the group sat around, they notice a boy with platinum blonde hair that's shaved at the sides, wearing a dark gray sleeveless shirt with a red scar-shaped design on it over a black long-sleeved undershirt with rips in it, along with black ripped pants, and red shoes with gray soles walking through the alley; with him was a sleek, black, quadrupedal Pokemon with yellow rings on its forelegs and forehead, along with around its tail and ears.
"Hey, you!" Tupp yells out, getting the boy's attention.
"This is our turf!" said Zipp.
"Whatever." said the boy.
"Looks like we got an attitude problem here." said Tupp.
"Let's teach this punk a lesson!" said Zipp. He, Tupp, and Rapp all take pokeballs off their waists and toss them, releasing a Garbador, Salandit, and a Golbat. The boy just glares at them as he takes a pokeball off his waist and tosses it, releasing a Midnight Form Lycanroc.
"Salandit, use Venoshock!" said Tupp.
"Garbador, use Sludge Bomb!" said Zipp.
"Golbat, use Air Cutter!" said Rapp. Team Skull's Pokemon unleashed their attacks towards the boy's Pokemon.
"Lycanroc, use Stone Edge!" said the boy. His Lycanroc punches the ground, causing a trail of sharp-pointed rocks come shooting up out of the ground towards Team Skull's Pokemon, the attack break up Team Skull's Pokemon's attacks, and hits all three of them at the same time, knocking them all out.
"No way!" said Tupp.
"I just blinked and it was all over." said Zipp.
"What do we do now?" asked Rapp. They all get nervous as the boy glares at them while his Lycanroc snarls menacingly at them also.
"Let's get out of here!" said Tupp as he and his friends return their Pokemon to their pokeballs, toss the boy some pokedollars, and run away as quickly as they could.
"Wasn't worth my time." said the boy as he returns his Lycanroc to its pokeball, picks up the money, and walks off with his black Pokemon.
Meanwhile, at the Pokemon School; Lincoln, along with his family and friends, were just finishing class for the day.
"See you all tomorrow, class." said Professor Kukui.
The group exits the classroom, via the balcony slide, and start walking towards the front gate.
"So where's your next Island Trial gonna be at, cuz?" Shane asked Lincoln.
"I don't know." said Lincoln.
"The next trial is on Ula'ula Island." said Sophocles.
"Haven't been to that island yet." said Lincoln.
"What kind of Pokemon do you think there are?" asked Shiloh.
"Maybe some strong ones I can battle to get ready for the Pokemon Battle Royale Tournament." said Lynn.
"Yeah, you want to be ready for Kalani." said Kiawe, making Lynn and Mallow frown at the mention of their rival's name.
"So what should we do now?" asked Shelby.
"Let's hang out around town and see if there's anything to do right now." said Lincoln.
As Lillie was holding Snowy close to her, a familiar and unpleasant feeling appears on her shoulders, making her cringe.
"Hey, babe." Chandler's voice says, making everyone look to see the obnoxious redhead with his arm around Lillie's shoulders.
"Oh, it's you." said Lynn.
"What are you up to?" asked Chandler.
"Gonna hang out around town." said Lynn.
"I'll come along to keep my girlfriend company." said Chandler. As he walks around Lillie and stands in front of her, Snowy releases another blast of icy wind which freezes Chandler's head over, making him run around until he runs into a part of the school's front gate, making the ice on his head shatter, and causing him to fall onto his back.
"Nice one, Snowy." said Lynn.
The group, and Chandler, head into Hau'oli City and check around to see what was going on in the area; as they walk along the beach, they see a large crowd of people watching something.
"What's going on over there?" asked Lincoln.
"Wanna go check it out?" asked Lynn.
"Might be something interesting." said Shane.
"Probably not as interesting as me." said Chandler with a cocky grin.
"Paint drying is more interesting than you, Chandler." said Shelby.
The group walks over to the crowd and work their way to the front of it; they manage to do so, and see a Pokemon battle going on between a young boy with tan skin, black hair, blue tank top, tan khakis, and green sandals; in front of him was a golden yellow, bipedal, humanoid Pokemon with a white collar of fur around its neck, holding a pendant.
"What's that Pokemon?" asked Lincoln as he points his Rotom Phone at the yellow Pokemon.
"Hypno, the Hypnosis Pokemon, and the evolved form of Drowzee. In Alola, Komala is Hypno's main target. It rarely harms people." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
The group looks at the boy's opponent and see the blonde boy that battled Team Skull earlier and his black quadrupedal Pokemon; Lynn blushes when he sees the blonde-haired boy.
"Why does that guy look familiar?" asked Lincoln as he points his Rotom Phone at the Pokemon the blonde boy was using.
"Umbreon, the Moonlight Pokemon, and the evolved form of Eevee. This Pokémon is nocturnal. Even in total darkness, its large eyes can spot its prey clearly!" said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"Gladion?!" said Lillie when she sees the blonde-haired boy, getting everyone's attention.
"Wait, are you talking about your brother?" asked Mallow.
"I thought I recognized him." said Lincoln. "He was in that picture in your room."
'So that's my future brother-in-law.' Chandler thinks to himself. 'Looks cool, but not as much as I am.' (a/n: Yeah, keep telling yourself that, Chandler.)
The boy, now revealed to be Gladion, decides to get the battle started.
"Umbreon, use Quick Attack!" said Gladion. His Umbreon moves at incredible speed at his opponent's Hypno and slams into its chest with such force it's sent flying to its trainers feet; it struggles to stand back up.
"That was fast!" said Lynn.
"Hypno, use Psybeam!" said Gladion's opponent. His Hypno fires a beam of psychic energy at Gladion's Umbreon.
"That won't do a thing." said Gladion before the beam washes over Umbreon; when the attack was done, Umbreon looked unharmed.
"Why didn't it work?" asked Shiloh.
"Psychic type moves have no effect on dark type Pokemon." said Kiawe.
"Umbreon, use Dark Pulse!" said Gladion. His Umbreon fires orbs of black energy out of its forehead that hit Hypno, dealing more than enough super effective to knock it out.
"Wow." said Lynn.
"That was pretty good." said Sophocles.
"He really is strong like Hobbes said." said Lincoln.
Gladion's opponent returns his Hypno to its pokeball before walking over to him.
"Good battle." said Hypno's trainer as he hands Gladion some pokedollars.
"Thanks, I guess." said Gladion. As the boy leaves, Gladion hears footsteps approaching him from behind; he looks and was surprised to see Lillie.
"Hi, Gladion." said Lillie.
"Lillie?" Gladion replied.
"How have you been?" asked Lillie.
"I've been getting stronger." said Gladion.
"I can tell." said Lillie. Gladion then notices Snowy in Lillie's arms.
"You finally got yourself a Pokemon?" asked Gladion.
"I also have a Comfey." said Lillie. Gladion then notices Lillie's friends and Chandler standing behind her.
"Who are they?" asked Gladion, making Lillie look back towards the group.
"These are friends of mine." said Lillie.
"I'm Lincoln Loud." said Lincoln.
"I'm his sister, Lynn Loud Jr." said Lynn.
"I'm Shane Loud." said Shane.
"I'm his sister, Shelby Loud." said Shelby.
"And I'm their brother, Shiloh Loud." said Shiloh.
"I'm Mallow." said Mallow.
"I'm Lana." said Alola Lana.
"I'm Sophocles." said Sophocles.
"I'm Kiawe." said Kiawe. Chandler walks next to Lillie and puts an arm around her shoulder, making Lillie cringe, which Gladion notices.
"And I'm Lillie's boyfriend, Chandler McCann." said Chandler.
"He is not." Lillie says to Gladion.
"Not yet, but you'll warm up to me someday, babe." said Chandler. Gladion frowns at Chandler and walks over to him.
"Are you making moves on my sister?" Gladion asked Chandler as he glares at him.
"Come on." Chandler replied. "She wants me, but just doesn't know it yet."
"How do I know you're even good enough for her?" asked Gladion.
"I'm more than good enough for any babe I want." said Chandler with a smirk.
"Let me see for myself." said Gladion.
"What do you mean?" asked Chandler.
"Pokemon battle, you versus me." said Gladion. Chandler looked a little nervous, especially since he's seen what Gladion can do; but his ego gets the better of him.
"You're on!" said Chandler with a big smile before he looks at Lillie and winks, making her cringe, and Gladion frown.
Moments later, Gladion and Chandler were standing several feet from each other while Lincoln and the others watched.
"So, how many Pokemon are we using?" asked Chandler.
"We'll each use only one Pokemon." replied Gladion.
"Fine by me." said Chandler. 'When I beat Gladion, then Lillie will see what a strong trainer I am, and she'll want me for sure.' Gladion pulls out a pokeball.
"Go!" said Gladion, throwing a pokeball and releasing a Zubat. Chandler pulls out a pokeball.
"Jolteon, come out!" said Chandler, throwing Jolteon's pokeball and releasing him.
"Use Fury Swipes!" said Gladion. Zubat flies to Jolteon, and repeatedly scratches him with its wings, knocking him back.
"That's weird; Zubats normally don't know how to use Fury Swipes." said Sophocles.
"Jolteon, Thunder Fang!" said Chandler. Jolteon leaps at Zubat while electricity surrounded its fangs and it bites onto Zubat, damaging it.
"That's strange; Zubat is part flying, so Thunder Fang should've done more damage than that." said Lincoln. Zubat suddenly changes into a bipedal foxlike Pokemon with black fur with a red mane on top of its head.
"Hey, that's not a Zubat." said Lynn Jr. Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Zoroark, the Illusion Fox Pokemon and the evolved form of Zorua. It doesn't just transform itself—it also has the power to make hundreds of people see its illusions." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"Hey, that's cheating!" said Chandler.
"My Zoroark has an ability called Illusion which changes his appearance to that of one of the Pokemon on my team; so it isn't cheating." said Gladion. "Zoroark, use Night Slash!" Zoroark leaps at Jolteon while its claws glowed dark red and it claws Jolteon, landing a critical hit; Jolteon falls to the ground, unconscious.
"No way!" exclaimed Chandler.
"Man; Gladion's strong." said Lincoln.
"I'll say." said Lynn Jr, looking at Gladion with admiration.
"Looks like I win." said Gladion. He walks over to Chandler and holds out his hand; reluctantly, Chandler takes out his money and gives half of it to Gladion.
'I looked like a real loser in front of my girlfriend.' Chandler thinks to himself. Once Gladion pockets the money he won, he looks over at Lillie.
"What have you been up to since you left home?" asked Lillie.
"Training for the Alola League." said Gladion.
"You're going for that also?" asked Lincoln.
"Yeah." said Gladion.
"Maybe we'll battle against each other then." said Lincoln.
"If we do, I hope you'll be more of a challenge than that guy." said Gladion as he points at Chandler.
"My cousin is way better than Chandler." said Shelby.
"Guess I'll see for myself at the Alola League." said Gladion before he walks away, but not before he takes a long look at Lynn, who blushes when he looks at her.
"I'm definitely gonna step up my training." said Lincoln.
"Good idea." said Mallow.
"You want to be at the top of your game if by some chance you battle that guy." said Shiloh.
"Larry should be worried more about me." said Chandler.
"Why?" asked Shane.
"Lincoln's already stronger than you are." said Shelby.
"Well, I'm also gonna step up my training; not that I really need to." said Chandler.
"Keep telling yourself that." said Lynn.
Lincoln and his group just met Lillie's brother. What else will they experience as their Alola adventures continue?
