Meeting Bernard
The next morning, the Loud Crowd were at the table in their cabin, eating stacks of pancakes with a glasses of orange juice.
"So, everyone; what's on the agenda for today?" asked Clyde.
"Well, we still have one more of those temples to find." said Lincoln.
"What do you guys think is inside it?" asked Leni.
"If it's a fairy type, I want to catch it." said Lola.
"So, where is this temple?" asked Sam.
"We should find Peonia; she should know." replied Clyde. After everyone finished eating and the dishes were put in the dishwasher, the Loud Crowd stepped out of their cabin; after locking the door, the Loud Crowd began walking towards Freezington.
"Now where was Peonia staying at?" asked Lana.
"Hey; I see her over there." said Luna, pointing at something. The Loud Crowd looked at where Luna was pointing at to see Peonia with a reddish brown, bipedal, dinosaur-like Pokemon with a white ruff around its neck in front of her. Clyde takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at Peonia's Pokemon.
"Tyrantrum, the Despot Pokemon, and the evolved form of Tyrunt. A single bite of Tyrantrum's massive jaws will demolish a car. This Pokémon was the king of the ancient world." said Clyde's Rotom Phone.
The Loud Crowd saw Peonia and Tyrantrum were facing a boy with red hair, wearing a brown flat cap, a green winter parka, brown gloves, beige cargo pants, and brown boots; in front of the boy was a bipedal, light purple, dragonlike Pokemon with a dark purple underside and two pairs on antennaes, one pair much larger than the other pair. Ronnie Anne takes out her Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Goodra, the Dragon Pokemon, and the final evolved form of Goomy. Its form of offense is forcefully stretching out its horns. The strikes land 100 times harder than any blow from a heavyweight boxer." said Ronnie Anne's Rotom Phone.
"Looks like those two are having a Pokemon battle." said Lincoln.
"Tyranturm, use Dragon Claw!" said Peonia. Tyrantrum charges at Goodra while its claws glowed light green and it claws Goodra with them, dealing super effective damage.
"Your Tyrantrum is strong, but alas, it is no match for my Goodra." said Peonia's opponent. "Goodra, use Dragon Pulse!" Goodra opens its mouth and releases a multicolored beam of energy that was shaped like a dragon, and it hits Tyrantrum, dealing super effective damage; Tyrantrum falls to the ground, unconscious. "Well done, Goodra." Peonia runs to her Tyrantrum and checks on it.
"Are you okay, Tyrantrum?" asked Peonia. Tyrantrum opens its eyes and weakly nods; Peonia smiles before returning Tyranturm to its pokeball. She looks to see her opponent walking over to her with a smug look on her face. "That was a good battle, Bernard." She gives her opponent, now identified as Bernard, pokedollars.
"It would have been for me if you were a strong opponent, lass." replied Bernard as he puts the pokedollars. "You should keep doing this Adven-tour with your father; because you wouldn't have lasted long in the Galar League if you did decide to compete in it."
"Hey, you can't talk to her like that!" yelled Clyde, walking over to Peonia, getting her and Bernard's attention; Clyde soon reaches Peonia. "You okay, Peonia?"
"Yes; thank you, Clyde." replied Peonia. A look of recognition appeared on Bernard's face.
"Oy; you're a part of the Loud Crowd." said Bernard.
"You bet he is, buster!" yelled Lola as she and the rest of the Loud Crowd walk over to Clyde and Peonia.
"I've seen you all in your gym battles." said Bernard.
"And I think I remember seeing you at the opening ceremony back at Motostoke Stadium." said Lincoln, remembering seeing Bernard the day of the opening ceremony.
"I must say, you Loud Crowd have quite the reputation of being strong trainers." said Bernard.
"And you happen to be looking at Opal's successor." said Lola, pointing at herself.
"I heard the old hag was retiring soon." replied Bernard.
"Don't call her that, bub!" yelled Lola.
"You know; I would like to have a battle with one of you to see you're as strong as you appeared to be in your gym battles." said Bernard. "But I must warn you, I, too, have trained hard for the Galar League. I have travelled all around Galar winning all the badges I need, I travelled to the Isle of Armor where I trained, as well as getting Max Soup for one of my Pokemon, and I have come here to prepare myself for the Galar League."
"If you want to battle one of us, then I'll battle you." said Clyde, stepping forward. "Teach you to talk to Peonia the way you did." Peonia blushes in response.
Moments later, Clyde and Bernard were standing several yards from each other while the rest of the Loud Crowd and Peonia watched.
"So, how many Pokemon are we using?" asked Clyde.
"Perhaps we shall use three." replied Bernard.
"Fine by me." replied Clyde. He and Bernard each pull a pokeball from their waist. "Liepard, go!" Clyde throws Liepard's pokeball and releases her.
"Vanilluxe, come out!" said Bernard, throwing a pokeball and releasing a two headed Pokemon that looked like two scoops of ice cream on an icy cone with a strawlike protrusion on its left head.
"Seeing that Pokemon has me in the mood for ice cream." said Lana. She takes out her Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Vanilluxe, the Snowstorm Pokemon, and the final evolved form of Vanillite. People believe this Pokémon formed when two Vanillish stuck together. Its body temperature is roughly 21 degrees Fahrenheit." said Lana's Rotom Phone.
"Liepard, use Hone Claws!" said Clyde. Glowing red claws retract from Liepard's paws, and she becomes surrounded by a burst of orange energy, raising her attack strength.
"Vanilluxe, use Icy Wind!" said Bernard. Vanilluxe releases a gust of air with blue sparkles from its mouths and it hits Liepard, dealing damage, and lowering her speed. "Just so you know, lad; I have given Vanilluxe Never Melt Ice, which raises the power of his ice moves."
"Liepard, use Assurance!" said Clyde. Liepard charges at Vanilluxe and rams it, dealing more damage than it normally would have due to Assurance's power being doubled from Liepard being hit before using the move, as well as Hone Claws strengthening Liepard's attack strength.
"Vanilluxe, use Ice Beam!" said Bernard. A ball of blue light forms in front of Vanilluxe; blue beams of light are released from the ball and they hit Liepard, dealing damage.
"Liepard, use Night Slash!" said Clyde. Liepard leaps at Vanilluxe while her claws glowed light purple.
"Vanilluxe, use Acid Armor!" said Bernard. Vanilluxe begins to melt, and its defense increases before Liepard claws it, landing a critical hit, but not doing as much damage as it normally would have. "Now use Icicle Spear!" Vanilluxe points the lower half of his body at Liepard; he spins around, releasing multiple icicles at Liepard and they hit her, dealing damage.
"Liepard, use Play Rough!" said Clyde. Liepard leaps at Vanilluxe; it becomes surrounded by a thick white smoke surrounded by star. Liepard begins striking Vanilluxe with her paws, knocking it to the ground; Vanilluxe struggles to get up.
"Vanilluxe, use Blizzard!" said Bernard. Vanilluxe opens his mouths and releases a blizzard from them, dealing damage to Liepard, and knocks her out.
"Don't worry, Clyde!" said Lincoln.
"You can turn this around!" said Ronnie Anne.
"I know you can do it!" said Peonia. Clyde nods before returning Liepard to her pokeball.
"You deserve a rest, Liepard." sadi Clyde. He puts Liepard's pokeball away and pulls out another. "Incineroar, go!" He throws Incineroar's pokeball and releases him. "Incineroar, uses Flamethrower!" Incineroar releases a stream of fire from his belly, and it hits Vanilluxe, deaing super effective damage, and knocking him out.
"Great work, Clyde!" said Sam.
"Keep it up!" said Lana. Bernard returns Vanilluxe to his pokeball; Bernard puts Vanilluxe's pokeball away and pulls out another.
"Throh, go!" said Bernard, throwing a pokeball, and releasing a bulky, humanoid Pokemon with red skin that appeared to be wearing karate garb. Luna takes out her Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Throh, the Judo Pokemon. They train in groups of five. Any member that can't keep up will discard its belt and leave the group." said Luna's Rotom Phone.
"Looks like Lynn's kind of Pokemon." said Lucy from behind Luna, scaring her.
"Incineroar, use Fire Fang!" said Clyde. Incineroar leaps at Throh while fire surrounded his fangs and he bites Throh, dealing damage.
"Throh, use Storm Throw!" said Bernard. Throh grabs Incineroar and throws him onto the ground, landing a critical hit, and dealing super effective damage. "Storm Throw always lands critical hits; plus, that Muscle Band I gave him increases his physical attacks."
"Incineroar, use Bulk Up!" said Clyde.
"You too, Throh!" said Bernard. Incineroar and Throh begin bulking up and their attack and defense increases.
"Incineroar, use Double Kick!" said Clyde. Incineroar leaps at Throh and kicks him twice, dealing damage.
"Throh, use Vital Throw!" said Bernard. One of Throh's arms glowed yellow; he grabs Incineroar, swings him around, and throws him onto the ground, dealing massive damage due to Bulk Up and Muscle Band powering up his physical moves, as well as Incineroar being weak against fighting type moves.
"Incineroar, use Fire Fang!" said Clyde. Incineroar leaps at Throh while fire surrounded his fangs and he bites Throh, dealing damage.
"Throh, use Revenge!" said Bernard. Throh becomes surrounded by an orange aura; it releases a burst of orange energy that hits Incineroar, dealing super effective damage. Incineroar drops to his knees; a fiery aura surrounded Incineroar's body.
"Incineroar's Blaze ability!" said Clyde. "Incineroar, use Flare Blitz!" Incineroar becomes surrounded by reddish orange fire and he leaps at Throh; Incineroar crashes into Throh, creating an explosion that causes everyone to cover their arms with their arms; when the smoke from the explosion cleared, Throh was on the ground, unconscious while Incineroar flinches in pain from the recoil damage caused by Flare Blitz.
"Yay, Clyde!" said Leni.
"Just one more Clyde!" said Ronnie Anne.
"Keep it up!" said Lincoln. Bernard returns Throh to its pokeball; he puts it away and pulls another from his waist.
"Butterfree, go!" said Bernard, throwing the pokeball and releasing a purple, butterflylike Pokemon with white wings, light blue hands and feet. Leni takes out her pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Butterfree, the Butterfly Pokemon, and the final evolved form of Caterpie. It collects honey every day. It rubs honey onto the hairs on its legs to carry it back to its nest." said Leni's Rotom Phone.
"He has a Butterfree too?" asked Lincoln.
"But can yours Gigantimax like mine can?" asked Bernard.
"His Butterfree must be the Pokemon he gave the Max Soup to." said Lana.
"Who cares?" asked Lola. "That Butterfree won't stand a chance against Incineroar."
"Butterfree, use Air Slash!" said Bernard. Butterfree flaps its wings, releasing circular blades of energy that hits Incineraor, dealing enough damage to knock it out; Bernard turned towards Lola. "Like you were saying?" Lola growls at Bernard in response, making Bernard recoil. Clyde returns Incineroar to his pokeball.
"You were great, Incineroar." said Clyde. He puts Incineroar's pokeball away and pulls another pokeball from his belt. "Gallade, go!" He throws Gallade's pokeball and releases him. "Gallade, Calm Mind!" Gallade closes his eyes, and he begins glowing brightly; his special attack and special defense increases.
"Butterfree, use Bug Buzz!" said Bernard. Butterfree lets out a loud shriek, releasing red soundwaves that hits Gallade, dealing damage, and weakening his special defense. "My Butterfree has Silver Powder, so his bug type moves are even stronger."
"That won't stop me; Gallade, use Psybeam!" said Clyde. Gallade fires another multicolored beam of energy at Butterfree and hits him, dealing more damage than it normally would have due to Gallade's special attack strength being increased by Calm Mind.
"Butterfree, use Gust!" said Bernard. Butterfree flaps his wings and releases a gust of wind that hits Gallade, dealing super effective damage.
"Gallade, Psychic!" said Clyde. Gallade's eyes glowed light blue; a blue shockwave appears from Gallade's body, and it hits Butterfree, dealing damage, and weakening Butterfree's special defense.
"Butterfree, use Bug Bite!" said Bernard. Butterfree flies towards Gallade and bites him, dealing damage.
"Gallade, use Confusion!" said Clyde. Gallade's eyes glowed light purple; Butterfree gets sent flying back and hits a tree and being dealt more damage due to Butterfree's special defense being weakened. Butterfree begins fluttering around, dizzily.
"Butterfree's confused." said Sam.
"Butterfree, use Tackle!" said Bernard. Butterfree fights through his paralysis and flies at Gallade; Butterfree rams into Gallade, dealing damage; Gallade struggles to stay on his feet.
"Don't give up, Gallade; use Slash!" said Clyde. Gallade leaps at Butterfree and slashes him with his elbow blade, dealing damage.
"Butterfree, Air Slash!" said Bernard. Butterfree fights through his confusion and flaps his wings, releasing circular blades of energy at Gallade.
"Gallade, Double Team!" said Clyde. Gallade splits into several copies of himself; the blades of energy hits one of the Gallades, but it was only a copy. "Now use Slash once more!" The real Gallade leaps at Butterfree and slashes him, knocking him to the ground, unconscious.
"Clyde won!" said Lincoln.
"That was incredible!" said Peonia.
"You showed that stinker!" said Lola; Clyde walks to Gallade.
"You were incredible, Gallade." said Clyde, patting Gallade on the back, making him smile. Bernard returns Butterfree to his pokeball; he puts it away and walks over to Clyde.
"I guess you Loud Crowd are strong trainers after all." said Bernard.
"You got that right!" said Lana. Bernard takes pokedollars out of his pocket and gives them to Clyde.
"You beat me this time; but I'm going to train harder here, and when we meet at the Galar League, I will win." said Bernard; he then turns and walks away. Clyde feels a pair of arms wrap around his waist; he looks to see Peonia, hugging him while nuzzling his back.
"You were great, Clyde." said Peonia.
"Thanks, Peonia." replied Clyde, blushing.
"Come on, everyone; we still have a temple to find." said Lincoln. Everyone nods; they walked off with Peonia having an arm around one of Clyde's.
The Loud Crowd have met another trainer who is competing in the Galar Region. Will one of them end up battling him? Wait and find out.

Authors' Note: Bernard is an OC, With the Loud Crowd, which consists of nine people, Bede, Hop, Marnie, and Gloria, that would be an odd number of trainers in the Galar League, so another trainer was necessary to even the numbers. Who wants to win by default anyway?
