The Vault
Lincoln and the others are on their way to visit the vault before continuing on their way to Route 6 on their way to Stow-on-Side where their next gym battle is. As they head up the road, they see Leon up ahead.
"Hi, Leon!" said Lincoln.
"Greetings, Lincoln and company." replied Leon. "You all have been doing well in collecting badges."
"That's right." said Lola. "We just need five more." A look of worry appears on Leon's face.
"Something wrong?" asked Lana.
"It's Hop." said Leon.
"Is he okay?" asked Lincoln with worry.
"Physically, he's fine; but he seemed upset when I saw him a few minutes ago. In fact, he took one look at me and said 'I'm so sorry, Leon'. It's the first time I heard him apologize for anything." said Leon. "Did something happen to him?"
"He lost a match to a trainer named Bede." said Lucy from behind Leon, startling him.
"When you lose, you feel down in the dumps." said Leon. "But then there's nowhere left to go but back up! You've got to think about why you lost!"
"That's true." said Leni.
"You know, that little brother of mine... I think he might yet become a surprisingly great trainer!" said Leon.
"I know he will!" said Lincoln. Leon then looks at the clock on his Rotom Phone and a look of alarm appears on his face.
"Blast, and look at the time!" said Leon. "Nearly forgot about my meeting with the chairman! That Oleana really lets me hear it when I'm late!"
"Better hurry than." said Lincoln. "I think he's at the Hammerlocke Stadium."
"Thanks, Lincoln." said Leon as he runs past the group, then stops and looks around. "Umm, where is Hammerlocke Stadium again?" The group sighs and points out the location to him. After Leon heads towards the stadium, the group continues on their way.
When they got further down the path, they see Raihan, standing in front of large double doors.
"Hey, it's Raihan." said Lincoln, getting Raihan's attention.
"Hey; aren't you one of the trainers endorsed by Leon?" asked Raihan.
"You bet." said Lincoln.
"What's your name?" asked Raihan.
"My name is Lincoln Loud." replied Lincoln.
"Well, if Leon himself recognized your potential, then I guess you'll grow into quite the trainer." said Raihan, making Lincoln smile in response. "All the same, anyone wanting to challenge the mighty Raihan has to prove they're ready by earning seven gym badges first."
"We intend to do so." replied Lincoln, motioning to himself, as well as his friends and family.
"Hey, Raihan; is that the vault?" asked Clyde, making Raihan look at the doors he was in front of.
"Indeed it is; have you come to see our treasures?" asked Raihan.
"You better believe we are." said Lola.
"Gaining a better understanding of Pokemon by studying history is not a bad idea." said Raihan. "I like your spirits, kids; follow me." Raihan leads the group into the vault; once inside, they were in a room with a reception desk, a couch, a shelf with pamphlets, and shelves with trophies and plates. Raihan then points to a doorway that had a flight of stairs going up. "If you want to see the vault, it's up those stairs there."
"Thanks, Raihan." said Ronnie Anne. Lincoln and the group begin walking up the stairs. After a minute of walking, the group arrived at a tall double door. Lola begins trembling with excitement; she fantasized a room with piles of gold coins, gems, crowns, even a gold, sparkling, jewel encrusted tiara, which she imagined herself wearing while having one hand on her hip and the other against the back of her head. When the group entered the vault, to Lola's disappointment, all that was in the vault were four tapestries hanging on the wall; Lola frowns in response. The group sees Sonia, looking at the tapestries.
"Hey, Sonia." said Lincoln, getting Sonia's attention.
"Hello, everyone; what brings you all here?" asked Sonia.
"We're just here to check out the vault." replied Clyde.
"Not exactly what I was expecting." said Lola with a disappointed tone.
"What? We're you expecting gold, jewels, crowns, even a fancy tiara?" asked Lana.
"You know me all too well, do you?" replied Lola. Sonia looks up at the tapestries.
"It's great that there are still tapestries that can tell us of Galar's history." said Sonia. She looks at the tapestry on the farthest left which showed an image of two men looking up at a star above them. "This shows two youths watching a wishing star."
Sonia then looks at the tapestry to the right of the first one which showed a black and red cloud with lightning bolts coming down from it while the two men were surrounded by fire and people wielding spears.
"A disaster occurs; the two bewildered youths." said Sonia. She then turned towards another tapestry that showed the two youths with fists raised, and a sword and shield above them that appeared to have destroyed the cloud.
"This one shows the youths looking on at the sword and shield that stop the disaster." said Sonia. She turned to the last tapestry that showed the two youths, holding hands, wearing crowns and royal attire, standing in front of a castle.
"This last one showed the two youths being crowned." said Sonia. "These tapestries tell the story of the creation of a kingdom." She turned towards the group. "So, what sticks to you most about them?"
"There's two heroes?" replied Lincoln.
"Bang on. The statue at the hotel in Motostoke only had one hero, no matter how you slice it, but here, we clearly have two youths." said Sonia. She begins tapping her chin. "Was there one hero, or two? And what even caused the Darkest Day? Thanks for letting me bounce my ideas off you all. I think I got some theories now."
"No problem." replied Luna.
"I'm going to research these tapestries a bit more, but you all have your gym challenges, right?" asked Sonia.
"Totes." replied Leni.
"I'll be cheering for you all." said Sonia. She turned her attention back to the tapestries while Lincoln and the rest of group exited the vault.
"That was very interesting." said Lincoln.
"Still wish there was actual treasure in there." said Lola with a pout.
"Get over it, sis." said Lana. The group walks down the stairs and returned to the lobby where Raihan was.
"The tapestries in the vault depict the heroes of the Galar region's past." said Raihan. "I suppose if we've got any modern hero, it'd have to be our champion, Leon."
"Totally." said Sam.
"If you all hope to beat Leon, go up to Route 6 and train your Pokemon up on your way on Stow-on-Side." said Raihan.
"We intend to." said Lincoln. The group then leave the lobby; they decided to go to the Pokemon Center and sell some of the valuables the Digging Duo dug up for them. They each bought five pokeballs while Lucy bought five Dusk Balls, as well as three Super Potions each. The group then leave the Pokemon Center and began travelling west towards Route 6.
