Psyduck Blockade
After Stella's battle with her and Dawn's new rival, Urusla, Lincoln and the rest of the group continue up Route 209.
"So, Stella and Dawn; what do you think of Ursula?" asked Lincoln.
"She's a good coordinator." replied Dawn.
"Her Gabite was strong." said Stella.
"Your Roserade still beat it." said Luna.
"You think Ursula's getting ready for when she meets you two at the Celestic Town Pokemon Contest?" Sam asked Stella and Dawn.
"Maybe." said Dawn. "We know she has a Plusle, a Minun, and a Gabite."
"Who knows what other Pokemon she has?" asked Stella.
"It doesn't matter; I'm sure you two can take her." said Lincoln.
"Thanks, Lincoln." said Stella before kissing Lincoln on the lips, making Dawn frown. After walking for several minutes, the group arrived at Solaceon Town. The group walked to the Pokemon Center and walked inside; Stella gives the nurse her Roserade to be treated after her battle with Ursula's Gabite. Moments later, everyone was in the cafeteria, eating lunch.
"How long do you think it will take to get to Celestic Town?" asked Clyde.
"It might take a couple of days." said Dawn.
Just then, three trainers came running into the Pokemon Center while holding pokeballs.
"Nurse!" a young boy said. "Our Pokemon need treatment!"
"What happened to them?" the nurse asked.
"We were trying to get north to Celestic Town, but this bunch of Psyducks won't let us through." said a young girl.
"When we tried battling them, they defeated our Pokemon easily." said another young boy.
"Not again." said the nurse as she takes the trainers' pokeballs; Lincoln's group was listening in on the conversation as they ate.
"That sounds like a real problem." said Stella.
"No one can get to Celestic Town." said Sam.
"But we need to get there so we can enter the contest!" said Dawn.
"Yeah." said Stella.
"You think we should check it out?" asked Lincoln.
"We should." said Stella.
"After we get your Roserade back once we finish eating, we'll head over there." said Lincoln.
"Let's hurry." said Simon. After the group finished eating, they walked to the nurse who had Roserade's pokeball in her hands.
"Your Roserade is fully healed, Stella." said the nurse.
"Thank you." replied Stella before taking her Roserade's pokeball.
"Let's go." said Lincoln. The group exits the Pokemon Center and head north up Route 210 until they soon see a line of three Psyducks blocking the road.
"Why are they all just standing there?" asked Clyde.
"Are they protecting something?" asked Sam.
"I don't know." said Stella. "But we do need to head up this road to get to Celestic Town."
"Let's try reasoning with them." said Clyde. He then walks over to the Psyducks who glare at him as he approaches.
"Be careful, little dude." said Luna.
"They look tough." said Sam.
"Pardon me." Clyde began to say to the Psyducks. "Would it be okay if we go up this road?" The Psyducks shake their heads in response. Lincoln walks over and stands next to Clyde.
"Are you all protecting something?" Lincoln asked, making the Psyducks nod.
"What do you think it is?" asked Luna.
"We have no interest in doing any harm to whatever it is you're all guarding; you can trust us." said Lincoln. The Psyducks shake their heads in response to this.
"Dudes aren't going to let us through." said Luna.
"Is there another way to get to Celestic Town?" asked Clyde.
"I don't think so." said Dawn as she looks at the map on her Poketch.
"We have to find a way to get through them." said Lincoln.
"Maybe we can distract them while one of us sneaks through." suggested Clyde.
"How are we going to get past them while they're distracted?" asked Simon.
"I can fly over on my Crobat." said Sam. "I'll have her come back for the rest of you once I get through."
"Good idea, dudette." said Luna. Sam goes off somewhere so the Psyducks won't see her; she lets her Crobat out of her pokeball and climbs onto her.
"Let's go, Crobat." said Sam. Crobat nods before she takes off while her friends chat it up with the Psyducks to draw their attention away from her.
She manages to get past the Psyducks and looks around for a place to land; as she does, she sees a small lake with a couple more Psyducks near it, watching over something.
"What are those dudes up to?" Sam asked herself; she has her Crobat set down nearby so she could investigate further. She gets off her Pokemon and sneaks over to where the Psyducks were gathered; when she was close enough, she could see them tending to several large eggs.
"So that's what was up with those Psyducks." said Sam. She then goes back to her Crobat and flies her back over to where her friends were; the Psyducks guarding the road were surprised to see her coming from behind them and looked ready to attack.
"Whoa there, dudes." Luna said, getting the Psyducks' attention.
"What did you find out, Sam?" asked Stella.
"These guys are protecting their eggs at a small pond nearby." said Sam.
"Oh, so you're guarding your babies?" asked Dawn, making the Psyducks nod in response.
"What do we do now?" asked Clyde. Just then, another Psyduck comes running down the road behind the other ones and beckons them to follow it.
"What's wrong?" asked Sam.
"Maybe something's wrong with the eggs." suggested Clyde.
"Let's go see." said Lincoln. The group runs over to where the pond that the Psyducks' eggs were located and soon find them, glowing brightly.
"Is something wrong with them?" asked Luna. Everyone watches as the eggs begin to change; when the glowing stops, the eggs were now small baby Psyducks.
"They're so cute." said Dawn. Luna looks around at the pond and realizes out small it was.
"There's not a lot of space here for these dudes." said Luna.
"Maybe we can find a bigger place for them." suggested Clyde.
"Let me check my map." said Dawn as she takes out her Poketch and brings up the map. "Hey, there's a much bigger pond nearby."
"You hear that, Psyducks?" asked Lincoln. "There's a bigger place near here." The Psyducks shake their heads in response.
"Is something wrong?" asked Simon.
"Maybe we should check this other place out." said Lincoln; the others nod in response. The group follow the map until they arrived at the other pond.
"I wonder what's wrong here." said Luna. She got her answer when three Pokemon that looked like larger Grimers come out of the pond.
"What are those things?" asked Stella. Lincoln takes out his pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Muk, the Sludge Pokemon, and the evolved form of Grimer. A toxic fluid seeps from its body. The fluid kills plants and trees immediately upon contact." said Lincoln's pokedex.
"You think those Psyducks came from this place until these Muks chased them off?" asked Simon.
"Probably." said Lincoln; he turned towards the Muks who were glaring at them. "You three need to leave."
"Yeah; this place belongs to those Psyducks." said Stella; the Muks glared at them in response.
"So, you dudes want to do things the hard way?" asked Luna.
"Fine by us." said Simon before pulling out a pokeball while Lincoln and Clyde do the same. "Feraligatr, go!" Simon tosses Feraligatr's pokeball and releases him.
"Let's go, Bastiodon!" said Lincoln, throwing Bastiodon's pokeball and releasing him.
"You too, Gallade!" said Clyde, throwing Gallade's pokeball and releasing him. Simon's Feraligatr and one of the Muks faced each other.
"Feraligatr, use Crunch!" said Simon. Feraligatr charges at the Muk while his teeth glowed white and he bites the Muk, dealing damage, and weakening its defense. Muk fires globs of brown sludge out of its mouth and they hit Feraligatr, dealing damage; it turned purple under Feraligatr's eyes.
"Watch it, little bro; Feraligatr's poisoned." said Sam. Feraligatr coughs and loses stamina from his poisoning.
"Feraligatr, use Water Gun!" said Simon. Feraligatr fires a stream of water out of his mouth and it hits Muk, dealing damage. The Muk spits out a ball of brown sludge at Feraligatr, dealing damage. Feraligatr coughs and loses more stamina from his poisoning.
"Feraligatr, use Ice Fang!" said Simon. Feraligatr's fangs become covered in light blue energy and he bites Muk, dealing damage, and encasing Muk in ice.
"Muk's frozen." said Stella. Feraligatr coughs and loses stamina from his poisoning; as he drops to one knee, a blue aura surrounds his body.
"I think that's Feraligatr's Torrent ability." said Sam.
"Feraligatr, one more Water Gun!" said Simon. Feraligatr fires a stronger stream of water out of his mouth and it hits Muk, shattering the ice encasing it, and sending it flying to the ground, unconscious.
"Way to go, Simon." said Sam.
Meanwhile, Clyde and Gallade were facing another Muk.
"Gallade, use Confusion!" said Clyde. Gallade's eyes glowed light blue; he releases a wave of light blue energy at Muk, hitting it, and dealing super effective damage. Muk begins stumbling around.
"I think Muk's confused." said Luna. The Muk fights through its confusion and releases a thick black smog from its mouth that hits Gallade, dealing damage; it turned purple under Gallade's eyes.
"Now Gallade's poisoned." said Dawn. Gallade coughs and loses stamina from his poisoning.
"Gallade, use Psybeam!" said Clyde. Gallade fires a multicolored beam of energy from his arms and it hits Muk, dealing super effective damage. Muk raises an arm, but pounds itself with it, dealing damage; Gallade loses more stamina from his poisoning. "Now use Slash!" Gallade leaps at Muk while one of his arms glowed white and he slashes Muk with the blade of his elbow, landing a critical hit that sends Muk flying and lands on the Muk Simon's Feraligatr fought, unconscious.
"Way to go, Gallade." said Clyde.
With Lincoln, his Bastiodon was facing the remaining Muk.
"Bastiodon, use Metal Sound!" said Lincoln. Bastiodon glows light blue and releases silver sound waves from his body and they hit Muk, weakening its special defense. Muk jumps at Bastiodon with an arm raised and pounds him, but not dealing much damage.
"I think that was Pound." said Sam.
"That won't do much to Bastiodon." said Clyde.
"Bastiodon, use Ancient Power!" said Lincoln. Bastiodon glows white and a ball of silver energy forms in front ot him; he launches it at Muk and it hits it, dealing more damage than it normally would have due to Muk's special defense being weakened. The Muk fires a stream of mud from its mouth that hits Bastiodon, dealing super effective damage, and lowers his accuracy.
"Bastiodon, use Rock Tomb!" said Lincoln. Multiple gray rocks form above Bastiodon and they flies at Muk, hitting it, and dealing damage. The Muk releases a thick black smog from its mouth and it hits Infernape, but having no effect on him.
"That must've been a poison type move." said Dawn.
"Good thing those don't work on steel type Pokemon." said Sam.
"All right, Bastiodon, use Tackle!" said Lincoln. Bastiodon charges at Muk and rams it, dealing damage, and sending it flying into the other two Muks.
"Finish this with Take Down!" said Lincoln. Bastiodon charges at the Muks; the one Bastiodon was battling fires multiple globs of sludge out of its mouth and they hit Bastiodon, but having no effect on him. Bastiodon rams all three Muks with incredible force and sends them flying far away; Bastiodon receives recoil damage from Take Down.
"And don't come back!" yelled Stella.
At an area with a lake that looked polluted, the three Muks fell right into the middle of it with a splash. They emerged from the lake and looked around; they smiled and began playing around, splashing each other. As they did, they see three other Muks with eyelashes, indicating them as female Muks and their eyes turned into hearts. The Muks swim to the female Muks and they all held hands; they began dancing around, happily.
Sometime later, after Simon and Clyde used Antidotes to cure their Pokemon of their poison. Lincoln and his friends return to the Psyducks and Lincoln tells them that the Muks were gone and they can return there; they, along with the newly hatched ones, began swimming around.
"They look happier." said Lincoln.
"I'm glad we were able to help them." said Clyde.
"At least now we can get going to Celestic Town." said Dawn.
"Let's get going then." said Lincoln; Stella holds his hand while Dawn grabs his other one and they all head off towards Celestic Town.
Lincoln's group has helped a group of protective Psyducks. What else will they do as their Sinnoh adventures continue? Wait and find out.
