Wallace Cup Battle Stage (Part One)
It was night at the Hotel Grand Lake; the Louds, Stella's parents, the McBrides, the Sharp kids, and Dawn's mother were all in bed.
Stella and Dawn, however, were standing on balconies, looking out over the ocean, lost in thought.
'I can't wait for the Battle Stage.' Stella thinks to herself so she doesn't wake her parents.
'Who will I be going up against in the first round?' Dawn asked herself. 'I hope I don't disappoint my mom.'
'I might be going up against Zoey or Dawn.' Stella thinks to herself.
'Whatever happens, I'll do my absolute best.' Dawn says to herself.
'All I want to do is have fun, and be with Lincoln.' Stella says to herself.
After a few minutes, both girls go back into their rooms and go right to bed.
The next morning, after everyone had breakfast, they all made their way to the Lake Valor's Contest Hall to watch the Battle Stage.
"I can't wait to get started!" said Stella as she and Lincoln held hands.
"I am, so, going to do my best!" said Dawn.
"Will it be enough to beat me?" asked Stella with a smirk.
"You better believe it will." said Dawn as she glares at Stella and Lincoln's hands with a small bit of jealousy.
"We'll see about that." said Stella as she held Lincoln's hand tighter.
"I like the Battle Stages." said Lynn Jr. "None of that fancy prancing around and showing off."
"I loved the Appeal Rounds." said Lola.
"Of course you would." said Lynn Jr.
"I, totes, think they're amazing!" said Leni.
"Let's just get to the Contest Hall so we can find seats to watch Stella and Dawn." said Rita.
"Maybe we'll get good ones." said Luan.
"Well that's why we should hurry before they're all taken." said Sam as she starts to run with Simon quickly following after her, prompting everyone else to pick up the pace.
They all arrive at the Lake Valor Contest Hall quickly enough and head inside; Dawn and Stella headed for the backstage area to get into their coordinator outfits while everyone else went to the spectator seats.
In the changing rooms, Stella was getting into the outfit she wore yesterday.
"I think Lincoln likes it when I wear this outfit." said Stella with a blush, making Dawn grumble.
"Hey, everyone." Zoey's voice calls out, making Dawn and Stella look to see their fellow coordinator walking over to them.
"Hi, Zoey." said Dawn.
"Are you ready for the Battle Stage?" asked Stella.
"You bet I am." said Zoey with a smile. "I'm gonna win the whole thing."
"Not if I do." said Stella.
"Only if I let you." said Dawn with a grin.
"We should save our energy for the Battle Stage." said Zoey.
"Good idea." said Dawn.
"Excuse me, everyone." a female stage manager says, getting the coordinators' attention. "The Battle Stage will begin in ten minutes, please finish preparations and proceed to the stage area."
Stella, Dawn, and Zoey look at each other with confident smiles on their faces.
"See you all out there." said Zoey.
"You bet." said Stella.
Minutes later, Marian walks to the center of the stage where a microphone was waiting for her.
"Welcome to the Battle Stage of the Wallace Cup!" said Marian. "Our top sixteen coordinators will go up against each other in one-on-one Pokemon Battles until only one is left to claim the Aqua Ribbon. Now let's get started."
On a giant monitor, two images were flashing on it until they stop at pictures of Zoey, and a boy with slicked-back, black hair, wearing a white tuxedo with matching dress shoes.
"And our first battle is Zoey vs Nicholas." said Marian. "Let the first round of the Battle Stage begin!"
"Yeah!" shouts Lynn Jr from the spectator seats.
Zoey and Nicholas both head out onto the battle arena and each take a pokeball off their waists; Zoey tosses hers, releasing a dark purple, ghostlike Pokemon with tufts on its head that look like it' wearing a witch's hat with pink trim, a tuft on its back that looks like a cloak with pink trim, and three red oval-shaped jewels on its chest, in a plume of gray smoke.
"What's that?" asked Lincoln as he points his pokedex at Zoey's Pokemon.
"Mismagius, the Magical Pokemon, and the evolved form of Misdreavus. Its cries sound like incantations. Those who hear it are tormented by headaches and hallucinations." said Lincoln's pokedex.
"I want one." said Lucy.
"I'll try catching a Misdreavus and evolving it." said Lincoln.
"Thank you, dear brother." Lucy replied.
Nicholas tosses his pokeball, releasing a light purple, muscular, humanoid Pokemon with gray ridges on its head, red markings on its arms, black tights, and a championship belt on its waist, in a blast of gold confetti.
"What's that Pokemon?" asked Lynn Jr with interest. Lincoln points his pokedex at the Pokemon to find out.
"Machoke, the Superpower Pokemon, and the evolved form of Machop. Machoke's boundless power is very dangerous, so it wears a belt that suppresses its energy." said Lincoln's pokedex.
"I'm tempted to stay here for a while to train my Machop until he evolves into that." said Lynn Jr.
Back on the battlefield, Zoey and Dawn were ready to get started.
"Mismagius, use Psybeam!" said Zoey. Mismagius releases a beam of psychic energy from one of its chest jewels at Machoke, hitting it, dealing super effective damage; and reducing Nicholas's points; Machoke starts to stumble around.
"And it looks like Machoke's confused!" said Marian.
"Machoke, use Dual Chop!" said Nicholas. His Machoke tries to run at Mismagius, but it trips over its own feet, making him fall to the ground, hurting itself, and lowering Nicholas's points more due to Machoke taking damage and having an attack fail.
"Go, Mismagius." said Lucy with what could be enthusiasm.
"Mismagius, use Mystical Fire!" said Zoey. Mismagius draws a ring in the air that ignites with flame; it releases a stream of fire through it which gets amplified as it does, hitting Machoke, dealing damage, and lowering Nicholas's points further; Machoke shakes its head, snapping itself out of its confusion.
"Machoke, Knock Off!" said Nicholas. Machoke swings a fist coated with dark energy and hits Mismagius, dealing super effective damage, and lowering Zoey's points.
"Mismagius, use Phantom Force!" said Zoey. A purple portal appears under Mismagius.
"Machoke, hurry and use Knock Off again before Mismagius gets away!" said Nicholas. Machoke runs at Mismagius as fast as it could and swings, but Mismagius goes into the portal, making the attack miss, causing Nicholas to lose more points due to an attack missing and using the same attack at least twice in a row; Mismagius suddenly comes out of a portal that appears on the floor behind Machoke and releases an invisible blast of energy that hits Machoke, dealing enough damage to take away the last of Nicholas's points.
"Nicholas has lost all of his points. Zoey is the winner!" said Marian.
"We did it, Mismagius!" said Zoey, making Mismagius take a bow.
"That was awesome." said Lucy.
"Too bad Machoke lost." said Lynn Jr with a huff.
"At least it tried its best, sweetie." said Rita.
"I would've trained my Machop better." said Lynn.
Once Zoey and Nicholas got off the stage, several other battles were done until it was Dawn's turn; across from her was a teenage girl with long red hair, wearing a light blue, sparkling dress named Ariel. Dawn and Ariel each pull out a pokeball.
"Go, Crawdaunt!" said Ariel, throwing a pokeball and releasing a red, lobsterlike Pokemon with a yellow star on its forehead, followed by blue bubbles. Sam takes out her pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Crawdaunt, the Rogue Pokemon, and the evolved form of Corphish. It is a ruffian that uses its pincers to pick up and toss out other Pokémon from its pond." said Sam's pokedex.
"Altaria, spotlight!" said Dawn, throwing a pokeball and releasing Altaria, followed by a rising puff of white smoke. "Okay, Altaria, use Disarming Voice followed by Dragon Breath!" Altaria releases pink soundwaves from her mouth, then a transparent beam of energy with white rings around it through the pink soundwaves and they hit Crawdaunt, dealing super effective damage, and causing Ariel to lose a lot of points due to Dawn using an impressive combination.
"Crawdaunt, use Bubble Beam followed by Swift!" said Ariel. Crawdaunt fires a beam of glowing bubbles out of one pincer and releases stars from the other pincer and they hit Altaria, dealing damage, and causing Dawn to lose points.
"Altaria, use Fury Attack!" said Dawn. Altaria flies towards Crawdaunt.
"Crawdaunt, use Protect!" said Ariel. A green force field appears around Crawdaunt and blocks Altaria's attack, causing Dawn to lose points due to an attack failing. "Now use Knock Off!" Crawdaunt leaps at Altaria while black sparks surrounded one of its pincers.
"Altaria, Cotton Guard!" said Dawn. Altaria glows blue and becomes surrounded by a ball of cotton before Crawdaunt hits her with its pincer, but not dealing much damage, but still causing Dawn to lose points. "Now use Disarming Voice followed by Peck!" Altaria releases pink soundwaves from her mouth at Crawdaunt; she flies through them and jabs Crawdaunt with her beak, damaging it, while the pink soundwaves hits Crawdaunt, dealing super effective damage. Crawdaunt falls near Ariel's feet, unconscious.
"Since Crawdaunt is unable to battle, Dawn is the winner." said Marian.
"Way to go, Altaria." said Dawn.
"That was beautiful." said Lola.
"Way to go, Dawn." said Clyde. Kenny, who was also in the audience smiles at Dawn.
After the next match, it was finally Stella's turn; she comes out onto the stage with a girl with long blonde hair, wearing a green kimono with a white sash.
"Up next we have Stella Zhau and Rebecca." said Marian.
"Woohoo! Go, Stella!" cheered Lincoln, making Stella look at him with a smile before blowing him a kiss, making Lincoln blush.
Rebecca takes a pokeball off her waist and tosses it, releasing a large, white, seal-like Pokemon with a horn on its head in a flurry of snowflakes. Lincoln takes out his pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Dewgong, the Sea Lion Pokemon, and the evolved form of Seel. In snow, the pure white coat covering its body obscures it from predators." said Lincoln's pokedex.
"Roserade, showtime!" said Stella as she takes a pokeball off her waist and tosses it, releasing her Roserade in a flurry of pink flower petals.
"So pretty!" said Lola with delight.
"Roserade, use Stun Spore followed by Magicial Leaf!" said Stella. Her Roserade shakes the bouquets on the ends of her arms, making them release a cloud of yellow pollen; she then twirls around and releases a barrage of glowing green leaves; they mix with the yellow pollen, making them sparkle yellow as they hit the Dewgong, dealing super effective damage, and making Rebecca lose a good amount of points due to her Pokemon taking damage, and Stella using an impressive move combination. Dewgong twitches due to some of the Stun Spore coming off on it.
"And it looks like Dewgong's paralyzed!" said Marian.
"Dewgong, use Aurora Beam!" said Rebecca. Her Dewgong fires a multicolored beam of icy energy from its horn that hits Roserade, dealing super effective damage, lowering her attack power along with some of Stella's points.
"Roserade, use Giga Drain!" said Stella. Roserade releases a powerful stream of green energy from the white rose on her head that hits Dewgong, draining it of some stamina that's used to heal Roserade, as well as taking away some of Rebecca's points.
"Dewgong, use Sheer Cold!" said Rebecca, hoping for an instant KO. Dewgong tries to attack, but paralysis stops it, causing Rebecca to lose more points due to a failed attack.
"Roserade, use Petal Dance!" said Stella. Roserade twirls around, releasing a flurry of petals that hit Dewgong, knocking it out.
"Due to Dewgong being unable to battle, Stella and Roserade are the winners." said Marian. The crowd roars with applause.
"We won, Roserade!" said Stella as she hugs her Pokemon.
"That was so amazing!" said Lincoln.
"And beautiful!" said Lola.
The last battle happens, and the first round of the Battle Stage part of the Wallace Cup comes to an end.
"Don't miss the next round tomorrow, everybody!" said Marian.
Everyone soon meets up in the lobby to congratulate Stella and Dawn on their victories.
"You two were amazing!" said Clyde.
"Good work, you two." said Lynn Sr.
"You two were good." said Kenny. "You were lucky I didn't make it to the Battle Stage."
"Sure, Kenny." said Dawn as she does an eyeroll. Lincoln soon feels a couple of arms drape over his chest, making him look behind him to see Stella, still wearing her belly dancer outfit, looking at him with her eyes half-closed and a smile on her face; Lincoln blushes at this.
"How did I do, Lincoln?" asked Stella.
"Y-You were incredible, Stella." said Lincoln, making his sisters giggle, and Dawn frown. Stella walks around in front of Lincoln and leans against his body while nuzzling his cheek; Lincoln's blush intensifies as he notices the smell of the sweet-smelling perfume that his girlfriend was wearing.
"Be sure to cheer for me, tomorrow." said Stella before she lifts her veil up and kisses Lincoln on the lips, making his face turn completely red, and steam come ouf of his ears.
"Rusty would definitely be jealous." said Clyde.
Stella, Dawn, and Zoey have all made it to the next round of the Wallace Cup Battle Stage. Who will their next opponents be and who will win the Aqua Ribbon? Wait and find out.
