The Back Alley Mr. Mime
Back in Jubilife Village, Luan was wandering around, bored out of her mind without most of her siblings to hang out with, Leni doing stuff with Anthe at the clothier, and Lola still running her and Lana's shop.
"I should've stayed in the Crimson Mirelands." said Luan. "There's not much I can really do around here right now."
"Pardon me." a man with dark blonde hair, wearing a rust red haroi over a white tunic, brown pants, and sandals calls out to her, getting Luan's attention.
"Are you talking to me?" asked Luan.
"Yes." said the man. "Are you with the Galaxy Team Survey Corps?"
"Yeah; why?" Luan replied.
"There's something of a problem I need help with." said the man.
"What is it?" asked Luan.
"There's a Mr. Mime that I've noticed around the village lately." said the man. "A wild Pokemon around the village is scary enough, and then there's the eerie way it moves..."
"How so?" Luan replied.
"It holds out his hands and acts as if there's a wall in front of it." said the man.
"That's just what they tend to do." said Luan. "I got a Mr. Mime myself."
"Then you have some experience then?" asked the man.
"Yeah." Luan replied. "But why do you want me to take care of it? Why don't you ask the Security Corps?"
"The Security Corps refuses to handle it, for whatever reason." the man replied. "That's why I came to you for help."
"I'll see what I can do." said Luan. Just then, the man looks over to his right, and his eyes widen.
"There it is!" said the man, making Luan look to see that a Mr. Mime was in an alley that was between two rows of houses; it was indeed holding its hands out and acting like a wall's in front of it, just like the man described.
"Why is it doing that?" asked Luan.
"I don't know." said the man. "Could you go over to it and find out for yourself?"
"Sure; I got nothing better to do." said Luan.
"Thank you so much." said the man.
Luan walks over to the alley and enters it. She walks over to where the Mr Mime was, with it still doing what it was doing when she first saw it. But when she gets close to it, she suddenly bumps into an invisible force, making her stumble back, and fall on her rear.
"OW!" said Luan as she rubs her head in pain. "That hurt as much as when that Clover girl was slamming my head against the ground yesterday." She gets up and slowly walks over to the Mr. Mime with her hands out in front of her; she soon finds the invisible barrier and feels around, hoping to find an opening.
"What am I going to do?" Luan asked herself. "I can't get to this Mr. Mime with, whatever this is, blocking my way." She looks around and realizes that there another way into the alley behind the Pokemon.
"Let's see if I can get at it from behind." said Luan. She leaves the alley and quietly sneaks past a row of houses, making sure the Mr. Mime didn't see her; she reaches the other end of the alley and quietly makes her way to the Pokemon while being careful not to make any noise. When she was close to the Mr. Mime, and that she was certain that there wasn't an invisible barrier blocking her way, she reaches out and taps its shoulders, startling it.
"What are you doing here?" Luan asked the Mr. Mime. But instead of getting an answer, not that she'd be able to understand what it was saying, the Pokemon quickly runs out of the alley. Luan quickly runs after it in pursuit; when she exits the alley, he runs into the man who asked for her help with the Mr. Mime.
"It went that way!" said the man as he points towards Galaxy Hall.
"Thanks." said Luan.
"It wouldn't run unless it had something to hide!" said the man. "Now we've really got to find out what it's up to." The man and Luan then run to where the man told her the Mr. Mime went.
"Hi, Luan." said Leni, making Luan look to see her second-oldest sister walking over to her.
"Hey, Leni." said Luan.
"I have got to tell you about the new clothing designs that Anthe and I came up with." said Leni with excitement.
"I wish I could take the time to do that, but I'm helping this man." said Luan, who then tells her sister about the request she got.
"Do you need help?" asked Leni.
"Sure." Luan replied. "This guy told me he saw it heading over to Galaxy Hall."
"Let's get it." said Leni.
"Be careful, though." said Luan as she rubs her forehead. "It can make invisible barriers, and I can tell you that they're pretty solid."
"Okay." said Leni. She, Luan, and the man head over to Galaxy Hall and look around it until they spot the Mr Mime standing around the east side of the building.
"There it is!" said the man.
"Be careful, Leni." said Luan as she slowly approaches the Mr Mime with her hands out in front of her, with Leni doing the same thing; they soon find a barrier in front of the Pokemon.
"What do we do now?" asked Leni.
"Let's go around Galaxy Hall and see if we can find a way to get it from behind." said Luan.
"Okay." said Leni. She and Luan run to the other side of Galaxy Hall, then move behind it. As they sneak over to the Mr Mime, they find another barrier.
"What the..." said Luan. "How many walls can it make?" Leni feels around until she finds a spot that didn't have a barrier.
"There's an opening here." said Leni. Luan and Leni work together,finding where the barriers were, and eventually make it over to where the Mr. Mime was.
"Gotcha!" said Luan as she leaps at the Mr. Mime; but the Pokemon, startled by the sudden surprise, jumps up to avoid her, and runs off towards the village's east gate.
"What are you two doing?" asked the man as he approaches the two Loud sisters. "Why did you go all the way around the building to catch that Mr. Mime.
"It can make invisible walls." said Luan. "We couldn't get at it head-on."
"Maybe that Mr. Mime is using some mysterious power." said the man.
"Probably." said Luan. "It went towards the east gate." She, Leni, and the man take off in the direction the Mr. Mime went in and soon find it near the village gate.
"Go see if it's making invisible walls!" said the man. Luan, not wanting to take the chance of walking into another barrier, takes a pokeball out of her sachet, and tosses it at the Mr. Mime; it bounces off of the invisible force.
"Let's see if we can find an opening, Leni." said Luan.
"Okay." said Leni. She and Luan start feeling around the area that the Mr. Mime was in and soon find an opening to its left and soon reach the Pokemon that looked like it was ready to make a quick getaway.
"It's trying to run again! Wait, you!" said the man as he runs at the Mr. Mime, only to run into an invisible barrier.
"Told you." said Luan. The man rubs his forehead and feels around until he finds the barrier.
"I... can't go any further!" said the man as he tries pushing against the barrier to see if he can get through it, but with no success. "There's definitely something here that I can't see!"
Just then, a member of the Galaxy Team Security Corps comes walking over to them
"What is it, Mr. Mime?" the Security Corps asked the Pokemon. "Looks like something's got you in a panic."
"You know this Mr. Mime?" Luan asked the Security Corps member.
"Yep. It helps me guard the gate sometimes." the Security Corps member replied.
"That's nice of it to help you out like that." said Leni.
"When it stands out front and does that eerie dance, wild Pokemon can't get in." the Security Corps member explained. "It's like there's some kind of invisible wall."
"We learned that the hard way." said Luan as she rubbed her forehead.
"It's docile, and it helps me with my job, so I let it do as it pleases." said the Security Corps member.
"Who would've thought..." said the man as he looks at the Mr. Mime with amazement.
"Don't be surprised, sir." said Luan.
"Me, Luan, and our siblings work together with our Pokemon too." said Leni.
"Sorry to make you two go through all that trouble." said the man. "But it brought me some peace of mind, if nothing else."
"Glad we were able to help." said Luan.
"If we've got invisible walls cropping up here and there, then folks had better keep an eye out." said the man.
"How are they supposed to do that if they can't even see them?" asked Luan.
"That's a good question." said the man with embarrassemnt.
"Well, that solves that problem." said Luan.
"I wonder how Linky and our other sisters are doing?" asked Leni.
"I'm sure they'll be fine." said Luan.
"Do you think Clover or Irida got to Linky again?" asked Leni with delight.
"Don't know, but I wish I was there to see if it if either of them did." said Luan with a chuckle.
Meanwhile, back in the Crimson Mirelands, the Loud siblings who were still there, and not on their way back to Jubilife Village were continuing on towards where the frenzied Lady Lilligant was.
"How much closer do you think it is?" asked Lynn.
"Not sure." said Lincoln. "Wish we thought to ask exactly where Lady Lilligant was."
"Let's just keep looking." said Lucy from behind Lincoln, startling him.
Leni and Luan have helped a citizen of Jublife Village with his Mr Mime problem. Now Lynn, Lincoln, and Lucy are searching for the frenzied Lady Lilligant. Will they be able to calm her when they find her? Wait and find out.
